Harbor Springs, Michigan Is the Best Small U.S. Town for a Lake Vacation in 2024

"A bustling summer destination in Cross Village housed in a 1920s river-stone-and-timber cottage whose maximalist interior is crowded with taxidermy, totem poles, arcade games and a disco ball; antique stove legs arranged on the roof nod to a local hearth-manufacturing past. With lush lawns and panoramic views of Lake Michigan, the menu leans hearty and Polish—think crispy breaded pork kotlet, toothsome potato pierogi and juicy kielbasa—served in substantial portions and often enjoyed with frosty Polish lagers such as Zywiec." - Leilani Marie Labong Leilani Marie Labong Leilani Marie Labong is a San Francisco-based journalist who focuses on food, design, and travel. Best Places to Eat and Drink in Northern Michigan for Viewing Fall Leaves | Eater Detroit

"Sitting in Cross Village inside an impressive log cabin built in the 1930s, Legs Inn is a Northern Michigan institution where I happily wait my turn (no reservations) for pierogi, gołąbki, or a bowl of bigos — warming, traditional Polish fare that’s worth the line." - Stacey Brugeman

What Northern Michigan Restaurants Learned From Two Weeks of Reopening | Eater Detroit

"Housed in a landmarked, nearly 100-year-old log cabin in Cross Village that traditionally opens in mid-May, the Inn’s owners opted to wait until June 17 to reopen because they truly want to prioritize the well-being of staff, families, and guests." - Stacey Brugeman

This was the best authentic Polish food that I have had in a very long time. My step family are Polish and many of these dishes, I have not had in years. The pierogies and the sauerkraut stand out so much. The beer was absolutely amazing. The scenery was great. I highly suggest taking the trip, no matter where you’re at in the state of Michigan at least one time in a year to dine in here. Once again, the service and atmosphere were top-notch. They enjoyed walking around the property and enjoying the views and taking photographs.

Google
O M G ! The food was worth the wait!!! Just remember all those people your waiting to be done knew to wait for someone else to be done. The service was amazing the food was incredible. Lots of kool stuff to look at and read while we waited. Shout out Kathryn in the gift shop what a wonderful person. We ordered "a taste of Poland" I highly recommend this as I was blown away by how delicious the cabbage rolls and perogies (if I spelled that right) were. Like sitting in grandma's kitchen again. Thankyou Legs Inn restaurant!! I will ABSOLUTELY be returning to try more and I won't mind having to wait my turn for such a wonderful meal.

Google
Interesting place. We stopped after driving the Tunnel of Trees. This restaurant was featured on a page that I follow and looked intriguing. It was a beautiful day and the backyard grounds were beautiful! Went inside hoping to catch a bite of yummy polish food, but the wait was 1.5 hours. Not happening. So my pals and I sat in the bar and had a birthday beer, which was outstanding!

Mary Jo L.

Google
SMACZNE! We had dinner and Chelsea was our outstanding server. I have Celiac and Chelsea made sure everything was prepared safely and without cross contamination. I was able to eat most things on the menu (rare). The grounds are gorgeous with many trees and flowers. Our experience was 10/10 because the food was delicious, the atmosphere is beautiful and our server took great care of us.

Google
What a fantastic unexpected experience! Very unique and beautiful 1920s log lodge with terrific food! We found ourselves here by accident just out on an M119 drive. The people were very personable and friendly, including Mr. Smolak, and honestly, the Polish and other food and Polish beer were just awesome. The cabbage rolls were incredible. We’d love to make it back! This is a don’t miss spot-if we lived closer, sure we’d be there weekly!

Google
This is a trek we take from Traverse City that we try to do every year with friends or family. Never disappointed. Great polish food. We got there early and got a great view table. Server was great as was the lady that seated us. You need to get there early if you want lunch. 11:30 they start lining up. When we were done at 1:15 the line was out the door. Worth the wait. The tunnel of trees to get there was the cherry on top.

Been going up North for years and had never been to Leg's Inn until recently. It was a fantastic experience, from the eclectic venue to the excellent, authentic Polish cuisine it was top notch. And being of the Polish persuasion myself and my dinner companions we have been to more than a few Polish restaurants, and Leg's is by far the best and most authentic we've been to. The zurek soup was so good it inspired me to give it a try when we got home but unfortunately, although good, fell far short of the artfully crafted dish they serve there. Kudos to our friendly and efficient server Amanda, we really enjoyed ourselves!

Beautiful setting on Lake Michigan. Interesting historic building with beautiful gardens. Food was great. My husband and I both had the white fish with mushrooms and onions and we loved it. Our friends had a variety of Polish dishes and enjoyed them all. Definitely worth a visit to this unique and charming restaurant.

Yelp
What a marvel this place is! Apparently the second most iconic restaurant in Michigan. George - the current owner - explained how his Uncle Stanley emigrated from Poland and built the inn back in the 1920s and used the rocks and wood around to do so. The sculpted woodwork inside is unlike anything I've ever seen! We were part of the group tour, so our tour guide was able to arrange for us to get in prior to opening hours to admire the garden area with views of Lake Michigan, the artistry of the place, and sample some Polish food. We sampled three types of pierogis (Polish dumplings), kabanosy (Polish sausage), and a slice of good old fashioned polish berry apple pie known as Szarlotka. So good! As we were leaving, we saw a line outside the door waiting to be seated. It was a lovely day, so lots of people of people opted to sit outside in the garden area with lake views. What a marvel this place is!

Yelp
I'd been to the Petoskey area twice without eating at Legs Inn, so when I was there this time, I decided I had to try it. The wait was fairly long, even for one person, but there was a gift shop to look through and the lovely garden to walk through; it felt like it was a scene from a movie. I got the Old World Sampler, which had a little bit of everything on it -- and it was a lot for one person! I made a point of only eating half so I could have some leftovers AND not be too full for my ride back to metro Detroit. The food was ok but not outstanding. It reminded me of the Polish version of Frankenmuth -- a place you should go to once while you're there, but more for the experience than for the food. The service was great, though.

Yelp
I came here all the way from California and this place did not disappoint! By far my favorite Polish food not just in Michigan but in the s United States. The view couldn't be any better the staff couldn't be any nicer and the food couldn't be any better. See my photos for more but I would love to go to this place over and over every time I go to Michigan. Can you please come and build one in California??
google avatar

Yelp
The food here is incredible! We got a mixture of pierogi and some Gołąbki (stuffed cabbage) to share. The portions were pretty good (8 pierogi and 2 large Gołąbki with sauerkraut on the side) too. As soon as I ate the Gołąbki I was transported to my childhood and eating stuffed cabbage with my family. I'm not Polish, but it brought me back instantly. The wait was a bit because it was early August in Michigan. The restaurant/bar decor is unique to say the least. It's a fun wood cabin with animals kinda vibe. There's a gift shop and a small arcade to visit while you wait. The views and the garden outside are gorgeous. It was too hot (90ish) out to eat outside for us, but I think it would be a wonderful treat on a lovely day. The service was great! I'm glad we decided to wait. It was well worth it!

Yelp
We visited on a rainy Saturday and luckily arrived 15 minutes before they opened. There was already a line of 30 people in front of us. They don't take reservations, so plan accordingly. We enjoyed walking the grounds while we waited. The back is absolutely gorgeous, and we requested to sit outside on the covered porch to take in the view. Though there was a line, the restaurant is huge with a ton of seating. We didn't have to wait and were seated quickly. Our server was friendly and offered suggestions, which we appreciated. I shared a platter with my spouse and picked it for a bunch of different tastes, which was fun. Do note that the food is expensive, but it's homemade and you're not going to find good Polish food very often. It came with gołąbki (2), kielbasa with sauerkraut (1), pierogi (3), and bigos. The gołąbki was extremely flavorful, and it reminded me of my grandma, who passed away when I was very little. It's a secret, but I liked Legs Inn's version better. We also picked the farmer's cheese pierogi, and we were happy with our choice. We left with a smile. We'd return, but this place is definitely for special occasions due to the price.

Yelp
Tip! This place gets very busy, very fast! If you don't want to wait for a table for lunch, come a few minutes before they open! Pros- beautiful both inside and out. They have a garden seating area which is so dreamy, a nice covered patio and a unique inside. Great service. Lots of food and drink options. Good pierogi and poutine Cons- the lunch portion of the Gołąbki was small and not the best I've had.

Yelp
People often ask me as a Flight Attendant who has traveled to 100+ countries 'what has been your favorite meal?'. I think I can honestly say my dinner at Legs Inn has been one of my most memorable and enjoyed dining experiences of my entire 30+year career exploring the world! It's not just about the food here. (The food is excellent by the way...even better than what I've had in Poland!)). It's an "experience". The ambiance, the gardens, the views, the warm & welcoming service, the vibe, the decor, the architecture, the history....as Parker Posey says, "It's just a whole thang y'all!" I feel blessed to have had the owner and matriarch of the family/establishment sit with my dad and I and share with us the history. The Legs Inn is the BEST of Pure Michigan!
google avatar

Laurel S.

Yelp
Love good polish food! My dad told me about this place as we were headed to the Tunnel of Trees. Very cool building and history! We shared the potato pancakes and got the perogi and goulash as entrees. I was excited when the waitress said I could get a variety of the perogies (sauerkraut, meat, potato with cheese). They also top it with bacon and onions! I was in heaven. I tried a bit of the goulash. It was great but not what I wanted on a hot summer day. After lunch we went out in the garden and enjoyed the view!

Yelp
We stayed locally for a family vacation again and stopped in here for dinner and wow what a different experience then our first. The first time we were inside and never even knew they had seating outside. I 1000% recommend sitting outside in their garden. It's absolutely beautiful and just adds to the beauty of the place. It has a look out at the very back and the sunset is beautiful. They have a long list of beers and their food is great. If you're not interested in polish food (which you should try) they have a few options for you as well. The taste of Poland is amazing and so is the kotlet! We will definitely be back! Service is very friendly and helpful. They have a bar inside that

Yelp
We arrived with a party of 6 at 5:30 on a Friday. The restaurant is very isolated, and not much to do while you wait. I asked to look at a menu, and was told there wasn't one to look at. (Why not? Full lobby of old photos and newspapers...no reason to not have a current menu under glass?). Hostess was condescending and rude. Food and waitress were very good. Price was reasonable. This restaurant is a niche location. Reservations are a reasonable expectation. If reservations are not something you can do, no reason to not have menu in lobby. And, as for the hostess-my request was reasonable and you should have made an effort to accommodate. Your response was obnoxious.

Yelp
This restaurant will make you think about it for weeks and weeks after you try it. Such amazing authentic Polish food with an eclectic ambiance. It's in an interesting small town but offers an amazing lake view. 100% worth trying if you're in the area.
google avatar

Loretta S.

Yelp
Heard about this unusual place serving wonderful polish foods. It was very good and service was great. The setting is gorgeous with a beautiful view and outdoor lake seating. It does get very crowded. The perogies were good. Liked the potatoe latke but would prefer them not paper thin. Tasty. Stuffed cabbage delicious. Its a must go to when visiting the area..
google avatar

Janice W.

Yelp
We had lunch here on a beautiful sunny day and you can't beat the outdoor patio. I thought the food was mediocre but I'm not a fan of Polish food so probably not a fair opinion.
google avatar

Jeremy B.

Yelp
My family has been going to the Legs Inn for 40 years plus and still enjoy ourselves every time. The service, food, and drinks are all excellent. The outdoor space is beautiful with an unparalleled view of Lake Michigan. A great establishment worth visiting.
google avatar

Bill M.

Yelp
Very busy so be prepared to wait. We actually just wandered around inside and out and decided we didn't want to burn 2 hours waiting. Very interesting place though and food sounded good. Next time
google avatar

Sheila D.

Yelp
A must when visiting and the food is worth the wait. We waited 2 hours. We were not disappointed and got to enjoy a beer with a beautiful view while waiting. From both dishes we ordered by far the favorites were the pirogies.
google avatar

Aparna B.

Yelp
This was my first time at Legs Inn despite it being my second time traveling tunnel of trees. It was also my first time trying pierogis! There was a wait but we enjoyed the backyard overlooking the lake while we waited for our table. My husband and I split some of their vegetarians: - potato cakes - 8 piece pierogis - half mushroom and sauerkraut, half cheese and potato - one of the vegetarian crepes - a champagne spritz cocktail

Andy G.

Yelp
While the food and the service are always spectacular, the real treasure of this place is the staff. Tracy and Corey behind the bar are just fantastic. Chris adds a lot of great fun to the evening. The locals in the back bar are not to be missed. Get the KGB and a shot of Żubrówka!

Rebecca C.

Yelp
The owner and staff are a fantastic team. They are all very personable, pleasant and fully invested in the guest experience. Enxhi "angie" was pleasant and accommodating. The food is great, the ambiance very cool.and unique, and the gardens with a Michigan waterfront sunset are gorgeous. They have cabins on site that are cozy with terfront access, and are a great spot for hitting the Tunnel of Trees.

Amy P.

Yelp
Beautiful authentic polish restaurant off M-119, the tunnel of trees. We only waited about 20 minutes. This was a Tuesday after the July 4th holiday which is always super busy. Had the pierogis, sausage and sauerkraut. Wonderful!
google avatar

Chantel M.

Yelp
Legg's Inn is an iconic restaurant at the end of the famous M-119 tunnel of trees scenic drive in Cross Village. This interesting establishment almost always has a long wait. So come 1.5-2 hours before you expect to eat. There are plenty of distractions while waiting for your table. You can peruse their Curio shop across the street, our kids enjoyed the arcade, and if the weather is nice grab a beer and enjoy the expansive back yard that overlooks Lake Michigan. The restaurant has an eclectic menu, but our favorite choices are the traditional polish dishes. I had the golumpki, pierogis and kielbasa. They also have a children's menu and the kids enjoyed their food. The hubby sprung just for the kielbasa and kaputsa (basically a Polish version of sauerkraut). They have many interesting Polish beers to sample and the food is delicious. Pro tip: if you like a little kick with your sour cream ask for the horseradish sour cream. Yum! Definitely a special place that has become our yearly pilgrimage.

Yelp
Five stars for the service and ambiance, three for the food, averages out to 4 stars for me. My family is straight from Poland. my busia was an amazing cook in all areas but especially in the traditional Polish foods we know and love. Since she passed my mom carries the mantle now, making dishes from all the beat up notebooks of family recipes. So, we have some high standards when it comes to Polish food. Alas, Legs Inn didn't QUITE live up to them. If you're not super familiar with Polish eats then it's a fine introduction to the cuisine but it's not going to blow your mind or anything. What will blow your mind, though, is the incredible view and grounds. Wow. And the interior of the restaurant itself is to be seen to be believed. A very curious match up of Native American and Polish cultures that makes zero sense until you read the historical plaques inside that explain it all (in a nutshell, the founder of the business, a Polish immigrant, hired craftsmen from the local Odawa tribe to work construction and together they collaborated on a space that was influenced by both cultures). The real gem here are the beautiful grounds in the summer including lovely outdoor seating in a flourishing garden with an incredible view of Lake Michigan. The staff are mostly young folks in from Poland summering in Michigan to specifically work at Legs Inn. My mom had a nice chat in Polish with one of our servers and she reported she comes back every year. My family agreed that while we may not be clamoring to get back for the eats, we would absolutely love to come back to have a nice cold Polish beer while taking in the beautiful scenery.

Yelp
Excellent food excellent service .. we sat outside as it was a beautiful day.. interior was dated but it is a very old building and been a family owned for over 100 years.. highly recommend

Yelp
I'm was not sure what I was going to order from the menu, and when my husband told me this was the space we were going to be trying when we were near Traverse City Michigan. I was a little hesitant. But I am so happy we went. The food was amazing. The ambience was quaint and fabulous. I had the pierogies. All I wanna say is Yum Yum yummy! But be prepared for a wait, it a destination Place . And once you've been there, you're going to wannago back again again and again.

Robbie P.

Yelp
Our food was great and the service was exceptional!! Get there early and you'll still have to wait in line, luckily it's worth the wait. It's the only restaurant that I don't mind eating outside because it's so beautiful the garden.
google avatar

Jessica M.

Yelp
Hands down, the best polish food around. And the best views to go along with your dinner in the area. Traditional polish food that rivaled my babcias- legs inn not only has delicious food, but a long history since it's beginning. Great food, great staff. Romos pro tip: get the taste of Poland so you can enjoy all the different foods. Don't sleep on the zurek soup- it's delicious! And make sure you sit on the porch/or in the garden area!
google avatar

Yelp
Wow! We really enjoyed the experience of dining at Legs Inn. Our wait for 3 on a Saturday evening was 45 minutes, but we only ended up waiting 20. The hostess was so friendly and kind and gave my daughter something to play with while we were waiting for our food. The overall feel of the place was rustic and charming. We loved all the details to look at, and found ourselves constantly finding something new. The garden out back is also stunning with great views. Onto the food...the Polish Combo was a slightly smaller version of their sampler situation. My husband loved the sausage and pierogis. I ordered a pierogi entree and it came with 12! I was shocked there were so many. We could've easily shared. My husband started with their house soup and really enjoyed it. I had the side salad and it was nothing phenomenal. I'd skip it. The buffalo cauliflower was phenomenal and we would definitely get that again. My picky eater kid loved the chicken fingers and fries. All in all good visit! We'll be back!

George N.

Yelp
Outstanding services, fresh quality of authentic Polish cuisine. The freshest fish I have ever been served. The catch of the day.
google avatar

Andrea P.

Yelp
Off the beaten path, but definitely worth checking out since it's one of only a handful of places to eat after enjoying the tunnel of trees. We arrived around 2 PM was told we had an hour and a half to two hour wait however we were fortunate enough to get a seat at the bar after about 30 minutes. We ordered a fish sandwich and old world sampler that consisted of three types of pierogies, a cabbage roll, and Hunter stew. The food was decent, nice flavor without being overly powering or bitter. I do not think it's worth a two hour wait though. The inside is very welcoming and much bigger than expected. They also have a great outdoor space but it was closed for the season when we were there. Great views of Lake Michigan! The bar tenders were extremely busy but you could tell they were seasoned and were very efficient.

Jeanne G.

Yelp
The atmosphere is so fun! A lot to take in but the history is interesting. We never had polish food before and our server was great! She took time to talk about the dishes and made recommendations. Hubby had George's goulash and it was amazing and it was a huge helping! The different meats were tender and just a great dish! I had the chicken avocado sandwich and the server recommended that the aoli be on the side as I'm not into real spicy food. Good call.. I spread a thin layer of the aoli on it and just gave enough heat for me. Fries were nice and crispy! Just how we like them! We had to go and take in the view as it overlooks the lake.. gorgeous gardens and the evening sun was just at the right spot. Beautiful!! (Not that it matters but we had a great sighing of a cargo ship)

Yelp
Mom and I finally made it to Legs Inn. It's a nice drive in the Fall. Of course we picked a day that was busy with antique car parties and lots of motorcycle riders. We had to wait about a half hour to be seated. The parking is a little mishmash when busy--street parking a couple small lots, and a grassy area on the side. We wound up parking on the side in the grass. It was a little walk to the front door and then another little walk to the dining area. Glad I brought Mom's walker. Legs Inn is a lot bigger than I expected. It has a nice size bar, several dining areas (inside, outside, and patio). We were seated on the patio. Mom had to maneuver three steps, but she's a trooper. We had a nice view of the garden dining area. As I perused through the menu my eyes honed in on the "sampler" platter Taste of Poland. We ordered the super to include pierogies. I knew we'd be taking food home, so we also ordered the appetizer potato pancakes. The platter came with a cup of soup. We shared the cauliflower soup that tasted very similar to the one my babcia made. The potato pancakes were ok. I prefer mine made with grated potatoes not mashed. The pierogies were very good. The dough was softer than most commercially made ones. Mom insists it's because you add sour cream to the dough. The mushroom filling was my favorite. The stuffed cabbage was ok. The filling seemed like it had been pushed through a grinder several times. Seemed mushy. I'll stick to homemade ones. The sauerkraut and sausage was good. I had Bigos (hunters stew) for the first time and loved it. Guess I'll have to try and make some. With our food Mom had a drink made with bison grass vodka and I had iced tea. The tea tasted like instant. Mom's drink had an unusually wild flavor. Guess that's the vodka. We took home a slice of Szarlotka (crumb cake). Talk about yummy. Moist full of berry flavor. If you find yourself in Northern Michigan, put Legs Inn on your list to visit. It has quite a history. You can sit in the bar or take your drink to the outside waiting area which overlooks Lake Michigan. They are closed in the winter.

Yelp
This was our fourth attempt to eat at Leggs Inn. Previously the waits we were quoted were 3-4 hours. Today's wait was 0! So if you don't want to wait come before schools are out on a week day, late afternoon. As it was cool and rainy, we opted for inside, but on a nice day, the patio would have been preferred. It is certainly a unique and quirky decor! We were seated in the dining room by a window--thankfully, as I found the interior dark. We toured the gardens after our meal--best part of the place. Beautiful blooms and cute bears and carvings out there, as well as a stunning water view! Our wait staff was wonderful. We had a server in training and she did a good job--and promptly brought whatever she had forgotten. The "real" waitstaff was very friendly and patient with the trainee. Now for the food. I had high expectations based on the hype. I was disappointed, as it did not live up to the reputation--and if I had waited 3-4 hours , quite honestly, I would have been very upset! I must explain that I grew up in Polish neighborhood, and although not polish myself, did experience the cooking of my friends mothers and grandmothers, most of whom were born in Poland. That might have been a disadvantage here. Also, at one point in my life, I worked in a famous polish town in Detroit with great polish restaurants, so have experienced really good polish food! This meal was almost average. I had the potato pancake appetizer--meh! The potatoes were mushy( cooked first?) so we're more like mashed potato pancakes. There were green onion sprinkled on top, but I don't think there was any onion in the pancake! They were a little greasy, and bland. The apples were great tho! I ordered the polish platter--Kielbasa was great! I did not like the sauerkraut -think it was the spices. It was dark brown and very mushy. The periogi were just OK --I prefer mine fried in butter and onions after being boiled. The bacon dressing was odd--just a tiny blob on top and little flavor added. I only had the potato and cheese--and I am sure my personal preferences set these up for failure for me. But worst of all was the stuffed cabbage roll. The sauce was familiar-like I expected. There was very little rice, the texture was mealy and stiff to me, and worst of all it was cold on one end but hot on the other. It was rather bland as well --not at all like the stuffed cabbage rolls I got in my old neighborhood! So, I am glad I can cross this off my bucket list. I thought it was expensive for just ok food ($100 for the two of us with 2 entrees, one appetizer, and one soft drink with tip), I was disappointed that it wasn't the great ethnic food of my youth. I don't need to go back, and I certainly don't understand all the hype-/except it is sort of the only thing around, and the view is spectacular if you sit outside! Maybe if you don't know really good polish food, you will be very happy. The food is ok. And it is quirky!
google avatar

Michael F.

Yelp
The grounds/decor/views are second to none. The stuffed cabbage was especially delicious. One point for improvement: I ordered a polish mead and I received what tasted like cooking sherry.

H K.

Yelp
Legs Inn is the best restaurant in northern Michigan! We dine here very often, because the food and staff are fantastic! Their whitefish is the best that I've ever had! The super taste of Poland and the sloppy George are extremely delicious and so authentic. The history and ambience of this restaurant are also worth mentioning. Everyone walks into the restaurant taking videos or photographs, because the architecture and decor is so unique. Nothing is better than watching the sunset while eating on their outdoor patio in a gorgeous garden setting, which overlooks Lake Michigan. This is a family owned restaurant, and they are all so kind. We especially enjoy chatting with each family member, who make every visit special. Bravo Smolak family!

Diane F.

Yelp
We were at Legs Inn in early June. The food was excellent and the service was great. Spectacular view of Lake Michigan. But what really struck me was the music they played. It was without a doubt the best and most diverse playlist I have ever heard in a restaurant setting. Big thanks to the person putting the music together, definitely enhanced the dining experienc!

Karen F.

Yelp
What a great place to bring visitors from Connecticut! We enjoyed drinks outside in front of beautiful lookout, then delicious Polish Food. To soothe the soul a wonderful selection of music from the 60's 70's 80's played in the background, each one we could sing with and carried a bit of nostalgia! Kudos to the music man!

Great meal! Wonderful flavors! The server was friendly, professional and efficient. The outdoor area has a peaceful view of the water and. relaxed atmosphere. Come to this area all the time and can't believe we haven't been here before. Will be back!!!

Yelp
One of the best food experiences of 2023 for me. It was a very unique spot that should be taken in for a whole evening as there is much to see. The food was outstanding and pricing reasonable.. this is a 5 Star review, if your up North make the journey but get there early!

Yelp
Unpopular opinion - this is NOT worth the wait! We decided to check out the tunnel of trees on a Sunday afternoon. The drive was beautiful, and our plan was to stop here for lunch at the end. Around noon, there was a 2.5 hour wait. People in line exclaimed it was well worth the wait, and that everything on the menu is outstanding. We were able to spend a lot of the time waiting in the back of the restaurant which had amazing views, and that was a nice perk. Finally after waiting over 2 hours we were seated and waited even longer before the waiter got to us. It was very understaffed. We all ordered the polish hearty lunch and really liked all of it. It tasted very traditional and "stick to your ribs". The potato pancakes and kielbasas to split were great and the horseradish sauce was delicious. While the food didn't disappoint, we would have rather spent our limited time doing something else. If the wait wasn't so long, we would have been happier.

Yelp
The Polish food is amazing. I am from Cleveland and the grandmas working the kitchen are all excellent cooks. Best pierogis ever. The building is amazing. We sat in the garden for dinner. We came in late June. No wait. Bar is awesome. They have kids menu and arcade games. And a yard area for kids to run around. Curios and gift shop to peruse. Not cheap crap. Really nice pottery from Poland,Really home feel. Can get windy. Dress accordingly and ask for the blanket if you need it. Recommend the pork schnitzel in lemon sauce. Closed Tuesday. Only open during tourist season 12-8pm last seating sharp at 8. Plan you time.

Yelp
Last year we watched football in the bar with a bunch of others we had such a good time. Everything we ate was really good.

Yelp
Definitely one of the more unique places I've ever eaten. But this is a truly wonderful experience the great atmosphere and delicious Polish food! (S).

Yelp
This is a must see place. We have never eaten there but we take everyone there who visits. My experience at the bar this last time was not good. Bartender dreadlocks was not friendly nor accommodating. To me they cater to the locals and the impression I got was visitors are a pain. I would describe him as arrogant. But hey I will go back maybe he was just having a bad day!

Yelp
A very unique restaurant right on the coast of Lake Michigan. Beautiful building and grounds with indoor or outside seating. The food was authentic Polish cuisine and very good. Our server was a delight and very efficient. They have students from Poland come over to the US to experience our culture and work in the restaurant. Heavy accents but fun to talk with the students and see what their impressions of America are. Worth the drive and we would return.

Yelp
Loved sitting on the patio. It was very lovely with view of the lake. The service was very good. My husband said he had the best pierogis ever. The food was very good. Our only complaint...they served smoked kielbasa. It wasn't fresh kielbasa, it was smoked kielbasa. You would think a Polish restaurant would serve real kielbasa. My husband was disappointed. It might as well been Eckrich kielbasa.

Yelp
We walked right in with no wait at 5PM on a Thursday. Great beer choices and wonderful food with amazing views from the patio. Next time our party of 2 would split the Taste of Poland with the Bigo adder as it has most everything you would want to try. However, we had plenty of leftovers for a second meal, so that was great. Kielbasa, Bigo stew and pierogis were some of our favs. Friendly and helpful staff also made a nice experience.

Yelp
What a treasure!! Love the food. Just expect to wait a bit. Thank you! Fyi. Get the szarlotcka(?) Cake. I usually get one to share with my table and another to take home.
