How the Danish Kringle Became a Wisconsin Christmas Classic | Eater

"Cited as one of the original family-run establishments dating back to the 1930s and ’40s, this bakery is noted for continuing to steward the city's kringle-making legacy and preserving the multi-day laminated-dough technique (36 layers of butter, margarine, and dough) that yields the pastry's characteristic low profile and intensely butter-forward taste." - Trisha Gopal

I stopped in for the first time on Monday to pick up kringle for a client of mine. I had the sweetest lady named Cheryl helping me. It was such a nice and refreshing start to my day with the most amazing customer service. That was just a bonus to the incredible Kringle and cookies I bought!

I am falling in the serious craving of this establishment. Stop and have a cup of coffee and have a sample of pastries. Sit for an hour of your time. The crew is very helpful. This is how a great bakery gets greater. No strain just great stuff.

These kringles are absolutely amazing! I would love to order one since I no longer live in Wisconsin, but alas the website lies. You can only order online through PayPal (which will never get my personal information again!) There is an option to pay with credit card which would of been great, but clicking the credit card option just sends you to the PayPal sign up screen. This saddens me. I guess I'll have to bribe someone back home to grab me one and ship it. Please fix this oversight. Your product is one of a kind, but your website lies.

Michelle was wonderful, walked in 10 minutes to close ( sorry ) my first time in.. Michelle was so friendly, like I was the first customer of the day which I was clearly not because of much was sold, but still made me feel like a special guest!! What a great experience and the pastries, gingerbread cookies and apple strudel rocks!!!

I have now ordered from here 2X. I got cupcakes for a gender reveal and cake pops for a birthday party. Both times the treats were delicious and everyone constantly asked me where I got them from. I ordered 3 days in advance and they were able to make it for me within that short span. I’ll definitely be back :).

We were driving south on I-94 on Dec 30th and saw Lehmanns on the blue sign before the exit. My husband said “ let’s stop at the Kringle bakery & cafe”. What a great decision ! The nicest, friendliest woman was working and answered all of our questions about all of the delicious holiday baked goods they had in their cases in addition to the many different flavors of Kringle. Did I mention they also bake the most delicious stollen I have ever had in my life?! You can tell all of their baked goods are made with pride and love. We had the best conversation about different Midwest holiday baked goods Such a treat to visit this lovely little bakery. Makes me want to move to WI so I can go there more often! Definitely worth the 2 miles off of the highway. Thank you for a delightful experience!

Yelp
Darn! Came here for a Kringle but they changed their hours and are closed today! Back to School hours - Only open Mon. thru Sat. On Saturdays they are only open til 3pm I still give them a 5 though! One of the best Kringle's in Wisconsin!

Yelp
I love this place! It's a humble, unassuming, non-pretentious bakery located in an unremarkable tiny strip mall (if you could even call it that). But, this is the joy of finding hidden gems like Lehmann's. It reminds you to never judge a book by its cover! We first went here a long time ago, but since we don't live in the area, we have had to order kringles online. Both experiences still hold up to this day. The pastries are delicious and massive, depending on what you order. Their eclairs, for instance, are gigantic! But, to me, the real winner is the kringle. I love their creative and seasonal fillings! They freeze very well, so if you don't eat a ton of sweets like me at one time, then you can freeze them in portions and heat them back up as needed. Convenient! I'm not going to pretend to be Scandinavian, so I won't speak to how "authentic" they are, but I enjoy them. And so has everyone else I've introduced them to. I think that speaks enough for itself. Love this place, love the great service we always get here, and I can't wait to visit it again some day! In the meantime, I'll be happy with delivery... even if it is a bit long-distance!

Yelp
I went here to pick up some cupcakes and a small cake for a birthday of one of my employees. The cupcakes were were nice and tasted good. I don't like too much frosting so, it was the right amount. The lady who helped me was really friendly. Nice little place to pick up pastries.

Yelp
I tried my first Danish Kringle from here this last week. It was VERY GOOD! We got the apple and the filling was well spread out and fresh tasting. The pastry is similar to a fine croissant. Despite this one being be at the end date, the product was extremely fresh. NOT a low calorie product! But very good. Marcy'sDinerTantrumScale 5/5- NoScreamingKids at the place I got this from. CyHawkApproved. He loved it! See pic. We got the product locally I in Ames, Iowa. I assume the parent company sends product to local groceries for sale. In any case, we give this product a five star!

Yelp
The veterans home in Union Grove, appreciates the donuts and kringles that Lehmanns donates to them weekly. It is the highlight of their coffee klutch !!!

Yelp
Stopped in for some donuts on a snowy Saturday morning. Lots of donuts, Kringle & cookies to choose from. Grabbed some cookies to take home (all delicious).

Yelp
Very friendly service but awful pastries. We had to throw them away; they were tasteless, old, mostly sugar and shortening toppings.

Yelp
I drove up to this location and initially thought it was closed. From the outside, it looked rather empty inside, but it had an OPEN sign, so ventured in. I guess I had high expectations of a quaintly decorated bakery with a gorgeous presentation of baked goods and cute trinkets around the store. It's a storefront with baked goods - no special presentation, no frills. There is a refrigerator with sodas and such there, which doesn't add to the bakery "feel." Crates and cases of soda and drinks were stacked up on the floor. There were 3 small tables in the bakery, but one was used for storage. So, 2 usable tables and 5 chairs that were available. Basically, the atmosphere is dull. I had to try the traditional Kringle. Sorry to say, I wasn't impressed. Sorry, I'm sure some people really love it. But, it was mediocre. As for the positives. I had a cheese danish. It was absolutely fabulous. So, the baked goods are certainly well worth the visit.

Yelp
Great selection of bakery. Bakery items are always fresh and delicious. We go here for all of our cake needs and desserts for special occasions. It's also nice to just stop in for a donut and a coffee! Wonderful staff as well.

Yelp
Lehmann's has the flakiest, tastiest kringles out there. The other companies make a pastry that is too doughy. When you cut other kringles in half, you see a clear blob of a middle layer wrapped in a sheet of dough. When you cut Lehmann's in half, you see a nice middle layer encased in a flaky outer that almost blurs the lines between center and outside. I love the almond paste that they seem to put with every flavor (I think). Their pastry rips apart and flakes but doesn't crumble. I recently just bought the flakiest kringle ever from Lehmann's...it had so many layers like the fanciest French croissant, but so tender and soft. The best kringle...

Yelp
Avoid if possible. Ordered on 12/13 in order to have it for Christmas. After one week (website says they ship Mon -Friday) I had no confirmation of shipment, so I called 12/23 AM. Got a person who sound like she could care less. Told me it would be shipped that day. Never got a shipment confirm, and did not receive for Christmas. Arrived today, 12/26. With cost and shipping, money was totally wasted. These people net to learn the meaning of customer service. They simply don't care about you. Kringle is nothing great either!
