I love the atmosphere of Lemon Street. It's truly a nurturing place, with staff that's never to busy to chat with you or encourage you in your art. There's a wide mix of artists in many genres, so there's always something new to admire in the gallery. It's always a pleasure meeting the featured artists at the Second Saturday shows.
The galleries consist of three rooms in an historic building off Sheridan road. The back room is usually reserved for the featured artists' shows, and the center room also doubles as space for a variety of classes taught by experts. You'll find paintings, drawings, photography, sculpture, stained glass, jewelry, handmade bath products, fiber art, and pottery displayed throughout. The prices are reasonable.
One of these days, I'm going to take a class in the big pottery studios downstairs!
What I love best about the Lemon Street artists is that they're very involved in the community, with classes for underprivileged children and victims of domestic abuse, participation in the Kenosha community events, and special art activities. The world needs more places like Lemon Street!
