Leftfield has had a glow up recently, and the result is the same brilliant, fish-oriented food they've been serving for years is now served in a stylish and contemporary space that makes it a great special occasions option in Edinburgh.
The stand out feature here is the service. The team are at once both warm and 'on it', making the whole thing a great experience.
I'd recommend getting one of the sharing items for two if you can - the seafood platter is what they're known for, but this time we opted for the halibut and it was sensational.
The desserts are a little less remarkable. A chocolate mousse with strawberry and shortbread that honestly would have benefitted from being a little lighter, and a Basque cheesecake that lacked the charred taste that's made it such a viral hit over the last couple of years.
But regardless of being underwhelmed by the desserts, the rest of the menu is so wonderful it more than makes up for it.
