New Montreal Restaurants Openings, July 2022 | Eater Montreal

"I tried dishes at LeDon Donburi, a new Japanese dinner spot replacing Café Cubano, and found comforting offerings such as agedashi tofu, takoyaki (fried octopus balls), karaage, and butadon (a rice bowl with teriyaki pork)." - Valerie Silva

Such a wonderful dining experience! The staff were friendly and funny, and the bowls were so delicious and fresh. Got the katsudon and the gyudon and would definitely recommend. Also tried their PFK appetizer that’s a seasonal item! It is a small space with limited seating, so be prepared to wait if you don’t have a reservation.

where to start...the food was amazing. as someone from a predominantly east asian city (vancouver), i've been on the hunt for authentic japanese food in mtl and ledon surely takes the cake. we popped in for a late dinner around 830 and were sat immediately! we ordered the gyoza, korokke, katsudon, and karaage don. get the korokke. you cannot go wrong with anything on the menu though!! on top of the delish food, our server, alex, was hilarious and so attentive - a downright delight. i can't believe we hadn't tried this place earlier. time to make up for lost time now hehehe tl;dr awesome food, wonderful staff. highly recommend.

Friendly attentive staff and delicious food! For anyone considering going here: I would recommend booking a reservation because it’s a popular place I also should mention that since it’s a small, cozy restaurant with limited space, i’d recommend it as a date night spot, rather than a restaurant for large groups 😊

This place was such an amazing experience. We didn't have a reservation (on a Friday night), so we waited outside and finally got a table. The host was lovely; even gave us complimentary drinks to warm us up 🥹. The food was some of the best donburi I've ever eaten, and their hot sauces? Oh you NEED to try them. Boyfriend and I will be repeat customers for sure (and we will call to make a reservation next time 💖)!!!

It was our first time at LeDon Donburi and it did not disappoint!!! Atmosphere was awesome (especially for anime nerds like ourselves) and the menu was amazing, we wanted to sit and eat everything off the menu hahah. Alex and Eric were great, very nice folks and kept us entertained the whole night. I could tell they were really passionate about the food they make and I look for that in restaurants esp since I don't eat out often. I'm just as passionate about cooking (and food in general) and I just know a lot of thought and love went into creating each item on the menu—our compliments to the chefs!! Overall 14/10 experience, we are 100% coming back and bringing friends with us.

A bit on the upscale/ expensive side, but dining in made it worth it for the atmosphere and hospitality. The food was very delicious and authentic tasting. Very friendly and educational service from the staff, learned a lot about the food and culture. Would recommend to Japan culture enthusiasts.

I went there with the idea there wouldn't be any kind of surprises. I would be sampling another attempt at the gyudon, but hey I did get surprised. Not only did they add their own flair to it, special kimchi sauce on it not for everyone since it is a bit spicy as you probably wouldn't expect from a gyudon (you would get the choice to add spices at gyudon shops). The taste was crisp and tangy. While the main attraction the beef was close to perfection in tenderness and taste. It was my first trip there I'll probably go back to see how it stacks. Had the tonkatsu too, but it was pretty burnt. I'm sure it was only this one time though so no points off.

As a regular customer who visits at least once a month, I can't say enough good things about Ledon Donburi. This isn't just a place I eat, it's a place I genuinely look forward to visiting. If you want to eat a Donburi. The food is delicious with consistent quality. Every dish is prepared with care and attention, especially for me who has many allergies. The level of care is hard to find and makes the entire dining experience feel personal. I highly recommend Ledon Donburi to anyone looking to try different style of Japanese food, something that isn't like the usual sushi. It has a friendly atmosphere, and outstanding customer service.
