"Located on the East Side near Belle Isle, Rose’s Fine Food is the neighborhood diner that you’ll wish was around the corner from where you live. It has the long, old-school counter and bottomless coffee you expect, along with surprisingly good breakfast and lunch food (they close at 3pm on weekdays and 5pm over the weekend). The menu changes each season, but you can always count on the classic Grandpa Richard’s Pancakes and seasonal frittata to cover the sweet and savory bases." - sara barron, sam faye

Google
Slow service, fake great value chicken stripes, pre paddy hammer,. Pulled in ran over a bottle. Then lady said total was 17 something. Gave her 20 and the change. She still took a extra dollar. Plus the prices on the menu are wrong. I always give tips but just to take it without asking is very unprofessional. First time and last time I will ever go here.

Still Awesome place to come for good food, Monterey Chicken Wrap, so good!! staff is great!! Philly Steak sooo good too! Chicken noodle soup! The best grill chicken club sandwich by far!! You can't go wrong the chicken is a good size grilled with Swiss bacon lettuce tomato the bun is awesome, so much to choose from soups are great, breakfast too. We mostly order out from work but no complains from orders to pick up!!

11:30 a.m. on a Tuesday and the parking lot (front & side, at least) are full but the overflow has space. All the look of a 50's style diner, right down to the music which was loud enough to hear but quiet enough to talk (i.e., perfect volume). OK, the ladies aren't wearing poodle skirts but they were a bit sexist. The server greeted me quickly but seemed a bit overwhelmed as she was the only one working the floor at the time. Understandable considering the number of diners to deal with at the time. She was pleasant despite the workload and checked in several times after my meal arrived. All the accouterments one expects at a diner right down to the creamer and jam. Menu is pretty broad, especially where sandwiches are concerned. Fish sandwiches, gyros, burgers, hot dogs (Coney, plain, etc.), melts. A fairly substantial breakfast section and salads & soups round it out well. I went with the Classic burger & fries. The burger is huge & the amount of fries is substantial. I ordered the burger medium but it came medium-well. It wasn't juicy like it should've been but was flavorful still. Next time I'll sit at the counter (missed that on the way in). There's a drive-thru in case you want to "grab and go", too. An FYI: if you pay by plastic, you will pay the credit card charge. I don't mind, but I was unaware. I'd definitely return.

It’s what you would expect from a diner. Fifties theme. I had a western omelet, hash browns and rye toast. Everything was cooked to my liking. Service was prompt and friendly. Clean. Bathroom was clean. Free parking but lot is small. If you’re in the mood for diner food, this is your place.

I’ve been eating Ruben sandwiches for as long as I can remember and I’ve had some damn good Reuben sandwiches in my time but the place across the street said they were serving soul food so I was going to get some soul food go inside. They don’t know anything about soul food, so I seen this place across the street called legends decided to give it a shot and I was not disappointed. I will be returning to this place. I give them five stars all the way around.

Here now for for Sunday late breakfast. Arrived at 2:05 pm. My question to owner is why have a staff member approach the table and not greet us but tell us she is ready to go. They close at 3 pm so I do not understand the poor attitude. Food is always consistent breakfast anyways On top of it she said they threw out my receipt, never saw a bill. She then put up all the chairs as we and other guests were still eating, preceeded to sweep the floors as well in front of us, this was at 225 pm. We stayed for less than a half hour. Live in the neighborhood will not be back. We have had great service in the past - unfortunate. Owner needs to change the outdoor sign reading 3 pm and check his people. Empowering your employees is good to an extent but...

Google
Top rate diner restaurant! It is a like 50's diner type of restaurant. They do serve breakfast all day! This place was super good. We had a gyro & a chicken club sandwich both with fries and fountain drinks. The workers are very friendly. There is a dinning room and there is also a eat at counter. We sat at the counter which has view of the open kitchen area. It was really cool! This is a great place! You would not be disappointed in trying it. Check them out....

Google
Food was good, was hoping for more of a spicy hit with the spicy chicken sandwich but it wasn’t bad, very crunchy. Had leftovers and the ice cream serving was extremely great, enough and a little extra for 2. Definitely going back for that.

Yelp
The food was definitely what we wanted to fulfill us! I had the chicken wrap and my boyfriend got one of the breakfast combos the chicken wrap was filled with chicken and didn't fall apart at all the cheese was a perfect touch and the wrap was nice and flaky!

Janice O.

Yelp
I love this place! Always friendly, fast, and affordable. We have been there several times and get take-out breakfast there too. Everything is delicious. Great ambiance too. Super clean and 50's theme is fun!

Darryl B.

Yelp
A great place to eat and not be over charged for a good meal. My server Nikoletta, waited on me as soon as I sat down. She was very personable, and made sure everything was okay.

Denise L.

Yelp
i've been here a couple times and it's reliable enough and good service and medium routy bar( not boring! it has all been redone nicely and doesn't give you a coney island feel but it's a steakhouse feel

Mitchell G.

Yelp
Very good food and I have been going here since the early 90's walking cause I was with my older cousins

Racquel R.

Yelp
Every time I order from here, I have no problems and my food be hot when I receive it, so far they are the only place that hasn't messed my order up.

Ashley A.

Yelp
The food was great. Good home cooking. Carly was our server and she was very friendly and on top of everything. Restaurant was clean and welcoming. The prices were reasonable

Jeniffer M.

Yelp
Really nothing bad to say about this place. I loved that it was very clean, the server and the hostess were super nice. Food was done quick and it was hot and good. Not a 5 star Hollywood breakfast but a 5 star in its own right for the price and the quality of the food. It was great diner food. Would definitely try again when I'm in the Detroit area.

Francine P.

Yelp
Great place for breakfast and lunch. Besides omelets, salads, sandwiches they have 5 soups daily. Very affordable. Open from 7-3 everyday, including weekends. Highly recommend the albacore tuna salad. It's huge

Karmen R.

Yelp
This restaurant has a quaint 50's interior that is very cute, and the food is tasty however they close at 2:30 pm so be ware! If you arrive at 2:00pm (which we did) the service was very rushed and we could not enjoy our meal. The waitress was very inattentive (apparently she was ready to leave) and pretty much ignored the table during our meal. While eating they even turned off the lights although it was several tables occupied in the restaurant. After we got our to go containers, the waitress told us that we had to open the automated door to exit the restaurant! I was appalled! Luckily, the hostess was nice and offered to slide the door open for us so that we could leave.

MacKenzie G.

Yelp
This place is a family favorite of mine, we have been going here for decades. The food never disappoints. It is clean, and only the most fresh of food is served. The staff is very kind and welcoming. One of the best spots in Detroit for breakfast. And Black owned so I love to support.

Yelp
If you expect great customer service here, unfortunately you won't get it. Anyone can say hi or thank you, but obviously not many know how to problem solve or offer great customer service. The woman that typically takes drive thru orders messed up my order, despite me asking her about it again once I got to the drive-thru window. Got home realized it was incorrect and called the restaurant to explain the issue. I noticed that I was talking to the same woman who had taken my order at the restaurant. After hearing my issue, she immediately starts trying to suggest that I didn't tell her certain things about my order which was a complete lie and clearly she was trying to avoid being held accountable for her error. Mind you, I'm not one of those people who over complicates orders at restaurants, this was literally a matter of adding cheese to an omelette. So finally she reluctantly says that they will make my order over. Despite her attitude and me having to leave my house and drive back up there, I'm like ok well at least I can get my food and be done with it. My semi satisfaction was ended as soon as I got to the restaurant, when the drive thru lady decides she wants to approach me, even though I was already talking to the woman at the register and she was handing me my remade order, the transaction had been completed but she had to continue the delusion that she had done nothing wrong and that it was my mistake not hers. The Donald Trump of Coney Island restaurants So obviously it went down hill from there. I dismissed her and told her that she made a mistake it's ok to admit it and that's the end of it. Of course she kept going and going and I simply repeated it's ok to admit you made a mistake and furthermore, I'm the customer, this is where good customer service comes into play. But they don't know what that is. Then the other two women rather than being rational about the obvious error, that at this point all of them are responsible for, they start defending the ignorant drive thru woman who is the actual problem, one of the women reveals that she's the owner after I told her that I wasn't talking to her, because all she seemed to be capable of doing was deflecting responsibility and escalating the situation. I was just blown away by the level of incompetence, inconsideration and inability to show appreciation for my patronage. Then when I'm ready to get the hell out of there, I realize that they didn't give me the sauce that is supposed to come with my order, so before I leave I ask for it and they try to hustle me into paying extra for a sauce that comes with the order, and that they gave me for free the day before when I ordered the same exact thing! Don't buy from these idiots!

Taylor L.

Yelp
Very classic and cute 1950's decor, clean, and very friendly staff. Got our food quick and it was good like regular coney type food. Strawberry shake was yummy and overall I enjoyed it and will be back! My coworkers come here every week and enjoy it.

Abraham P.

Yelp
I had lunch here a week ago, very good as I had remembered from prior experiences there. I had the turkey Ruben w/ fries. The portions were ample for the price. They have a very friendly and helpful staff. They have free parking but it's limited. They have an extensive menu and everything is good and reasonably priced. You can't go wrong here.

L D.

Yelp
Good food! Clean place. Breakfast is a favorite, not greasy, everything's fresh and great prices for their breakfast specials. Legends on 11123 Jefferson has the very, very Best Tuna Melt, with great, and a grand portion of tuna -- well made. Please don't forget their 'signature' Ham and Bean soup! A near favorite is their Chicken Dumpling soup! Their Chicken Salad bowl is loaded with fresh chicken strips. Great Turkey Burgers are very hearty and on a great bun! Not made like an after-thought like some places. A good staple when you want a break from ground beef burgers. YUMMY! Legends Grill can be a pricey for some items, but very well worth it as this is one of the few Detroit Coney Island grills without the 'bullet-proof' glass! You can dine-in comfortably with other frequent diners knowing you'll not be bothered by pan-handlers, etc. Many professionals, teachers and blue collar workers regularly eat here including the US Border Patrol officers.

Yelp
Every thing was decent. Average to above average prices. I ordered the chicken club lunch combo. Nothing was worthy of a bad comment. Neither was it stellar by nearly any measure. Good place for a fill up? Yes.

Kim L.

Yelp
I've only gotten carryout lunch here, so my review is based on that. The menu is diner style food, heavy on fried things. I've gotten their version of a hani twice and it was just ok. Same for the gyro I got. Both items are overstuffed into a pita that will not close making it impossible to actually eat as a wrap. The hani chicken was too crispy for me, and I ended up just picking the pieces out and dipping them in dressing to eat. The gyro was pre-formed meat patties the same ones I can buy at the market. 4 pieces again just laying on an open faced pita. Maybe I'll try a salad next time to see if they can improve on that.

Yelp
Very small interior, but a cute little diner style Coney-type place. The old music and checkered floors are certainly a hit at contributing to the atmosphere. The layout is very open: high ceiling, no booths (only tables) and all the seating is "peripheralized" so to leave a somewhat bare area toward the center. The only way I can describe it is, impersonal. It somehow feels like a cafeteria. I ordered take-out and it was prepared pretty fast. I didn't eat the food, but my mother said the Philly cheesesteak was really good. it certainly looked & smelled delectable (and I don't even eat beef)! I would like to try this place again, but definitely only for take-out. The menu isn't that extensive (i.e. contains the basics, nothing overly special), but pricing is reasonable. The parking lot is pretty cramped. The few staff members that I encountered were friendly. There is also a drive-thru. I like the location in that it is situated away from the hustle and bustle of the hectic part of Jefferson.

Yelp
I've never seen this place Physically open for business. However I've ordered from them their breakfast is delicious.

Amber C.

Yelp
I love legends! Super friendly super quick and always good food! There are huge asset to the community.

Pamela B.

Yelp
The office ordered from here again today. NOBODY was happy with their meal. Over priced. The Slim Jim wasn't edible and the person tossed it out. I received the wrong order completely and what it was had so much grease dripping from it (Grilled chicken wrap) that there was a pool of grease in the take out box. Never again. Sad cause we order lunch at least once a week.

Bob T.

Yelp
I was pleasantly surprised. The food was great and the service was better. Diamond in a dood desert.

Anita T.

Yelp
I went to Legends Grill on Thursday afternoon and ordered my usual Corned Beef Reuben on Onion Roll. When I got home to eat it there was more coleslaw than corn beef and the onion roll was soaking wet from the enormous amount of cole slaw. I called Legends to complain about my sandwich and talked to a very nasty Manager. I was very disappointed with how this issued was handled and i hope the Owners read this review because i have never had a bad situation with this restaurant. Need to have better Managers assisting your customers!!! Anita T.

Ross N.

Yelp
I loved this atmosphere. Our waitress Dee was bright helpful and a dee-light. I had the Ruben sandwich and my wife had the grilled chicken salad both from the lunch menu. We totally enjoyed the food and the service.

Kristin P.

Yelp
Greatest food and family. Always fresh and fast, the prices are great too. Love the atmosphere and it's extremely clean. Always my go to when I'm in the area

Juanita R.

Yelp
We always get breakfast from here and it's always been great. The egg white western omelette is fabulous!

Takesha D.

Yelp
Ridiculously overpriced. Worst chili cheese fries Ive ever had at a Coney. Omelettes dont even come with hashbrowns. You have to buy them seperately. Totally dissatisfied and would not recommend. If your thinking about going there, do yourself a favor and choose a different Coney. There's plenty in the area.

Anna K.

Yelp
Very good food, and it came out at a great pace :) our waitress Theresa was very kind and attentive.

Lorenc Q.

Yelp
I love this place , it's the cleanest restaraunt around . It's hard to find a good Clean diner in this area of Detroit . Add to the fact that the food is great and comes out fast makes this a good spot for me to eat lunch during my work break . The prices are fare and the staff is very friendly . I'd rather eat at a place like this that has the owners family taking good care of it than the usual franchise places that treat there business like a factory

Latisa R.

Yelp
Called in an order and 2 minutes later called to cancel it and the owner yelled that the food was ready (after 2 minutes) and that I cant order from there anymore. First of all it was a professional courtesy to call right back and cancel, and the company I work for ALWAYS order from this Coney Island so to band the whole company is ridiculous such an idiot. Terrible business. Coney Islands are a dime a dozen in Detroit, the food here is mediocre at best and way overpriced. He needs to get over himself and learn how to treat his customers!!!!!

Ernie M.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast on a Saturday. Place was busy, but no wait. The service was very friendly and efficient and the food was good. This restaurant is relatively new, so the food does not have the kind of flavor you might get at a place like the Clique...but it is good, and the restaurants environs are squeaky clean and inviting.

J. D.

Yelp
Hot, fresh food delivery swiftly and with a smile. A super clean diner with an old-school charm. Healthy choices and savory choices. I'm here almost always because I can grab a bite, relax, read the paper while I'm waiting for my clients' immigration interviews scheduled not too far away.

Jennifer E.

Yelp
I ordered a grilled chicken pita with bacon well done. My chicken was over cooked...literally. My bacon wasn't well done. Disappointed. Not going back.

Jason H.

Yelp
I been eating here for 2 years I work right across the street, every time I order something its ready to go in the time quoted, never a wait. literally everything on the menu is good I have had almost everything on the menu and its all great. The staff is real professional and personable they know all their customers on a first name basis. The place is always real clean and smells great. Legends is a real Gem in Detroit!

Karen S.

Yelp
The place is clean and waitstaff is very attentive as I placed my order , expecting to enjoy my breakfast . The biscuits and gravy where probably the worst I ever had , it was plain bland with no taste just a awful linger that even my coffee couldn't take away . Don't think I'll be back

Grace L.

Yelp
This place is my guilty pleasure whenever I am craving corned beef hash during church. The atmosphere is great, the quantities are pretty generous, and the prices are cheap. I don't know what it is about the corned beef hash here - it's just corned beef with potatoes and a side of eggs (for me, over easy) - but spooning up egg yolk with the hash and stuffing my face with their heavily buttered toast satisfies my stomach every single time. Delicious and it's only 5.99$ a plate!! My companions ordered the Greek Feta omelette (stuff with peppers, gyro meat, and feta cheese), the 2 coneys special (coney dogs with fries), and the chicken club special (comes with fries or salad and a drink). They really enjoyed their food and we were able to take our time to eat, chat, and eventually pay our bill.

Dezerai M.

Yelp
I had the stir fry at the suggestion of an acquaintance. Terrible, terrible, horrid just plain bad. The chicken was over dry if that's possible looked brown color tasted Burned all of couldn't eat past 3 bites. Wanted a full refund, not even worth an argument. Literally almost threw up.

Stephanie E.

Yelp
Very Fast,Clean, Friendly Service...Can only speak for breakfast because I'm addicted to the breakfast specials... Says a lot for me because I'm not a fan of breakfast food at all..

Rayshard F.

Yelp
I live down the street and im server my self, went here once and got awesome service way beyond what you would expect at a dinner type restaurant , went there once again and we got there at 2:55 and we were told to seat ourselves when our server for to us the first thing she said to us was "yall not gon be long is yall cuz we 'bout to close ?" no hi no greeting of any sort so we left of course. Not to be whiny but if the doors are open you never put your guess at odds with closing time just not hospitable
