Maybe it's just how I was raised, but I cannot buy meat from the grocery store. My meat has to come from a butcher wearing an apron, covered in blood. I like it wrapped up in that white paper. At Lebanese Meat Market, I typically walk in and ask for one pound of ground beef. "That's all? No more?" asks the butcher. He walks to the back cooler, comes out with the hind quarters of a cow, chops it up, and grinds it right in front of you, trimming off fat to your specifications. And it's like $2. The meat is so fresh, and there are no fillers, it does not sit around on the shelf of a store. The homemade sausages and rib eye steaks are pretty good, too.
The only thing I still cannot figure out why they have all of those couches in the front of the store, though, as if loads of people are coming over to hang out and watch the butcher cut up animal parts.
