Leila's Mediterranean

This market is fantastic - I’ll definitely be returning! They have a great selection of imported Middle Eastern, Turkish, Greek, and Persian groceries and some dish wear. We got a variety of groceries, including labne balls with mint in olive oil, which are just delicious. They also have a good selection of Ahmad teas and olive oils. One thing of note - they do not stock fresh veggies, fresh eggs, or milk (though they do stock canned and evaporated milk), but the selection of imported dry goods is impressive.

I stopped by for my second visit this week and was very pleasantly surprised to see how much their inventory had expanded. What a beautiful market with so many different food options from teas, spices, and of course so many Mediterranean food options both shelf and freezer. Very welcoming and helpful too!

This place was darn good. You can do some grocery shopping for some middle eastern specialities that you can’t find in the grocery store at a reasonable price. Their food is delicious! Freshly made and perfectly seasoned! Hummus is creamy and their espresso was perfect! Highly recommend! Will come back!

Fabulous market. Huge selection of Lebanese and other Mediterranean food supplies. They have their own goods too like their own sourced brown wheat bulgar, which is delicious. I found them in search of wheat bulgar which they have a great variety of. I'll definitely be back when in that area.

Lovely little grocery store with tons of goodies: Olive bar, food counter, Bakery section and houseware. The owners are very kind and helpful. Was driving to différent store looking for Phyllo dough and was so happy to have found this place.

Decided to try something different today and stumbled across this awesome little spot. I've been to a few Mediterranean stores in the area, but none of them are as exceptional as Leila's. The service was excellent and the takeout was even better. The man at the register was very helpful, there was a very short wait for my food, the store is very clean and organized. Highly recommend the chicken tawook sandwich and grape leaves. Most likely has become my new Saturday lunch spot.

Excellent selection of Mediterranean products to include fresh, frozen and shelf stable. Everything you need to make that special meal. Don't miss the Moroccan olives.

Best Mediterranean grocery store! Leila’s Mediterranean Grocery has everything you need from spices, fresh produce, and cheeses to hard-to-find pantry staples. My absolute favorite thing to get here is their homemade Dubai chocolate rich, smooth, and full of flavor! I also love their fresh pita, stuffed grape leaves, and imported sweets. The store is always clean, well-organized, and the staff is super friendly and helpful. You can tell they really care about the quality of what they sell. Whether you’re shopping for a full meal or just grabbing snacks, this place never disappoints. I recommend it to everyone I know. 10/10 definitely check it out!

Super welcoming little grocery shop that has a restaurant and tables to eat in! The food is delicious, they have a lot of options in their menu and desserts. The staff was very nice and patient to explain what the dishes consisted of. The produce section is also very varied, organized and clean. I love, love, this place! Worth coming for both, groceries and food.

We stopped by Leila's to try some things on the menu. Its a store and restaurant with different Middle eastern foods, breads, drinks, and etc. When we walked in we were greeted and offered menus. We got the chicken gyro, chicken tawook, and beef gyros. I also ordered a side of rice and tatziki with pita chips. The prices are very reasonable.. I went and waited in the car. The food was ready in about 8 minutes and the gentlemen brought it out to my car, which was very nice. I liked the chicken gyro. It was different textures because of the toppings with a good taste and crunch. The chicken tawook was also good. I liked the beef as well, it was tender and the sauce on it was good. The hummas and tzatziki sauce tasted good also. It made the gyros better. I like that the gyros are rolled kinda long and thin so its easy to eat without everything spilling out. You could easily eat it and drive. The rice was cooked just right. It had no flavor at all, but it was somehow still good... I'd return to try other things. If your looking to try some different foods, this is a good place to try... I got some drinks and a few were good, but one was to sweet. I had fun picking out random things to try though. 4 stars!!

I found Leila's on yelp. I was excited to try it because I love authentic Greek food. The store itself is very well stoked. Friendly staff as well. They have a few tables so it's more of an order and sit down type of environment but it was so well priced for the amount of food I got! I will definitely be returning.

As legit as it gets! I'm half Lebanese and this place reminded me of my mom's cooking! Everything I ordered was perfect. I'm gluten free and still lots of options. Falafels, hummus and labne were amazing! Nice staff too! Will definitely be back.

This place is so bomb a great little stop for lunch or a snack they have tons of Armenian and other Mediterranean snacks, sweets, breads and ingredients. I ordered a wrap ahead and only had a short wait when I arrived, everyone was really kind and helpful. If you love Mediterranean food this is a great little location to check out!

Simply amazing!! This was my first time in this lovely ambience, and I elected to go with the falafel sandwich. This sandwich did not disappoint on any spectrum, the flavor, the way the falafel was put together wasn't anything short of a masterpiece. I also went with the gyro platter that I haven't tasted yet, but if it's anything close to the falafel I'm in for a treat. The service was impeccable, took his time to explain every detail that inquired about. Wonderful spot you have to try this place.

This place offers wonderful service and the best products. I found all my Lebanese foods here, including spices. I highly recommend it.

Incredible, affordable, fresh food! We got the lamb shawarma, grape leaves, and baba ghanouj. Everything was delicious. We just left and I already want to go back! Definitely a hidden gem in VB! They also have a little Mediterranean store that has a little bit of everything with great prices.

I have never had anything from here that was not the best. From grocery to ordered food! Shawarma, tawook, spices, garlic sauce (toum), juice, olives, pita, specialties (frozen). Service is so far above others in this day and age. Attentive, knowledgable, fast, friendly, ON POINT! EXCUSE mispelling yelp being the beech it is wont let me go back w/o erasing it all. I usually buy some of my groceries from this store and the young cashier is a very cool guy, today I bought some sweets and there was a mosquitos in it so I took the sweet back to store to let them know about it because they still had some in the store and get my refund the owner came without saying anything like sorry or excuse me he said I don't care I just picked up these sweets from another store, I said dude you are selling these so you are responsible then he start yelling like kids. I don't wanna ruin anyone's business, I can sue the shit out of him but the owner needs to learn how to be respectful and treat customers nicely, If he just said he is sorry I would not even want my money back. After this review he said that it's a burn and it's not a bug so I zoomed it(lier) and he said don't come back to our store like I am the business owner who make his money from us(customers)

This restaurant has been a life saver. Multiple times on the way home I forget to cook dinner for my family of 4. This restaurant has been able to keep my family fed for months. Thank you.

I am finally writing a much-needed updated review; I have been back to Leila's and have since tried their Chicken Tawook platter and Beef Shwarma sandwich. Both dishes were cooked very well and had great flavor and they both come with a choice of little side of hummus or Baba Ghannouj Dip and pita bread and they also tasted great. I have also tried their homemade baklava and it is amazing, if you come here, you should try it. I also like their Grocery items, I can find items here that I can't find anywhere else.

We LOVE Mediterranean food and have visited many places that serve it. Sadly, our favorite closed down and we had to find another. Leila's is close by, so we gave it a shot. We ordered with delivery. The food came quickly and warm. First let me say the hummus is absolutely terrible. Our fav place was 100x better- as is my own. I'd like to think it was an off day, but I won't take the risk and order it again. It tasted like it had gone bad. Our pita bread for the humus was terrible, too. As soon as it cooled down it was, quite literally, like a cracker. HOWEVER, the beef shawarma (they were out of lamb) was absolutely divine- moist, wonderfully seasoned and generous. The gyro was very good, too, although there were a bit too many white onions. Still, it was quite good and a step up from a lot of places. My husband is a falafel connoisseur. He loved his sandwich. I tried it and thought it was better than at our old favorite place. The sandwiches came in their own individual bags with a side of olives and humus. They were out of lamb dishes and, sadly, the baklava. This is a small place with limited hours, so I got the impression that they make enough for the day and when it's gone, it's gone. Maybe, I'm wrong. I will definitely go again and try more on the menu, but I'll stay clear of the hummus, which is typically one of my favs. :( UPDATE: We have gone back several times. I am happy to report that the hummus was much better. I tried the Baba Ghanouj and I have to say, it is probably the best I've had. Very good with little bits of garlic in it.

Omgggg the baklava today was I can only get 1 otherwise I can't stop eating it. For food I got the lamb shawarma platter this time so I could eat less bread and it was sooo delicious. Also check out their store! Their halloumi cheese is so good and I can't wait to grill that later with some chicken and the Zataar I got the last time I was there Leila's is perfection

Family run grocery store/take out place tucked away in a strip mall on VB Blvd. if you blink, you will drive past it. If you're looking for middle eastern spices, pita bread or fresh baklava this is the place! If you time your shopping right, get lunch too! There is one table tucked away inside to eat and a few on the sidewalk outside as well. We had a large party and everyone tried something different. Wraps and platters come with side of pita and hummus. Chicken tawook, shawarma and gyro meat was all seasoned perfectly and tender without being overcooked. The hummus was smooth and creamy. Pita bread was tough and not warm. Homemade baklava could have used a little more honey or rosewater, it was a little dried out. They plan to expand next door which will greatly increase seating and allow more people to experience the wonderful tastes from this kitchen!

Cute, clean, well stocked little store tucked away in a non descript little strip mall. If you can't find an ingredient you're looking for, try looking here. They make a passable Shawarma, and many other Med and Middle Eastern type food. Fair pricing, great selection and friendly staff.

Holy Amazing grocery batman! I found this place by accident and like a dummy, I didn't know it was here! I've lived in the area for almost 6 years and why am I only just now finding out about it ??? As you walk into the market, there is the the counter in front of you where you can order from their menu. You can eat in or take out. There are a few booths on the opposite side where you can eat. I was given a tip that ordering ahead is the way to go on their busy weekend nights. Fortunately, I was there on an off night and I had the luxury of ordering out and getting the chance to walk around the store. Now let me tell you, I was there for 15 minutes and I swear I picked up every item and brought half of them to the front... I went in for some lamb and walked out with my shawarma AND cornichons, cheese, tea, peppers, pita, more cheese, olives from the olive bar, mixed peppers, and much more... I am so in love!!!

I stopped by to do some grocery today. Purchased some sweets and after I got home I found a bug on them. I got upset because I'm having a newborn and breastfeeding him so I really do care about my diet. Returned to store and talked to the owner. He was very aggressive and rude. He didn't take any responsibility and said it's not his problem. He didn't refund my money and didn't even exchange them.

This people don't know what is customer service I don't recommend that place I went to eat a salad and it was not good. I will turn the solid back and order a sandwich in the charge me for the salad even eat the salad and he offered to take it back but he charge me for it. Terrible for business and the food is not that good so don't waste your time go to azo much better food and I will make sure I will put it on Facebook, so everybody know what kind of business you doing advice to the owner, you mean to walk on the phone I have no people skills. You will lose a lot of business because him and I will make sure to tell all my friends not to go see you.

Checked out this spot on Saturday, wasn't too busy at all. I feel the real gold is regarding all the great products they have in the store for sale. As my friend shopped, I checked out the menu for food...duh! We ordered and looked around, I decided on the Chicken Tawook and the Grape Leaves. My friend took the Lamb Shwarma. When the grape leaves came out, they looked as if they might not have been good, but boy was it a game changer when I demolished two of them within seconds. I didn't care for the yogurt that came with the Grape Leaves, so I asked for a side of tzatzki sauce. The chicken and Lamb out after and boy was it good. You can tell this stuff is authentic and you can't get better than that. For some sweet bites my friend got a "mini" rose, I had to take advantage of my cheat day and eat a pistachio baklava (honestly I had to close my eyes and savor that flavor) and a bird's nest. Can't wait to come back to purchase some spices and eat some food

such a beautiful couple! & the food was AMAZING!!! being that I've been to Lebanon & my fiancé is from there... it reminded me of home (Lebanon). The wife cooks all the food & to say that she's incredible is an understatement!!!! They were very kind & made us feel at home!!! I highly recommend that you visit this place & definitely try their food, it's beyond DELICIOUS!!! I'm truly thankful that we found this place & was able to experience it for ourselves!!! They even celebrated my fiance's birthday with me!!! Unfortunately, I was caught up in the excitement that I forgot to take pictures.

I brought back a 50.00 gallon of olive oil with a faulty top and they would not exchange it. The person behind the counter pretended to "call the owner" 3 times in one minute and then said....we can't do it. NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE...........in one word ......they are CLUELESS.

This is a cool little market. They have a small kitchen that covers the Lebanese essentials. I picked up a gyro and some fresh dates and everything is delicious!

I'm SO sad about my experience! Because of a personal recommendation and the great reviews online - I just tried to order delivery from here. The main thing I wanted to try was the falafel. I ordered the falafel, spinach pie, and 2 wraps.. sadly I got a call about 10 minutes later saying they were out of half my order! I chose to cancel it because I wasn't going to pay that much including delivery and tip for just 2 wraps. Hopefully the opportunity will come for me to attempt to try this place again; but, they just opened an hour ago, so its not like they sold out that quickly - so these items shouldn't even be available to order if they don't have them. Disappointed for sure.

You want all of your yummy Mediterranean foods plus groceries? This is the place! The food is excellent and its great for the hard to find Mediterranean spices. A must for Greek foodies.

I'm actually heading there today and figured I'd go ahead and write about my past experiences at Leila's. I love it. As the name says it's a grocery and deli/kitchen. If you love exotic spices and you can't find them anywhere else, you can probably get it here. They buy in bulk and will pinch some for you if you only need to buy a little bit. I regularly will buy olives from there to snack on; I love Lebanese olives. A good variety of grains, cous cous, and dairy too. The kitchen has a good selection to choose from but the service is very slow. As mentioned somewhere else in the reviews, it's usually just one person in the back cooking and it is all to-order. The shawarma, kefta, baba ganoush, hummus, etc...is all delicious. The pricing is comparable--and actually pretty good for a small shop--to buying lunch or a sub somewhere else. If you love food from this region, it is a _must try_, seriously.

It was a remarkable experience at the Leila's Mediterranean Grocery & Deli. Definitely great value for the price. Gyro that I have ordered was absolutely terrific, it had so much flavor and was absolutely delicious. All of the staff are very welcoming - you really feel welcome and taken care of. Great place! Love the Falafel Wrap and the Greek Salad is out of this world delicious!! The crew there is super friendly which keeps you coming back for more, they treat you like family!

Not sure how I neglected to review this place for so long, but I am correcting that oversight now. Leila's is, in my mind, the perfect place. The taste, presentation and quality of the food is tremendous, the portions are large and the prices are very reasonable. For less than you'd pay for lunch most anywhere else, you can leave here feeling both content/full and healthy. Better yet, you can shop while you wait for your order (spice prices are great), and there are five or six booths to eat at, if you prefer that over take-out. The soups. The two standard soups, chicken and lentil, are each among the very best I have ever eaten (and I have eaten some great soups). The lentil is likely the finest of its kind I have ever tried. Where some lentil soups are watery, theirs is hearty, full of flavor, and with just enough heat to notice. If you are looking for a light lunch, the soup itself would serve nicely. The chicken soup is packed with shredded chicken (a mix, but mostly white meat) and has a satisfying heat level that I didn't notice until half the bowl was gone (read: about 20 seconds, and it's a large bowl). I would happily forgo any other chicken soup for the rest of my life, if I could replace it with this. I wish that I had the recipe for both. And I can't stress enough, I feel healthy after eating them! How often can you say that about something you love, given today's typical food options? The beef shawarma is also a solid bet. It's rolled a bit thin (which I actually don't mind; especially as it comes with soup, bread and hummus and olives, at a great price), but is packed with flavor: the meat is lean, rather than fatty, and the pita around it is very lightly toasted, giving the wrap a satisfying texture. There is a very pleasant nutty background flavor, which I find most tahini fails to achieve. The hummus is, unsurprisingly, some of the best, if not the best, I have ever had. Light, nuanced and with a finishing hint of lemon. I am usually quite full by the time I turn to the hummus and bread, yet it's good enough that I can't help but eat it on the spot. Should you somehow still have room for dessert, there are several house-made options to choose from, and a few with naturally low(er) sugar. If, like me, you are at the point in life where 90% of what you once enjoyed is just too sweet to choke down, then Leila's has you covered. I no longer live near this place, which saddens me, as I seriously doubt I'll ever find a replacement. Such is life. Enjoy it for me!

This Deli has been on my list of places to visit for a few years! Today came in for lunch w my Neice. Ordered a delicious Pita (meat moist and fresh) all seasoning and ingredients were just so tasty! Pleasant & helpful customer service, extremely clean, several seating areas for dine in! Was given a fresh Baklava sample..still warm from the oven! Wow! So yummy! I will be back!

Excellent Mediterranean market, well stocked with a variety of middle eastern, Mediterranean and North African ingredients. Great bulk spice selection! Small lunch space with fresh home made menu, my wife and I had a great lunch, shawarma wraps were excellent . Most of all staff is really friendly and helpful to explain items and use, make recommendations. They stock real hallumi cheese !! Make sure to grab some, Lebanese string cheese is awesome too !! Much better pricing then high end boutique groceries.

What a great find. Was is the mood for some stuffed grape leaves, you're glad I stopped in at this place found some fresh made. Dumb they were tasty and full of good flavor. I also ordered up a lamb gyro, wow that was so good made to perfection. They also had a good selection of Greek and some Spanish olives, course I had to buy some they are good this could be my new favorite place to go when I'm in Virginia Beach.

I'd prefer more rice and veggies to complement in my Lamb Shwarma Platter. Flavors were great and I ended up with leftover meat. That being said given the price and given the amount of meat they give you, it could be worth it. Just wish it was more balanced. Btw, i had no issues with the baklava!Pistachio is more expensive but to me it was worth it at $1.50

I shop here for a number of ethnic food items, teas and delicacies. Their food is always fresh and the variety of items for a smallish store are excellent, especially the assortment of spices. Additionally, the staff is always pleasant and helpful! Great shop!

My experience at Leila's has been very good. It's a mom-and-pop place, which is my preferred type of restaurant. The store section has well-stocked shelves with plenty of variety. They pack a lot into a small space! The food has been quite good, especially the lamb. We are lamb snobs in my family. Leila's lamb has been tender and flavorful each time. We enjoy Mediterranean food and have enjoyed Leila's Med dishes. I gave them four stars because the price point is kind of high comparatively. An appetizer, meal, dessert and drink can easily run $25-$30. But the food is good and the portions are decent. It can be quite loud during peak meal hours, and seating is VERY limited - just a few tattered booths and tables toward the back. (The highly-used booths and tables are another reason for four stars.) Off peak hours are fairly quiet. It's a good place for something different with a very international feel. Reminds me of the little family businesses I've enjoyed in other countries. Definitely recommend.

Leila's is a hidden gem on Virginia Beach Blvd. It's primarily a supermarket for all things Middle East. You can find obscure spices like Z'aatar and 7 Spice. They have rice, lentils, grape leaves, and burgar wheat. They have all kinds of good stuff, but I was there for the food. I had the Chicken Shawarma, a Middle Eastern sandwich in flat bread loaded with succulent pieces of white meat chicken and a medley of veggies. Instead of mayo, you're find a nice hummus. It comes with a side of hummus, pita bread triangles, and black and green olives. A great sandwich. If you are not a chicken person, order the beef. The menu has a number of other stables including Spinach pie and Falafel. I'm looking forward to trying some new next time.

Our family stopped in to check this place out. We have travelled all over the world and I have to say this place more than met our expectations. The food is very authentic and absolutely amazing. We tried their sampler plate to get a taste of everything along with ordering a couple shawarmas. The lamb was tender as well as the chicken. Our son tried their chicken soup and said it was great. The lentil soup was perfect. Our daughter thought the Manakish was outstanding along with the Tabbouleh. The grape leaves were cooked to perfection! I loved how they had a grocery as I had been looking for some Turkish Apple Tea. I tried it out and it was exactly what I've tried overseas. This place is definitely a hidden gem in Virginia Beach and we will be going back on a regular basis. We just can't get enough!!

Absolutely phenomenal! Service was impeccable, the food was delicious, and the price point is perfect. Grab the baba, best in town!

Came in just for the Mediterranean grocery, was actually planning on eating a few doors down but it was closed so we decided to give this place a try. While it will not replace my regular Mediterranean cuisine establishment the food was very good. We had the grape leaves and tabouli for an appetizer. Grape leaves were excellent. The other is an acquired taste that still escapes me. The falafel and the lamb shawarma that we had for the meal were very good. Fresh veggies wrapped in thin pita with olives and hummus on the side. Would have liked a colder drink than a bottle out of the cooler but not a deal breaker. We will be back, especially for the shopping and the spices.

Best chicken schwarma I have had stateside. It is on par with some of the better ones I have had overseas. The owner is also very friendly and engaged. The groceries are very unique and the selection is quite good if you are looking for Mediterranean style groceries.
