"Long known as the “unofficial town hall of Conway,” this charming, roadside mom-and-pop cottage (easy to spot by the colorful and unexpectedly controversial sign posted above the building) is the place to go for yeasty doughnuts and Bavarian-filled maple squares. The Leavitts sold the bakery to new owners in 2021 after over four decades in business, but it hasn’t skipped a beat. If ordering more than two dozen doughnuts, plan to give the bakery a heads-up by calling ahead." - Erika Adams

"Visitors chasing waterfalls and fiery orange and red leaves along New Hampshire’s famous Kancamagus Highway and within White Mountain National Forest have a number of nearby options for high-quality cider doughnuts. At Leavitt’s Country Bakery in Conway, they’re 'a perfect balance of crisp on the outside and soft, fluffy, chewy goodness on the inside,' says Henry Sirois, general manager of Jackson inn The Wentworth." - Adam H. Google
Nothing can beat freshly-made donuts on a Saturday morning 🤤 All donuts here, including seasonal flavors, are must-try.

Went a little late in the day but there was still a good selection of sweets. The one girl working the counter was super pleasant and knowledgable.

Google
Found this through Facebook and it may be one of the best things Facebook has ever done for me. Absolutely amazing donuts!!! Staff was super helpful with helping select. The only “issue” I had, and this is me just being picky, was we went very early and there was no other customers. Typically this wouldn’t be an issue for everyone but I would have loved to experience this place packed and crazy. Overall, if you are a donut person then this is a must try spot.

Google
Where they were voted #2 in the state I needed to try and assortment. The blueberry and chocolate cake glazed were so yummy! Their boston cream was delicious as well. Great selection and all varieties we tried were worth the trip! Can't go wrong with any choice in my opinion.

My husband and I recently went on a trip to New England from Dallas. I discovered this gem of bakery by complete accident or, divine intervention. We were heading to the White Mountains, and we had to stop . My husband and I got two donuts each. Apple glazed and a pumpkin 🎃 one for me. My husband got one with sugar and cinnamon and an Apple glazed. The crown Jewel was the absolute best carmel apple cider we've ever had. The kind that makes you want more and more. The surprising thing is, my second donut was still fresh three or four days later. We regret not buying a dozen. These are better than the big tourists, they also sell donuts 🍩 Yes, we went there also. I highly recommend Leavitt's County Bakery 👌

Google
We got donuts, a pistachio muffin, and a black coffee and it was all amazing! The donuts had the perfect texture and the pistachio muffin had the best topping and chunks of pistachio! It was also really affordable and conveniently right next to our campground. Definitely coming back next time we’re in Conway.

I used to love this place and rave about it to everybody I could but I was very disappointed when I went this year they open at 4 AM so thinking I get there at six that They would have everything out and everything would be fresh but the shelves were pretty much empty and I didn’t have a great selection. The donuts weren’t nearly as good as I remember for the past 10 years I’ve been getting them and I’m pretty sure I was eating the donuts from the day prior because they did not taste fresh. I was also disappointed in my experience the owner wasn’t very kind when I asked if there was anything more in the back and she seemed annoyed at all transactions that I watched happen while I waited for my breakfast sandwiches I don’t think I’ll be back next time. I visit north Conway. I will no longer be recommending this place.

Google
A great place to stop to stock up on treats for your day outdoors! I appreciated I could subsitute meat for more egg in the breakfast sandwich. It was also cool to see the famous mural! glad it was seen as art instead of advertising.

Yelp
When in Rome do as the Romans. I was in North Conway so I did as the they do and went to Leavitt's early on a Sunday morning. I grabbed a few to do a family sampling back at the hotel. I went with the following: Honey dip- good, fluffy and fully coated Chocolate dipped- Good (a lot of donut here!) Strawberry- I was raised on Dunkin's strawberry and I thought their strawberry flavor fell flat (plus they should make some without jimmies) Vanilla- The kids gobbled it up and I did not try it Baker's choice: Blueberry cake- WINNER! I am chasing a blueberry donut I had in Chicago. This wasn't it but it was flavorful and it surprised me. I would highly suggest getting the blueberry donut here. Just an FYI- dirt parking lot, small shop, did not have decaf coffee (and I am pretty sure no other cafe type beverages made on site), small seating area outside and a free little library box

Yelp
Wonderful pastries. Friendly customer service will definitely go back. Flaky, still warm.

Mike F.

Yelp
Best donuts in NH! For those that remember way back when Dunk's used to make theirs every few hours all day, these are even better!!! Go early as it's not uncommon for them to sell out.

K B.

Yelp
Day 1: We ordered an apple bear claw, a lemon, Bismarck, and a raspberry turnover. All were wonderful. They accept credit cards. Went back for day two: got a cinnamon twist, Boston cream, and an apple fritter. The Boston cream and the apple fritter were very good. The cinnamon twist was good, just a little bit on the simple side if you're interested in a pastry not so sweet.

Yelp
Small Mom and Pop gem in North Conway. Delicious hand cut donuts. Best donuts we ever had.

Jill V.

Yelp
Best egg sandwiches!!! And open super early for a pre hike fuel up... and some delicious after hike treats

Donna G.

Yelp
Absolutely hands down the best donuts ever. Classic, fresh, flavorful. Do not miss!

Heather Marie V.

Yelp
I saw that Leavitt's was voted best donuts in New Hampshire, so I had to try it. We got there around 10a and they had already sold out of some flavors (including one we wanted, sadly). We got a coconut, a honey dip, a Boston creme, and to go a little wild, one of the cinnamon buns that are as big as your head. The donuts were SO fresh and doughy. They might have been a touch too oily, but it didn't detract too much from the taste. It's a small place, but they have a little bit of seating if you want to enjoy your donuts there. The woman at the counter wasn't rude but she wasn't friendly, I kind of felt like our presence was annoying to her. I'm sure she had dealt with a lot of people already; it wasn't crowded when we arrived. Definitely worth a stop!

Lora P.

Yelp
Delicious donuts! The line moved fast and it was clear that the bakery is frequented by locals & tourists alike. Don't miss the huge apple fritter and Boston cream donut. They had a nice selection of gluten free bakery items as well. Grab some before hitting the Kanc so you don't get hangry.

Lindsay B.

Yelp
If you don't come here while you're in Conway you are doing yourself a disservice. The best donuts around. Period. The Apple fritter was insane. Crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside, perfect ratio of apple(not mushy, I hate that), and it literally melts in your mouth. Don't walk, run.

Lia M.

Yelp
Another review I still stand by. Leavitt's is known for their English muffin bread, which is delicious. It toasts up perfectly and makes for a tasty breakfast. I also love their cake-style donuts, especially the buttercrunch and coconut. Go early do you don't miss out.

Marisa L.

Yelp
AMAZING!!! Donuts are fluffy, fresh and melt in your mouth delicious! I ordered the peanut butter frosted donut and it was by far the best do it to ever touch my lips!

Samantha B.

Yelp
This place is no longer cash only! Amazing hole in the wall cozy bakery. So glad I stopped in. I loved my blueberry cake donut and maple donut. You can just tell everything is freshly made and it's all reasonable in price. Busy but they got to everyone quickly. A great sign.

Jackie O.

Yelp
Wow. I am blown away by the amazing goodies of this place. Old-school style donuts AND delicious cakes, cookies, brownies, and other pastries?! It doesn't seem fair. You won't find a place like this anywhere else. You'll leave with a dozen donuts and a box full of other goodies for about $20. Cash only! That's how you know they're good ;) The donuts were just my style. Old fashioned with a crispy outside and dense center. They also have yeast-raised which are quite the opposite: light, airy, and fluffy. You can't go wrong stopping here. One of the best things I got was some kind of pumpkin cake with pumpkin cream filling and some sort of delectable caramel frosting. It's what dreams are made of. Now go make yours come true!

John P.

Yelp
Not just the best donuts in the Mount Washington valley. Not just the best donuts in the state of New Hampshire.. but probably the best donuts on earth. I've lived in four states and in three major cities but the best donuts that I've ever touched my lips have been from Leavits and it's not even close. The glazed is an absolute weapon to my waistline and the coconut coated ones are my personal favorite.

Rose M.

Yelp
This place is so unbelievable. Donuts so fresh. No grease at all detected. Such friendly staff. This is a must stop by when in the area!

Jim K.

Yelp
ABSULTELY DELICIOUS!!! Yes, ALL CAPS. The smell hits you as soon as you pull into the driveway and only gets better from there. The donuts are FRESH and soft.

Ron M.

Yelp
These folks deserve 5 stars simply for standing up to the fascist local government that is abusing their power by a very wide margin. Subjective opinions that local politicians contort and twist to fill the emptiness of their lives should be protested against, fought against and deserve the rallying support of the locals. We cannot allow for this very real example of fascism to take root in our great country. Support Leavitt's fight against these very real fascist politicians.

Sue D.

Yelp
Best jelly donuts ever. So good I haven't tried anything else yet! I am a jelly donut expert - you can't go wrong.

Paddy C.

Yelp
The best donut my husband has ever had, my jelly donut reminded me of a donut shop I used to go too growing up in my neighborhood.

Brian B.

Yelp
Very greasy and no flavor at all. Very disappointed. Only Alternative was Dunkin and Ain't doing that......

Ellie L.

Yelp
My family and I were staying in the area for a couple nights and we couldn't stop coming here!!! I stopped by here just about every morning a got a dozen donuts for the kids. My favorite would be the boston cream. I think it might just be the best boston cream Ive ever had. The first morning I brought home a dozen, it was devoured so fast I didn't even get to have a bite. I had to sneak out and go back and get myself some. Go early!! While all the goodies are still there!!

Patty M.

Yelp
Delicious donuts, apple fritters and coffee rolls! You can't find many places that make them with this wuality!

Kaori M.

Yelp
I stopped here on the way to Conway lake for kayaking. I had blueberry turnover and coffee. Good thing is reasonable price, and decaf available. Friendly service. OK thing was blueberry was not fresh and not really good. Maybe I try donuts or pie next time.

Nicholas R.

Yelp
Loooooove the donuts. Boston Cream MMMMMMM. Apple fritters and so many other yummy treats

Shannon R.

Yelp
Very hostile and unwelcoming environment for people of color. The younger lady was nice but the older one was passive aggressive and rude. She didn't respond to my friends' greetings and stared them down. Coincidentally, other reviews mentioning this were also made by people of color. Such a shame because otherwise the donuts were decent.

Anthony G.

Yelp
Nice old style bakery with plenty of donuts options. Price is good too. Honey donut was tasty, chocolate glazed was good. It's funny but the boston creme was much smaller in size than any other donut. Elephant ears pastry looked huge!!! Nice people behind the counter and plenty of parking. I'm not a donut fan but this seemed like a good place to get fresh donuts.

Jill I.

Yelp
Stepped back in time at this bakery. Prices really cheap seemed to be a lot of local traffic has a sign stating best donuts award so I took a chance. Felt a bit grungy inside and out . The women behind the counter very pleasant. Maybe I should have got a donut but I choose a morning glory muffin and a coffee $1.65 wow that's cheap. Everything was reasonable priced and there was plenty to choose from. I tried the muffin but was very unimpressed no real flavor at all. Coffee was fine not sure what was up but there was a steady flow of customers, maybe I ordered wrong.

Kristina M.

Yelp
You'd think in these covid times, small businesses would appreciate patronage. NOT THIS PLACE. no customers when we went in and we heard good reviews, and we will always choose to support local businesses whenever possible. We walked in super excited to finally make it here, only to be greeted by crickets. In fact the only verbal exchange that happened was "$3.40". No thank you, have a good day, thanks for coming in. Nothing. You'll get better service getting a colonoscopy, which is probably what the cashier needs to get that stick out of that place.

Mandy T.

Yelp
Tried their donuts, bear claw, and blueberry turnover. None tasted fresh or special. Will not go again.

Nicole W.

Yelp
WOW! This bakery is unbelievable. We were lucky enough that our Airbnb was just a short walk from this place, but I'd go out of my way to visit here and have their amazing donuts. The four of us tried so many of their goodies during the week we were in Conway: Boston creme, chocolate glazed, blueberry glazed, coconut, chocolate butter crunch, you name it. We also tried some of the non-donut items, which were just as good: we had the cinnamon roll, apple fritter, raspberry turnover and chocolate chip muffin. I think the apple fritter was my personal favorite, it was probably the best one I've ever had. Everything is super fresh and such good quality. It really puts chains like Dunkin to shame (and I love Dunkin!) I just can't rave enough about this place!

Katie R.

Yelp
This was the perfect apple fritter, when I got mine it was still slightly warm. The crunch, the dough the apple. Perfect!

Mary L.

Yelp
Has been and has continued to be a great bakery in the area. We love the donuts. So proud of the new owners for fighting for the mural! Next they need to pave the lot and expand so there's seating!

Geny L.

Yelp
Imagine my surprise when I checked the open hours/days and then drove 1-1/2 hours to find them closed. Won't make the trip again. Even a local didn't know they now closed on Wednesdays - and also said the prices have increased since being bought out.

Katie H.

Yelp
While waiting for the rest of our group to arrive at the neighboring tubing center, we couldn't help but notice the smell of baked goods wafting over from this bakery and the numerous cars that were parked out front. Buoyed by the promise of a fresh donut before our day on the water, we hopped on over and got in the line of mostly locals. There were lots of great-looking sweets in the cases and on the racks, although the freshness seemed to vary. I opted for an apple fritter since they appeared to be fresh, and I've yet to have a bad fritter. It was great, really moist, soft, full of apple chunks, and just the right sweetness. My husband got a more standard frosted donut and was less happy with the freshness. Overall, it's a small local place frying up donuts for reasonable prices and makes a convenient stop if you're in the area.

Glenn E.

Yelp
If you're anywhere within 30 minutes you must make the stop here and try some of their amazing donuts or other baked goods. Very reasonably priced, underpriced if you ask me. Not a huge Selection of donuts, but what they lack in variety they make up for tenfold in quality! If you drive by this place you are missing out!

Mad R.

Yelp
Fantastic pastries, huge selection, great service you can't go wrong stopping here for something to eat.

Christine G.

Yelp
Great bakery!! Fantastic peanut butter and chocolate cookies!! Owner equally special.

Jamie B.

Yelp
This place had some of the best donuts I have ever had. I went at about 5am on a Sunday, grabbed an assortment of cake and yeasted donuts. While I am not normally a big fan of yeasted donuts, the butternut crunch yeasted donut was excellent and worked well, it felt light. The cake donuts were amazing, the standard buttermilk glazed cake donut was outstanding. Prior to coming here, the best donut I had ever had was at Donut Man in Hadley, MA (their buttermilk glazed, they are no longer in business unfortunately), Leavitt's in my opinion was better. Every time I visit the Conway area this place will be a required stop.

Catherine S.

Yelp
Great hidden gem. Love the donuts and figure 8 danish. Coffee was very fresh and flavorful. Good value for the $. Just off road. Had tables and chairs outside in summer. Went then and now. Really enjoyed the person working there friendly and knew lots about the items. Took severl items home as well.

Andrew G.

Yelp
Very cute spot to go get some baked goods! I really enjoyed my time here. Yum yum yum.

Linda D.

Yelp
Best bakery in town. There's nowhere else that we would get our donuts as they are fresh as can be. The new owners have done a wonderful job cleaning up the bakery and have added new goodies as well. Top notch service too!

Caitlin W.

Yelp
Wow! This is a must stop. Fresh scratch donuts were a perfect Sunday treat. Prices are reasonable and cash only.

L F.

Yelp
These are the Mom & Pop shops whose love for baking is evident in every pie, pastry and handcut donut they sell. Nice variety of donut flavors, and mismatched shapes that tell you "These are handcut and homemade, baby!" Absolutely delectable doughnuts. With the zillion chain-drive-thru donut shops invading every plaza in the region, it would be easy to overlook this bakery set off the road near the Saco Tubing Center. But it is your mistake to skip this place in favor of the generic. Their baked goods are melt-in-your-mouth delicious and they offer coffee and bevvies as well. Buttercrunch Chocolate, Coconut, Raspberry-Filled and so many more donut flavors alongside fritters, turnovers, pies, cinnamon rolls -- Good Lord! Are you not on your way yet?! And don't say it's too early, because this bakery opens at 4AM and that, my friends, is the real deal. Once you enter this bakery, you'll never want to "Leavitt"!

Brian C.

Yelp
The best donuts ever made by a human. Get there early for warm deliciousness. Their pies are excellent as well. Apple tarts, cookies!

Kyle L.

Yelp
This place never fails to impress me. Everything is always fresh. Love the "small town bakery" feel. Good product for great prices.

Aly B.

Yelp
Quaint bakery with a beautiful selection of baked goods. My husband & I opted for some donuts, and they were delicious! We will definitely be coming back!

Zachary F.

Yelp
So good. Get the maple donut or cannoli. Baker was super nice. Would recommend stopping in after kayaking the Sacco.

Michelle W.

Yelp
The glowimg reviews are all true about this place. This place is the real deal with fresh, handmade baked goods at very reasonable prices. And btw, THEY DO TAKE CARDS now. Skip that nasty Dunkin Donuts down the road and eat some real donuts.
