You must make a reservation in advance, and you won't regret it. The food waa all delicious! So glad we asked for the writer's recommendations because we ended up trying dishes and wines we wouldn't have ordered on our own.

Leftfield has had a glow up recently, and the result is the same brilliant, fish-oriented food they've been serving for years is now served in a stylish and contemporary space that makes it a great special occasions option in Edinburgh. The stand out feature here is the service. The team are at once both warm and 'on it', making the whole thing a great experience. I'd recommend getting one of the sharing items for two if you can - the seafood platter is what they're known for, but this time we opted for the halibut and it was sensational. The desserts are a little less remarkable. A chocolate mousse with strawberry and shortbread that honestly would have benefitted from being a little lighter, and a Basque cheesecake that lacked the charred taste that's made it such a viral hit over the last couple of years. But regardless of being underwhelmed by the desserts, the rest of the menu is so wonderful it more than makes up for it.

What a tiny pleasant and welcoming restaurant, mostly recommanded for a casual and expressive lunch, with open view and nice walk in the Meadow, before and after ! Trust the food and wine, trust the kind and caring team, and enjoy your meal !

This is what an amazing neighborhood bistro should be like. It’s small - only six tables. The food was eclectic and delicious. I loved the view from the dining room with the large picture windows over looking the park and in view of Arthur’s Seat. Our server was very knowledgeable having worked at one of my favorite 3* Michelin restaurants in Spain. It was the last restaurant we got to try on our trip to Edinburgh and it was well worth it. Highly recommended!

Excellent fish, excellent service. We mussels then had halibut to share with cherry tomatoes, olives, capers, potatoes. Exquisite. Tomatoes so good I wanted a few more as there was so much fish! Highly recommended.

Outstanding lunch! Beautiful fish (halibut) cooked to perfection and perfectly balanced entrée of grilled baby pea with pea and mint. Exceptional Basque cheesecake, perhaps even better than the famous one in San Sebastián. Every mouthful was a delight. Lovely gentle service and of course fabulous views towards the Meadows. Can’t wait to return.

Home run of an experience. great food! would be a regular if I lived here.

We went for romantic dinner with my fiancé on our holiday and I was very excited about this seafood restaurant but unfortunately it wasn’t really that great. So we ordered oysters and unfortunately they wasn’t open properly so shells was broken and part of it was on oysters it wasn’t pleasant to eat on romantic dinner also dangerous so I would say chefs need training! Other food mussels, squid and duck leg was very tasty and nice but unfortunately I found hair in my potato and my dinner was absolutely ruined, I told to stuff member what happened and she try to be very careful and quiet so other guests wouldn’t hear what happened, after that situation unfortunately they acting like nothing happened but it did!! We paid our bill and on the way to exit I saw that any of chefs not wearing heats or gloves even after me find hair in my food!!! Absolutely disgusting and unacceptable and out off health department requires

A friend had recommended LeftField, so decided to make reservations here for lunch. Service was quick with the food coming out in about 10 minutes. I ordered the roast hake w/ asparagus. The fish was cooked perfectly: skin was nice and crispy, fish was tender and moist. FYI the entrance looks more like a side door (entering into the bar). No visible markings or signage to indicate such. The door in the corner entering into the dining room is not it. I found this out the hard way when I arrived at 12 and it looked like they just weren't ready yet (not to mention the website saying they open at 12:30). So I nearly lost my reservation when I came back later.

LeftField is absolutely incredible, a true hidden gem. The food, staff, and atmosphere were a 10/10. Highly recommend it to anyone spending some time in Edinburgh.
