It doesn't look like much, but the food was very good (pancakes were excellent) Edit: 2nd visit, at least as delicious. This place is quick, but I can't figure out how. Everything tastes like it was freshly cooked - even the grilled chicken was juicy and tender. I don't think I've ever had such good grilled chicken at a diner. I don't generally like diners very much but I'll be coming back for more visits. Thank you over and again to the staff - keep up the good work!

Iv been going to this place since I was a kid(over 30 years). I have alot of memories of going here to eat with my dad. Great food well priced. I like to bring my kids here now so that I can share the experience and leave memories just as my father did me.

Country diner food. Exactly what you want from a small southern place. Warm, friendly, with a menu full of comfort food. I got the grilled cheese with bacon. It was delicious, but I should have gotten a burger because they looked amazing.

Saturday Morning Breakfast Excellent Southern Breakfast; Eggs Well, Sausage, Bacon, Grits, Pepper Gravy, White Toast. Cooked just like grandma use to cook it. The cook is superb, and the environment is very friendly. The Waitresses know their job, and keep your glass full, and take the personal interest in keeping you satisfied without asking for anything. They are always ready to get you anything needed to ensure a joyful experience eating food prepared in front of you.

Worst Philly cheesesteak I've ever had in my life. Also my parents burgers were over cooked and hard. The staff was very rude over the phone and the food was even worse. Will not ever order from there again. I usually never complain about food or service because I've worked in the industry for years but this was just plain awful.

Went to Lee's for burgers with a friend and few days ago. We had fries and onion rings with our sandwiches , everything was served quickly and just as we ordered...it was hot and very good. Our server was friendly and professional. Enjoyed every minute of it. I recommend Lee's to anyone who likes good "homemade burgers and hot dogs.

I'm not sure if I can recommend anything in this town at this point. Nothing stays open long enough to try. Everybody wants to be open when everybody is at work but close when everyone is off. This business is no different. I've tried once since I've been here and liked what I had and I've tried to return on the weekends since I'm off and if not there before 2 on Saturday you cannot get in because they are closed until Tuesday!! WTF? How has someone made this business work so long not catering to working people? Obviously some are able to make these hours work but not all. Too many places in this town work banking hours.

Like the Facebook advertising I chose to visit this week at about 1:30PM Seems staff more concerned with ? ? ? Never acknowledged or offered a drink After sitting at a table for 10 minutes, I chose to leave the building I guess it is better to do videos than serve cash-paying customers

They are very good at serving. And there cook, Ryan does a good job at cooking. They have nice manners. And it is very cheap.

I love old school places- and this place nails it. Everything is cooked to order and is super fresh. The menu is just the right size and service is fast. You can still enjoy a nice lunch out without breaking the bank at places like this. The burgers and hot dogs are go- tos, but you can't go wrong!

It was exactly what we thought it was. A greasy little delicious hamburger joint! Onion n Rings and French Fries were Yummy Too!!!! Small place inside not to many tables very local customer based restaurant. Not a extremely welcoming place for out of towners but if you need a good hangover cure this is the spot!!!

Lee's sandwich shop in Kannapolis is owned by "Chic" who worked there with his parents previously. The shop has the small town feel where everyone knows each other and there are conversations across the counter between the regulars and the staff. The dining area is small, with about 8 tables and 3-4 seats at the bar. They recently added on a porch dining option, for the spring and summer months. They also have a steady flow of pick-up orders. If you like diners and dives, this one must be on your list to visit.

Absolutely the best Hamburger steak in NC !! All the burgers and hotdogs are delicious. Great Service, Great friendly place to eat. You will Love it !

Lees is a nice little restaurant with home cooked meals and a variety of choices. Ppl that work there are nice thus far.

If you are looking for a decent breakfast with no frills and great price, this is the place to be. Food and service were both delivered fast and the young lady who served me never let me see the bottom of my cup. I will be back to try a burger 1st chance I get. Only 4 stars because of limited options but the options they offer cater to almost all, so no one will leave without finding something you like. Bring your friends, the country needs more of this home town atmosphere.

I can give you three reasons to go to check out Lee's Sandwich Shop. And one or two reasons to skip it. One reason to go is that the staff is very nice. They know a lot of their customers by name--my waitress has been serving up meals at Lee's for 31 years (I overheard her say this), and she was kind and helpful. Secondly, the place is chock full o' locals and it lends a homey vibe as they talk to one another from table to table. Thirdly, it is classic country with amusing signs and nostalgic memorabilia on the walls, a television showing "The Young and the Restless" while no one watches it, and a fellow sporting a mullet that would have been the envy of Billy Ray Cyrus circa "Achy Breaky Heart". But that's about it for reasons to go. As far as the food is concerned, it's merely ok. I had my customary cheeseburger (the Big Lee), a hot dog, and fries. The Big Lee: patties had an okay taste, but were overcooked. They were not burned, just cooked to dryness. Just a painfully average burger. Hot dog: the cole slaw was very good and was just enough to make this a good tasting hot dog. The wiener itself was average and the chili was bland and grainy. Fries: the fries were a little underdone, making the thicker ones dense and too potatoey/starchy. One additional thing to be aware of if you go to Lee's is to bring your parka. Maybe it was just today, but it was one of the coldest restaurants I've ever been in. Putting on my North Face jacket barely even helped. I admit that I am cold natured, but even the burly, beflanneled construction workers at the table next to me were complaining about it amongst themselves saying, "What is this cold air upon us and from whence did it come?". I looked at the thermostat and it said 77 degrees. This thing must be reading in Kelvin. So Lee's is worth a stop if you want to experience a lively, local/ folksy/country environment while having average diner-fare food.

according to local rumor the business has continued for 70 years in different hands and it's moved once but the food and the mood stay the same. small adventure locating this place but finding Kannapolis is the hard part. Nice looking brick building with way too much parking alongside and just enough room inside. Took a seat at the counter and was asked about a topper on my coffee before I knew what was happening. Decided a to go with the tastiness of gravy biscuit and fried bologna sandwich. Biscuits were warm, soft, and gravey as advertised, a fancy drizzle of hot sauce set it up nicely. My sandwich came over nicely wrapped in paper as if it were going somewhere other than my plate but I guess it's easier than precision timing. Probably not the most best for me meal I've had but it was good and filling and came with a steady supply of hot black coffee and friendly banter for a reasonable fee. yea breakfast diner!!

When living in Kannapolis from 1997-99, I was a regular at Lee's Sandwich Shop. It's wonderful to visit some 22 years later, I return to the same quality of food and friendliness that brought me there in the first place. Lee's is where the locals meet to eat! Whether breakfast, lunch, or anytime, you'll find the majority of folks know each other, but are welcoming to even the tourist from across state lines. One main breakfast entree in Kannapolis and regional to North Carolina is livermush, and though not to my liking is heavily loved and consumed everyday. If you enjoy eating good food with a local appeal, you might give Lee's Sandwich Shop a try.

Been seeing this place recommended to me for awhile and I finally went and tried it. I used to live in Gastonia, NC and we have a place similar to this (balls grill) and their livermush egg and cheese are good! I was looking for my replacement place, and I think I found it! The food was hot and fresh! The staff was really nice and the best part? The sweet tea is THE BOMB!

The stretch from China Grove through Landis, and into Kannapolis, and on to Concord offers a variety of locally owned, old school cafes, diners, and even the occasional drive-in. Guy Fieri could spend a month here, and still might not do the area justice - this definitely is a "Back To The Past" area of the state. This place is one of the older joints (been around over 60 years now), a truly quintessential, small town, Southern cafe - small, a little tired & worn looking, and usually crowded with locals - law enforcement, truckers, senior citizens, even a few suits. They serve all 3 meals except Sat when the close at 2 PM, and they're closed Sunday The lunch and dinner fare is standard diner fare - burgers, hot dogs, sandwiches, a few soup & salad choices, and a plate choice or 2, including Spaghetti. We tried the Cheeseburger and the Chili Dog, and both were superb, in fact I'd be hard pressed to name more than a hand full of diners in the entire state that serve a better diner style Cheeseburger or Chili Dog. This is a destination place for those two items, and we'll be back - wouldn't mind having a go at that Spaghetti, as well.

Thank you, Yelp, for this find! Visiting the area and needed some lunch, and there's nothing better than a diner style, local joint! The atmosphere is exactly as you're expect for a place that's been around since the 40's - a small 'L' bar, wrapped around the grill/griddle, and mostly 4-top diner style tables in the small, adjacent dining room. Staff is super friendly, and there are clearly regulars all around, chatting it up with each other and the staff. The food is good - nothing to rave about. But then I'd never expect anything gourmet at a joint like this. I'll definitely go back if/when I'm in town again.

So disappointed with my order from Lee's today via Postmates. I I ordered a hamburger and hotdog that were described as having chili, onions, slaw, and then you could select ketchup or mustard. So I ordered both with mustard and my burger I asked for the addition of cheese. I get my order and I got a hotdog with nothing but mustard and a hamburger with cheese and mustard! I also ordered the homemade chips and they were basically raw and dripping in oil. Disgusting. I'm trying to salvage them now by putting in the oven. I just couldn't believe this from this place. I'll try again maybe after things go back to a bit more normalcy.

This is one of the few restaurants that is actually able to piss me off. Every single time I decide that I would like to eat here its closed from them either: being on vacation, or randomly deciding to change their hours. If you wanna run a restaurant, I advise you do the exact opposite of what the owners of Lees do. Food is good tho

Really good eats on the cheap. It's what I would refer to as a bit of a 'hole in the wall' which many old school diners are but it is so worth a try. I can only speak for breakfast. I had liver mush deep fried so it would be hard which is my personal preference. That was accompanied by two eggs scrambled with cheese, a biscuit and hash browns. I'm a southern girl so I had to wash it all down with sweet tea. The entire meal was delicious, staff was friendly and they had a 100 inspection score. I'll definitely return for breakfast and possibly try lunch since the burgers and dogs are supposedly some of the house faves!

This was my first experience at Lee's and not a good one. First of all, we came in and sat out at the patio...and sat and sat, eventually had to go in and let them know we were here. Server came out to take our order, and we hadn't even been given menus yet. Got menus, and ordered. Drinks came, food came, but server NEVER came back to check on us. Eventually had to flag down another server to send ours out. That server told us she was on break, what did I need? She's calling this out to me from across the room. I asked if she would mind coming over. I wanted a refill on my drink and to place an additional order to go. Never brought our tickets out once we were done. Had to go up front to get them as well as my to go order. Still never saw a ticket...was just "rung up". I heard one of the customers ask how much drinks were, and he quoted $2.75 even though the menu says $2.50. So when he rang ours up, I told him that. He said well the system was updated already, and the new menus weren't there yet. I said well, you can't overcharge customers from what the menu states! That's a little illegal thing called FALSE ADVERTISING! Regardless of the amount. There were 2 of us on our ticket, and another couple that was with us. They all got charged extra. He took off 23 cents...rounding down to the "dollars" of my bill, which didn't cover the 50 cents he over charged plus tax. Terrible service, and just okay food. Doubt I would go back.

I visited a friend of mine in Kannapolis for lunch and she said this is the place everyone has to try first. This is a typical small town favorite. When you walk in it is full of regulars! Which is always great but also a tad weird if you are an outsider. The restaurant is small has less than 20 tables to sit at, but there is a breakfast bar area to sit at. The kitchen is wide open so you can see everything get cooked in front of you. The prices are well priced! I ordered the Jr cheeseburger that came with fries for about $7. They have specials everyday. I went on a Thursday which was spaghetti and brisket specials. My friend got the spaghetti and she said it was very tasty! They have burgers, hot dogs, salads, BBQ, and more. Again, the menu it very typical small town diner, which I love!! All small town staples are always good. For the service, it was fast but don't go in expecting 5 star politeness. These servers are used to their regulars and felt a little annoyed that I didn't know what I wanted right when I sat down. Our server was a tad pushy but the place was also packed! I don't want the comment on the service to make you not want to go. What else can you expect from a small down, super packed, small town restaurant. The cashier was super nice! Anyway, coming from an outsider and not a regular I enjoyed my visit to this establishment! Great food and great price! What more do you need?

I wish I had something nice to say... my "extra crispy" fries were mashed potatoes, the hot dog buns were soaking wet and the chili was terribly dry... do not waste your money

I absolutely love Lee's! They're so so friendly and always so kind. Orders and out super fast and their food is great! My family and I have been eating Lee's for majority of my life! Awesome little sandwich shop!

I've been here plenty of times I would say this is a good restaurant I'm actually here right now it's very small and the sweet teas are not sweet and there pancakes are very very small but I just ate a Mickey Mouse pancake and eggs and it was so so good

Nice little family diner. I ordered the Lee's Jr., which is a double cheese burger, and was amazed at how quickly it was served. At first I thought they had microwaved it, but I could clearly see the chef throw the burgers on the flat top. The burger was delicious. I will definitely return.

We yelped for a local place and saw the 5 stars, so we had to try this small town dinner sandwich shop. When I say small, I mean literally seats less than 50 in a space that you'd think would only hold half that. Friendly is free and dished out by each employee we encountered. I like watching my food being prepared, but I counted a dozen health concerns in the 30 min we were there. We choose simple and it was good. BLT, chips and a pickle (slices, not an actual pickle) and a burger with the most delicious wedges I've ever had, plus we split a no-bake cookie, two drinks and our bill was $16.00. Not bad at all!! My only suggestion to the owners is convey they purpose of sanitation. You're handling food, you shouldn't be touching your hair and face even if you are wearing gloves (yuck-change gloves) and if you pull food off the grill and it's hot, don't serve the sandwich you laid on the freezer (yuck) that you touched with your gloved hand after you wiped them on the back of your pants. I will come back and hope that I witness them performing what is taught in Serve Safe Training. I want to try the Philly which seems to be a favorite among the locals that were seated next to us.

Great little diner for some good home cooking. Just as you would expect from a small diner, good tasting inexpensive food. Great quick service as well. Highly recommended.

I have to say that this place has one of the best hamburgers around. I moved a few towns over but still have to go back when I want a good burger. They also have the best chicken and steak phillies and the onion rings are amazing. If you haven't tried it you should!

(Known as the Best burger in town for many, many years.) I lived in Kannapolis for 28 years before knowing it was there. (Tucked back off a side street is why). You'll get a warm welcome when you walk through the door by several smiling faces. I've never had any issue, other than getting a seat b/c it's packed. I'll order carry out before I let a crowd change my mind. Oh, and the onion rings are out of this world! I love this place!! Don't be weary b/c it's small and simple...the food and personalities will prove you made the right choice!

Heard about Lee's through the grapevine and stopped in for lunch. This is a down home locals restaurant with a lunch counter and table service. First... I was greeted and served by an absolutely fabulous lady as we sat at the counter. She was of that vanishing breed that makes you feel like part of the family on first meeting. All the staff were friendly and courteous. We watch some very tasty looking burgers come off the grill, but elected to try the Philly Steak and the Spaghetti special. The Steak was quite good, but might have been improved with the addition of Provolone cheese. The spaghetti came with a nice house salad and several slices of Texas style garlic bread. The sauce was tasty and thick with ground meat. The pasta was a wee softer than I like, but for $7.00 I left happy and full. I will return when in Kannappolis next. I want to try one of those burgers and am told this is the place for a good country style breakfast. Check it out... Not fancy, but a great place to eat and catch up on the local gossip.
