OH MY GOODNESS! There is a hidden gem inside the Highland Lanes bowling alley. LEBOWSKI’s Grill is a hole in the wall, serving up one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. I’m impressed with the quality of the food here. Food: The meal was definitely a guilty pleasure. I got “The Dude” a classic burger with fries or tater tots. I ordered my burger with everything on it, adding cheese and bacon. So why was it so great? Well, to start, the bun was soft and fluffy, the beef patty was cooked to perfection at a medium rare (seasoned well, juicy), and the toppings were just the right amount to balance the whole burger out. The fries were great, too. Service/Ambiance: The guy taking my order was nice. It's a pretty decent-sized bowling alley with plenty of seating. I did not bowl this time, but going inside only to eat was fine. I would definitely come back next time to bowl and eat here again.

Burger place located in Highland Lanes bowling alley. No need to buy a game of bowling — you can go in just to get something from the restaurant (and it would be worth it). I ordered the Dude (typical hamburger) with cheese and a medium drink — cost about $17. It came out with fries and a pretty substantial (1/3 lb) patty. Amazing food for a bowling alley restaurant, the burger is better than a lot of restaurants’ in general. They also offer chicken tenders and the like if you are so inclined. You should go here soon, because the bowling alley might close in the near future. Highly recommended.

Lebowski’s Grill at Highland Lanes has the best burgers I’ve had in Austin! I first tried them at a food festival downtown and have been wanting to go to Highland Lanes bowling for the burgers! Even if you don’t want to bowl, go when there’s league play so you can watch some impressive bowlers. But, back to the food, you order at the counter and food is ready quickly. We ordered the infusion with bacon and patty melt, the two most popular burgers. Sooo good, the flavors are excellent. I wanted more out of the tots and fries because they were kind of bland but I’m not letting them deter from the burger! Go try one right now!!

This place is honestly roach-infested. Every time I've stopped by while bowling, I've seen roaches in the kitchen area/on the counters, near the bread, and even on the walls. It's not just one or two... it's clearly a regular problem. It's honestly scary that food is being prepared around that. Management doesn't seem to be addressing it at all. For the prices they charge, the quality and cleanliness should be way better. I won't be coming back and I wouldn't recommend anyone else risk it either! Zero stars easily.

Definitely five stars for atmosphere. It’s in a bowling alley. Could there be a better location for a grill called Lebowski’s? Nope. My buddy got a burger called The Dude, which is just a single cheeseburger. I got The Walter, which is a double cheeseburger. I got a side of tots and my buddy got waffle fries (who orders that when tots are an option? Gonna get him some help). The burger was fantastic, as were the tots. I got a Shiner Bock from the bar next door and it was a perfect meal to enjoy whilst watching everyone bowling on a Saturday afternoon. Some people claim that this is the best burger in Austin. I don’t know about that, but it is a damn tasty burger. I loved it.

Tasty burgers that lived up to the hype, but a little too small for the price which didn't include fries or tots. The fries were good as were my friend's tots, but for $2.25 a pop we expected more of them. Small, medium and large drinks but you have to pay for refills. Lebowskis offers tasty, fresh food, with great customer service. I will eat here again and look forward to it, although I would like to get a little more bang for the buck on my next visit. 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐

Great burgers and fries! Uodate: They charge for drink refills now ($1) which is a bummer considering you pay $2 for a small 16 Oz. cup full of ice and a splash of soda. At least offer a 1 refill minimum before you charge $1.

This place is amazing... I didn't realize it was in the bowling alley. But I ordered and sat at the bar. The bartender was amazing as I waited for my food. I ordered to go but that didn't last when they brought it out. Juicy burger with all the trimmings. Pictures say it all.

It's a timeless classic here at highland lanes. Menu is actually pretty diverse and has some great options. We had just seasoned fries and sodas this trip, but we have had burgers and chicken strips previously and they rocked. You order at counter and the they give you a pager that beeps when your food is ready. They are super friendly and the food came out quick on a busy busy Saturday night. The counter is clean and easy to access in middle of alleys.

I'm going to be sad when the bowling alley that Lebowski Grill is located inside of, finally closes in the next year. But in the meantime this is one of my favorite burgers in Austin! The Inferno is my go to burger here, with grilled onions, jalapeño, pepper jack, jalapeño ranch, and i have them hold the lettuce cause that just messes with the goodness. The french fries here are the best around with a good amount of seasoning on thick crunchy steak fries. My second choice is the Pablano! There is just something about hanging in the bowling alley while you wait for the order to be ready. It takes me back to my childhood. The sounds and smells...

This grill in a bowling alley used to be wonderful, but has definitely lost its touch. We ordered The Dude, The Dude with bacon, and the grilled chicken Buffalo Dude. The burgers weren't juicy and they didn't give us the bacon we paid for. The grilled chicken was extremely dry, and there was no flavor in the Buffalo Dude, not even from the sauce. It was just a big gooey melty mess. The chili cheese tots also lacked flavor and was poured directly into the same platter as the sandwich which just made a huge mess. There's also no refills on fountain drinks or tea, so the three sips you get amongst the mountain of ice is all you'll have to wash everything down.

Grill offering fast food, drinks as well as a lounge serving alcohol. 4 stars because the lounge was out of glasses and could only serve shots or bottled beer/white claw. Staff was helpful & patient when explaining the cup situation!

Been wanting to try this location for a while and did not disappoint! Burgers and sides were large delicious and flavorful. Frito pie burger and infusion with bacon were on point. Chili and cheese topping on the totes was worth the calories with delicious waffle cut fries as well. Staff was friendly and cranking out food as they were slammed with orders for good reason. It's in a bowling alley so don't expect fancy but def not needed with food this amazing.

We made our 3rd trip here when we heard it got a lease extension to give the Frito Burger another try. As Shana points out the idea of a Frito Pie Burger is unique and had to be included in Finding Frito. We returned here as our first 2nd try since again it will possibly be closing soon and the previous time we went some other stuff happened to put a damper on the day. This time the bar area was closed, which was a bummer. Your ordered your beers from the front desk. That is weird but they did have Not your Fathers Root Beer which was good. We got the Frito Pie Burgers and fries and had to sit out in the main area. It was very busy, I was glad to see the bowling alley getting a ton of business. The grill was not busy at the time we went. So now to the differences from previous visit: They were faster this time, last time it took so long we thought we missed them calling our name. This one was much faster. But the burger wasn't as good. It was dryer and had less of everything, made it easier to eat for sure but just not as good. The fries were still good but some were getting cold fast. Overall this second visit kind of matches the first, they were better in some ways and a let down in others. Still overall worth the time.

Went to the west gate location, food was horrible and the service was worse. Ordered the Texas Philly to go and it came out for an in house order. The "dude" who took my order was a slob and a jerk when I asked for it to go. The food was horrible and I threw it away after 1 bite.

This no frills grill is located inside Highland Lanes and serves up a thick and juicy chicken sandwich. The friendly staff makes this even more of a gem!

If you're looking for a damn good burger... Lebowski's Grill is not to be overlooked!! Came here for lunch and we're really impressed with the food presentation and all the flavors that went with it! Most can people can relate that food at a bowling alley good, greasy, delicious, aka Naughty Food!! And Lebowski's is all that and then some!! It's located inside of Highland Lanes bowling alley, which is cool because even though you're just there to eat lunch on your lunch break other people are enjoying their day by bowling at 11:00 a.m. in the daytime. It's cool because it's a feeling of nostalgia from our childhood, all the smells of a bowling alley, amf the clacking of pins and people chattering in the background. Aside from the food, it's an entire experience!

In light of recent news about Highland Lanes moving locations, I have to say that aside from the classic game of bowling what I'm going to miss most is the damn near perfection of Lewbowsi's Grill burgers. I don't think anyone knows what a true diner burger is until they've had one. I was immediately brought back to my childhood having a burger with my great grandfather and great grandmother and it was insane the sense of nostalgia it brought me. Lewbowski's Grill has won multiple awards and accolades including highlights from Yelp, so that alone should be enough to get you to jump in your car and get here while you can. The fries are cooked to perfection, the burgers are made to order, and you can hear the sizzle from your bowling lane if your lucky enough. No over the top antica, no frills or crazy recipes, just some damn juicy and flavorful burgers. My friend and I were in awe as we each took our respective first bites and we ate in utter silence as an homage to what the kitchen served. If burgers were zero calorie I'm pretty sure i'd be here at least once a week if it were up to me lol. Damn now I'm craving a Lebowski's Grill cheeseburger and might have to sacrifice the diet later this week...

We went here tonight for the first time to try their hamburgers. Our hamburgers were RAW and very greasy. The waffle fries were good. $13 for a hamburger and fries with no drink? We won't be back.

We've been to Lebowski's Grill a couple times, and we have to say that we really love this place in addition to Highland Lanes as a whole, especially given the heartbreaking tragedy of Dart Bowl shuttering several years ago. First thing to know: the queso is awesome here. Like, really good. We also love the fries and tots that come out hot and crisp--just not so in love with the ketchup packets since a dispenser would be way easier. The burgers are excellent. Last week, our kiddo had the cheeseburger and the we shared the inferno. They are generous with toppings! While you can tell that these are not fresh meat patties, we still think that they taste good and they were cooked well. We loved the spiciness level of the inferno. We've also had their taco salad, which is more like hamburger meat crumbled up, but it's served with a ton of greens and some decent toppings, and the fact that a salad exists at all at this place is pretty sweet. What else to know? Folks are friendly. You can barely hear/understand your name when they call it out over the mic, so be vigilant. No beers on draft. We've also sometimes come here when there have been no lanes available because of bowling leagues that basically take over the whole place. But we really like Highland Lanes and were happy to hear that it's going to be living another day at least for the near future. Four nostalgic and grateful stars.

Poor customer service. Unfriendly staff. Just an all around unpleasant experience. Food was decent at best.

I hope y'all find a new place to open when Highland lanes close. Y'all have great food.

Do yourself a favor and treat yourself to a burger from Lebowski's Grill inside Highland Lanes bowling alley. I had the inferno burger with bacon and it was one of the best and juiciest burgers I've had in Austin. The tots were cooked to perfection. The service was fast and friendly. You order at the counter and they call your name on the loud speaker so you can play your game while you wait. The ambiance was vintage all the way. It does actually remind you of the bowling alley from the movie The Big Lebowski, which just happens to be my favorite movie. This is just a bonus because the burgers are so good that I'd come back anyway. I think I'll try the Donny next time, which is a deep fried, bacon wrapped hot dog covered with chili and queso. Yum!

This is definitely a bowling alley. Old school. And this grill has the best food of any bowling alley I've been to. Not only that. The burger is probably the best burger in Austin. $9 for the basic burger makes it the best deal in town for the price. Friendly staff quick service.

Holy crap, they have excellent burgers here! I don't even bowl, I just come here from time to time for a burger. If they can do this inside a bowling alley, then why can't all burgers be this good?

The experience I had here was enough to ruin my entire day and leave a really bad taste in my mouth. I came with my friend but I ordered first. I initially ordered mozzarella sticks and one of their popular burgers, and the cashier asked if I wanted ranch or marinara. I said ranch. When I came to pick up my mozzarella sticks, I asked if I could also have marinara sauce. The rude woman who was grilling rudely told me that there's a reason why they ask if customers want ranch or marinara because you have to pay for the sauces. The cashier was friendlier and gave it to me anyways. I also ordered my friend's burger at the same time and when I came to pick up my first burger order, I asked a male worker if they charge for jalapeno ranch. The woman grilling burgers overheard this conversation, and with the worst attitude and tone, she said to me, "Ma'am. If you wanted sauces, you should've ordered them when you ordered your food. We make all our sauces in-house." That's crazy because I see you all using Olive Garden salad dressing. I paid nearly $45 for my burgers and my mozzarella sticks. I was merely asking the second time because I figured they did charge for their sauces and I had no issue with that, but this woman thought I was trying to skimp out on a few dollar sauces? Like are you kidding me? You can let me know once that you typically charge for sauces and if I'm asking again with the intention of paying for another sauce, how about you not give me attitude? I will never be coming back again and I recommend the lady check her attitude and tone next time.

Bowling, beer, and burgers. Please tell me, WHAT better combination is there than that!? When you think of bowling alley food, let me guess what you conclude to: grease, slop, cold food. Lebowski is the OPPOSITE and honesty some of the best burger I've had here in Austin. I would've taken a photo but I was too busy slamming strikes. My husband and I split the Poblano & The Dude for a little variety. We both finished them easily with a side of fries. There was a ton of flavor stacked in the Poblano with their chipotle lime mayo and the fries were hot and crispy. Our friends got the tots and they were equally as fresh. Love having that selection, because tots are few and far within. Do yourself a favor and try them out!! Come hungry for a delicious burger and then work it off with some bowling fun after!

Food came out quickly and was hot. Downfall, the woman working kitchen was not the friendliest and I found a long hair wrapped in my Frito pie.

What a big surprise this place was. It was on the "Best Chicken Sandwich" in Austin List and it didn't disappoint.

I had their Poblano burger with a side of fries today with my buddy. We also tried their mozzarella sticks. I hate to say it, but the hamburger patty was heavy on salt. The fries and mozzarella sticks were okay but the motz wasn't even melted. Don't know if I'll return. Possibly if I go bowling here.

Dude honestly super bummed about my last visit. Usually super great, got the same order we always get 3 Walters 2 chicken 1 regular bacon and cheese. I had 3 issues this go around 1. They over charged me(any extra 10 dollars I checked past receipts for the exact same order) 2. After overcharging me, the guy said I had to request that I wanted cheese and bacon when I saw him put the sandwiches in their boxes plain, (which I had done on the phone and been charged for), and 3. The food was off that night. Now I'll take one out of these 3 things and say ehh I like this place enough that I won't complain about it. But all three, and when I called in the lady was rude to me, kinda left a bad taste in my mouth. Which sucks because this is/was one of me and my roommates favorite burgers. 2 stars because it wasn't the worst thing I've ever eaten, and I finished it because I was hungry.

I have to say this is to me the most fun and good-tasting "greasy spoon" in Austin. Where else can you go for some sumptuous fast food that takes you back to the good old days and get to watch the bowling alley at the same time? I generally steer away of the less-than-healthful foods, especially that that is fried as well as that full of sugar for instance, but when you want to have a bit of that tasty food that used to be so common at the cheap diners across the country, this is it. Atmosphere is very casual and relaxed, the food still pretty affordable and even if you're a bit of a health nut like me you just can't help but enjoy sneaking out to a place like this from time to time. I just now looked at the current prices and they have gone up -- a lot -- since I was there (before the masks and lockdowns), but what can ya do?

These are really good burgers. Arguably the best burger in town. They balance between greasy diner and upscale quality. The buns are soft and brioche like. The burger meat has a good texture. A bit of grill crunchy sear, a bit of soft fresh burger meat. The tots are crispy and not at all oily. The dude abides.

TLDR: One of the best burger places in Austin, bar none. A hidden gem you need to try. Anybody on Yelp ever watch the show X-Files from way back when? Because they need to do an episode investigating the mystery of how a place this good got attached to a bowling alley. That's not a slam against bowling alleys, mind you. It's just that after eating here, I would be in too much of a calorie coma to bowl! Like other Yelpers, I was drawn by the high ratings and number of reviews of this place. I arrived and tried the Poblano, which is a one-third pound patty served with lettuce, tomato, onions, pepper jack cheese, grilled Poblano peppers, and a homemade chipotle mayo. Whoever dreamt up this combo knows their flavors. Easily, this is one of the best 'balanced' burgers I've had, in that neither the smoky peppers, the zippy mayo, or the zippier cheese dominate and blot out the beef or the rest of the burger's ingredients. Extra kudos for wherever they get their buns. They're not sponge dough and not brioche, but something in between which has a nice feel, especially at this price point. Extra Extra kudos for the perfectly done fries, served with (from what I can tell) large-grain sea salt, pepper, and spices that remind me of Old Bay seasoning. I'll definitely be back to try the rest of their menu, which seems to have a surprisingly wide variety of delicious stick-to-your-arteries food. Pro Tip: Lebowski's is located just inside the Highland Lanes bowling alley. If you don't see the sign high up on the building, don't worry - just park, walk in, and look to your left. This place scores a 5 out of 5 on the 'CTJ Scale', as noted below. 5 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Jesus good. Would be OK passing away after finishing a plate here. 4 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Mary good. Would be OK being seen eating here by Mother Mary. 3 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Joseph good. Would be OK having a beer here with Jesus' Dad. 2 out of 5 stars: Come-to-the-Apostles good. Meh. Wouldn't have my last supper here. 1 out of 5 stars: Come-to-Nobody good. I wouldn't have my penultimate supper here, either.

Absolutely, hands down the best burger in Austin. Years ago, El Arroyo used to refer to their hamburger as the "Bowling Alley Burger." I now know why this is a label of distinction. There's a reason why Lebowski's is now my favorite burger. It's the perfect combination of the greasy, guilty pleasure of an old fashioned burger, but with the thick beefy patty of a finer restaurant. When you combine that with speed approaching fast food, friendly service, and surprisingly good tater tots (the grease was almost non-existent), you overlook the Pepsi products and eating at a table in a bowling alley. And the next time I need a burger craving satisfied, I'll be ordering mine at the bowling alley again.

Although not a gourmand by any means, I do consider myself a bonafide burger FIEND. As such, I was pointed to this joint by a good friend and fellow burger lover. Throwing caution to the wind, I ordered an inferno with bacon. In a word: WOW. In more words, FREAKIN' WOW. The beef patties are generous in size and the grill gives them a really nice char. The jalapenos did their part, as did the creamy pepper jack cheese. Add to this an insane portion of fries and a large icy soda to wash everything down, and that's what I call a perfect meal. Is it weird to visit a bowling alley "just for a burger?" Do yourself a favor and try one!

Just your neighborhood burger joint in a bowling alley, serving up tasty buns, delictuable meat and pleasantly seasoned fries! I hear the tots are what the people come for but by the time I dined in, they were sold out. Womp womp. If you are looking to keep it basic but flavorful - this is a spot I gladly recommend! If you're looking for the crem de la crem though - I just think it's good to set expectations: Food Service: Much faster than I had expected on a Friday night. The front desk crew were pleasant, patient and ready with the suggestions as a first time visitor! You order at the window and when it's ready, they call your name over the intercom for pick up at the window. It can get kind of loud inside so be sure to keep an ear out! Seating: While there ARE plenty of seats to choose from, they aren't solely dedicated the burger joint. As many mentioned before - this is also a bowling alley so you might have to share. You may have to scope for a seat but it's the nature of the beast if you want to dine in. They do have a bar / restaurant area but there aren't very many tables or chairs to choose from. Bar service: Damn near non existent during my visit but good luck. Homie wanted to make coins by serving those in line at the bar window first. Logistically I'm sure it's faster, but share the service! Sat at the bar for almost an hour with no interaction from the bartender whatsoever. Yes - I could have gotten up from my seat at the bar to walk around and get in the bar line but nah. Passed on having any brews with my burger due to that inconvenience but hoping next time I dine in they will have someone else helping out that can help with the drink orders! My recommendation? Get in the bar line to get your drinks FIRST, find a table, then order!

Love the burgers here. They're so freaking good. The inferno is flavor-packed and is full of pickled jalapenos and grilled onions. The dude is also great, and the cashier recommended the dude with garlic pepper mayo to me so I have to try that next time I go. Tator tots tossed in Cajun spices taste amazing. Tots aren't soggy. Fried pickle chips with jalapeno ranch, can't go wrong there. Visit for dinner, whether you wanna bowl or not. Staff is friendly and it's not super busy on a weekday at 5/6p. Highly recommend!

got lunch drop from this restaurant and the container the hamburger was in looked like it came from the bottom of a dumpster. that's a fail right off the bat. the inside was not as dirty. can't trust this place with a container looking like that.

Lebowski's is some good eats for a bowling alley! (You might also contract diabetes just from being in proximity but that's neither here nor there) The orders come out quick, hot, and fresh. I ordered the chips and queso and poblano burger. The chips and queso are your average rotel but still do the trick. My poblano burger packed a punch of heat and flavor but I found it a tad on the dry side. I personally didn't care for the buns. They're light and airy but I just wanted to indulge a little more than that. The fries are show stopping though and should be a staple in your order! This is an Austin staple that paired with bowling is bound to be a good time.

I've been here twice. Loved both orders. First time I had the patty melt on Texas toast. Tots were perfect and better than the fries. Second time I had the Philly cheese steak. Delicious , greasy but best of all well seasoned. Also everything's under $10!

Hmmm, what to think of a burger joint inside a bowling alley off Burnet...? To be honest, I was not expecting much from this place, but after a group of friends had a gathering here I thought to myself "mayhaps I shouldn't judge a burger house by its roof". I am so glad I gave this place the benefit of the doubt! Their chili burger was super delish and their tots were perfect little food dreams of crispy and grease. They even have a little bar where you can get beer and/or hard liquor. And for $11 w/tax and tip, no complaints. I don't know that I would have reason to come back here w/o said friends, but if I were to get another invite, I wouldn't say "no". Also, the staff, super laid back and did a stellar job of literally explaining everything on the menu I asked about and making taste-preference recs that were on point!

I cant even tell you how long this place has been book marked in my "Burgers to Try" collection...but it landed right in our lap when just left our appointment and the stomach was growling...and a burger sounded good!...Lebowskis is a perfect fit for a bowling alley...and although there were plenty of people bowling, there also were plenty just there to eat..Started with chips and queso....was ok....wish they would have had salsa....I went with a Double Inferno Burger with Tots, and the wife just had to have the Chicken Fried Steak Sandwich....Took awhile for the food to come out, but thats cool with us, as everything is fresh made....which means everything was hot....Burger was fat, not as spicy as one may thing, or I have already destroyed my taste but...bun was fresh, veggies crisp.....and you just dont see tots on menus anymore...they were great.....Wife loved the Chicken Fried Sandwich....Very Thinly sliced ribeye make for a very tender steak sandwich....Fries were piping hot and crisp...All around a good visit...we were eyeing some of the Bowling Specials on the Weekend....Need to load up the grand kids for a day of fun and some lunch.

Best burger I have had in Austin and that's saying a lot. The fries rocked as well. And the service was good

I don't know if this is a hidden gem but it shouldn't be. Burger was amazing waffle fires . It was a great experience. And it's hidden inside the bowling alley. Don't let that fool you please walk in and get an amazing burger from Barrett.

DO NOT GET THE QUESO HERE. Bad customer service from the owner Helen is her name. I told her the Queso tasted wired to me and it's was all clumpy when I poured it on to my chips. I showed her the chips and Queso I had and she said she been serving it all day and no one has made a complaint and told me she's the owner and will not give me back my refund of $8. I told her so there's basically nothing you can do for me she said sorry no. I asked her when's the last time u made that Queso she had to think about it and say 2:00pm. I told her show me proof where's the time and date on that container. She said not every place does that so she don't. Helen said the Queso tasted find to her so no refund. Not once for great customer service, she did not show any kind. As long as it tasted good to her, you are not getting a refund. She took my plate didn't care to offer me a new one but offer me back my plate and I said I don't want that clumpy nachos but let me take a pic of it and she threw it in the trash. If you look at the reviews the most recent ones they're all bad also some one found hair in there Queso two days ago and say it wasn't melted properly. If you look closely at the pictures for health inspection is out of date as well. I will be definitely reporting this. The bowling there is gate this is just about the food and the customer service of the owner.
