Have y’all had Lebanese food before? No? I have!! So, I found a spot in Rockville Maryland that’s family owned, & authentic!! I actually had a good time trying new food!! Let’s GO!! . Where I am: LebTav (multiple locations) . Location: 1629 Rockville Pike , Rockville @congressionalplaza . Items Reviewed: DELICIOUS. Their Shwarma Rolls ($6.75 with beef, pomegranate, & labneh-a strained yogurt). Good, I just needed a tip more flavor with these. DELICIOUS. Their Fries ($6.50 with a garlic dip). The fries were fries, but dipped in that garlic dip…LIKE THAT!! STAMP!! Their Traditional Platter ($14.95 hummus, grape leaf, kibbeh-a beef stuffed pastry, falafel, baba ganoush-roasted eggplants, & tabule-a parsley, tomato , & onion salad). The eggplant was DELICIOUS, the salad, & hummus were STAMPED, the falafel, & grape leaf were DECENT, & the kibbeh was LIKE THAT!! STAMP!! Their Salmon Salad Bowl ($17 with crispy seasoned salmon, & a spring mix salad with feta cheese, lemon, & house dressing). Nicely flavored crisp salmon, with a hearty salad!! STAMP!! Taverna Platter ($15.50 with beef, spiced rice, hummus, & a side salad). Well seasoned beef, mildly spicy rice, & tasty hummus!! STAMP!! Their Lamb & Chicken in Rice Bowl ($14.50 with grilled lamb & chicken meat, rice, peppers, pitas, & sauces). Get this!! Traditionally spiced proteins, well grilled, especially good with their house pitas!! STAMP!! The Drinks (Their housemade lemonade $3.50, & their Jalab drink-a drink made from dates, with dried raisins at the bottom, & almonds-$2.50). Fresh lemonade, & that Jalab drink was super sweet, thick, & oddly tasty with the raisins!! STAMP!! Their Dessert ($3.50 for their baklava-a phyllo dough pastry with pistachios, & honey, & $2.50 for their Kanafa-a crispy buttery pastry). Both of these desserts were fresh, sweet, & well made!! . Authentic Lebanese food, I got the “pick your platter” with rice, beef shawarma, hummus, tabbouleh, and kibbeh. It came with pitta bread and a delicious garlic sauce. Highly recommended!

What a terrific experience. Maroun the area manager was amazing. He treated us like family. He explained everything on the menu and gave us delicious suggestions. He checked on us all the time and made sure our visit was perfect We feel very blessed to have met Maroun. The labneh and hummus are my favorite but honestly all the food was outstanding. The chicken shawarma was so flavorful. I recommend getting a sampler to try a variety of things. Please do not hesitate to try this place. Run don't walk.... this place is top notch in our book. Absolutely NO! I should’ve listened to my gut when placing my order. Chicken was absolutely dry shreds of skin. No actual chicken meat pieces. It was simply disgusting. I asked the guy if they had lemonade and he said yes, ended up giving me pineapple juice instead. Never going back. Terrible customer service.

I had a delicious beef shawarma platter and I must that it was so delicious. The pita that came with it was one of the best pita bread that I have ever had. The taste was so unique but so very good. Everything about my meal was great from the savory rice to the tender meat. Plus it was very healthy.

Service was impeccable and Food was all delicious - really enjoyed our visit here for lunch as always. Hummus was great and the lamb perfectly cooked. Garlic dip is the best too! We’ll be back!

This fast food place has pretty good falafel & shawarma sandwiches. The sauce bar by the register is outstanding. Try the yogurt one is delicious. The chicken shawarma is a bit plain, but the whole point is to pair it with your favorite sauce such as garlic, yogurt, tahini or the many more options they have. The tabouli salad was good and their warm pita didn’t disappoint. If it is a nice day make use of their outside sitting.

Attention do not eat here. I repeat, do not eat here! I eat at Lebanese Taverna all the time off of Connecticut Ave NW and the food is amazing. But this establishment located in congressional plaza, is not welcoming for African-Americans. I was giving burnt pieces from the chicken , just the skin. No actual chicken breasts. I was nasty. I am disgusted at this establishment. Please take your money somewhere else . See pictures below.

This was a nice eatery un the corner of the shopping center to stop in for a quick, cheap, delicious dinner. They have counter service and a variety of seating (booths, high tables, but only the counter in the front window might be able to accommodate a wheelchair). The falafel salad was very filling and came with two hot loaves (I could only eat one, I was so full). Gender-nonspecific restrooms in the back. Free parking in the big lot.

The food is always good when we go there but on the pricy side. Once your food is ready, someone will bring it to you, which is nice.

First time in, we always pass it on our way to a Torta or a chopt. We were greeted by a nice man, he explained the menu and we ordered..we tried a bit of everything and it was very good. Even the lentil soup was very tasty and I hate lentils! Nothing was overly salty and everything tasted fresh, they have a bar with condiments to spice up your plate. My only warning is that the chili condiments were SPICY so go light and the white paste that looks like mayonnaise...try it is garlicky and goes very well with the huge pieces of pita bread! Just don't over do it...you will loose friends

It's pretty rare to have a service experience so bad that it convinces you never to go back somewhere - especially if it's a place with food you like, have been before, and would otherwise patronize. But after today, boy, will I never be back here. And neither should you. The tastiness of the food? Totally irrelevant if you can't get it. I could go on, but I'm still trying to calm down. The hostility was unreal. Have I mentioned that you should never go here? Don't go here. For real.

I'm eating for 2 and was craving chicken shawarma and drove out to get it before they closed last night. Arrived at 8:35pm (Thursday) and they said, "we're closed, closed!" The sign in the window says their open and everywhere online their hours are listed as closing at 9pm. They just didn't want to take another order and wanted to leave early.

Very meh. Right now this is set on Yelp as three stars and that is spot on. I usually try to list out a pros and cons thing in my review but the place was so average, there's not much to say. * Service - no issues * Food - Falafel sandwich and Chef's Platter, none of it bad, but not good. * Price - If it was a bit cheaper, I could see coming back to see if they just had an off night, but it was too high.

I've came to this place twice before this last time and our food has been great. This last time, I was shocked when I opened my salmon bowl, a flat salmon, one tomato and one pickled turnip. It was a disaster bowl and they forgot the onions and the picked vegetables. I called to ask for the manager and the lady told me he wasn't in until Labor day. I decided what's the point in calling, usually the manager is in a bad mood so I'll just give them a review on Yelp. Jeez the cooks wait until the manager is gone to half do the food. I recently had wonderful food and service by catering from LebTav Congressional Plaza. They worked with me and my budget to create the perfect menu of copious hors d'oeuvres for 60 people at a large event my club was sponsoring. The food was delicious (as usual), and the service exceptional. They wound up including complimentary dishes, utensils, plates, etc., arrived ahead of schedule, and helped set up my party. Lovely people and excellent food. I would do it again!

CHICKEN SHAWARMA BOWL $9.75 Lebanese rice, pickled onions, garlic sauce with a pita. Rice was dry and crunchy. Chicken was O.M.G. dry, it hurt going down. Pickled onions were tasty. Pita was the best part of the meal. There is also a sign for the toppings/sauces that says dine in only. Why? Pretty disappointing meal, would not come back.

We went back yesterday to try it again. A mere shadow of what it was. Basically a sandwich shop now. The only positive things were-Nice employees. Facility seemed clean.The Kibbeh--better than they've been for a long time, less salt, nice herbs, not overdone. Their Pita was a disgrace--inedible; too hard. My husband said they probably save the fresh pita for the sandwiches (Shawarma). My husband got a few other dishes and noted they were very small portions comapred to what they were.

Each of the bowls were delicious, but my favorite is the Shawarma Bowl since the meat is tender and juicy! Definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for a quick bite of Lebanese food!

I loved to get the traditional platter; tabbouleh, hummus, baba ganouj, falafel, kibbe, and a stuffed grape leaf served with delicious fresh bread.

I was walking around DTSS and needed something to hold me over until my next appointment. I thought to myself what's the thing I love the most when I'm in the Middle East. The answer was undoubtedly hummus and pita bread. This was good for a drop in experience and the staff was overly pleasant. That's a good thing. They were preparing platters for a few catering events, but they took the time to get my food out immediately. My favorite part was the hot bread. It reminded me of being in Israel. I look forward for coming back for more middle eastern food.

No, just no...they're con artists who steal your money in broad daylight! I asked for one sandwich and they sold me 2 - are you that desperate for money? And the food quality...how old was the chicken? Do you care about the people you serve who support your business or only about making $$$ - I'm definitely not supporting you and I hope others read this so they know how you treat your customers.

I have no idea what this was called is chicken , hummus and salad , i never had lebanese food before to compare with but i must say im disappointed :( The chicken was very dry so dry it was hard to swallow, the rice was okay but not spiced like the menu said it's actually no flavor at all, i guess and the salad was okay and the hummus tasted good so like i said i am not very happy with that chicken. Perhaps chicken is not their best thing in the menu I don't know but this will be the last time i will eat here.

One of my old favorites, Lebanese Taverna, recently shutdown in order to move to a new location within the same Congressional Plaza shopping center with a new name and concept; LebTav, a fast casual Lebanese restaurant. I will admit that I was somewhat apprehensive having heard that the Annapolis location recently made the same change with mixed results. Despite that I was in the mood for falafel and went in with an open mind and hungry stomach. If I have one take away it is that this is about cost cutting. The menu has been greatly reduced down to sandwiches, salads and bowls where you choose a protein (falafel or a meat) and a handful of mezze dishes. Gone is the halal roast chicken, various Lebanese entrees, alcohol and the large mezze platters that were great to share with a big group. Staff also feels greatly reduced with 4 people working a Friday night. They seemed a bit overwhelmed, less friendly and, despite the "fast casual" concept, I think service was possibly faster at the old place. To be fair, this is a new restaurant and they may just need time to adjust to the changes. The interior is nicely furnished though much more contemporary than the original. Unfortunately the cozy lighting of the old place has been replaced with sterile hospital style fluorescent squares. As for the food it tasted no different but the portions seemed smaller. I was especially disappointed with the size of the falafel sandwich considering what you get at Amsterdam Falafel or Oh Mama Grill for a similar price. Again, I have to ask if the change is all about lowering costs of operation. Overall I wasn't totally displeased, I would go back, a solid 3 stars for "A-ok". Still, I'm quite saddened to loose my full menu Lebanese restaurant, especially when there are already fast casual Mediterranean spots like Roti and Cava around.

1st visit. You wait in line, order at the counter and are given a number. Once you pay you sit down and they bring the food to you.The food was very good however the staff could have been friendlier. I enjoyed the salads and dips + chicken schwarma. Their homemade fresh bread is also excellent. The food was very good, fresh, and healthy. They also have extra sauces if you want.

I'm not so sure about this place. I didn't like my food as much, nor my friends were fully happy with their meals. It's just meh food. Refried falafel? No thanks! I did liked their rice and the chicken kabobs were pretty decent. But the experience overall has me doubting about the number of stars to give to this place. It just felt weird, it seemed unattended, dirty, no napkins available, pushy cashier, i dont know, just not my type of restaurant. Definitely not a come back.

****1/31/2020**** 3.75 stars I've been craving tobouleh for the last few weeks. I've been to the full service Lebanese Taverna in Tysons Corner and DC but never have been to the "cafe" version. I ordered take out on a Friday afternoon around 3 pm. There were 3 people in the kitchen area. The lady that took my order was very nice and professional. I ordered a chicken schwarma bowl and a pick 5 platter: tobouleh, kibbeh, falafel, lebneh and spiced rice. Both the spiced rice and lebneh were new for me. Spiced rice isnt "spicy" but rather with warm spices and almonds. Lebneh is a little thick for my taste with a strong finish. I actually liked it better for part of my breakfast this morning. I enjoyed my pick 5 platter. I don't eat chicken but was told the chicken schwarma bowl "was good". Expressive, right!? Not. The pita-two pieces were fresh and puffy while the other two pieces were less fresh and a little hard for my taste. They have pub style tables, booths and a few stools in the back near the kitchen area. There was only one person ahead of me and the wait wasn't too long-less than 10 minutes. Prices seem reasonable for this area of town.

My first time going to this restaurant... Ordered the 1/4 Rotisserie Chicken Platter with Rice and Roasted Potatoes. Also got Chicken Samosas. Went here for lunch with my coworkers at around 12:20pm on a Friday afternoon. Let's say it was pretty packed! Parking was a hassle at the shopping center and finding a seat inside was a chore as well. But the food was very tasty! Really enjoyed eating lunch at this restaurant. However, likely to go to the location at Rockville Town Center since that place is a little less crowded.

My intention was a 5-star review - the food definately deserves 5 stars. We got sandwiches, and a side of falafel and m'saka. The falafel was beyond outstanding! The sandwiches were awesome - they only reason for the lower stars was being charges for item I never ordered. I should have looked at my reciept, however, when the cashier read my order back to me he said ("an order of hummus") I said no I did not order hummus, he siad ya ok - well guess what - I paid for hummus and it's not cheap. So just be mindful of your reciept and enjoy the food.

I love the food at Lebtav. I always purchase and even had a friend from Capital heights try it out. She loved it. We had the chicken platter & chicken sharwama. I recommend

Very busy and robust business. The atmosphere is good for a quick lunch. Came with friends today for lunch and followed the suggestion of my host. Nice and clean atmosphere the tables are small and very close to each other. Nice crowd and the noise level was minimal at best. The food was light, healthy, the grape leaves were delicious and flavorful. I would like to return to explore the menu for something a little more filling.

Got the gyro - the fillings were generous and fresh. There's plenty of outdoor seating in front of the restaurant.

So good and great service! I don't recommend ordering through grub hub or other services as there are some errors but if you go straight to the source, you won't be disappointed. Literally everything is good, especially the schwarma rolls!

Love this place for a quick, healthy meal. The Olivia's Platter is my go to. I'm always welcomed by helpful staff and they're open to answer any questions about the food. They offer a tasty pomegranate ginger ale that's extra refreshing. Don't let the negative reviews stop you from trying this location for great food, they seem to always have friendly regulars, enjoying the meals. I love their dressings and sauces.

I ordered Lebanese Taverna through Door dash. After having the Anna's platter twice I decided to write a review. The Anna's platter comes with shawarma or chicken shawarma, rice, salad and hummus. I like that they add the bread to go with your hummus and plenty of it. I haven't been disappointed with my food. The salad has a yummy vinegerette dressing. I cant remeber yhe name of the appetizer but it was almost like a lamb and beef egg roll. That was so delicious and would recommend to all.

This was my first time there and im not impressed at all. The service was ok the things i didnt like was the food, pretty kich everything was kinda sour.( too much vinegar) I tried four items and they were sour include the grape leaves. I love sour but when everyrhing is sour it becomes sour. I have had middle eastern food before and they weren't that sour...

Yum yum yum! I've been to this location a couple times now and have been nothing but pleased with the experience. I'm a girl who likes to try different places but when I find something that's good, I will be coming back for me and this definitely holds true with Lebanese Taverna. So I've never had Lebanese food before but when my friend who is authentic tells me this is the spot to go for food, I trust her. I always get the traditional platter and they give you a crap load of food. I don't know why I always get this just for myself because each time I do, I sit and wonder why I didnt split it with someone. Their hommus is smooth and tasty and their baba ghanoush is fantastic as well. I could really just order those two things and be happy.The only thing I haven't been able to wolf down has been their grape leaves. Parking is a complete beezy at this place so bring your patience and bring your wallet.

Great place! Best shawarma we've had in America so far! In England there is many places that serve shawarma that is to die for but in America it is so much harder to come by a good shawarma. This place competes with any shawarma place in England! Chicken shawarma here is awesome!! Great customer service and great food! No brainer folks

Ate here for lunch with a friend for the first time and won't be going back any time soon. I ordered a shawarma salad which I do not recommend. Came with salty chicken & salty olives & salty feta cheese over nutritionless iceberg lettuce. Ugh! There are so many better lettuces that have some nutrition. The owner/manager/person who took our order was somewhat rude and uncompromising. My friend wanted 1/4 chicken but with 2 pieces of dark meat. She was required to order 2 completely separate orders to get what she wanted & struggled to make herself understood. The Diet Coke was good.

Lebanese Taverna in Rockville @lebanesetaverna I had to travel to Rockville today at 4am. I was told of my trip yesterday night. Although I was disappointed about getting up early in the morning (330am), I could not stop thinking and where was I going to have lunch. First of all, I had never been in this restaurant. I have visited the chain of restaurants but never in this location. They hold, however, a very different style of serving. The other locations are a bit more fancier, better looking spaces. This one is a cafeteria style. You order to a cashier, and they call you or bring it to your table. The "crew" of the restaurant is all latino. Everybody, I believe, is from Salvador. They are completely bilingual, and they have the latino charm. My food was really delicious. I was planning to eat the lentils and the falafel but I couldn't. The portions are oversized; following the american traditions. The only thing that was missing was the recently prepared homemade pita bread. Although we had bread on our table, I do not think it was recently baked. In all, this restaurant has a very complete Lebanese-original-recipes menu. I have been eating Lebanese food all my life. I have been in Lebanon three times, so far, this restaurant has nothing to envy. Withal, I still prefer the classy chairs on a fancy mat kind of place.

I used to go here often but recent changes to menu have made the experience worse. There used to be a platter "Olivia's platter" that allowed you to select a few options and customize a nice lunch. This has been removed which has resulted in the remaining options increasing their price. Pls bring his option back.

Probably one of the worst experiences I've had at any restaurant ever. First of all, we had a gift card for $25 dollars, we used $20 to pay for our food. I went back to buy an Ayran Yogurt drink and I tried to use the gift card I had and the cashier had an issue with the card, I don't know why it wasn't working. There was enough money on the card but every time she swiped the card it didn't take the card amount, even though there was enough money on the card. The cashier refused to be helpful and I ended up using my credit card. Second of all, the customer service was horrible and uninformed. We asked what other drinks they had, and the cashier would speak to us but speak so quietly that we couldn't even understand what she was saying. When our food arrived it was not hot at all, they managed to cook the meat in the shawarma until it was rubbery and flavourless, the salad was soggy and it looked like it had been sitting out all day waiting for it to be served, the chicken was dry and flavourless as well, and the grape leaves(dolmeh) were obviously opened "fresh" from the can!!! I originally looked forward to eating at this place because the name is so iconic sounding, but I was terribly let down and left without an appetite. You're better off taking your business elsewhere unless you want horrible service and even worse food!!!

Even though we can do kabobs on the grill at home every once in a while I like to get a "Greek-style" kabob. Lebanese Taverna has a chicken kabob platter that is perfect for me. There is the kabob, rice, and a small salad with a delicious dressing, and pita bread. The kabob sits in a red tomato sauce that is simple but I love it. Last time we stopped there we added an appetizer falafel so we got a couple of different sauces and 3 pitas. It was actually enough for us to have lunch that afternoon and for my husband's lunch the next day. The staff who greeted us when we came in to order our carry-out were all very cheerful and friendly. The food was packed well and for carry-out, "fast food" it was probably as good as you're going to get.

We got take out from LebTav for the first time and my husband and I both ordered the chicken shawarma. I cannot tell you how dry the chicken was. We basically got thinly peeled pieces of chicken jerky. I usually get the rotisserie chicken from the Rockville Town Square location and that was fine. I had no idea how terrible the chicken at the Congressional plaza was. Does chicken shawarma have a dressing or sauce at all? Overall, I would not get food from this location again.

YUMMY! The new location has nice outdoor seating and I think they've improved the food, it is so good! I got the pick your own platter and used the freshly baked pita to make mix and match pita pockets - shawarma, hummus, harrisa...babaganoush and tabouleh...you can see the shawarma spits in the back. Meat was magically charred on one side and a tiny bit pink in the middle, had a little tanginess. Owner and staff were also very friendly. I'll be back!

I've been to this place a couple of times... Food is good, but as a diner.. I look for good service too. Both times service here is slow. Today there were three customers in front of me. The cook and looks like the manager or owner standing in the kitchen having a conversation while there are people waiting for food. Not good ... Customer always comes first!

This food is quite possible the grossest take out food I have experienced. I ordered the chicken fetteh to go. Once I got home I was terrible upset at what lay before me. It was dry, bland chicken on top of bland chick peas. It had a side of "yogurt sauce" which tasted like a gelatinous biscuit gravy, and broken, greasy pita bits. I couldn't eat any of it. The entire meal was very "tan". The baba ghanoush was super bitter from too much garlic, and was served with large pieces of super stale pita. They were hard as a rock. I was so surprised as how horrendous the food was, I've been to their "sit down" restaurants and they are at least average, and not disgusting.

We used to frequent Lebanese Taverna at both the Silver Spring and Bethesda locations and it was a solid place to eat. Went to Silver Spring LebTav tonight and it was very, very disappointing. I ordered falafel and it was crumbly and there were barely any toppings or flavor in the sandwich. My husband's falafel salad was even worse, with a huge portion of romaine lettuce, four falafel balls and basically nothing else. The order taker got my order wrong and i noticed it on the receipt before it was served. There was almost no one in the place and no reason for such sloppy customer service. When i pointed out the mistake he didn't apologize but he did tell the kitchen to hold up and gave them the correct order. I'm sad to say going to this place was a big mistake, especially given some of the other options nearby.

I ordered the ouzi bowl, which was pretty good. The rice is mixed with some kind of noodle pellet which pairs really well with it. I also tried the kibbeh, which was dry and not to my liking, and the shawarma rolls, which was surprisingly good and look a lot like spring rolls. The entryway is quite adorable, lined with American candies and Lebanese snacks. The order also came out very fast.

This restaurant relocated from a larger space in Congressional Plaza. Unlike the former location, this place is CRAMPED. Customers are in each other's way as they order, fill their drinks, and get utensils. Speaking of which, there is no more metal flatware and porcelain plates, just disposable utensils and dishes. I used to enjoy relaxing with out of town family and friends at the other place over maybe a nice mezze platter. The current configuration seems designed to encourage you to carry out.

The restaurant sent the wrong order with the DoorDash delivery lady. We didn't realize until she drove away and we texted her that our order was wrong and I also texted her a receipt. The DoorDash delivery lady felt bad and went back to the restaurant and showed them the receipt that we had and the manager refused to fix the wrong order insisting what they had sent was exactly the same thing as what the receipt said but that was completely false. The manager completely denied that they screwed up the order and insisted that the item that we received was what we had asked for. They wouldn't answer the phone and refuse to talk to us when the delivery lady went back. Needless to say that we are going to contact our credit card company and make sure that payment is stopped.

This place is going down. Food quality much worse. The portions for what they charge is really shameful. For teboule and hummus it feels like just a lick and does not justify the price. I had to by three of the teboule to come up with one decent dish. You make your business by people remembering that they were treaty fairly and not scammed. Last time the forgot couple for items from my order so please check before you leave. Since they moved nothing taste the same. Please avoid a very common mistake for any business when you stop caring about your product and not caring for your customers.

Very good service, small portions. Not a fan of the way too bright lighting an somewhat cold looking interior. The old space had much more warmth. Also, someone messed up on the booth spacing. Too tight even for smaller than average people. Okay tasting food. Yogurt sauce was good

Since the pandemic, I have been taking advantage of those restaurants that have outdoor seating. As I prefer vegetarian or seafood, I have found this restaurant to my satisfaction. They have good falafel sandwiches, numerous vegetarian appetizers as well as the Traditional platter. Not the full selection of the other restaurants within the chain is why I gave them a four rather a five star rating.
