Metro Detroit’s Best Lebanese Restaurants | Eater Detroit

"If you fancy trays of baklava, Lebanese shortbread cookies, and desserts featuring ashta (a rose water flavored cream), then you’ll want to check out Lebon, a second-generation family-owned and operated business in Dearborn. The baklava and maamoul section is fairly diverse, and the trays are an excellent option for parties. There also known for the innovative Cheesedome — a sesame seed roll stuffed with sweet cheese." - Danny Palumbo

Are you using real pistachios? The use of artificial food coloring is concerning especially considering the well documented health risks associated with synthetic dyes. In this day and age, I expect better quality and transparency from a patisserie.

Google
Travelled all the way from Australia to try the famous Kanefeh, it did not dissapoint. Amazing. 10/10

Google
Service was friendly and The trays are not premade so I appreciate the freshness! I knocked it down two stars because when looking at the ingredient list on the box.. they use two different preservatives which I was not aware of: calcium propionate and potassium sorbate. I am hesitate to return because of that..Really wish it wasn't in their food.

Google
Love the knafehs here! Amazing fresh and melts in your mouth..

Google
Absolutely love this place, both locations. The women behind the counter have always been super friendly and helpful, which I especially appreciate since I am very unfamiliar with names of many of the different menu items, aside from the baklava, and often ask a hundred questions. I have brought friends from out of town who have never experienced Lebanese food, and they are always delighted with what we get here. Absolutely worth the 30 minute drive from home to come here.

Google
First impressions matter a lot, as we approach the windows and glass door are filthy. Walk in they have the music blasting, I had to ask the girl to turn it down so we could hear to order. Seriously! Then all 3 woman now instantly have attitudes. The showcase/displays are dirty, clean the glass. They have their hookah vapes and phones out, but can't clean the displays or the store. I had to tell the lady Thank you, after our purchase! I wish I had the owners number. But looks like he hasn't been to the store in years, nor does he care! What a disappointment!

Google
The kind of hospitality you don’t forget. I came in just curious — and left blown away. The staff at Lebon Sweets didn’t just greet me with warmth, they offered me a full sample slice of their signature dessert without hesitation. I was honestly a little embarrassed because it was so generous, and I felt like I had to pay for it… but they insisted. That kind of old-school, no-strings-attached hospitality? You don’t find it everywhere. And the dessert? Absolutely heavenly. Rich, balanced, and made with clear attention to quality. You can tell this place is run with pride and love. They didn’t just win a customer — they earned my loyalty. Thank you, Lebon. May your kindness come back to you in abundance.

Google
Best Lebanese Kinefeh, Halwat Jibn, Maamool and chocolate croissants in USA Period. The Kinefeh is as authentic as Seasweet Lebanon but this portion is twice bigger than portion of Seasweet. The Kinefeh is always fresh, hot and the cheese is elastic and delicious. Unlike Shatila that heats Kinefeh in microwave (A Crime against Kinefeh) Hwalwat Jibn tastes as good as Halallab Lebanon. The Maamool taste as good as Buhsali Lebanon. The service is fast and friendly. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves Lebanese desserts.

Yelp
Wish they have locations in Florida, we have to fly or drive to Michigan to taste the great sweets as original as the Lebanese version, very authentic. Prices are great for the amount and quality, if you buy the ingredients and make it your self LOL will not come out the same) will cost you more.

Yelp
While visiting Dearborn I always seek out a delicious Lebanese bakery. Today I found Lebon sweets. I was overwhelmed by the delicious looking pastries. The nice girl behind the counter recommended the Knafeh. It was so good! Perfectly cheesy and just a tad sweet. Definitely can't wait to go back. 100 percent recommended!
google avatar

Yelp
Words cannot describe how phenomenal this food is. I don't think anyone else in the world utilizes pistachios this perfectly. I don't know the names of anything I got. But it was sweet, decadent and full of amazing flavors. I want to live right next door to them. The people were very kind and explained the pastries to me. There are a lot more things I wanna try. Can't wait to come back.

Yelp
Our team grabbed a box of baklava and a large full sized tiramisu from here for our working team and for a colleague's birthday as well. This place has a few other locations around the area. My colleagues raved about this place, so we had to give it a try. The tiramisu was decent. I also tried a few of the different pistachio filled baklavas, they weren't too bad either.

Yelp
Such an authentic Lebanese spot that was super busy from the minute I arrived and left. Right when you walk in, you get warm and delicious smells of all the baked goods. My boyfriend and I got the kanafa which is a melted, cheesy, sweet, and gooey-ness all in a sesame bun. It comes with a sweet syrup which was extremely delicious as well! This spot truly is a gem!
google avatar

Daniel B.

Yelp
You can count the time from when I first heard about Lebon Sweets, to the time I showed up there for Kanafa, in minutes. Thankfully my wife had left some lights on in her car overnight, and I needed the assistance of AAA. It turns out that the fellow who helped replace my batter was from Lebanon, and naturally we started talking about food. As good as Yelp may be, I had to ask him where he thought the best Kanafa in the region could be found. Lebon Sweets got his full throated approval. It wasn't even close. We shared similar thoughts that some famous regional bakeries which specialize in baklava, make lackluster Kanafa. The same holds true in reverse. Those shops that make great Kanafa may not be where you want to go for baklava. So I came here on a mission. Technically, I was told to visit the location in Dearborn Heights, but this one was closer to my other outing that day, so I found myself in this strip mall bakery that did not look like much. It was also clear that the thing to get here, was the cheese dome, aka the Kanafa Sandwich, aka Kanafa in Kaak, aka carbs stuffed with fat and doused in sugar. Like everyone else here says, it was super delicious. So why only the four stars? Well, I am quite sensitive to smells, especially smells of strong industrial cleaning agents. I keenly understand the importance of a bakery to be clean. All that sugar can attract critters, and nobody wants any critters with their sweets. That said, sadly the smell of the cleaning agent was so intense, even when I went back to the car to eat my treasure, the sesame roll was redolent of cleaner. Obviously that detracted from the experience. That said, I am absolutely going to try the Dearborn Heights location in the hopes that they use a different cleaner... or at least use it at a more dilute strength, so that I may fully enjoy this decadent treat. Also, I have to admit to a modest preference for Kanafa where the syrup is scented with rosewater. This version had a more straight up sugar syrup. Perhaps that is more true-to-form of Lebanese Kanafa. I have no idea. I am still learning about the regional differences of this delightful dessert. It's hard work, but I think I am up for the challenge!

Hakam K.

Yelp
It used to be a good quality , I bought 4 dozens of mamoul but it was not fresh , I emailed them with no response.. i will think many times before order from them again ..

Areefeh S.

Yelp
Customer service is most important to me wherever I go.It was not there I'm sorry .I walked out feeling awful.
google avatar

Kristin S.

Yelp
Delicious. Best dessert, nice service, fast, you can order a bunch and freeze or ship them.

Sahar H.

Yelp
It's all fake stuff now they use to be the best in USA now it's no taste using fake ingredients and adding coloring
google avatar

Jay B.

Yelp
I ordered 5 half trays of knefe and the lady at the register charged double. The place really cares and really made up all the wrongs.
google avatar

Sarah T.

Yelp
Wow! We had never tried Kanafe, but this was absolutely amazing. We went back the next day to get a second one. For around $5 you get this bread cheese yummy-ness! We asked them what we should try and they warmed it up for us and told us how to eat it. We came here for the baklava and we were not disappointed. Must try.
google avatar

Melody A.

Yelp
Hands down our "go to" place for Lebanese style Kanafa in Detroit. They have the perfect combination of cheesy, sweet syrupy goodness wrapped up in a perfect sesame seed pita . If you haven't tried the melty cheese/syrupy desert style combo you are missing out on life! Plan for a longggg walk to work off the calories after, but sooo worth it!
google avatar

Saran S.

Yelp
Kanafa at its best. They have few variations of the same milk cheese sweet, too heavy. At least a million calories. Lol but they are so delicious. They are fresh, they serve it hot or cold. They are sweet version of cheese layered with different things like pista, cookie crumbles, etc. served with some syrup. They could be made like a sandwich with that specialty bread. Makes it less sweat. Makes it yummier. They have the Lebanon version and palatine version This place is so humble, sits in the middle of a small strip mall. Kept super clean. This right across from the giant Shatila bakery. But so much better. The staff is super sweet, ;) friendly and inviting. She explained us what each one is and how it's different. There are stools to sit but it's mostly like a take out kind of place. It gets sticky and messy, so Don't think about eating it in the car and wipe with a napkin. Lol. Cost- 4 bucks per huge piece, they have buy 5 get 1 free.
google avatar

Anas S.

Yelp
Must try for a delicious breakfast! I wish they had a branch in Texas.. The package comes with fresh bread (Kaak) and syrup which is good portion for 6-8
google avatar

Yolanda L.

Yelp
The best chocolate croissants when they run out I literally have a attitude lol. I do have a second place to buy some from then I'm mad because there 2nd best soooo not good enough at all. But love these the most
google avatar

Kimberly E.

Yelp
This place is great! It was fun to explore a new area for me. Nothing in the store is labeled or priced, which was an adventure. Sweets are on the right and savory are on the left. Pay separately. I didn't know how to order/what many of the items were, and the staff were moderately helpful. Good prices and high quality stuff.
google avatar

Jonathan M.

Yelp
Do you want to feel like you're in Lebanon? Not in the mood to take that long ride from the United States to the motherland? But you still want to eat good? Well this is the place to be. Lebanese sweets all over and there so flavorful and delicious.

William S.

Yelp
We stopped here to try something other than baklava. As we were waiting in line I overheard some gentleman talking about what was "the best thing here". Then another woman came in and got what is the signature dish. So I had to try both of them The first thing was mamoul med ashta. They had three varieties. All of them were amazing. The second was the "cheese dome" which is a kanafa placed inside. Sesame bread dome. Really cool idea, and very tasty. We really loved them both. Add to that they had a special where you buy five get the sixth one free and it was a no brainer! Highly recommend
google avatar

Eric P.

Yelp
Cheesedome was an excellent concept. I never had anything quite like it. The bread tasted like a sweet sesame bagel, while the cheese was sweet and gooey. Im craving it right now. Minus one star for charging 2.50 for tea when other bakeries in the area give free. Also, the knanefeh was a bit too sweet for me.

Adam A.

Yelp
I've been going there for couple years and I get about 5 boxes of baklava every month and the first couple times they'd serve crispy/fresh baklava but now, unfortunately, they are not fresh at all and very hard and add too much sugar based syrup/honey on it. I'm not sure if it's worth going there at all
google avatar

Safo S.

Yelp
This place is a gem. Shatila bakery actually recommended it to us for the kaake, the sesame bread that that knefe comes in. They did not disappoint. They had a mixture of manaeesh (thyme flatbread, meat flatbread, kishik flatbread). They were the best we had in Dearborn. The knefe, though, that was the heart stopper. It was deliciously cheesy and the bread it came in was just perfect. Exactly like they used to make it back in lebanon. I ended buying 3 dozen kaakes to take with me and a full tray of knefe. They also deliver to wherever you are in the US, the details are on their If you're in the mood for lebanese sweets or even the savory flatbread items, look no more. This is your spot.
google avatar

Moe A.

Yelp
A delicious middle eastern dessert place. I ordered their popular Kunafeh sandwhich and I was not disappointed. A sweet cheese sugary dessert slapped inside a sesame bun and then drizzled with their syrup... yum! Be careful as it is super heavy - but it's worth eating it all.
google avatar

Mohammad A.

Yelp
Probably one of the best low-key bakeries you'll ever go to. The Kunafa may very well be some of the best in Dearborn. And then the Cheesedome.....man...I don't think anything can ever outdo that. So so so so freaking good. Biting into a cheesedome was like biting into heaven. Yes. I mean it. You have to stop by and at least try out the cheesedome. Won't regret it!
google avatar

Gaby C.

Yelp
I always end up finding myself on the road up to Dearborn JUST for this delicious bakery. We have a lot of good Palestinian knafeh over here in Chicago, but lack good Lebanese style knafeh. I wish they would open a bakery over here. I have ordered online, but sometimes the delivery service sucks and the ka3ak comes shattered into a million pieces. I will always come back to this bakery. It's the best knafeh in North America! I love it.

Jeff A.

Yelp
For years, I used to order only from Shatila but have been disappointed with the last few orders. On the recommendation of a friend, I placed an order from Lebon Sweets. My first order was botched by FedEx delays. However, the customer service and sincere empathy by the staff and owner from Lebon Sweets earns them a 5 star review for outstanding customer service. They were very apologetic and offered me a full refund or they would ship me a fresh order today. I elected for the for them to ship it again. So they get a 5 Star review today for customer service and stay tuned for another review from me once I taste the product.

Saba S.

Yelp
I just went there and I gave two stars for the bad service when I tried to have a bag for my baklava's boxes she offers me a garbage bag!!! With an attitude face!!!
google avatar

Food E.

Yelp
I tried the Kanafa shipped to MO. It's was really good even heated up, which is rare for kanafa. They even include the kaak with the order, their shipping is very reasonable as well. I have ordered again and recommend it for anyone who want to eat good kanafeh. I also ordered namoura (hareeseh) and it was ok. I wish they did katayef

TheMadoWhite ..

Yelp
This place used to have the best Gnafeh sweets ever, however the quality has gone down. The cheese isn't the same and the bread used for the sandwiches are allot thicker than before, it doesn't have the same quality; Although allot of people can't tell the difference. The main reason why this place doesn't even deserve a star is mainly because of their customer service. This place has the worst work ethic employees you would see, No mask have been worn by the employees, they have No Respect to the customers and are very rude. I placed a large order for 12 trays of Gnafeh at 1pm Sunday pick up at 6pm with fresh baked breads, I specifically asked for fresh baked bread. I arrived my order was not ready, the bread was not fresh baked and was frozen. The worst part is when the employees lie to you and tell you this is fresh but we had them sitting in the fridge. People are not stupid, as they make u seem stupid and they are correct. There are many ways to go around and telling ur customers in a nicely respectful way on why the bread is not fresh and keep ur customer service in check. Unfortunately they don't care or have a sense of respect to the customers walking into the door. I would never ever recommend this bakery as I used to be very proud to tell everyone about these amazing cheese sandwiches, due to low quality and lack of customer service, unfortunately!
google avatar

Vednath P.

Yelp
The kunafa certainly lives up to its reputation! The place for quite deserted for a more than average place
google avatar

Shawn P.

Yelp
It reminded me of Lebanon for a minute, the Kenefeh was amazing stayed in Michigan for 5 days I was eating that every day for 5 days
google avatar

Dr. E.

Yelp
I bought two. I ate one right away and saw flashes of the homeland before my face. The early mornings with my uncles eating knafe on beirut balconies. Bliss. The second I ate on the roof of the downtown detroit casino. The security eventually escorted me out. I tried to get them to taste the knafe so they could understand my state of mind but they said their supervisor would write them up. We hugged and said our goodbyes. They told me to take care of the knafe...and I did.
google avatar

Ala A.

Yelp
Best knafa in the us I think I love how good it is !! Wow I will be back just for you hahaha
google avatar

Radiance R.

Yelp
The first time I tried this kunafa sandwich was in my daughter's birth celebration. It was the best. Big hit. Everyone who knew Lebon was excited to have it. And those who were first timers surely enjoyed it too. It was great next morning too, for breakfast. Just pop it on the George Foreman till its hot and enjoy! Lebon offers many other sweets too. Their traditional Arabic pastries are amazing. They have dates, pistachio, and walnut varieties. I really like all of them. If you request, they will package it for travel. They wrap it in bubble wrap for extra protection (before putting the tray in the box.) Also, the kunafa sandwiches can be packed for travel! But they won't be assembled and are without syrup. The ladies working here are always helpful and kind. They are fast and more than willing to work with you. I love stopping by eveytime we pass through Dearborn. Other notes: They open late in Ramadan. And they are open on Christmas Day.
google avatar

CarPlay C.

Yelp
I like this place, their knafe is the best, I live in California but any time I travel to Michigan I pass by this place and get myself loaded with his taste knafe, also when I do have visitors coming from Dearborn I ask them to bring me some, all what I say Lebon Sweets keep up the good work
google avatar

Christine E.

Yelp
Best knafeh () that I've had from a store in the U.S. For those of you who are unfamiliar, knafeh is an Arabic sweet made out of sweet cheese (sort of like ricotta), the crunchy pastry knafeh and attar (syrup). It is a must-try dessert. This little shop is tiny and specializes in knafeh, so no ba'laweh or other Arabic sweets. They also make it a bit differently than my family does, because there is only one layer of knafeh. That is to say that it's just one layer of cheese and knafeh on top. It's also na3ameh, meaning it's finely-ground, so not as crunchy as the stuff we make at home. They also put it in a sesame roll, which my mom and I had never tried before (I guess this is the Lebanese way?), and it was DELICIOUS. The sesame next to the sweetness of the knafeh was amazing. The woman who was serving us was also incredibly sweet. When we ordered our knafeh without the sesame roll she insisted upon making us some with the roll so we could taste it - and ended up giving us a huge extra portion! I highly recommend this place to anyone who wants some real knafeh.

Ali K.

Yelp
I've been coming to this place for years. Their knafa is amazing. I appreciate the cleanliness of this place. I highly recommend!
google avatar

Baba D.

Yelp
This review is for their online ordering as well. I have tried kanafa (kunafa, kinafeh, kanafeh) in Beirut and this truly is the best replica available in the United States. The kaak (bread) that it comes served in just as delicious -- topped with sesame seeds and a crunchy shell, it is the perfect accompaniment to the Lebanese kanafa. There are a few places in Chicago that make a good shot at creating this delicacy, but they do not come close to the experience Lebon Sweets offers. I ordered online through their website and they followed up with a phone call to let me know my order was on its way. It arrived as promised and for a cheaper shipping rate than first quoted.

Hussein D.

Yelp
This by far the worst Arabic dessert i had ever bought. The lady was putting the kanafe on the tray and as she places the spatula below it the top part starts to crumble. The cheese taste like raw dough. As soon as i put my fork on this dessert the top part exploded with crumbs. It is not what it use to be. It use to be fresh, now they freeze them and heat them up for 4 dollars a piece? Sooooooo NOT worth it. I never write reviews but this one deserved this attention. I don't want a refund i don't want a different slice i am def not coming back here again. I would of placed my money on fire than to have to buy anything from here again.

Andrew M.

Yelp
+ 5 more stars! Here for a few days on business hankering for some Lebanese delights. Truly a tremendous place for sweets, should not be missed.
google avatar

Bob S.

Yelp
My first time trying lemon sweets, the workers were so nice and even let me try there popular cheese dome! Great service, great sweets :)

Aaron K.

Yelp
I've only had knafeh at one other place besides here, but compared to that other knafeh, Lebon Sweets's version is on a completely different level. I had the version with syrup and bread, and it was a fascinating combination of tastes and textures. And there was more of it than I could finish. The baklava was also tasty.
google avatar

Sarah H.

Yelp
Everybody's been raving about Lebon's kenafa and so we decided to finally try it! Can I say YUMMY! You can control how sweet you want it, they do not pour the syrup on there, you do to as much as you'd like! But, let me tell you, The cheese in that kenafa is the best!

Karim B.

Yelp
We initially contacted them online. We received a call from a person who was very professional and helpful. We then ordered Knafa online. First, It arrived on time (in 2 days) by FedEx as he mentioned. Second, the package was very neat and professional. Finally, the Knafa itself, It was perfect. We have tried Knafa from different places, many were delicious and tasty, but this is the best. It was so delicious and yummy & had that authentic taste. We are, definitely, going to order again, and of course, we will try other kinds of sweets.
google avatar

Maggie M.

Yelp
The knafeh sandwich was delicious. Not overly sweet and not overly salty (due to the cheese). Highly recommended sweet to try! Being from out of state the staff was very friendly and attentive to get us our sweets quickly. Each pasty was about $5 1 kanfeh sandwich can feed like 2-3 people! Def will return.
google avatar

Rola K.

Yelp
The kunafah here is the best. I never used to like it, I tried it in Lebanon and expanded my palette. Lebon sweets is just as close as it is back home. I'm not a huge sweets person, so I prefer not to have extra syrup poured into it. Get it on the side and never use it, but others can put as much on as they like. Very fattening, so I try to stay away from this place as long as I can.
google avatar

Mansoor I.

Yelp
The staff is friendly the Kanafa is wonderful the coffee is more than exceptional the store is always clean and in order I have lived in dearborn all my life and haven't found a business that makes a kanafa nearly as good as Lebon sweets

Bissaa A.

Yelp
The lebanese knafa sandwhich is delicious!! Every time I visit my family in dearborne, I make it a point to stop in at Lebon Sweets and indulge in this piece of heaven. The thin toasted sesame bread, a thick heavenly slice of knafa (never a shortage on the cheese), and the sweet syrup are just a phenomenal combo. As a New Yorker I have searched for this dessert and have yet to find it here. It is definitely worth the trip to try this knafa sandwhich!!
google avatar

Emil N.

Yelp
If your not traveling to the middle east to get a kanife then this is the next best thing. It will not disappoint.
google avatar

T-Roc M.

Yelp
Must try knafa with bread, kinda looks like a CHEESE, burger all heavenly cheese between crunchy sesame bread. Absolutely delicious and addictive. Must have it hot and not allot of syrup. Perfecto.
