L'Ecailler du Bistrot

Fresh seafood like we are under the sea. Top notch wine and hospitality. Highly recommended 🙌 I simply love their spaghetti. Will go again for more flavors!!

I was taken to this seafood restaurant for a business lunch and was very positively surprised. Oysters were super fresh and grilled fish was also very tasty. I'd definitely come back here

Ended up here after not getting a table at next-door Bistrot Paul Bert. Even though it's mainly a seafood restaurant, they do serve the famous filet au poivre, which is very worth a try even if at a whopping EUR 44. They also have a much affordable lunch menu. Staff is as friendly as it can be in Paris, heavily judgemental if the filet is not ordered "saignant" (medium rare) or less. Don't let this discourage you, though, the food is good overall!

Excellent lunch. St Jacques scallops were perfectly cooked with mushrooms. Best bavette I’ve had in life. Cant forget to mention massive paris brest and delicious tarte tatin. The staff was v friendly as well.

Ah, this place. What can I say?!? I had a Parisienne friend tell me to go here for lunch T-Th for exceptionally priced food. I'm thinking this place might have a Michelin star but I'm not positive. For about €20 you can have a started + main or main + dessert. I wasn't thrilled with their dessert but you have such a high bar in Paris. But the main? This is why people go to cooking schools. They had (and I know this sounds weird) mashed potatoes with fish. You never see the fish, it's flaked into the potatoes and the best think I've ever put into my mouth. The 6 oyster starter would be €65 if you came for dinner. This lunch is a fantastic deal and one of our must-goes when in Paris.

Definitely will visit again!!!!! The dishes are lovely and the seafoods are super fresh. Highly recommended for people going to visit Paris!!!

Last dinner in Paris. If you could have one experience before you die come here. Local cafe on the street. Very friendly, very helpful to the Americans. Amy had the Steak au poivre and I had the Sole. Must have the soufflé to end the day.

Little sister to the restaurant next door, don't sleep on it though, it packs a punch! Lobster pasta was unbelievable

A friend was just asking about Paris suggestions, and knowing he's a seafood lover, I suggested L'ecailler du Bistrot Paris. A few years back my partner and I hosted a family gathering here, and decided to scope it out ourselves first. The dozen oysters were 'superbe' and paved the way for a truly outrageously scrumptious fruits-de-mer plateau, accompanied by a delightful house white. Suffice to say, our group of gourmandes were overwhelmed by the fine food, drink and service. Magnifique!

What a lovely find that was literally around the corner from our hotel. If you want great fresh French seafood then this is the place to go. The menu changes based on what's fresh and in season. The smoked salmon starter was fantastic and I tried a fish I'd never had before and it was great. Well done. The only reason I didn't give them 5 stars is because our coffee orders we're screwed up but overall this restaurant was fabulous.

Had a really delicious meal here! I do not eat oysters but our table ordered them and they looked very fresh and everyone said they were good. The menu is strictly seafood so do not come here unless you enjoy various types of seafood! Thankfully I was with locals because I did not see English translations but the staff were very accommodating and helpful. I wanted a regular green salad and they didn't have it on the menu but they made one specially for me : ) My dish was scallops with a wonderful portion of mushroom risotto. They were so fresh and lightly seasoned, not much more to do to make them perfect. The risotto was amazing, I could have eaten that as my entire meal. Also, the raspberry macaroon was to die for!

Nice service and nice meal. We ordered the fried oysters that came with a very green and cilantro flavored oil, a half lobster with creamy sauce and french fries, scallops in a cream sauce with truffled mashed potatoes, and sole meunière with roasted potatoes and a lemon tart The fried oysters were very nice with a light crunch and the oil was also super interesting if you like lemon and cilantro. The lobster was excellent, it had a roasted flavor that was really nice and the sauce that came with it was everything, so so good. The scallops felt super special and the creamy sauce was also super tasty and perfectly cooked. The sole meunière was ok, a little over cooked which was unfortunate. The lemon tart was almost too tart and I love lemon anything but the texture of it was almost like a pudding which was very pleasant. I would order everything but the sole again. They also have amazing butter and an orange colored bread that was great but that cream sauce that came with the lobster was made with unicorns and baby angel tears and I can't wait to go back just for that.

Anyone besides me wander the side streets of Paris humming Bernadette Peters? "Forget where you're from! You're in France--children, come! I'll show you that French joie de vivre!" For my first foray into French cuisine, I gave in to my tourist instincts and found a place referenced in all my cuisine guides: L'Ecailler du Bistrot. Tucked away on Rue Paul Bert, I came steeled against the probability of high prices and limited seating. Happily, a table opened up just as I arrived (around 22h/10pm on a Saturday) and I was able to sit outside with barely any wait. My waiter was incredibly friendly, and strove hard through his broken English and my more-broken French to enlighten me on all the menu highlights. Luckily for both of us, I already (mostly) knew what I wanted: the 3-course lobster formule (€50) which includes an entrée (appetizer) of 12 oysters, plat principal (main course) of 1/2 lobster with pomme frites, and dessert. My gracious waiter let me substitute 6 larger specialty oysters for the 12 in the formule, and alter my dessert choice as well. The oysters I ordered on recommendation of the écailleur (oyster shucker--hoping I spelled that right?) were very meaty, although much more briny than I expected. Not having tried many oysters from Europe yet, though, I will reserve judgement on these for a later date :) Although the wine list only had prices by the bottle, the waiter happily brought a glass of house white (ok, 2 by the end of the meal). My wine palette is grossly underdeveloped, but I thought it paired nicely with both seafood courses. The lobster came out steaming hot with a delicious cream sauce that I ended up sopping up with both the provided bread *and* my fries. The lobster itself seemed a bit dry/overcooked--but again, it may just be that I am unaccustomed to French seafood. I'd definitely try it again to find out :) And a word about fries. This being my first experience with Pomme Frites, I will go ahead and declare them to be the sexier, more sophisticated cousin (or MILF?) of their American counterpart. The outsides were warm, crisp perfection while the texture of the potato within had a buttery silkiness I could never have imagined in the Fast Food Nation. Uber-Nom. For dessert, I substituted in a trio of sorbet (lemon, pineapple, and mango). I'm fairly certain they are made on the premises, as the lemon had enough fresh acidity to rival a Warhead candy. Not quite the palette-cleanser I was anticipating, but the more mellow mango and pineapple evened the dessert out. After a final decaf espresso and a word of thanks to the owner (an energetic woman who was flitting between cutomers at the bistrot and the neighboring Bistrot Paul Bert all night), I was able to amble home in a happy state of seafood sedation :) I will venture to guess that L'Ecailler will be in the regular rotation when I need a night out and/or a seafood fix!

I hadn't been to this spot for a few years and have forgotten how absolutely excellent their oysters are. This time also indulged in 1/2 lobster, and it's no surprise the keep the recipe for their Kari Gosse sauce a guarded secret. It simply rocks. Took a visiting friend there for her birthday and not only was the food excellement (most importantly) the ambience and deco is old school enough to please visitors looking for something 'traditionally' French.

I am a seafood lover, and this place does not disappoint. Winter seafood dining brings out some of the best offerings of briny goodness - oysters and fresh sea urchin are two of my favs. Both were fantastic here. Their Utah Beaches were divine with just a slight spray of lemon juice. The sea urchin are served in the half-shell with a sprinkling of sea salt. A fantastic winter-time treat! Our waitress was great, but a little too eager to practice her English (she spent a year in Australia as a student we learned), as the hubs wanted to practice a little French. But this is a small quibble. She helped choose a phenomenal minerally Riesling to match with our fishies. We tried a meuniere (sole, perhaps?) that was just so-so. However, the Coquilles St. Jacques with mashed potatoes was quite good. After gorging ourselves on seafood and wine, we ordered an apple crumble served with--I kid you not--the best vanilla ice cream I have ever eaten. Such a nice surprise from a seafood restaurant. Definitely one of the best meals we've eaten in Paris, if not Europe.

We showed up without reservations, were told we couldn't be seated, requested a seat at the "bar" (the entrance hallway) and were later told we could have a table (a four person table with one table scooted over 3 inches). Yes! Here's the nice thing about this restaurant: They offer the "traditional" seafood platter AND very distinct "noveau" style seafood dishes, both of which are excellent. The seafood platter has: escargot, some larger snails, two types of crab, clams, oysters, shrimp (two types), and some other types of seafood I'm not sure the name of. The new style dishes we tried were a lobster foam/soup with a lot of veggies and a carpaccio of fish (thin sliced raw fish) with a wasabi creme. Both were excellent, though I'm used a to "just cooked" seafood, while the French restaurants seem to cook the cook stuff in advance so everything, both raw and cooked, are cold. The seafood platter is a good deal at 38 euro for a huge plattter. The new style dishes are pricier, but you pay for innovative stuff. The waitress kindly translated all of the unusual seafood dish names from French into English for us (thank goodness, as I have no idea what "John Dorey" is in French.)

This was our last dinner in Paris and did not disappoint. I had the whole sole with potatoes which was heavenly. My partner had the Fruit de Mar which was and outstanding presentation of a variety of seafood. Reasonably priced and friendly staff. Would recommend if you're a seafood lover !

Oysters were fresh and beyond any expectation My wife and I went there for lunch. I ordered one plate of oyster and a salad of lobster. Oysters were fresh and beyond any expectation. The service was extremely good. We had an amazing food experience.

Related to Bistro Paul Bert(his wife owns and operates) good is still the enemy of great. I'll come for the oysters..
