Houston’s Biggest Dining Stories of 2018 | Eater Houston

"One of several concepts owned by a hospitality group that ran into legal and financial problems, this fried-chicken-and-doughnuts concept was included in a late-August sale to a new restaurant group, which planned to bring in new culinary leadership to refresh the menus." - Amy McCarthy

Food was great, seasoned well, and fresh. Had no issues with staff who helped a first timer like myself figure the menu out. If im in the area again definitely will be back.

Edit: Ate here for the first time today. Wonderful lunch! Service was very friendly and super fast. I got the 4 pc strip meal with coleslaw and potato wedges as the sides. It also came with a biscuit (but no drink just fyi). The biscuit was nice and fluffy. The potato wedges must have equaled around 1.5 total potatoes. Very good, and fresh, not frozen or from a bag. I got the bonsai (sweet/sour) sauce for dipping and that was good too. The chicken was just fantastic. Crunchy, juicy, all the good stuff. My only gripe was that I got the 4 pc and they gave me 6 pieces, lol. I ate this in my car (there is no seating there) and by the end I was whispering words of encouragement to myself. “You can do this, Nate. You can do it!” I did it. Would highly recommend this place. I may even stop by sometime on the way home from work to bring dinner home for the family. Previous post: I haven’t eaten at the physical location but my brother/sister-in-law had them cater my niece’s grad party. The chicken and mac-n-cheese were fantastic.

The ultimate comfort food! Our go-to spot for winter nights needing a warm filling meal. Never had a bad experience. Generous portions- we order chicken tenders combos because we hate dealing with bones and almost always end up with more than states on the menu! Their biscuits are to die for! Always order extras to dip in our sides and they actually reheat nicely just a few seconds in the microwave. This Plymouth location far out-performs the Livonia location. They are franchises and not run by the same people. If you’re in the area it’s worth driving over to Plymouth to get from here.

I used to go to Popeyes fried chicken growing up when we wanted fried food, or KFC. But long wait times, terrible staff, terrible service really discourage me from going back to those places. My diet has changed a lot over the past 6 years, I eat pretty clean and lean now. So eating fried chicken normally tastes good, but it makes me sick due to the grease and heaviness of the food. But Lee's really impressed me. I read about this chain while scrolling through maps one day, and made a mental note to try it out. It was surprisingly good. I tasted wonderful, but what made it even better were there great prices. I got 2 3pc meals for me and the wife. And I was out the door just north of $20 bucks. You get a breast, thigh, and a leg, and 2 good portioned sides, and a biscuit. I placed my order, and like 25 seconds later I got my food. The pretty girl at the front was pleasant to do deal with too. Just to sum it up for the peeps in the back, you get great service, pleasant employees, great food that isn't overly greasy, AND it doesn't cost you a lot of money. I'll def be back.

Google
Great and fast service but the chicken isn't good. I've tried it twice now and it's just not great. You get more chicken per piece but otherwise it tastes about the same as any fast food place. The biscuits are amazing though I'll give them that. Definitely better options for fried chicken

RD

Google
The chicken was excellent, right amount of juiciness with crunch and tenderness. The person at the counter was about as rude and unfriendly as they come. No professionalism whatsoever, not even a return greeting or acknowledgement of anything... Just terrible.

Google
If you are looking for the best fried chicken in the Plymouth area, you are looking for Lee's famous recipe chicken!! The place was super clean inside and everyone was bursting with smiles behind the counter 👍 I tried the extra crispy recipe and surprisingly it had a little bit of a kick of Cayenne, so be ready 🔥 I will definitely be stopping in again in the future!

Google
Went to pick up food for a 25 piece and this chicken exceeding expectations. The flavor was on point, and the service was fast and good. The place is a take out only and very small, but they make things fresh. Ordered a 25-piece, and we plan on going regularly.

Yelp
I go to Lee's all the time and almost always get their standard chicken meal. It is so good, and a real favorite of mine. However, this visit I got their chicken tenders for the first time and I was really impressed. First, they were huge. I ordered 4, but could barely finish 3. The breading is flavorful, but not too thick, and the chicken is juicy. I chose the zippy chipotle ranch to go with it. Loved! For dessert I got one of their apple turnovers. For those of you who remember how the McDonald's apple pies used to be when they fried them, that's how the Lee's apple turnover tasted. So good!

Yelp
I was sadly a bit disappointed with the food considering how busy this place always is. On wednesdays the 3 piece meal is $7.19 which is objectively a great value but I just wasn't impressed by the chicken or sides. The biscuits however were fantastic - fluffy and buttery and warm. I ordered 2 meals because I'm a big back and I wanted leftovers to bring to my dad. For sides I got green beans, mashed potatoes, Coleslaw, and Mac and cheese. All of the sides were below average in my opinion with the exception of the coleslaw which was super tasty and not too creamy. The green beans especially were way way too overcooked and mushy. Same thing with the Mac and cheese - not impressed at all. The chicken was good but not as "fried" as I had hoped nor was it seasoned enough. With that said it was tender and juicy. Portions were larger than expected. Overall I would consider going back because the prices are great and the service is fast but I really don't think it's substantially better than fried chicken fast food chains at a similar price point like KFC or Popeyes.

Yelp
The best fried chicken and sides. Love ordering family trays here with their sides and biscuits this place is amazing. Even for lunch their 2-3 piece lunch plates are great. Hearty portion sizes for Mac and cheese. Mash and gravy.

Yelp
Must try when in Detroit. Easy to order and very tasty chicken. Great service by the staff. Options include original or crispy style.

Yelp
Last time I came here was kind of a bust. The chicken tenders were barely warm. My sides were hotter than the chicken (I was eating inside the restaurant) the biscuit was hard as well andmy husband pot pie was alittle dry. Normally everything is fresh and yummy here and they were busy so I'm not sure why the chicken was Luke warm & biscuit hard since I'm assuming they were going through food quickly. I hoping next time the food is better or it will be my last time going.
google avatar

Yelp
Ok, so I had not been a fan of Lee's chicken.... But I tried the tenders and liked them a lot. We have gotten the tenders several times now and been really satisfied. The cottage fries are really good, too: tender and soft just like they should be. Biscuits have always been very fluffy. Mac & cheese was a miss, in my kids' opinion. The bonsai sauce is uniquely different from your typical sweet & sour, and is really flavorful. If there is a line it moves pretty fast, and the food is a good value so it's worth the wait. They are even open quite early if you want to grab a box for breakfast or lunch, and it's so fresh. I guess if you live here long enough you grow to love Lee's. Call me a convert... Hallelujah - It's good!

Yelp
Blown away Delicious Chicken, got a 8 pc Mega Fresh Deep Fried Crunchy Chicken . First visit ever, fast friendly service in minutes delivered to my hand's. Very busy customers filled the parking lot eating da bird and licking they fingers. Bought mine for dinner at home , next visit will do a dash board dining in the lot. All the reviews around the web shows this decades old single location the very best, Yes I totally agree . Been to several of the Yemeni owned spin off locations, no comparison not good as this original location. Tender Juicy perfection OMG a must visit for the real deal . #leesfamouschicken @leesfamouschick #plymouthmi #chicken #deepfriedchicken #greatfood #downriverfriendseat

Yelp
Amazing!! I ordered a large take out but could only use a debit card online and I had cash so I called and asked the manager on duty if it was alright to place my order over the phone. This type of ordering is not traditional with this company however, because I only had cash. The manager allowed me to place an order without giving me any grief. The food was so delicious, fresh and hot. I have four children who are some of the pickiest eaters I know, however, they all loved this chicken place. Great service great food, and wonderful experience. The prices are really reasonable as well.

Evelyn R.

Yelp
Excellent service and some of the best chicken I have had. It's a take out restaurant, so plan accordingly.

Yelp
This chicken shack has been open forever at this location as I remember Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken back when I was a teenager. The franchise is part of a regional chain with a presence mainly east of the Mississippi River although there are a few shops in B.C. Canada of all places. Only one picnic table was available outside for seating which meant nearly everyone was ordering food to go. The menu was similar to what you would find at any of the national fried chicken shops, but there was a larger choice of sides. I picked a two-piece mixed snack which came with a biscuit as a side. The biscuit was soft and moist unlike the dry and stale product elsewhere. The chicken wasn't as good this time because you could tell it had been sitting under heat for a while. The meat was lukewarm while the crust wasn't as crunchy compared to being hot out of a fryer. I just beat a rush of customers as the line extended out the door shortly after I had paid. The staff was quite efficient at processing orders for a small operation. Because of the less than stellar chicken on this occasion, I could not give higher than a three star rating for my latest experience at Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken.

Yelp
Consistently great. Our place to go for great chicken! Quick service. Great for catering.

Tonda O.

Yelp
It's a good thing the food is delicious, because the service is dismal enough to discourage any future visits. Oh-And don't bother reading the website and calling as it says....even with an empty lobby "They're not taking call in orders of any kind". I did have time and a great view of the kitchen floor covered in dropped chicken parts & biscuits while waiting....not appetizing, however at least it stayed on the floor once it got there. So...good food. Horrible service & atmosphere.

Gilvonna M.

Yelp
Lee's Chicken. Mac n cheese. Biscuits. Is Delicious..."It's the NEW KFC' to me. I have ordered from couple of times...they have excellent food!!

S D.

Yelp
Autumn U is the reason my review is 1 star. She is the most unprofessional most IDGAF cashier I've ever dealt with. I've been to Lee's multiple times with her serving me and she seems to not have even the most basic customer service skills or social skills for that matter. She's loud, obnoxious, cringe; she doesn't know when to shut up. All of this is made worse by the fact that you're in a cramped area waiting for your food. I like Lee's, but until this creature is fired, I will not be back

Michael W.

Yelp
We have been eating at this establishment since the 1960's when it was called Grandma's Fried Chicken. We are still regular customers, and still enjoy the chicken and sides. The KFC across the street is long gone, and for good reason. ;-)
google avatar

Jack A.

Yelp
Ewww this place is no good anymore. Chicken is soggy and greasy, biscuits all came smashed. Our meal came with three large sides and they missed two out of three. Employees look like they really don't care to be there.
google avatar

Mike G.

Yelp
Some of the best around. Been a staple in the community since I was raised here in the 80s!!!! Just a take out not like the new ones they are building. Remember this is a chain!!!!

Darren ..

Yelp
I love their Chicken tenders. I have visited a few different locations. The location in Wayne is my favorite. The food is great, and the help is so nice. Thanks

Mel O.

Yelp
This is hands down the best chicken place around Food is always fresh staff is courteous & quick! My only wish is that the restaurant was bigger so you didn't have to stand in line outside But you better believe it's worth the wait!

Yelp
I don't eat meat so I can only speak to what I ate and eBay my family said about the chicken. We order two 25 piece family meals. We had the option of subbing tenders if we wanted. We did 12 tenders and the rest were a mix of thighs, breast, legs (drumstick). For our sides I was a little confused. We got 5 sides per order. They also said we could opt for a 1/2 gal of any side in place of 4 little sides and we got 24 biscuits. We chose 1/2 gallon of potato skins, mashed potatoes w/gravy on the side, macaroni and cheese and green beans. I had potato skins w/gravy, green beans, and a biscuit. It was really good. The skins weren't as fresh as they could be but we also had a 20 min ride back home. The biscuits were soft and buttery. To be a late night, last minute chicken run to satisfy an uncle, it did the job!

Yelp
November 30, 2022 Review #421 So every year in November for the past 3 years and sometimes in Summer when I visit a family member for her party's in Plymouth, she clucks and clucks to insist on ordering for dinner "Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken!" They offer counter takeout and delivery plus Catering For Parties! Menu: leeschickenplymouth.com Hours: 7 Days A Week 8:00 AM - 9:00 PM The Menu Boards are very easy to read and offer many variety of combos plus fresh sides too when deciding what to choose. You can order chicken pieces in many quantites and chicken tenders. The Famous Recipe gives their chicken a fluffy, crispy and honey dipped taste! Comfort Food plus Tasty & Finger Licking Delicious. This Tasty business is located on Ann Arbor Rd W and you can't miss their LARGE Sign and welcoming little house front. Pleasant employees working hard especially on the weekends to fulfill pre-orders or walk in orders too. Their parking lot is small so be patient when picking up orders especially on the weekends around dinner time when it's very busy. It was 4pm when I drove to pick up Lee's to help my family member with her order on Saturday 11-26, for her Thanksgiving Dinner. I arrived five minutes before and only one customer was ahead of Me. Timing was perfect and Her order tray of chicken was ready too! History: Lee Cummings and Harold Omer first opened in 1966. Lee introduced his Famous Recipe chicken after spending several years working with his uncle Colonel Sanders at Kentucky Fried Chicken. True story and quoted at www.leesfamousrecipe.com Lee's is currently celebrating 56 years of Famous Chicken! If you live in Plymouth lucky you. If you are visiting in Plymouth try Lee's Famous Recipe Chicken, You'll be clucking Happy You Did!

Sherry S.

Yelp
I use to eat this chicken years ago. It use to be good but now it is horrendous! It tasted like they poured a box of salt on my chicken and gizzards! The wedges looked like there was mold on the peelings and they fried them as is. My biscuits were rock hard. The coleslaw was good and that was it. Was it my ethnicity that I deserved this food? This was at the Lee's on Ann Arbor Rd in Plymouth. They need to shut it down. A waste of my money. I am a senior and was going to eat off of it for a couple days. Why do people like this? This is sad.

Yelp
Ladies and Gentlemen I'm going to tell you a short story. Guy walks into a Lee's Famous Recipe to get something to eat and falls in love with the service and chicken tenders. Happy Ending theme comes accross the theatre screen. I have went past Lee's Famous Recipe for years and wondered why so busy and I wouldn't wait in that line. I decided it was time to find out what the fuss was all about. Amazing chicken was the answer and sides that made my knees tremble. A menu full of juicy eats. Not allot of parking is the only reason I couldn't give them a 5 star review. Clean inside and out was a big plus as well. They cater as well which I did last week at my sons annual barbecue. I got 2 pans of chicken, Mac and Cheese and potato wedges. Everyone loved the food. Delivered on time and they through in some extra coleslaw as well. Give them your business and enjoy the chicken and sides. Try the spicy seasoning if your ready for some heat.

Yelp
Food is always consistently delicious, service is fast, efficient and friendly and you can feed the whole family for a reasonable price. The Plymouth location is our "go to" but there Is a newer location in Livonia as well. Order your food on the phone or come in and order at the counter!

Yelp
Based on the raving review in the Free Press, I visited Lee's. Disappointing on several levels: - I ordered the 3-piece lunch special: spicy chicken w/green beans and mac & cheese - Chicken was not spicy. I checked the receipt and it listed "crispy". - Nor was the chicken crispy. Screw-up by both the counter and kitchen. My lunch companion ordered crispy and received a meal that was considerably more crispy. - I was told that the green beans were cooked w/pork fat ... not that I could smell or taste. - The mac & cheese was of the thick-ish variety, which is what I prefer. Otherwise; it was unremarkable. - On the plus side of this experience; the pieces of chicken were definitely plump, not the least bit scrawny. For a regular fried chicken, they were reasonably seasoned and expertly prepared ... just not what I ordered and not worth the fuss of getting back in line. My dining companion got what he ordered. His observation: potato wedges were soggy. Will I return? Nope.

Yelp
Awesome food and fast, friendly service. Enjoyed family pack of assorted with beans, potatoes and mashed potatoes. Also incredible biscuits. Highly recommend.

Yelp
Loved this place! Was looking for somewhere quick to eat and followed the good reviews here. It's small inside and I've seen lines here as I've driven by but they moved quickly! Ordered meals for 3 and the food came out in maybe 5 minutes. Very delicious and juicy chicken and our sides were great! Everything was cooked perfectly and crispy and we loved the coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Highly recommend swinging by here!

Yelp
As an industrial engineer, I am impressed by the efficiency of Lee's. The building is the size of a garage with the customer waiting area only accommodating 5 people. I usually count the number of workers while standing in line. Normally, Macdonald's will have 6, while Wendy's and Burger King 4. I have seen as many as 12 at a busy Popeyes. lee's works with a very efficient four. For example, the order taker operates 2 cash registers so there is no waiting while the customer in front of you fumbles with their credit card. The waiting area is reminiscent of Seinfeld's soup nazi. Customers dutifully standing in line outside waiting to enter the limited area inside. The chicken is unlike KFC or Popeyes. The breading is seasoned with "the famous recipe " that includes pepper among other ingredients. Bottom line is that it tastes great. The sides are good and reasonably priced.
google avatar

Connor A.

Yelp
incredible food quality and portion size for just $8. You won't find better prices anywhere. Much better quality than raising canes or KFC and meals are half the price plus they include 2 sides. Service was very friendly and super fast. Perfect for getting lunch during work because it's very fast and affordable. I got the 3pc meal and had lunch and leftovers for dinner because I got way more food than I expected for $8. i don't know how they even make profit with these prices in 2024. I will be a regular here for sure.
google avatar

Christal P.

Yelp
This place is overrated. Even though there are usually long lines out the door, I do not find Lee's chicken to be that good. I have been to Lee's a handful of times and I always find feathers on my chicken wings. The 10-pc wing meal is $12.39 and doesn't come with any sides. The wings are very small and can be hit or miss in regards to taste and crunchiness. I don't find any of their sides to be particularly tasty. The green beans are awful. The potato wedges are never that crispy. The biscuit is plain and lacks flavor. The last time I went there I ordered gizzards and liver for my mother. She told me later that they covered the old meat that was at the bottom of the container. You don't realize it until you're halfway done that the rest of the meat is old and tough. I've given Lee's enough tries. I won't return.

C S.

Yelp
The food is always good. Our grandchildren request the chicken strips with a double order of mashed potatoes and gravy all the time. Don't be scared off if the line is long to order, they get you in and out fast.
google avatar

Stacy K.

Yelp
I would give this place a three and a half. People rave about this place and talk it up as the best. It was good. There was a line out the door with very eager customers. They were all very loyal customers and love this place. The individuals working inside were nice a polite. We wanted to try the tenders and a biscuit. The price was very fair and the three piece snack gave you a lot of chicken for the price. the tenders were large. The meat was moist and juice and the spice was nice on the breading. The chicken was a bit on the chewy side. The tender was not hot and not crispy. The biscuit was really good, soft and buttery. It reminded me of Popeye's biscuits, so my preferred flavor, I could have eaten more of those. This place was not too close to the house and we do have our preferred places, so we might not make it back any time soon. But, I would not be opposed to trying it again.

Kevin W.

Yelp
Ordered the 4 piece mixed crunchy meal with mashed potatoes and a biscuit. About $10 and change and was well worth it. Nice large pieces and the 2 sides were really good. I will definitely be going here again.
google avatar

Bob K.

Yelp
This is one of my favorite chicken places. Usually the chicken is overdone or flavorless, but Lees is consistently, moist and juicy and has wonderful flavor. I usually order the chicken strips, but the bone in meal is also delicious. I've never had the spicy chicken, but I've seen people order it a lot. The sides are good. I like the coleslaw. It's sweet, not vinegary. The beans are good and so is the corn. My favorite is the chicken and noodles. Biscuits are good too. Prices are very reasonable in my opinion. There's no indoor dining, takeout only. Counter staff is always friendly.
google avatar

Stephanie W.

Yelp
Always quick service, reasonable prices and great for catering orders for large groups! The food is always good and fresh!

Peter M.

Yelp
Tip top chicken at amazing prices. If you have not tried one of these places you are missing out

Dan J.

Yelp
wow, please chicken sure has changed. The large portion size is now the size of a small coffee cup. I ordered a large gizzard and I got home and I grabbed a small coffee cup and if all the gizzards fit right in the small coffee cup and it cost me $7.85

Matt D.

Yelp
don't waste your time. I was told how "great" Lees is but I found out what a messed up place it is. I should have checked here before I went only 3.9 stars. I orders a 2piece strip with two sides got a wing and a breast when I got home. While there the Blonde girl who was packing orders said it's so hard to pack orders. I should have taken that as a clue and asked to be refunded and left. when I called to complain they wouldn't refund the order just said they'd give me a "free" one next time. If I wanted to call back between 11-2 a could talk to a manager. No wonder they have bad service and food the manager works 3 hours Trust me I won't be back to Lees the food I got was wrong and not good. why go back for a free one that might not even be right
google avatar

Bernadette B.

Yelp
Overall, this is a solid place to go to if you want some fried chicken. There's usually a line for this place so I try to go during off hours. When things are a bit more mellow, the employees are really friendly and open to have chat as you decide what you're going to order. The chicken itself is a solid choice. I wouldn't call it going anything out of your way for, but if you're looking for a some fried chicken for the family on the way home, this place is a solid choice over anything like KFC. The sides were smaller than I was expecting so make sure you take a peek at sizing if you're ordering for a group. Each side really only felt like it was good for one person. I didn't find the green beans or mashed potatoes as sides to be anything outstanding but again, better than any other fast food fried chain you might stumble into. On the offhand chance you're driving past and you don't see a line, pop in and give this place a chance. Otherwise, I'm not ready to jump into those massive lines of hungry people.
google avatar

Alicia Z.

Yelp
Stopped by after our original fried chicken place was closed. I understand Lee's is a multi-state chain but it feels hometown. Small quaint building. Staff was friendly and they were open to requests, for instance the 8piece meal could include bone-in and breast strips mix. The chicken and noodles was great and also the biscuits. Mac and cheese was nothing exciting but there are plenty of other sides available. Limited seating onsite so it is more friendly as a to go location. Looking in the back they had PLENTY of chicken on hand and everything was served quickly. Only suggestion would be to move away from styrofoam. Overall, will be back for sure!
google avatar

Yelp
Lee's Famous Recipe is strictly a take out place and there isn't a drive thru. In fact, they have a very small lobby to place your order then wait for your food. Many times you will see a line out the door and down the ramp. That's because this place is pretty popular at all times of the day. Yes, even as early at 8 am when they open (7 days a week). During my recent trip here, I arrived about 11 am and there were two other people waiting for their food. My service was fast - in and out with my food quickly! I ordered a five piece meal to share with a friend and we still had chicken leftover. The bummer part was I forgot the sides are intended to be for one person. So there wasn't much for the two of us to share. If I went again for the two of us, I would order an extra side. The chicken was good, but I thought my chicken breast was a little dry. The mashed potatoes and gravy and coleslaw were tasty and I wanted more! If you are looking for good fried chicken, head to Lee's. They also have spicy chicken, breast strips, and some other options!

Yelp
Today I visited this location and ordered 6 crispy wings that was packaged by KATY the manager on duty when I got home to eat I opened to find my wings were Stale and old and not at room temperature. It was dark and hard. I called the store and spoke with Katie the manager on duty call and I asked to speak to the manager she kept asking what for what for rather than saying this is Katie the manager how can I help you, I came back to the store to return the order. She was very rude. Katy with that nasty cantankerous disposition, you will be stuck in that position for the rest of your life.

Yelp
I have driven by Lee's chicken multiple times and have seen the massive lines. When I see that, of course it will be on my bucket list. My family was coming over so I thought it was a great time to check this out. I gave myself an hour to order and deal with the line. It only took me about 30 minutes from line to ordering and then getting my food. Not bad! I ordered the 25 piece chicken strip family meal. This is huge! We were feeding 8 people so I thought that would be enough. We were able to serve both families for multiple days. The chicken strips are white breast meat and huge! This meal comes with 5 large sides. Everything was extremely yummy. We ordered the fries, coleslaw, mashed potatoes, Mac & cheese, and baked beans. On top of that, you get 12 biscuits. You get an allotment of sauces too. I opted for an assortment to try it all. There is parking behind Lee's. Don't let the line scare you. It's worth the wait!

Yelp
Place: This place is very small and there is no room to sit and eat. It is more like an order and to go. BUT OMG this place is life-changingly good! I really enjoy this place and want to go again. Service: The service is FANTASTIC. The cashier was super honest and gave us great tips on how to save money. She was super nice and felt like she was like a mom who really cared! Food/price: THE FOOD and price was worth for the amount we got. I got two of the boxes of spicy chicken for two people and we still had left overs. Audience: Many families came by to pick up food for dinner and a great for couples that want a good meal but lazy to cook lol. Recommend/tips? I would definitely recommend this place and hope to see you guys there!

Yelp
We use to go here 3 times a week. I got a raw chicken sandwich, took it back and the owner argued it wasn't raw. I run a restaurant, I know what raw chicken is. I van overlook the rudeness of the workers for good food but my final straw was getting another piece of raw chicken. I had rather throw it in the trash than to argue with manager again . We haven't been back

Yelp
Lee's chicken is always a busy place but somehow we hit the jackpot and didn't have a long wait this past Sunday. We ordered chicken strips and chicken breast with coleslaw and mashed potatoes. Always very yummy, especially the coleslaw. We will be back!

Yelp
OMG! Love their chicken!! Even the chicken breast pieces are juicy. I rarely find chicken breast that is moist. I've had carry out here a few times and it never disappointed. The baked beans are delicious and love the flavor. Making me hungry just leaving this review.

Yelp
Didn't feel like cooking today. Went here for a late take out lunch. Lee's is take out only, no dining area. There was a line out the door. I understand that there is a line always. Not because service is slow, the crew behind the counter hustles. But because Lee's has something of a cult following. We ordered the 12 piece meal (6 legs & 6 thighs) with 2 sides (mac-n-cheese & coleslaw) with rolls & honey for $32 after tax. Had to wait about 20 minutes until receipt of our meal. Got it home and tucked right in. Chicken pieces were MEATY and TENDER, but the light, not very crispy breading, was a bit salty. The coleslaw was good, FRESH and not too sweet. The mac-n-cheese was good as well. CREAMY & CHEEZY. Altogether a pretty TASTY meal for 3 hungry people.

Yelp
I have been a long time lees fan. Love their food. However today the African American gentleman at the cash register was extremely rude to me and my partner. We are first responders with our uniforms on. I dont expect special treatment but i couldnt believe he rolled his eyes and snarked when i asked for a sauce (since I genuinely forget to as), in front of me. Then he was very rude to customers after and to my partner who is also in uniform. We go out of our way to come here and i usually love the girls working the register since they know us well. I know this is not how Lees management would want their customers treated and i still love the place. Im just hoping the kid has an attitude adjustment or maybe shouldn't stay in customer service if hes going to act that way.
