What a gem! Stunning accommodating, the staff are beyond fantastic, the food is prepared and served meticulously and is so tasty! The guided walks were informative and so interesting that i wish they had been longer! We were also fortunate enough to be there during whale season, so saw many moms and babies having fun in the water.

Fabulous relaxing experience. Would definitely recommend. The rock pooling walk was incredibly educational explaining the eco system of the beach and marine life

What an unbelievable experience. From the very first landrover drive to this remote lodge to our sad farewell you are made to feel part of this unique terrain. A fabulous beach walk exploring rock pools and seeing a myriad of interesting marine creatures to a very interesting trailthrough the fynbos gorge hearing about how our ancestors survived, guests are entertained and educated. Delicious food and comfortable rooms with spectacular views make the stay even more inviting. The staff really look after you and kudos to Tim ( our guide) who had us hanging on every word. Memories that will last a long time.

Just phenomenal. The location is exceptionally private and you are likely to see no one except other guests and the friendly staff throughout your stay. Whale watching is incredible, look at the ocean below during season and you see four or five different sets of whales at any one time. Billy was a very informative and friendly guide. The rest of the staff were also exceptionally friendly and accommodating. Memories to last a lifetime. Five-star lunch on the beach, great activities, lovely rooms with spectacular views, evening ginbar, braais under the stars and absolutely every need catered for. Can't wait to go back one day.

Stop taking pictures start making memories One of the most memorable vacation spots we’ve ever been to. Where to begin? There is so much good to tell about lekkerwater beach lodge. First of all the location. Remote but definitely worth it. No distractions, no planes, no boats, no noise except the fantastic ocean crushing away. The team of lekkerwater made us feel at home the minute we arrived and saw to it that no wish was left unfullfilled. Because the lodge is so small and private, you get to know the people who live and work at the lodge quite well, which increased the feeling of being amongst friends. The wildlife and the tours to the rock pools and into the gorges where just amazing. We took every opportunity to visit the fascinating nature all around us led by the super knowledgeable guides of lekkerwater. As the title of this review implies we refrained from taking our smartphones and gadgets with us on those tours. We chose to take it all in and enjoy it with our own eyes. We might have less photos but we definitely have more significant impressions of what was going on around us. We strongly advise you to do the same and don’t miss out on any chance of experiencing it. There is so much to see. How our guide Matt put it: “You can’t take a step without stepping on something alive” The private beach cabins were lovely and cosy. The bed was warm and comfy. Everything clean and decorated with an eye for details. Absolutely nothing to complain about. Prepare to sleep like a rock. The soothing sounds of the ocean will put you to sleep in no time. The water takes a minute before it gets warm but we didn’t mind. We weren’t missing a bathtub either. The water comes from a freshwater well that was drilled for the lodge and gets pumped by solar power to a tank that supplies the entire lodge. The whole operation focuses on sustainability and reducing waste in any form. This does not in any way reduce the capabilities of the kitchen in any way. We were simply spoiled by the food and the very attentive team. Definitely bring appetite. It is simply astonishing how it’s possible to create such good dishes in a small place like the lekkerwater. We were surprised. You’ll be as well. Before this review gets even longer we want to thank the entire lekkerwater team from the bottom of our hearts for an absolutely unforgettable time. We are already homesick for the place. We will come back. Promise.

Lekkerwater Lodge popped up on my Facebook and we decided to give it a go as we had been wanting to go to the De Hoop Reserve for a long time. Nicely surprised by the nice rooms, comfortable lounge, and great kitchen! We spent 3 nights there, and the food was excellent. The guide, Billy, does a fantastic G&T sundowner down at the beach on the first evening. The whole feel of Lekkerwater is about being at home, and with only 6 units, it is never too busy and you can socialise with the other guests (or not). We also enjoyed the fynbos walk, and the beach walk, which were very informative and while we didn't swim in the sea, we had an extremely relaxing time. This is perfect for a romantic weekend break or for a long weekend, only 3 hours' drive from Cape Town. Be aware though, that the drive includes about 60km of gravel road, most of which is in very good condition. But the last 15km from the De Hoop gate to the lodge's parking lot is not really suitable for low-slung sedans, SUVs would be preferable.

A truly special place. Whales, dolphins, rock pools, fynbos, caves, wining and dining. Amazing hosts and staff. Highly recommended. In fact, it is a must experience!
