Love, love, loved Legends Eatery! The atmosphere was so quaint, cozy and chill. The wait staff was fun and friendly. The food was simply amazing! Check out the pics! Definitely, absolutely, without a doubt, recommend!

We made a reservation for Saturday with Dan the owner/chef. He was very friendly over the phone. We wanted dinner before going to the play at the Benedum. We arrived early for our 5.30 reservarion and they were able to seat us straightaway. The menu has good options and the place is BYOB, we saw many tables with wine or beer. Our server was great and attentive cosidering how many tables she had. The place is small and it gets wuite loud in there. But the service is efficient, we got bread and oil with our drinks. The entrees come with a soup or salad, both were good options. We got the arancini was great, you get 4 pieces with blue cheese on a bed of spinach. For entrees we got the chicken Romano, Chicken Parmigiana, the special scallops and shrimp and a GF rice linguine was tasty. Overall for being on the Northside this is a great Italian spot. The size does make it loud in there, but the tables are spaced comfortably so that you do not feel cramped. The coconut cream pie was the hit of the evening and so big it fed 3 of us.

I have been wanting to try Legend’s for a long time, several years now. And, I finally did it. I tried a pretty solid range of items: the penne vodka, apple pie, house made focaccia bread, and side salad. Let’s start with the main course, the penne vodka. I’ve actually never had this dish before, but I thought it was very well made! The portion was definitely adequate, and it was clearly high quality. It’s quite creamy, and doesn’t taste like vodka at all. A tad bit of sweetness to it too. There’s not much prosciutto, and it was all just kind of one clump in the bottom of the pasta, but it was still good. The side salad served complimentary with it was actually surprisingly good. Not just lettuce and cucumbers like in many other places. They had carrots, onions, spinach, blue cheese, and a very tasty ranch. The ranch, while very good, had a sort of grainy-ness to it, in texture. Other than that, fresh and very good! The little pieces of bread were also a lovely complimentary treat. I believe they are made in house, and I loved them. They’d be even better with a little oil (and I think they do have that option as an appetizer). Finally, the caramel apple pie. It was good, but a bit of a let down. The crust was kind of flavorless, and there wasn’t really a strong caramel flavor to it. It was still good, and a great serving (although also pretty expensive), but not the best I’ve had. All in all, a very good, quantity, little Italian spot on the North side. Great spot for celebrations and high quality food. I would recommend!

Finished plates. Amazing tastes. Quaint old-school Italian restaurant with new-school culinary flavors and fusions. Fantastic dinner on a spring Tuesday evening in Pittsburgh.

WOW!!!!! I stopped in for my second time yesterday while on my way back to Cleveland from a work trip. My brother and I stopped randomly on our way to Hastings for family over the summer and could not get over what a gem we stumbled across. Genuinely bring it up at least once a week. So of course I had to get my co workers to give it a go. Convinced them to go out of our way to stop in. They were just as blown away as my brother and I were! Food, atmosphere and vibes are all immaculate. The owner and staff were absolutely wonderful. Food so amazing my family made me haul 4 dishes 2.5 hours home for them to enjoy to!! Thank you all so much! We can’t wait to stop back in!!! (Pic from the first time bc the second I was too busy inhaling everything)

We were visiting from out of town and found this place on Yelp. As fairly well-traveled Italians, we have pretty high standards when it comes to Italian food and we were BLOWN AWAY. First, we loved that it was BYOB. However, there is a $2.50 corkage fee per person. We started off with the Margherita appetizer which is a small pizza... it was delicious! We also got the lightest bread for the table with olive oil dipping sauce - yum. We have been to many Italian restaurants that do not serve a salad option with your entree but not Legends! We had the choice of a salad or the soup and we all opted for the salad which was the perfect size. For our dinners, we all ordered something different and there was not one scrap of food left. Definitely go hungry (like we did!) because the portions are fairly large. One pro tip- try the specials-it was to die for. Would 100% recommend and cannot wait to come back the next time we're in Pittsburgh!

We stopped in here after a few samples over at Threadbare. Very small joint, classic Italian style and atmosphere. Place was packed house! We brought a bottle of cider for the table. Waitress was on top of our table, as well as every other table she had. Her suggestions were great and on point. We had the Burrata for appetizer which was delightful, sorry we forgot to take a pic! Eggplant Parm and Chicken Scallopini for main courses. Will definitely be back to try more!

Google
Went here for dinner. I had the gnocchi bolognese and it was terrific. They don't over salt their dishes and the portion was big. My wife had the chicken Parm and that was very good too. They use a thinner breading which doesn't make for a crunchy chicken cutlet. The place is cozy but that just adds to the atmosphere. And the service was great as well. I would definitely recommend a reservation as a smaller place this good fills up quick.

Yelp
Really gotta love this place! It's small, local, authentic and friendly. They really make you feel like one of the family! It's like a party there every time we go to eat. Their food is incredible. We have probably ordered everything off of their menu. The sauces are terrific, the choices are vast-anyone can find something to eat! It is BYOB and they charge a corking fee for each person partaking. You will probably go home with leftovers-which makes it even better! You get to experience the dinner all over again the next day!

Yelp
Legends Eatery opened in 2002 and serves old-school Italian-American cuisine in a casual atmosphere. Its menu lists appetizers such as mussels and meatballs, entrees such as veal parmigiano and fettuccini alfredo, and desserts such as fried cannolis and chocolate cake. The restaurant serves beverages such as sodas, coffees, and teas but is BYOB for alcohol. The restaurant's website recommends making a weekend reservation at least two weeks in advance, so I instead ordered food through their website for pickup. After 24 minutes, the restaurant emailed me that my food was ready. The restaurant is located near Allegheny General Hospital and appears to have limited parking, so my husband dropped me off and drove around the neighborhood while I went inside the restaurant to pick up the food. An employee immediately and kindly greeted me, handed over my bag of food, asked if I needed any utensils, and thanked me. Here are my reviews for my foods: Penne blackened shrimp ~ $21 - 4.5 stars - The penne pasta was cooked well, and it was topped with delicious shrimp, cherry tomatoes, portobello mushrooms, oil, and garlic. On the side were a small salad with my choice of balsamic dressing and an add-on of a few small slices of focaccia bread. Caesar salad ~ $18 - 3.5 stars - The mixed greens, olives, red peppers, and cheese were very fresh. I had not ordered chicken, but the restaurant included chicken. Caesar dressing was in separate containers. Meatball parm sandwich ~ $17 - 3 stars - My husband ordered this hoagie, and he ate only half of it. The hoagie roll was from Breadworks, and it contained large meatballs, cheese, and sauce. On the side was a small salad with mixed greens, carrots, onions, cucumbers, cheese, and my husband's choice of ranch dressing. Mozzarella ~ $10 - 3 stars - Large triangular chunks of mozzarella cheese were fried, and my husband ate most of them. On the side was marinara sauce. I also had ordered a 6.75-ounce bottle of Perrier for ~ $6, but I did not have a bottle opener to open it, so I saved it for later.

Yelp
Detailed Review: Spinach Ravioli: 4/5 I enjoyed this but I would have liked more garlic. Blackened Shrimp: 3/5 I only tried a couple bites but it was pretty good. The pasta seemed to be a little undercooked but not that noticable. Heavy on the garlic in this one. Chocolate Cake w/Ice Cream: 3/5 Very rich cake. We only had enough ice cream to get through half of the cake. The slice was massive. Overall, I wasn't disappointed but I wasn't blown away. The service was a bit slow but we went on a Friday night. Also this is BYOB so make sure you bring it if you want it.

Yelp
My friend and I had dinner at Legends on a Tuesday night before attending an event in the area. I've visited several times in the past with older family members, and the crowd during our visit this time around matched that same demographic. I ordered the penne vodka (with plenty to take home) that came with my choice of wedding soup. My friend ordered the mozzarella small plate as her meal. We had no problem finding a table on a Tuesday night around 5:30pm, but I would recommend a reservation if wanting to visit during a peak time as it is a small dining area. Also note that it's BYOB.

Halie G.

Yelp
Family owned delicious Italian foods & dessert restaurant located in the North Side. This restaurant is BYOB, highly recommend reservation if you're going on the weekend- they have a very small bar area that's open seating. The most fresh and incredible pasta! Their coconut cream pie is to die for!!!

Beth Ellyn D.

Yelp
Stopped in for lunch on a weekday. I have been here several times for dinner but this was my first time for lunch. The service was good and food was out to us pretty fast. The chicken Caesar salad was my favorite (note it had olives). I assumed (my fault) that the sandwich would have been hot so I was a little disappointed when it was cold but again, I think that was my fault. Overall it was a nice lunch stop close to the hospital. Personally I like legends best for dinner with a nice bottle of wine (byob) and good company. It's small inside so make reservations!

Karlyn G.

Yelp
What a fun surprise! My Dad and I were walking around his old neighborhood and we were headed to another restaurant, but we saw the holiday lights at Legends and decided to stop in. It was about 4:45. We didn't have a reservation, which is recommended on weekends, but they were able to seat us as long as we finished before a 6pm reservation came in. My Dad got the chicken parm and enjoyed it. I decided to get the veal with peppers and it was better than expected; it had perfectly cooked veggies, solid portion, balanced Marsala sauce, yum. We each started with the wedding soup - really good. We were too full for dessert but our server said they were homemade. Another time!

Chris K.

Yelp
I will say I have loved Legends when it's the weekend but during certain days it's just not as good - Most of the time I do take out and the food is amazing , but every so often it's not the same. I'm assuming it may be the cook on staff at the time. Overall. They are great- the food is soooo good. Just be sure to order at night or the weekends. The ambiance is very much a ma and pa authentic Pittsburgh original and that's what I love about it. Everyone is so sweet and it's such a fun place to eat. Definitely come here.

Yelp
It had been a long day. Cold and rainy, we had driven from Columbus, visited my friend, skipped lunch, and wrestled with a programmed door lock to our airbnb. I was hungry. It was Monday. I was getting grumpy. Everything was closed, BUT Legends was open. I had always wanted to try this place, but I have a long list of favorites in the Burgh. Hubby and I decided to take out and split an order of Chicken Scallopini, which came with soup, parmesan potatoes, strips of slightly cooked veggies, and focaccia. While waiting, one of the chefs was eating a concoction of leftovers. It looked wonderful. My mouth was watering, and the aromas were tantalizing. Our meal was ready. Packaged well, it was now pouring and freezing outside. Heavy winds nearly knocked me off my feet on the 2 block walk to the airbnb, and then there was the dreaded door lock at the airbnb. Let me tell you, every bite of this meal was delicious. I could have pigged out on the focaccia alone. Maybe if we had eaten in, they would have brought more. Hubby and I are fairly light eaters, so we had just the right amount for us. There is an Italian name for the Italian Bean Soup. The soup was tasty. The chicken scallopini smothered in mushrooms hit the spot. I wanted something different. Staff was welcoming, prices fair. And now I have yet another favorite spot in the Burgh. For those of you with family members in AGH, this is just across the street. A real find.

Katie S.

Yelp
We got takeout from this place and the food was great. Everything was delicious. The portions were a bit small, especially given the price, but ultimately we walked away really happy with our meal.

Cheyenne R.

Yelp
What a lovely little find. We started with the burrata appetizer, it was tasty and refreshing, the cheese appeared to be fresh and their balsamic glaze is delicious. My partner got the chicken scallopini which was the perfect blend of sweet and savory, I had the penne vodka which was surprisingly vodka-ey, I loved it. We saved room for dessert and enjoyed the cannoli with a cup of coffee. Staff was friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Overall we had a really great experience and will have to come back.

S J.

Yelp
A very small Italian restaurant, must have reservations. (15 seats+) but homemade food. Pork chops, steak, spots, sea bass, linguini, yummy salads! Our server was very good, and answered all our questions. I had to take off a star; the heat was unbearable. Had floor fans, which didn't help much. But this is my favorite quirky restaurant. Can't wait to go back when the weather is cooler.

Nathan M.

Yelp
We had a good meal I was very surprised of the meal we got. We ended up with the chicken Parm everyone raved about it on reviews and I was very disappointed I will not be getting it again for the price and size of it very disappointed in this dish. The pasta was good that came along with it The Caesar was good and was very happy to share it with my fiancé the soup we had was very good. We got the apple pie for dessert and this would have to be the best part of our meal and would indulge in it again. Overall service was good very helpful with everything. The ambiance is an old Pittsburgh Italian restaurant I'm sure some stories have come out of here through the years.

Jaclyn K.

Yelp
Legends is inconspicuously located on the North Side, right near the hospital. Reservations are definitely recommended, as it's a pretty small spot with about 10 tables inside. Be sure to give yourself enough time to find parking, too, as you may need to drive around a few times to find street parking. The meal started out with the best bread and oil. Seriously, we ordered numerous baskets for the table because it was that good! The side salad was very fresh and loaded with veggies and cheese on top. Based on other Yelp reviews, I decided to go with the spinach ravioli, which was delicious. The portion size wasn't as large as some of the others at my table, but there was still enough for a few leftovers. Save room for dessert at the end, because they also provide complimentary fudge to end your meal!

Doll G.

Yelp
Visited with a group of six: two had the blackened fish special, I had eggplant parm with a side of pasta, another had spaghetti and meatballs, and last was beans and greens with Cajun chicken. We all had appetizers too (and desserts ). The service was superb and the venue, while small, was very nice -- and smelled great! Very generous portions!

Miles K.

Yelp
Wow. I'm not somebody that eats much Italian food, but this was easily the best Italian food I've ever had. I will say that we just walked in a Saturday and we didn't know they get so packed, so it wouldn't hurt to make a reservation if you're planning on going during a weekend. Beans and greens is a signature dish here. It has Cannellini beans, greens, sautéed garlic, red pepper, and Romano shaved ok top. I feel as though it'd be worth stopping just for these. It was so flavorful, and the greens didn't heave that thing aftertaste that dark, leafy veggies can have. The broth was fantastic and went really well with the breadsticks they serve. A special of the day was a bruschetta that had balsamic drizzle, tomato, and garlic served on a thin pita. The pita had that slightest bit of crunch in the outside and that soft, chewy inside. They used the balsamic sparingly so it didn't over power the dish, and it is something I'd be happy to eat any time. I tried the Spots Romano, and the fish was was lightly coated and fried to a great, golden brown. There was again that subtle crunch and you immediately get a gentle touch of lemon and parsley add to the flavor of the spots. The dish came with some mashed potato's and some mixed vegetables which didn't particularly stand out, but I'd have no issue eating again. I took a cannoli home for dessert and again, they were delicious. Lastly, the staff was nice enough to let us grab a quick dinner in between reservations and they treated us well. I would highly recommend this spot if you're looking for a solid, Italian meal.

Rebecca H.

Yelp
This place is starting to become a regular date night staple for my fiancé and I! They have some of the best beans and greens in the city and the atmosphere is the perfect combination of eating out but also feeling like you're in the comfort of someone's home. if you're looking for a home down Italian restaurant, look no further!

Hope M.

Yelp
Aww this is such a cute and tasty hidden GEM!!! This was our first time here and we totally beat the dinner crowd I guess. It's a tiny inside and we had no reservations but it got SO CROWDED (in a good way!) Love the inside it feels just like home. The food was so tasty and the people here work SOOOO hard. All the workers are so hard working and so NICE!!!!!! Thank you for a great first experience. Please come here and support their business! The staff is all so wonderful :) Also they have complimentary fudge at the end of your meal and the PB one was so yummy!! We will also be bringing our own wine next time FUN!!! :)

Yelp
Legends has been on my list of places to visit for a few years now. We decided this would be the perfect restaurant to celebrate my mom's birthday dinner. I called a week ahead to see if they took reservations and were sent straight to voicemail. Someone quickly returned my call and accepted the reservation. He was very friendly on the phone. We had a group of 6 and found street parking right in front of the restaurant. There was one other table of 6, and then we were the only other customers. I did see them pack lots of takeout orders, but no other guests came in. I thought that was really odd since I heard how busy they always are. Our waitress Sara was amazing and will request her again next time! She explained the specials, and gave recommendations for appetizers. The restaurant is BYOB, so we took a bottle of Barbera. We went with Sara's recommendations to order their bruschetta (which is literally pizza). We ordered 1 with red peppers and artichokes, and 1 margherita. Both were really good. The dough was the best part. For my entree I ordered the mussels and shrimp over linguine. She informed me that the diablo sauce was extremely spicy. I asked if she could use their house marinara sauce since I really wanted to try that anyway. She was able to substitute the sauce, thank goodness! Each entree came with a salad (house or caesar for an upcharge). I ordered the house salad with balsamic. I liked it alot! The people at our table that got Caesar also loved it. On Tuesdays you can add a side of greens and beans for just 99 cents! I added them in addition to my seafood pasta. They may have been the best greens and beans I've ever had. Perfectly garlicky and almost creamy from the beans cooking for so long. I loved it and will order a full sized portion next time. The mussels and huge shrimp were both cooked perfectly. The linguine is homemade at Penn Mac. I loved that it was very al dente. The portion size was huge. I can't wait to get this dish again! Some other popular menu items at our table were chicken scallopini, penne with vodka sauce and a meatball, chicken parm, and a salmon dish that was the special of the day. Our waitress told us what types of desserts they had, so we didn't know the prices. Each dessert was equivalent to 2 normal serving sizes. We definitely could have shared them, but now we know for next time. I ordered the coconut cream pie, and it was about ¼ of a pie lol! I barely put a dent in it. Now I have pie for the week! Everyone also loved the caramel apple pie. They make their desserts in house, and they were about $10 each. Definitely don't skip the dessert. My mom loved it for her birthday, and our waitress Sara really made it special. I can't wait to go back already!

John E.

Yelp
Penne, pasta with vodka sauce, and prosciutto is amazeballs! Just a delicious place to eat for sure! Service is quick and it's a small and slightly romantic experience to dine in.

Jesus L.

Yelp
Found this place randomly while on vacation with my family, and it's really, really good. Maybe Pittsburgh people already know what's up, IDK, but if you're in the area and/or it's not on your radar yet, get there. You will not be disappointed. Great service, and legit, obviously house-made food. We were blown away by how good it was.

Jayme B.

Yelp
We ordered takeout from Legends on NYE. We live on the northside and have passed this place millions of times, but we never tried it. My only regret of this meal is that I wish I would have tried Legends sooner. I am not an Italian food expert, but everything was so flavorful and fresh. We ordered the greens and beans and mozzarella triangles for starters. The cheese pull on the mozzarella triangles was perfection! I had the Spinach Ravioli for my main course and my husband had the alfredo with blackened chicken. We were both extremely happy with our meal. We will definitely be back!

John R.

Yelp
What a great way to start a football weekend. The restaurant was walking distance from our ABB. Food was all very fresh and flavorful. Portions were generous. Service was OUTSTANDING!! THIS IS A BYOB restaurant, so checkout the menu online and bring wine to pair with your food. P.S. Save room for desert!

Pat W.

Yelp
My wife and I were visiting Pittsburgh and happened upon this place. What a treat! The food was great and the portions were substantial. The owner is the chef, and while I thought he looked like a young Mick Fleetwood, he prepared his food like a master. The atmosphere is casual and friendly. There is an older woman server who comes off a little grudge, but it is more an act that an attitude. As the meal unfolded she became friendlier and more interesting. She was a hoot. I would highly recommend this restaurant.

Brandi W.

Yelp
Awesome little gem in Pittsburgh. Great service and atmosphere. Rice balls and fried mozzarella appetizers were great. Had chicken parm sub and godfather sub.

Dena S.

Yelp
Super happy with experience. Staff is exceptional Food is all homemade. I had pasta w mussels and shrimp. My husband had pasta w meatballs. We had bruschetta appetizer , soup and salad. All was excellent. Highly recommend!!!

Sylvia W.

Yelp
The food was good- Magee Caramel Butter Pecan Cake /Margherit pizza-wait too long for a take out order

Marcella M.

Yelp
They have really Nice staff, good food but I do wish they had more of a variety I recommend the salad with balsamic, it was super tasty

Spencer S.

Yelp
Came in early on a Friday and was still able to get a table for two without a reservation. Glad we got there kind of early as it got much busier as the night wore on. Because of our late lunches, we decided to share an appetizer and entree. The entree came with soup or salad and patrons also get complimentary bread and olive oil. All that to say, we still wound up with plenty of food. We ordered the bruschetta appetizer and chicken parmigiana with Italian wedding soup. Food was flavorful and fresh, portions were generous and the waitstaff were attentive and quick to refill glasses and provide recommendations. The restaurant is relatively small which makes it feel cozy and intimate. I think we will definitely be back to sample more of the menu!

Dan H.

Yelp
Stopped here for lunch and ate off the specials board. Fresh mozzarella on top of salad was awesome as well as the soup. Our server was nice efficient and genuine. Great place great food. Wish I lived closer as I would make it a regular spot

D.S. A.

Yelp
I used to live on the Mexican War Streets and in Manchester. As a result, I have been to Legends Eatery many times. I usually take my mother once or twice a year when I visit Pittsburgh. I haven't been since the owner, Chef Dan, reduced the number of items on the menu. I'm sorry to report that the food has gone downhill in the past two or three years. The gnocchi bolognese was very bland. While we were warmly greeted by Chef Dan at the door, all three of the female servers looked like they had sucked on a lemon. They have ZERO personality.

Veronica S.

Yelp
This is a dine-in delivery place. I had high expectations based on reviews but my experience was not great. I ordered the beans and greens. Greens were good and fresh. Beans were canned. Salmon was added and served with the plastic wrap by accident. Our server took this charge off of the bill thankfully but this is the sort of thing that someone could choke on. The salads were only a handful of mixed greens and at $6 this seemed ridiculous. My party enjoyed the chicken and veal parmesan but at $26 per plate this is overpriced in my opinion. The salads are only included with entrees. When we received the bill, there was a surprise 10% supply chain fee. This should have been something that we were aware of before dining. Our server was great and we heard her telling the kitchen about the error with the plastic on the salmon. All in all I probably won't visit again. It seems like this place is a better take out operation for pasta and pizza, everyone seems to love it. I hope my experience is helpful.

Andranik Z.

Yelp
Absolutely amazing, best Italian restaurant in town. Possibly even best restaurant in town considering the service and hospitality.

Sophie P.

Yelp
In Pittsburgh for a few days from Philly, Stopped in after the children's museum. OMG It was soooo good. I will definitely be back when I'm back in Pittsburgh. Nick, was awesome!!

Abby K.

Yelp
The restaurant may not look like more than a hole in the way, but it has some of the best Italian food in the city. I'd recommend reservations, but take the seats at the bar if they don't have a table. The staff was friendly and entertaining, and you basically have a chef's table view of the kitchen. From the appetizers, which aren't need - you won't do hungry, to the dessert, the portions were large and flavorful. I had the Penne Vodka, but go for the specials, you won't be disappointed.

Carrie M.

Yelp
Such an amazing little place!! Make a reservation because the dining room is small! The staff is so friendly and the service is quick but not rushed. The food was great. The beans and greens app was recommended to us by a friend. Very light and refreshing. Pro tip: dip your bread in the beans and greens juice for an out of body experience. Wedding soup was delicious. I got the chicken Parmesan and my boyfriend got the fettuccine Alfredo. For dessert we split a massive slice of apple pie. They gave us complementary homemade fudge to end the night-but I couldn't possible eat another bite. One of the best Italian places in pittsburgh. Don't forget-BYOB.

Yelp
Pretty decent staple Italian. Got takeout one rainy night. Could tell the noodles and sauce were fresh. Flavor was good and wish I had eaten in. My only complaints were the portion sizes. Smaller than I would have expected from an Italian place. Also have to say the Caesar salad I paid extra for was wilted and just a house salad with Caesar dressing. Would try again but would want to eat there. I hear the atmosphere is really nice.

Yelp
Salmon was excellent as were the spots, and good coconut cream pie. BYOB nice feature, competent waitstaff. Bread was warm, but little taste.

Yelp
Wife And I went here for dinner last week. We made a reservation before hand as it is not a big place and it generally fills up fast. Suggestion dont come without a reservation. Once we got there we where brought right over to a table and seated. They brought over some hot bread with olive oil which was delicious and took drink orders The staff where super friendly and really very nice and helpful. I had the chicken part with spaghetti. The service here is fantastic. The chicken part was good and among the better that I have had not the best but definitely good. I would highly recommend Legends Eatery and I will definitely be going there again.

Yelp
Food is always delicious and the staff is just the nicest. What a hidden gem in the north side.

Yelp
Came here for lunch and was pleasantly surprised. Friendly staff, great homemade food, small but cozy atmosphere. I got the spinach and cheese ravioli and they were fantastic! The bruschetta was just ok. I had much better elsewhere. I liked that they put olives on the side salads. Yum! The salad was a little small lol. Very petite if you will. I appreciate places with homemade food so I will be back!

Yelp
Very solid and respectable 4 stars for Legends (for a place to be 5 stars it has to blow my mind, and while Legends didn't, it was really good; i'd 100% return). We had company visiting for the weekend and I love Italian food. Friends too had recommended Legends to us, so we went there. Pro Tips: 1) Call to make a reservation if you're going on Friday or Saturday night. They are quaint and very busy and you need to call the day before if you wanna go either of those nights. 2) Expect when you make that reservation to be asked something like "is 90 minutes enough for you guys?" Legends runs their place like clockwork, super-efficiently, so this is not the kind of place to sit down and mosey through your meal. There needs to be a little efficiency on your end too. 3) Also this place is BYOB (or wine). We had a 6:45 reservation for a party of 3 and after waiting a few minutes for our table, one of the wait-staff said "So, it's just going to be about 10 minutes or so. There's been a slight mix-up but we're on it" and she apologized. Our wait ended up being about 30 minutes, but only because the people who were at the table they needed for us didn't leave! They kept chatting over wine and dessert. If you're gonna do that over dinner, maybe not come to a quaint little place that runs like clockwork and needs to turn over the tables quickly. But I digress. As our wait dragged on, all the staff at Legends was super nice and incredibly apologetic, asking if we needed anything and providing us updates far more often than i'd expect. They even gave us their Bruschetta flatbread special "on the house" because they were so sorry about our wait being as long as it got. And that's a good intro to the food, because HOLY CRAP was that bruschetta flatbread amazing. Warm, soft focaccia drizzled with a very tasty balsamic over fresh cherry tomatoes with feta and super tasty italian sausage. It was a flavor party I wish i could relive! When we finally got our table (I may have shot a look at the patrons who had been pre-occupying it when they left as they clearly had had too much wine and had lost track of time (they'd stayed 20 minutes past being asked to leave since Legends needed the table)) we immediately ordered, having had ample time to peruse the menu. We were then brought our fresh toasted focaccia bread. This is where my first nitpick comes in. We were seated at the "bar" while waiting and I noticed one of the line cooks cut the bread, before putting it in the oven to toast, without gloves on! Umm, what?! Was he assuming the heat would burn off any germs on his hands that got on the bread? It was off-putting. I got the Fettucine Alfredo (with chicken), my partner got the Spinach Ravioli and my mom got the Penne Vodka. You get a small cup of soup or salad with your main course. I got the soup (Italian Wedding) and the ladies got salads. The salads were nice and my soup, while tasting like it'd be put on "keep warm" in the kitchen, was still very tasty and fresh like it'd be made earlier today. Our pastas were good, the tomato sauce on the spinach ravioli and the Penne Vodka is excellent. My fettucine was great too, but honestly, it was missing that final touch to seal it as "yup, i'd 100% get that again", which I honestly think just comes from there not being any pepper. Maybe put some in the sauce or have it at each table just in case? All that aside though, everyone at Legends was great and we all really enjoyed our meal.

Yelp

Yelp
Omg! Where to begin??? Suchhhhh amazing food and service. This is the BEST Italian restaurant in Pittsburgh. I had the day's pasta special which was blackened chicken with penne pasta and blush sauce (Alfredo and marinara sauce). They brought out warm focaccia bread and it was amazing. Then I had soup. Then my entree came and I inhaled it all. Perfectly seasoned! I ordered the pecan cake for dessert which was delicious. Then to top it off, my waitress offered me homemade fudge on the house. Make a reservation on the weekend because they fill up quickly.

Yelp
Yum! Very good food - just like nonna would make! I can speak Italian after eating here. (Haha) I suggest getting the fettuccini Alfredo - it was REALLY good! The penne vodka was very good but not over the top special. The spaghetti and meatballs was the traditional plate, very good & fresh! The chicken parm was really good as well. The waitress even brought complementary homemade fudge for us to try

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised to find this quaint and cozy little Italian restaurant during my weekend trip to Pittsburgh. I was really fortunate to get seated without having a reservation on a Friday night but I think the fact that I was dining alone helped. I ordered the mussels bianco which came with a soup or salad to start. I opted for the salad which was pretty basic but I have no complaints since it was kind of free. The vegetables were fresh and the vinaigrette was light and tart. The bread here is really tasty with a hint of what I think is rosemary - it had a nice toasted crisp and paired great with the olive oil. I mean bread and olive oil is a classic combination that you cannot go wrong with. I ate the entire basket all by myself! I chose the red sauce VS white sauce when it came to my mussels bianco. Despite being told to pretty much avoid seafood in Pittsburgh - the mussels and the shrimp that came with the pasta weren't bad! Usually when mussels aren't fresh it has a really gritty texture but all the mussels I got were big and yummy. The linguine was cooked a little past the al dente texture that I preferred but overall it didn't hinder from the dish too much. I really enjoyed the flavor of the red sauce and thought it had a great kick. The portion was so big I had to get a to-go box. I dug into the box later on that night though because it was so good.
