A 100-year old noodle shop. Tony had beef brisket noodles with wontons, cinematographer Chris Doyle had choy noodle soup.

This small, very local, outdoor eatery served delicious rice balls with sugar coconut sesame. They're warm, which caught me by surprise, but it has a familiar texture and taste if you've had Japanese mochi. Their food was just as simple yet tasty, like their stewed beef noodles. Worth a stop, especially if you're in the area. Note: I've read people saying that service was bad but (luckily?) we didn't experience that.

Beef brisket noodles are very very good. Huge portion of meat. Woman is friendly if you don’t stand and just take a million pictures. Quick service. The bowl came out to like $3.50 usd? Totally worth it. Closed on weekends

250120 - Food still good. Most of the 1 star review here is given by those who’s taking picture where the owner already stated that “No photos”. This stall is a live museum and of course the owner do not want those people just come and 搞搞震冇幫襯。 221020 - Fun story and funny service. Me: “Brisket only” (淨牛腩) please. Man: Out of stock already. Me: (I still see a lot). So only “brisket noodle” is available? Man: Yes. “brisket only” is 26 両, we don’t have that many now. If you can stay for 30 mins, I can boil for you. Me: Err, then just order 2 “Brisket noodles” without noodles please (兩個牛腩麵走底) Man: Sorry, we don’t sell “Brisket noodles without noodles” (走底). Brisket itself has no value so we don’t sell it (I actually think the noodles contain no values). Me: Then 1 brisket noodle please. I found this horrible attitude lovely. 220905: Food quality for many small stores will drop when they get famous. This store keeps the same taste for almost 20 years. Perhaps the place (and service) is too horrible so it won’t get too popular. Anyway, this kind of taste will be gone in HK soon. It will then become a 回憶的香港。

Surprised delicious noodles with pork trotters and wonton - love the tenderness and rich taste of soup no complain at all. Bosses are indeed nice as long as you respect the rules she set. - no photos, and sit, wait for order isnt it the so-called rules that simple and making senses?

Local Canton dessert stall still offers traditional taste.

A long-standing dai-pai-dong Hong Kong-style eatery that is serving noodle and sweet soup. The bowl of shrimp dumplings wonton was of poor quality the shrimps were not fresh. Service here was minimal or none. The lady here was extreme rude and loud to new customers. She scolded people for taking photos at her stall and could be long winded to shout to the guest.

Route stuff, bad food, expensive and most of all dirty. It amazes me that this place has been standing for over decades in the most central area of Hong Kong providing this level of service and food. And I’m even more surprised that there are still people going there to eat, take pictures, et cetera. This is one of the miracles of Hong Kong, anywhere else in the world displayed would’ve either been closed down or someone else would have closed it for them.

I found a spider in my wonton noodle soup, otherwise I would’ve rated this place highly. The boss lady was shouting at passer-bys to stop taking photos because patrons were eating- which I didn’t mind. In fact, my 5 friends and I found it entertaining. However, the “spider soup” really diminished my view of this traditional street stall, and the owners quickly said that it must have fallen in (it didnt, it was in my noodles) and quietly threw out the bowl and took it off our bill.

Yelp
In all honestly, I did believe the owner of leaf dessert was going to be a bit rude in behavior prior to my visit so the fact she was 100% exactly the way people claimed her to be wasn't going to change my liking to the quality of food. Unfortunately, both desserts I've ordered came out completely sloppy. Sloppy as in, it wasn't made with love and that the taste wasn't ideal. The coconut sago was watered down and it tasted "dirty". It's very hard to describe what this dirtiness tasted like but it was as if it was made with old ice blended down, or that it had a flavor of something that was left in the back of the freezer for a year and then defrosted. The mochi wasn't to my liking either even though I so much wanted to enjoy it. I suppose nothing was wrong with the texture but it was the topping which made my tastebuds very sensitive. It had a kick to it as if it had ginger or something. I sure do hope it was ginger or I wouldn't know what made me feel that way. Overall, do not order the coconut sago and that every comment below mine is correct when saying the owner will in fact yell at you and that she will be a bit rude.

Yelp
I've been here a few times and have ordered their beef brisket in soup and dry and I have to say it's pretty amazing. I prefer this outdoor seating restaurant for the one across the road as the brisket and tendons are so tender, the egg noodle is less bicarbonate tasting and you can also get a traditional Asian dessert after your meal for just $12! Service is not great but seriously, it's in an outdoor hut and they only really sell a few variations of noodles and dessert. Between taking your order and food arriving is literally under a minute. The menus have English and obviously cash only for this joint, add $1 for takeaway.

Yelp
What a find! Friend brought us here to try the beef noodle soup and wow! Brisket was amazingly tender! I got a second bowl! Even took a pic with the owner. She's awesomely rude and nice at the same time. Love it! We will make this a must stop every time we're in the area.

Yelp
A rare 大排檔 daipaidong in the heart of Central. Being on the side street of Elgin, it allowed the owner to dodge the exorbitant amount of rent which most establishments has to pay and pass onto their customers. Food here in Central / Soho is a charged at a premium. Here you still can find a hearty beef brisket noodle for $37 and the best thing is you don't have to queue up like crazy Kaukee down at Gough St. Their tongsui or sweet soup is an excellent choice as well after the meal. If you want to enjoy the old Hong Kong without heading over to the dark side, please give this place a try.

Yelp
We were excited to try this place and walked pretty far for it. We even walked through the cockroach infested alleyway to get there. When we got here we asked what the popular items were. The lady responded loudly, "Don't ask such stupid questions!" She kept ranting and repeating that we were silly and asked stupid questions. The reason we asked was because the menus on the walls were in Chinese and we couldn't read it, but have been getting away with asking for recommendations in Cantonese. This time it didn't work out too well for us... The lady was so rude, so we took our business elsewhere. She probably scares all the customers away purposely so she can eat all the leftovers herself.

Yelp
Such great food. Almost didn't come because of poor reviews but so glad we did. We had the beef brisket noodles and they were the best we had in Hong Kong. The woman that runs the stall is a little short with customers, but the food is well worth it.

Yelp
The old couple owner of the stall were so rude as hell, just asking for an English version menu and they raised their voices at us.. bad bad place to go
