I was really looking forward to this meal. I am a huge fan of Chinese food and have had "best meal unconscious" to just bad. The location and decor were perfect for the high expectations I had going into it based on great places I have eaten in the past in chuck town. Food was just ok. I hope they just had a bad day but I did not agree with most reviews. Decor and location were ideal for hidden secret kind of restaurant. I will try again to see if I just had a bad night.

This is chinese done well, none of that fast food so-so quality kind of stuff here. I love hitting this place for lunch, and there is almost always street side parking available. They have some lunch specials that aren't necessarily cheaper but they are more diverse so instead of just ordering one item you get a half portion or so, plus some crab rangoons plus soup. It's a nice changeup when you want a few different bites at lunch. It's hard to go wrong with pretty much anything on the menu but I'm pretty much addicted to the salt and pepper chicken.

Pleasant from before we even walked in. Lovely place, with friendly staff and great food. Portions are generous and meant to be shared, an idea I totally approve of. The dumplings are tasty, as is the Mu Shu chicken.

The Chinatown-like decor, such as paper lanterns and birdcages, paired with Maoist themed murals and paintings, gives a distinct feel to an otherwise modern dining space. The food is unique, but familiar and what I would describe as a considerable step up from your average Chinese take out joint. Try the Salt & Pepper Chicken and Hong Sho Ro; both were very good.

Delicious Chinese food in a small restaurant away from the downtown crowds. I love their salt and pepper shrimp. Staff is friendly, portions are good, and prices are reasonable to me

If you are looking for elevated Chinese food in the holy city this is the spot. Portions are huge so be prepared to have lunch leftovers for lunch the following day. Make sure to visit the restroom and check out all the funny photos along the way.

I've tried several times but tonight was the clencher. Why can't anyone in Charleston make an authentic ethnic meal? The egg drop soup had corn in it...the Hunan beef had pickled mustard greens. Sounded interesting but tasted like stomach acid to put it politely. I give up.

Delicious and inventive handmade food in a hip atmosphere makes this place a must visit while in Charleston. Great cocktails and friendly staff just sweetens the pot.
