Six galleries and a deep research library illuminate regional stories, from Pennsylvania German life to industry. After the Liberty Bell Museum closed, related artifacts were incorporated here, strengthening downtown’s history circuit.

Great museum with plenty of exhibits and getting the tour of the Trout Hall from the 1700s was a very cool experience. Definitely recommend if you’re into American and Native American history.

Membership is definitely worth the cost. Many good programs available free to members throughout the year.

I would definitely recommend this museum as a must-see if you are a history buff and are visiting the Lehigh Valley area. I was highly impressed with the range and quality of the fascinating exhibits on display, which included a great deal of informative and interesting (unbiased) historical information not just about LeHigh Valley's diverse past, but also about particular aspects of US history in general (for example, the Abraham Lincoln exhibition). The museum is well set out and I happily spent several hours exploring the exhibits. Last, but certainly not least, the staff was extremely friendly, helpful and accommodating. This Australian tourist will be sure to visit again when next in Lehigh Valley!

My family and I went to the museum today mainly to tour Trout hall as I am intrigued by old architecture and design, however Trout hall was closed due to ventilation being down and painting going on I was hesitant to continue as I really wanted to go on the tour of the home. The director informed us he wasn't sure when the home would reopen and accommodated us with free admission to the museum. He was so generous and eager to teach my children of Dr Martin Luther king and gave them a book to read he followed us in to the first room and educated us further he was really amazing just an amazing soul that I absolutely wish more people would be like that man is filled with love and light!!

I had the pleasure of visiting the museum this week. Jill and Joe were so enthusiastic about sharing their vast knowledge with me. My experience was personable and pleasurable. Covid plans are in place for today's visitors as well. There's no doubt I will visit again many times and as new exhibits come and go! I'd recommend this place! Go, explore and learn about what built our communitues!

Yelp
The Lehigh Valley Heritage Museum is a museum decided to the Lehigh Valley's history, and is located in the heart of Allentown. Parking is along the street, or in small lots on the backside of the building, and is free. Lobby during my visit felt a little messy, with it feeling like more of a research area instead of a museum. Admission was $8 and located behind the main desk is a small gift shop, mostly selling books. The museum tour is self-guided. Exhibits are primarily located on the second floor in two large rooms and a center court area. The larger of the rooms has exhibits focused on the history of the Lehigh Valley, the World Wars, Industrialization, and Harry Trexler among other topics. The exhibits are modern in presentation and well kept. It's worth noting that this is not a child focused museum and has no hands-on exhibits. This museum is more focused on people interested in history. One vintage item I enjoyed finding was an electric map that showed the location of thing in the valley with lights. The second room houses essentially a hall of presidents with information about them. Rotating exhibits seem to be placed in the center court area. The entire tour could take somewhere between a half hour to an hour depending on your interest. This day however, Trout Hall located on the property was open for a guided tour. Trout Hall is a carefully restored summer house from the 1700's, with the tour including visits to two floors. The tour guide was friendly and knowledgeable. Adding Trout Hall into the tour makes stopping here about an hour and a half visit. If you are interested in Lehigh Valley history, this is absolutely worth a stop.
