The 13 Best Chinese Restaurants Around the Twin Cities

"Legendary Spice — formerly of the Lao Sze Chuan restaurant group, now linked to a Chengdu, China-based restaurant — focuses on classic Szechuan cuisine. The vast menu spans seafood, pork, beef, chicken, and vegetarian dishes, but the highlights are among the Szechuan cold appetizers (preserved duck egg with chili pepper, sliced beef and maw, etc.) and the Chengdu local favorites (spicy mao cai, tea-smoked duck, Szechuan crawfish, etc.)." - Eater Staff

Located on the east side of the U of MN campus, you will find Legendary Spice. There's plenty of off-street parking unless there is an event of which any restaurant would be hard to get to. We walked in and were greeted immediately and sat down. The vibe and decor are mostly Chinese, with a hint of Japanese flair. The music didn't quite match the atmosphere at all, but it was not a big deal. The front of the house explained the ordering system using the tablet. If you are not comfortable with tech, I'm sure they would order for you. We ordered a few seafood dishes and dumplings for appetizers. The flavors were spot on and deliciously spicy for our main courses. I didn't care for the presentation of the dumplings as half of them came broken and outside of the wrapper, which caused the meat to be dry. Also, we received the dumplings after one of our main courses came, so sequencing was off. For these two reasons, I dropped my review by one star. Overall, the flavors were excellent, and I will be coming back to try some different dishes.

This place is truly exceptional, and I really enjoyed my stay. The design is stunning, creating a wonderful atmosphere that feels almost cinematic. It’s impressive how they’ve captured the essence of Asia right here, allowing guests to relax and savor their meals without needing to travel. I did find parking to be a bit challenging, but aside from that, everything from the service to the food was outstanding. I would definitely rate this experience five stars and would love to see even more recognition for it!

Google
Dry Chilli Chicken (5/5) had the perfect level of numbing spice from the Szechuan peppercorn. It came with rice. They give you very generous amount of food. The west lake beef soup is quite soothing and warm (4/5). I like my soup with less salt, but they give me water on the side so I just added more water in. The Sour Pickle & Fish Soup (5/5) lunch special was one of the best sour pickle fish soup that I’ve had. They do not go easy on the spice level and the sourness, so I really love it Hongsue beef noodle ($13) was very delicious (5/5) Generous portion. They can make it spicy upon request. Legendary Braised Pork Rice Noodle ($16): spicy, savory, and a bit tangy (3/5). I like the noodle texture. The noodle soup was very oily, so I wished I could indicate the amount of oil I’d like. Pork chunks were small and fatty. I wish the pork was less fatty. Also, this was almost $19 after tax, so I wished there were more pork. Service sometime slow and sometime quick. They all are very nice.

I was initially hesitant to try legendary spice again after I had it during the covid era (it wasn’t very good during that time), but the food has improved drastically. This is probably one of the best Chinese restaurants around the UMN campus. The dishes we got were more tailored to the spicy palette, but it was as SO GOOD. I highly recommend the green beans for a veggie dish, it was super tender and favorable. I also recommend the three chili chicken for a more sweet and spicy dish. I personally didn’t like the double cooked pork that (my friends did though!), the meat was not as tender as I expected, but the flavor was there. Overall I really enjoyed the dishes here and recommend trying this restaurant! Also while I was there, I saw that they have lunch specials (entree + boba) for a decent price, will definitely come back and try it sometime!

Google
Excellent food! Delicious flavors very similar to my visit to China last month, as long as you can handle some spice. Cute Asian inspired decorations are fitting for a date night. Service was efficient but not so friendly and ordering was via an iPad at each table. Recommend the Sole Fish Fillet w.Mapo Tofu and the Legendary Dry Chili Chicken.

Google
The food was so good!!! I got the spicy noodles and it was something I thought about so much I came back in two weeks. The service was amazing, with the food coming in minutes. The atmosphere was beautiful thanks to their decorations. Love this place!

Google
I've been coming here many times. Lately I've really enjoyed ordering their two flavors combo pot, where you can choose two dishes from section with a cheaper price, which eliminates the need for my friend and I to choose one or the other, because we can order both of the flavors that we want. I chose the Green Peppercorns Beef and Beef in Golden Soup, which were delicious as always. I really like the variety of choices and the atmosphere of the restaurant!

Google
There are 2 legendary spice places a block away from each other so it’s easy to get confused with the restaurant and the hot pot place. The food is good but the restaurant was having trouble with their network so ordering was quite hard. And it took quite some time for our orders to make it to the table. But overall I would go back again for the food even if the service wasn’t 100% up to par.

Yelp
The food is outstanding. Loads of heat as you would expect, but also plenty of ma la numbing and cumin garlic flavor. They will try to sell you on their hot pot dishes, and in fairness, these are great. The variety of things in them will make you eat far more than you should. The pepper in them will make you regret them in the morning, but oh goodness are they good that night. Ok, so why four stars? Because everything is quite high priced AND the entrees are just huge. I'd much prefer smaller portions at smaller prices, and the appetizers (at least the hot ones) are not great value. Main dishes are where this menu is at.

Yelp
I came here with a friend for a quick dinner. I don't love a tablet ordering system. On request we were given printed menus but I went ahead with the tablet, ordering the daily spicy bean noodle special appetizer, Sichuan green beans, and chow fun. (I know, not a Sichuan dish but my friend wanted something non-spicy.) A server brought our order to the table, minus the appetizer. When I asked, he went back to the kitchen and a few minutes later came out to tell me that it wasn't available. He asked me to substitute a different day's special, but none appealed to me, so I told him just to skip it. The green beans were limp and bland. We asked for salt and chili oil, which made them better. Ironically, the chow fun was the best part of the meal, although the portion was small. When it was time to pay, I tapped the screen for our server, and when she handed us the bill, the appetizer was still on it. I had to ask to have the charge removed. The decor of the place is nice, but there are Sichuan restaurants in town with better food, better service, and larger portions, so next time I want a Sichuan meal, I'll go elsewhere.

Yelp
Ordered takeout and will 110% be ordering from here again!! This is a new go-to spot. To start, everything was delivered in a fabric, insulated bag, keeping it hot and making takeout feel a bit fancier than usual. The portions were large and everything was absolutely delicious, especially the dry chili chicken!
google avatar

Yelp
Huge menu and after trying a few apps and a few dinner items I have to say everything was great. Peking dumplings and Mongolian Beef were standouts!

Yelp
Came here to try their lunch menu. It has a good selection of lunch menu (includes a bowl of soup and a small appetizer). The list has the normal Szechuan food that we Americans come to know but the taste is authentic. We have sole fish with black bean and shrimp. Order placed using an iPad on the table. To our surprise, they also has a small liquor bar (and has a daily happy hour as well). Ini Uni boba tea is also available (I think it is owned by the same owner). Parking is free for the first 2 hrs entrance to the building parking is right before the restaurant.

Yelp
Delicious food and great service! We ordered the cumin lamb, eggplant, chili fish, and beef hot pot. We loved all of these dishes, and the spice level was perfect.

Yelp
A restaurant that lacks empathy. We chose this restaurant after reading the reviews. Our target was to enjoy the Legendary Spice Dry Chilly Chicken that so many reviewers recommended. The restaurant has an iPad ordering system. I am all for technology, but with the caveat that there should always be a human in the loop. We order the Legendary Spice Dry Chilly Chicken. What arrives is a Dish with potato fries with some pieces of chicken with bones. Immediately realizing there's been some confusion, we seek clarification. Apparently they have a new dish Legendary Spice Chilli Chicken Winglet. The iPad screen doesn't show the word Winglet in full. The iPad doesn't have any description of the dish. The reaction of the restaurant, not trying to solve that issue and replace or redo our dish was not right. They said we ordered it ourselves on the Ipad so we were stuck with it and can come again another time to order what we wanted to order in the first place. Things can go wrong in the service industry. How a situation is handled can make a big difference. This experience left a bad taste for us. To avoid confusion for future customers, I would recommend changing the name of the new dish so that it doesn't resemble their marquee dish the Legendary Spice Dry Chilly Chicken. I recommend training the employees to repeat the order placed to avoid any confusion. If there's some confusion, train the employees to handle it with listening skills and empathy. The rest of the food was very tasty. Service was poor. Water glasses were not refilled. We had to ask for cutlery and utensils. I'd have loved the evening to have been better. The opportunity to make it a great evening was when we pointed out the confusion in the dishes and that was brushed off. Your mileage may vary.

Yelp
We were so excited to try legendary spice! But not sure if our expectations were too high or if it didn't hold up in the car since we got takeout or something else. Overall I would've expected more spice / flavor from a place called "Legendary Spice". But we'll have to try again another time to see if this was just an off night Items we ordered: Pork Steam Bun (Xio Long Bao) - decent fresh / light pork flavor, definitely would order again Szechuan Wontons - a bit of a disappointment...we were excited for some spicy wontons when we saw they came with chili crisp / oil - but could use more spice. Luckily this is easily remedied by adding some of your own but still Stir-Fried Eggplant with Green Beans - another item we'd order again, eggplant got a bit mushy on the drive home - but they had more flavor than anywhere else we got (not spicy at all though which we prefer spice). We also LOVE Szechuan style green beans so these are always a staple. Dan Dan Noodles - same kind of story here, they were decent but needed some more flavor.

Yelp
I used to live here but now live in a place where there really aren't that many authentic Asian food options. Chinese food is one of them. The variety of food I can pick from is incredible. With help from our two Chinese friends, we picked good dishes. Loveeeed the flavor. Twice Cooked Pork and String Beans are my favorites! The service was good.

Yelp
Paid street parking in front of the building and behind. The ambiance was pleasant and It has a large interior with lofted ceilings. Not at all busy on a Saturday around lunch time. You can wait to be seated and they have a pickup window right inside the front door for tasty takeout. The flavor of my noodle soup was delicious! The chicken fried rice was decent, and the dumplings were yummy. The portion sizes are HUGE so we had leftovers for days! I thought they served alcohol, but I didn't see a menu for it so we stuck to water. Their menu is massive and the server gave us plenty of time to explore it. Good service. We placed the dumpling order first, but they take a while to make, so it was the last thing to come out. Overall worth a try and plenty of food options to explore!

Yelp
Have been frequenting Legendary Spice for years. Don't let the name scare you if you aren't a fan of spice and if you love spice don't expect the standard dishes to deliver a ton of heat but ask them to spice it up. Staff has always been attentive and service is good. They have moved to an iPad ordering system which is a bit impersonal but also very efficient. Dining area is nicely decorated and clean. Be warned they have a very large menu with tons of options. We have our favorites and they never disappoint but it can take some time to find the gems. Some of our favorites: Yang Zhou fried rice is simple but so full of flavor with nice big sweet shrimp and beautifully salty sausage. Chengdu Kung Pao chicken is my quintessential Kung Pao dish with chunks of chicken and peanuts in a tongue tingling ginger and pepper sauce, no added filler. Mongolian beef tenderloin is tender and full of flavor. On our last 2 visits we have found another favorite Tony's Chicken w/ three Chilis. It's lightly breaded chicken in a sweet and peppery sauce that was delicious. Love the Uni Uni bubble tea that shares the space as well. If not for a lack of appetizers/dim sum that we have liked, the exhaustive menu and most dishes coming in at $18+ this would be a solid 5 stars for me.

Yelp
I've been here a few times when they first opened and I absolutely loved it. It was so nice how they had the boba place inside the restaurant as well. All the dishes we ordered were a hit. I remember this eggplant stir fry was memorable. The service was quick and friendly as well. I'll have to stop by again soon!
google avatar

Yelp
Decent place for sichuan food in the cities since there just aren't many options. We tried the pork ribs that were battered and fried and served in a hot pan. The chili flavor was there but not too intense. The garlic eggplant dish was pretty standard- good but very greasy. If you go for lunch the prices are generally better and the dish comes with an appetizer and a soup, which is nice.

Chele V.

Yelp
I was excited to try dry chili chicken for the first time and it had a good savory and numbing flavor, not too spicy, and the boneless meat was easy to eat. The place is clean, comfortable, and well decorated. The tablet menu has photos of the food and it would be even better if they had a short description as well. It's nice to have the call service button for quick help instead of waiting for or flagging a server. Staff is nice. I'm looking forward to trying some noodles on my next visit.
google avatar

Brandyn W.

Yelp
I had the chicken once before and the Szechuan pepper corn kick was potent! This time, it was a little bit tamer, but still good and spicy! I can't wait to try some other items on the menu, but it's hard to when I keep coming back for this dish! I had the cucumber salad for the first time and it was delicious!

Yelp
My daughter and I were there tonight by chance. The place seemed nice enough, fun environment. The server was helpful, almost too helpful. He asked if we wanted the teppanyaki, along with the all you can eat hot pot. I felt the all you can eat hot pot ($35/person) was plenty but he seemed to question it. He asked what broths we wanted but never explained pricing. Again, I figured it was all you can eat so I chose two broths. While going through the line to get our vegetables and protein, the server put a drink on my tray. I really didn't want it as I don't like these Japanese sodas but he insisted and said they're very good. I figured it was included in the price so why not. Again, he never explained pricing. When it came time to get our bill, the server dropped it off. When I went to look at the itemization, (located inside the check folder), the server came over instantly and said he would take care of running my credit card through. It was like he didn't want me to see the itemized bill. I insisted on looking it over. He stood by while I did so. I noticed there was an up charge ($15) for the two broths, there was a charge for the soda ($6/person) that I never drank. The kicker was I noticed on the bill that the server chose a 20% tip for himself when he ran it through. We didn't even get an option to choose. I was already planning on tipping him, but I didn't feel like a 20%+ tip was necessary, considering we got our own food and we did our own cooking at the table. The server basically brought us more napkins and refilled our broth with hot water (which btw, watered down the flavor of the original broth). I get it that the restaurant industry can be tough but I felt like the way they (the server) charged us (with no explanation) was deceiving. The food was plentiful but not great. (The beef tasted weird and I'm sure everything was frozen then thawed for service). I did notice we were one of two parties in the entire restaurant. For a Wednesday night casual dinner with my daughter, I felt the $130 tab was extreme. I don't recommend and will not be going back.

Yelp
We booked a reservation at this place to celebrate my birthday and we were seated upon arrival. There is parking in front of the restaurant and it wasn't too expensive. It was once we were seated that we had trouble finding our server or having any service at all. We were seated right in front too so they couldn't miss us but they served everyone else but us. It was horrible. Beef Szechuan Noodle: 5/5, THE BEST THING THERE. Mai Tai Drink: 5/5, so good! Orange Chicken: 2/5, I prefer the ones at the mall. This did not taste good. Hot pot: 4/5, not bad. They have a la carte or AYCE for $34.99 per person. Shrimp stir-fry: 1/5, not tasty. Overall, the food wasn't bad. Service was so lacking bad and I wouldn't mind coming back but it wouldn't be anytime soon.

Yelp
I am visiting from sichuan province and was looking for food that tasted like home. I was impressed with everything we tried! It's so yummy, the tofu and twice cooked meat are yummy, but my favorite is the boba tea, if you don't order the boba tea ,it's a big lose.

Jeffrey Z.

Yelp
This 金沙玉子豆腐 dish is really good. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Great ambiance and service. Will definitely come back.

Yelp
My fiancé and I have been looking for a Chinese place since we moved here. We tried this and it just wasn't the place for us. It was dead at lunch time, which I guess should have been a sign. Upon entering we were greeted and sat right away. You place your order on an iPad, which I liked. We ordered the Mongolian beef lunch special, which comes with a soup, white or fried rice ($2 charge) and either spring rolls or crab Rangoon. He got the hot & sour soup and crab Rangoon (1 piece). He did not like the hot & sour soup at all. I ordered crab Rangoon and egg drop soup. I had such high hopes for the crab Rangoon because hardly any places serve it out here. It was the worst I've ever had. It was so sweet and I did not taste any crab. The egg drop soup had ok flavor but I didn't care for the random carrots and peas they put in there. My fiancé didn't care for the Mongolian beef. Needless to say, we will not be returning and will be going back to the drawing board to find a good Chinese restaurant. Also, want to point out the staff never checks in except when they bring the food to you. And it's literally placed down at the table and they walk away. Also, note the soup was brought out AFTER the Mongolian beef. And the portion sizes were awful. I forgot to get picks of everything.

Soronny L.

Yelp
Always our go-to spot in Minneapolis for Spicy Sichuan food! Staff is usually pretty attentive, but can be a hit or miss. We always get the Boiled Sichuan Filet and Spicy Beef Tripe.

Yelp
''Twas a pleasant experience dining at Legendary Spice. Located near the U of MN. Street parking is available. The menu offers a variety of things including; boba tea, hot pots, chicken wings, egg drop soup, ice cream, and more. They offer a happy hour 2-5. I had the Kung Pao Tofu which was delightful. I was expecting it to have a bit of spice but I didn't taste any spice at all. The tofu had a slight crisp which I loved! The prices seem ok for the location. Our food came out fast and hot. Our server was very nice and attentive.

Yelp
Legendary Spice has upped its game and improved in quality, earning an extra star from my last visit. This restaurant is bustling and popular with the younger crowd (whereas Tea House nearby tends to have an older crowd and Lao Sze Chuan tends to be empty). The scallion pancake ($8.45) was the only mediocre dish of the night; it was soggy and flavorless. The sliced potatoes with jalapenos ($14.45) was fresh and light and a nice alternative to rice. It's vegan by default. We always love the peapod leaves with garlic sauce ($17.45) which came to us perfectly cooked and savory. Comparatively, the Chinese broccoli with chili ($15.45) tasted okay, but was overcooked (this happened the last time we got it here, too). The chef's special dry chili tofu ($15.45) is vegan by default and featured deep-fried tofu cubes with a crispy outer coating and a soft inner filling. This dish was great. The mapo tofu ($14.45) can be made vegan by omitting pork (pro-tip: you can make this modification via the comments in the old version of the website, but not the newer version; both are still online, so just click around and check which one is better for you if you have special requests). They did a fabulous job of it with a deeply savory sauce and tons of chili and Szechuan peppercorn. Lastly, the Dan Dan Noodle ($9.45) can be made vegan by omitting the pork. It features a peanut sauce and tasted good. All told, Legendary Spice is (as of late 2021) the best Szechuan-focused restaurant in Minneapolis proper. Grand Szechuan in Bloomington is slightly better in my book, but that's a longer drive. Nearby within a few blocks, Tea House is decent, and Lao Sze Chuan is middling.

Yelp
Terrific food, high quality Schezuan food with so much flavor. I've been here over 5 times and the food is always amazing. The Legendary Dry Chili Chicken is one of my favorite items in the Twij Cities. Hard to not get that, but the menu is huge and offers something for everyone. Service is generally fine, has hiccups here and there when busy. Nice space and lots of street parking around, nearly all of which is metered at this point.

Caleb R.

Yelp
Really really good Chinese food with authentic Szechuan food. Nice interior with Chinese theme lanterns and decorations. Service was quick and friendly!
google avatar

Kelly R.

Yelp
So yummy! Was so happy to finally try this. We ordered the Spicy and Sour Crystal noodle (which ended up being my favorite), the house special spicy fried rice, and the mapo tofu. It was all very delicious and I felt the soup definitely had heat to it. I would definitely recommend this place. The service was fantastic and attentive. The dining room was beautiful! I loved the unique ceilings and decor.

Yelp
Spicy. Super hot. Did I say spicy?? Delicious!!!!! We will be back anytime we are here in town.
google avatar

Chassidie L.

Yelp
Legendary Spicy does it all. From dim sum items to hot pot, they have an array of different Chinese cuisines, but they are most known for their Schezwan style of food (spicy & numbing). Also, the boba place, Uni Uni is located inside there! My friend and I got the 3 cup chicken ($16), Yunnan Fried Flat Noodle ($14), and Green Onion Pancake ($8). The flat noodles were super delicious! By far the tastiest thing we had that night. However, the 3 cup chicken was extremely overcooked. It was so overcooked it was practically inedible. That is what is making this review a 3/5. I will definitely be back to try more of their flat noodle dishes though. Not too shabby if you're looking for a Chinese restaurant in town.

Justin K.

Yelp
We have been here multiple times and has been great. Good service. Lots of options and flavors for every taste.

Darrel B.

Yelp
The food is pretty good if you order right, but the tablet based menu is not very informative and there are multiple dishes with the same name and no explanation of what is different, and staff had no idea either. There are some really tasty dishes and our favorite is the dry pot vegetables but I find most dishes while tasty aren't spiced aggressively enough for a Sichuan restaurant with this name. We like the cold noodles, a spicy rice noodle dish, spicy fried tofu and definitely the vegetable dry pot. Prices are really high and the interior is really worn out with lawn chair seat cushions on the worn out cracked and patchy vinyl booth seats. Lunch for three is well over $100. Would really like to be able to offer a higher rating but it just isn't warranted. I'll be back because it's the best Sichuan I've found in the area, and always hoping it will get better.

Janet W.

Yelp
Great service! Sesame Chicken was saucy and delicious! Wontons are bubbly crispy! We will definitely be back!
google avatar

Hnou V.

Yelp
Food here is really spicy. It's the numbing kind too. If you want hot pot, it's a separate menu. Don't be like me and accidentally order the "dry hot pot." They also have Uni Uni boba tea here. The yogurt boba is really thick -- almost like a shake. I liked it but probably will stick to milk tea next time since I like to drink instead of eat my tea.

Man P.

Yelp
My favorite dish. The flavor is so good! I come here every two weeks just for this dish!

Yelp
I've heard about Legendary Spice and their "Dry Chili Chicken"for the last year.Decided to go give it a try today since I was near the U of M.Huron, the street that the restaurant is on is a very busy street.Parking is by meter. I walked in around 13:00 and it was relatively quiet. My server was friendly and very smiley.I ordered the chicken egg rolls right away because I love egg rolls. They were tasty, but not the greatest. They were oily and overcooked.Next I got right to the main entree. As stated,a lot of my colleagues said that they love the dry chili chicken.Today the dry chili chicken was way off in my opinion. There were way too many chili's and the chicken was very salty. It was overpowering. My wife ordered the General Tao chicken and was not impressed at all.Her chicken was sweeter than other General Tao and we aren't use to it.The white rice was really dry to the point that we had to keep asking for glasses of water. I know restaurants may have bad days??! So I want to try them again since so many of my colleagues enjoyed their food.

Dao P.

Yelp
The food I have previously ordered had some of the authentic ingredients you would find in Chinese cuisine, however, the items I ordered had a funky tasting over saltiness that I cannot really describe. I wish that single element wasn't part of the dishes. Not sure if I would order again because all the items I ordered prior were so cloyingly salty that I couldn't finish them.

Yelp
** Great Atmosphere here ** Good Food ** Service was slow If you like spicy I recommend it for you guys , Very good northern Chinese Cuisines!

Quách N.

Yelp
The food is great, very friendly staff, and awesome music for Chinese music lovers. Highly recommend for special occasions.

Yelp
Very good and authentic spot by the Minnesota campus. Had the pea pod tips, Ma po tofu and beef chow fun. Would eat here again and recommend to anyone who likes spice and authentic Chinese food.

Anthony K.

Yelp
We drive over 30 minutes just to eat here! They have great food and great service. We enjoyed the Dry Chili Chicken and Twice Cooked Pork. Definitely one of the best Chinese restaurants in the Twin Cities!
google avatar

Sunyang F.

Yelp
As a local Chengduese, I found their food is the most authentic in the Minneapolis area. People may find the dish a bit too spicy, but that's the reflection of true authenticity. Only good home made hot chili oil can have that effect:)

Yelp
Some of the best Chinese food you can have in minnesota. I have been to China a few times in my life and nothing lives up to the quality of food then here.

Yelp
Do not go here if you want good service! The food was decent but not worth the awful service. Our server had to come back multiple times and re-ask what we wanted, even sending another server to re-check what we wanted. Unless we waved her down, she did not come back to check on us. We had to constantly remind them of what we ordered because we were missing multiple items. This was our second time visiting after bad service the first time around and we will not be returning.

Yelp
Yang was an awesome bartender and severer. The food and drinks were awesome! Love the quiet game day atmosphere!

Yelp
Food was good but worst service ever. I did not leave them a tip after being forced to pay for noodles that tasted bad. spent over 200 dollars and the experience was ruined by the dishonest servers.

Yelp
So many places are closed for dine in so this was a welcome change from that. Masks are worn and you have to sign in when you arrive. Service was very good, and the food was bursting with flavor. The Szechwan green beans are superb. We took the server's advice and ordered the lemon shrimp and it was delicious too. The dry chili chicken was spicy as they indicated on the menu, and a little salty for my taste but still very good. This is our new go to spot when in that area.

Yelp
I found this place thanks to living social deal. And so thankful I did, as it's not far from my office and the food was fresh and delicious. The staff is very warm and welcoming, although, not everyone is fluent in English. I admired the determination to not allow language to be a barrier. (Some employees used a translator app) I was told that the day I came in is the Chinese moon cake festival aka mid-autumn festival. And due to their holiday, they offered rice cakes at a discount. I've never had it before and after trying it, it was unique and I may have it again in the future. I also was trying to find an Asian restaurant that sold seafood pancakes, this place only has the scallion option so I ordered a crepe like entree instead. The food was exceptional and tasty, the service was great, and the place was very clean. They seem to have a full bar, but I'm unsure as I didn't have a drink today. Overall, great place with great quality food.

Yelp
I went here by recommendation of a few coworkers when I was suffering from a huge noodle craving! I went during a late lunch break during the week. The restaurant was naturally pretty empty. My server Edward was excellent! He was extremely friendly and attentive. I rarely ask servers for their names but Edward provided such great service that I did so that I could mention him! I told Edward about what I was hoping to get and he helped me select the fried noodles with chicken. The food was served quickly. It was pretty delicious! The portion was pretty good and I was so hungry that I ended up eating all of it. But it's a good amount to share with another person along with another dish. Definitely planning to go back and try out others dishes soon!

Yelp
It's still pandemic times, but things are starting to reopening in a limited capacity. My brother and I were craving some Chinese and found that Legendary Spice was open...we were excited. We scoped out the place and their measures in place seemed pretty good (except the whole indoor thing, but what can you do). The tables are spaced. Masks are required when entering. The service is fairly quick and the staff is nice. Have some patience in general as this is new for everyone (and apparently how reviews are changing). The food and drinks: Cucumber Cooler - delicious, light and refreshing (alcoholic and served in a martini glass) Chicken wings - on the small side, but delicious crispy and good in flavor and even better dipped in the grounded chili stuff Szechuan wontons - they were fine, simple enough, but not really anything special, wouldn't recommend them but if you're in the mood for some wontons/dumplings and they're on sale, then go for it Combo Dry Hot Pot - this was awesome and totally hit the spot. A good amount of proteins is in there (my friend said there wasn't as much seafood as there usually is, but I wouldn't know). It's a definitely sharing item TLDR: they serve delicious food and good prices. totally worth checking out in the neighborhood. excellent for that good Chinese spice craving.

Yelp
My husband, who is from Sichuan, and I have frequented Legendary Spice for the past 3+ years, and it's quite frankly our favorite Chinese restaurant in the Twin Cities. Their dry chili chicken is a fan favorite, and they do a good mapo tofu too (which is a staple Sichuanese dish and one we both have strong opinions about). Definitely fresher ingredients than the other Chinese places in the area, and the restaurant itself is definitely cleaner. Bathrooms have always been clean for us and accessible, and the service has met expectations. Parking is a tad difficult though (street only). We've been meaning to try the hot pot here but haven't yet because we keep getting our favorites...
