The Best Birthday Cake in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Pointe-Saint-Charles got lucky when Lecavalier Petrone opened up shop on Centre Street in 2015. Though primarily known for its picture-worthy chocolates, it makes some exceptionally delicious cakes, too. Orders can be placed online for one of their seasonal creations, which, at the moment, include a chocolate cake with haskap, hazelnut, and an almond and pecan praline crumble, and a vanilla cake with salted caramel, pears, and white chocolate." - Valerie Silva

The Best Places to Eat and Drink in Pointe-St-Charles | Eater Montreal

"At a time when many people expect food to stand out aesthetically as much or even more than in taste, two female pastry chefs are doing both. Lecavalier Petrone is best recognized for its wildly colourful chocolates, but the range of confections stretches to bite-size pastries, cupcakes, financiers, éclairs, and even wedding cakes. The boutique shop is open to individuals and businesses alike, but take note of its somewhat limited hours." - Daniel Bromberg

The Best Places to Eat Chocolate in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"Aesthetically speaking, Lecavalier Petrone probably offers the prettiest chocolates in town, with creations daubed and speckled in all manner of colours. But they’re more than just a pretty thing to look at: Flavours are intriguing and on point, with combinations like sea buckthorn and caramelized white chocolate, or blackberry with Tasmanian pepper. Order online for delivery, or pick them up in Pointe-St-Charles." - Tim Forster

The Best Places to Eat Chocolate in Montreal | Eater Montreal

"With its fairly non-descript storefront, it’s easy to miss Lecavalier Petrone when walking down Centre Street in Point-Saint-Charles. However, it’s worth taking a peek inside to peruse the assortment of colourful bonbons. Flavours are intriguing and on point, with combinations like sea buckthorn and caramelized white chocolate, or blackberry with Tasmanian pepper." - Mallory Frayn

Love them so much! I have been ordering from them for years and just exceptional quality every single time. From the staff to their regular and seasonal chocolates and bakes, everything is top notch and what they offer is delicious and made beautifully with obvious skill and artistry. Their staff works harder than any I've ever seen - as they work long hours 6 days a week to fulfill orders and stock their shop with their delicious treats. The owners and their team deserve so much success and more for all their passion and incredibly hard work ove the past ten years. They are my family's go-to bakery for all celebrations and holidays. Their Paris-Brest is my absolute favourite and I never knew such a thing existed before I started going there. Also they are incredibly generous and help raise funds for our community organisations on a regular basis - thank you angels for everything you do for your clientele and our community! <3<3<3

Google
Our favourite neighbourhood chocolate shop! The flavours are so unique and beautiful. We always buy their chocolates whenever we want to have a special treat or gift. The passion fruit caramel and the praliné options are my favourite. I recently gave them to my bridesmaids as a thank you gift. They’re ~almost~ too beautiful to eat.

Google
Fantastic chocolates. Caramels and Pralines especially. Their tarts are nice, too, and the staff are lovely! My only thought is that the chocolates are hard to get out of the box due to the tapered shape working against one’s fingers! They should include a little stick or pincer to remove them.

For the last 3 years, I've ordered my birthday cakes from this shop and have been so happy with the gorgeous and delicious cakes (and so have my guests). This year was no exception -- I ordered the newer chocolate hazelnut cake to be picked up on the weekend and for whatever reason, I completely forgot to go to the shop and pick it up 💀 I received a call from someone at the shop who tried to work with me to pick it up in the final minutes it was closing, (where the employee made the extra effort to stay longer than they should have 🥺) but due to a bad match with an Uber courier, it wasn't able to be picked up in time. They put it in the fridge for me to try and grab it on Wednesday when they reopened, and I accepted this as it was completely my fault for not picking it up when I said I would. I figured I could pick up a sad cake from the grocery store instead. I emailed the shop to apologize for the back and forth (I really summarized the efforts above but it was a very confusing ordeal with Uber) and to thank the employee for their efforts, and was surprised to get a call from the owner, Chloe, who saw my email and graciously offered to meet me at the shop later that day as she had to be there anyway to pick something up. I was so grateful that she reached out to me! I ended up being able to bring my usual delicious cake to my birthday party and enjoy it with my friends. 🥳 I was always happy to support this very talented local shop (I buy the beautiful advent calendars from them for the holidays as gifts!) but am even more of a fan now. Thank you to Chloe and your team for helping me sort out the situation!

Google
The cakes are frozen and taste dry, old, and basic — more Costco than pâtisserie, despite the premium prices. The creams are heavy, oily, and dominated by sugar and fat, with no taste, finesse or real technique. The simplest gestures are missing: you can buy several cakes and they hand you a stack of boxes with no bag, no care, no courtesy. The attitude matches the quality — consistently rude, slow, dismissive, and strangely proud of it. They sell sugar and butter, but the people behind the counter, including the owner are anything but sweet. The truth is simple: Montreal has very few alternatives right now, and they survive on that lack of choice, not on merit.”

Google
Lecavalier Petrone is hands down one of my favorite cake shop in Montreal, and it's my go-to for every special occasion. Whether it's a birthday or simply a treat-yourself moment, their cakes never disappoint. Each one feels like a masterpiece—somehow, every time I think I’ve tasted the best they have to offer, the next cake raises the bar even higher. From the perfectly moist layers to the rich, decadent flavors that dance on your palate, every bite feels like a little celebration.

From instagram to the real store, everything is very pretty. Chocolate selections are very interesting and beautiful. Pastries quite limited when we are there since they mentioned you have to order online, this is tricky because you need to be able to try something small in store before order online. We bought the caramel Paris-Brest, well balance and very good, however the size is very small for $28 cake, this could be for 1.5 person only. You can see how small the cake in my picture, and again my hand is not big for your reference. The reason I gave 4 stars because overall everything is quite expensive here, you need to be aware of this factor.

Google
This place is a gem and never disappoints. The flavours are well executed and the quality is consistent. They mainly focus on chocolate but you can’t miss their baked goods. In addition the customer service is top notch and they care about their customers and the community. A very special kudos to Gabrielle who is very kind and personally took care of a request I had.

Yelp
Cavalier Petrone is located in Pointe St-Charles and is easily accessible by public transit and by car. I drove there and we had no difficulty finding parking. The shop, which is also their workshop, is very welcoming. At the moment, they can only accommodate two customers at a time. I was lucky, there was no line-up the day I visited. I was gifted a chocolate assortment ordered online and I took the opportunity to buy an extra Paris-Brest while I was there. The pastry was very good, well-balanced and the chocolates were sooo delicious! This place, that I did not know before this little trip, has clearly become my go-to spot for fine chocolate.

Yelp
Love love love Lecavalier Perrone! It has the most beautiful pastries and chocolates. This is my second time ordering their delightful sweet treats and it won't be the last time. You will find the chocolates of all sorts of flavors. They are decorated as you have splashed the colors. So far I tried their Paris Breast, it's one most decadent pastry I have ever tasted. As for the shop, it is tiny at the entrance and the back is their kitchen is big and you know where the magic happens. Through the window, you can see the bakers creating the magical and delicious treats. Definitely recommended!

Yelp
I received as a gift a box of signature chocolate from Lecavalier Petrone from my friends and they told me that they are really art pieces, and they are indeed! I find the chocolate both aesthetic and flavourful, so they are really amazing! Since these chocolate are really home made without any agent of conservation, I had to eat them quickly and I never put them in the fridge (as instructed by the shop), so if it's in summer, it could be potentially a problem to conserve them. I also got a pot of salted caramel (caramel au fleur de sel) that I offered to my best friend, I think that it's as good as the chocolate with salted caramel that I tried! Really recommended :)

Yelp
These chocolates taste even better than they look & they are gorgeous to look at. I have gifted these gems to people who relish great chocolate & their appreciation was non stop. I can personally vouch that their melt-in-your-mouth brownies are other worldly & the pecan caramel tart we shared was outstanding. If you love great chocolate, you MUST plan a visit.

Yelp
Location: Point St. Charles. The closest subway stop is Charlevoix. I requested a delivery so I'm not sure about street parking but this seems to be available - check the signs. The goods: Bloody incredible. As someone who is adamant (and a little obsessed) about quality chocolate, Lecavalier hits every sensory mark for me: taste, smell, texture and visual aesthetics. These chocogasmic bites of heaven are offered in many unique flavours and they're positively gorgeous to look at. So much so, that for half a millisecond, I actually hesitated before devouring my first one. Then I said f*ck that and I took one for the team. Unctuous, bursting with flavour. Positively delicious. Miraculously, I stopped myself at two chocolates - I'm saving the rest for later ("later" could mean an hour from now). It is glaringly obvious that the chocolatiers behind this venture are focused on perfection. Service: Great! I had a tiny issue when ordering online, but Loïse helped sort everything out for me. Super friendly and very quick to respond via email. While there is a fee for delivery, I greatly appreciated that they deliver to the north shore of Montreal since it saved me a trip to the land of orange cones. Price point: On par with other quality chocolatiers. I expect these guys will be hearing from me often and I highly recommend them!

Yelp
I was gifted a gorgeous assortment of chocolates from Petrone! Their chocolate designs are stunning and their fillings range from traditional to unique. The quality of their chocolate and their fillings are exceptional. Prices are competitive with other shops at approx $2 /piece. Highly recommend as a gift or for yourself !!

Yelp
Montreal's best patisserie, I have tried many things here and everything has been excellent. The service is super friendly, unlike many other patisseries in Montreal. The branding and packaging are perfect and complement the delicious pastries, cakes and chocolates. The chocolate chunk cookies are perfection.

Yelp
Good quality chocolates - usually with 8-12 options available in the shop. Some options are quite inventive and all are beautiful. A bit pricey: $2 per chocolate if purchased without a box (i.e., in a bag...). Somewhat surprised they charge extra for a box - unusual for a gourmet chocolate shop - but maybe the cost cut gets passed on to customers. Btw, the shop is tiny - so you have no choice but to shop-and-go.

Yelp
Had a whole bunch of different products from Lecavalier Petrone over the last almost 3 years. And like Forest Gump once said "Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you're gonna get". Well let me tell you all that for sure you'll always get the amazing tasty chocolates from these two passionate ladies. Long life to Lecavalier Petrone!!
