"This cozy Briar Forest restaurant decorated like, well, a lemon tree, serves Peruvian food faster than you can eye up the daily sweets in the dessert display. Pop in here specifically for the incredible tallarin saltado. The noodles come bathed in citrus with tender beef and enough roasted tomatoes so that you get some in every forkful. It doesn’t really matter if you order to-go or eat inside—sitting down with your food will take about the same amount of time as takeout, anyway. photo credit: Quit Nguyen photo credit: Quit Nguyen photo credit: Quit Nguyen" - Gianni Greene

I love that this is not a chain restaurant. Homey atmosphere family owned business. Has a little coffee bar where you can help yourself. The prices are reasonable and the food is not bad.

We went to The Lemon Tree for breakfast today. It was our first visit and what a hidden gem. It's a totally locals place so keep that in mind. No fancy fufu vacation spot. The food was amazing and the staff was extremely friendly. Not to mention the pancakes were the size of your head. If you are looking for great food and great service, give them a try.

I've been told by friends and close ones that the Lemon Tree restaurant is a staple of Lewes, Delaware. To that they were not wrong. The food came out quickly and filled me right up preparing my properly for the long day ahead of me. The service was outstanding as they took care of our party of 8. If you are in this pretty little town I highly recommend dining here for breakfast, brunch, or lunch! p.s. they also have a library in the restaurant too!!!

Great breakfast joint! First off the story - I was in a Wawa at Rehoboth beach, when I asked one of their employees what is a good local breakfast joint. He first mentioned a franchise place and I explained further that I was looking for the place the locals go to, he directed me to the Lemon Tree, after he said that another employee stated that she loved that place and a customer said it is a must stop for their family during vacation season. While it was a long wait, it was expected because a sign asked us to be patience as they are short staffed. Our waitress was awesome and we share some good stories together. Of course the lemonade was off the charts incredible. but so was the breakfast, the home-fries were unusual, more like short fat French fries, they were delicious. My daughter order the pancakes and it was a hit, homemade and super thick. I would highly recommend this place.

My friends and I went here after taking the ferry. I'm pretty sure they were understaffed. I only saw one person working. With that being said, they were not friendly. At all. We arrived at 12:00 and were told that breakfast was not being served in an unfriendly manner. The food was subpar. The restaurant wasn't appealing in appearance. Maybe this is a great place for breakfast. Maybe if they were properly staffed the staff would have been nicer. Maybe if there was more staff it would be cleaner. Not today though.

Some of the issues related to this place, still exist today. First off the food was very good, with the exception of the home fries. Cold, and very dry! The waitress was very friendly, and her service was excellent! Everything else was very good. I had eggs and ham, my wife had eggs with scrapple and toast. Again the home fries were nothing to write home about. The one thing I do want to mention is the drop ceiling tiles, which there were comments about, over six years ago, still remain. It looks like many of the tiles in the ceiling are ready to fall. It appears that this issue has never been addressed. There were two or three tiles, which looked newer, but many of the tiles, appeared as if they were going to fall at any moment. this could possibly be the result of water damage. Don’t let the ceiling tiles discourage you from eating at this place. Overall, the food was good. Great little spot and great prices. Very convenient to where we spent a couple of nights.

Google
I hate rating a place's atmosphere. It's a disservice to the little mom and pop owned eateries. Not every place is going to be peak luxury in it's atmosphere. Sometimes it's down-home simplicity. If you are looking for good homestyle cooking in an unassuming strip mall, The Lemon Tree in Lewes, DE is an absolute delight. Quick and friendly service. Good food at an extremely affordable price, this is the place. I ordered the three pancake breakfast, and the waitress said "look, these pancakes are huge. They are really big. Like the size of dinner plates, are you sure you want all three?" After pondering her advice/warning, I opted to get two pancakes at a reduced price. I should have listened. One pancake would have been more than enough. She wasn't joking about the size. As good as the pancakes are, I barely finished one. So, if you go to The Lemon Tree, and your waitress suggests maybe not getting the three pancake breakfast, listen to her. 😂

Google
This is a classic, family owned, breakfast dinner. They serve the classics done right! Their food can take a bit to come out. However, good food is worth the wait! Also, the value is insane. Our kids love their pancakes and scrapple! Eggs are always fresh and cooked to perfection. Breakfast at the Lemon Tree will always be a family beach vacation tradition!

Yelp
Great place for a quick bite to eat for breakfast or lunch. We had the chicken salad sandwiches and a hoagie and they were excellent. Service was also very good. Interior was a little outdated but the prices were reasonable in my opinion. Would recommend and would return :)

Yelp
Got pancakes and French toast takeout for breakfast. Holy pancakes, Batman...big and delicious. Good flavor on the French toast., cinnamon and vanilla. Highly recommended.

Yelp
Terrible. My group of 3 came here for breakfast at 11am in mid September. The small restaurant is very basic with about a dozen tables inside. The place was pretty empty (it was the off season) and there were only about three tables of diners. The waitress wasn't very warm or friendly... but that didn't bother us too much. What was completely unacceptable was the over 45 minutes for a very mediocre breakfast. My Pancake was hard on one side which made it impossible to cut into pieces. I had to scrape out the edible parts. All of us ordered pretty basic foods... bacon, omelets, breakfast burrito, home fries... all items were underwhelming and lacked flavor. Thank goodness for the bottle of hot sauce on the table. Honestly I could have whipped up a better and quicker breakfast myself. There was no excuse for the loooooong wait for our breakfast. I'm guessing the cook took a long smoke break? I would not recommend this place and I will definitely not be back.

Yelp
The lemon tree is a great undiscovered gem. The friendly staff combined with excellent home cooking can bring anyone back to their childhood. Service could be slow at times, but that can be overlooked after you experience the delectable, scrumptious food the Lemon Tree offers. Every item on the menu offers a burst of flavor with every bite. For being in a populated beach town, The Lemon Tree has very affordable prices. All in all the friendly staff, affordable prices, and delicious food, make the Lemon Tree a five star restaurant.

Yelp
We walked from the beach to grab to-go lunch from Lemon Tree, and it was exactly what we wanted. Lemon Tree had something for everyone in our group and was easy. I loved the easygoing vibe of the restaurant - part family spot, part diner. I ordered an Italian Sub with all of the toppings, which was pretty good overall. My partner ordered a burger, and a number of my other family members ordered Cheesesteaks, which they really enjoyed.

Timothy C.

Yelp
As opposed to the myriad of dining establishments along Hwy 1 on the way to Rehoboth, Lemon Tree Restaurant isn't trying to impress anyone with bright colors, catchy names, and expensive seafood - just diner and deli classics for locals here! Our group ordered a chicken salad sandwich, a Reuben, and an Italian sub before the drive back to Maryland - all good. Helpful staff, down-to-earth people, and a good find if you're looking to grab some food without straying to far from the Lewes beach or Cape Henlopen State Park. They do what they do well!

Karen M.

Yelp
I wouldn't recommend at all. Saw the reviews and decided to try it but the foot was only adequate and the place could use a power wash inside and out.

Yelp
We have been coming to LEWES for years, and to The Lemon Tree at least once in each trip. It is a wonderful little local gem... Eggs to order, lots of choice, great service... We'll be back!!!

Michael C.

Yelp
Good quick breakfast and lunch spot.... pancakes are Humongous only order 1 ..unless you don't want to eat the rest of the day .Sausage was good and thick patties. Overall a good place for a quick bite

Sarah B.

Yelp
We had such a great experience this morning! The chip beef was fantastic!! Bridgett was so fun and kept us laughing!! Great home town cooking!

Lori V.

Yelp
Been there 2 weeks in a row. Great service and the pancakes are huge! Eggs are cooked the way I like them. For some restaurants over medium is impossible but Lemon Tree has it perfect.

Edward S.

Yelp
Best creamed chipped beef l had in a long time Mel's has Flo, the Lemon Tree has Terri. Good sassy service. She tells it like it is!

Fay R.

Yelp
Served our kid first thank goodness. Kind, attentive, food was good. Awesome local greasy spoon.

Dan D.

Yelp
Off the Main Street of the crazy Lewes town. Short walk and worth it. Breakfast pancakes were awesome.

Brian O.

Yelp
I love this place. Been going for years. Their scrapple and subs are my favorite. The staff are friendly people. My grandfather loves their chipped Beef. Its the cheapest food around in Lewes and the best tasting hands down. They might have a crowd some day's and have a little bit of a wait, but you have to realize the crowds there are hit or miss bc the fairy and the beach goers. During the off season you get your food in no time. The food is fresh and worth any wait if there is one. They know my whole familys order we go there so much. Its def a gem. Any review less than 4 stars must have been " That Guy " if you know what I mean....Lot of locals frequent there and are friendly. Must eat there.

Raya Y.

Yelp
What a joke. 35 minutes for a breakfast sandwich, AND rude. The younger woman who works the counter couldn't care less. Maybe if you stopped running your mouth with coworkers things would move quicker.

Galina S.

Yelp
Excellent, low key, super tasty homemade food, great people willing to accommodate your request. Five min walk from the beach. Keep coming to this place every time!

Ron D.

Yelp
Been here twice and will never return. Latest visit: walk in, seat ourselves. After no acknowledgemet from wait staff, notice "self serve" coffee. Walk over to get my own coffee when one of the waitresses grabs the coffee pot and proceeds to begin refilling her tables. Walk back with empty cups and sit down expecting the waitress to eventually make it to our table. She doesn't. Walk over again and fill our cups. Another waitress comes by to take our order. We order milk for the kids. Have to ask for creamer. Waitress brings creamer, no spoons. Milk shows up for the kids and my oldest says it tastes like "onions." Wife tastes it and it's sour. Still no spoons. Still can't drink our coffee. We left and won't be back.

Yelp
hi yelpers....found this little gem in lewes deleware yesterday in this little strip mall on savannah rd....I had short stack French toast (u order by the piece here) , ham steak /w an ice tea....everything was tasty along with quick svc...everyone was friendly along with a nice crowd....the place was clean and bright......chk this one out....next time I am going to try lunch here

Lynne P.

Yelp
We found this little gem on a rainy morning when we couldn't go to the beach. It was a breath of fresh air after the tourist traps up and down route 1. The locals were friendly, the coffee was serve-yourself, and we sat in the big front window and chatted and watched the storm blow by. Delicious french toast, classic breakfast fare, incredibly affordable. I will definitely plan to visit again the next time we're at the DE Beaches.

J D.

Yelp
Just OK. Had the hamburger for lunch. Meat was good but to much bread did away with the top roll and cut the bottom in half and still to much bread for the meat but was better this way. Need smaller rolls.

Cathy R.

Yelp
We waited over 45 minutes for food! We only ordered 3 breakasts. The food was mediocre, considering our meals consisted of scrambled eggs, toast, bacon, and one bagel. The waitress was very rude and the cook was talking on the phone most of the time instead of cooking.

Cass C.

Yelp
We found this place on Memorial Day after another deli down the road ran out of food. The Lemon Tree had closed at 2pm for the holiday, and we showed up at 2:20, but the staff still happily offered to make us some sandwiches to go. Everything was so fresh and delicious, and the meat looked like it had been sliced fresh just for us! The prices were very reasonable for sandwiches to go. I'd definitely go back!

Frank D.

Yelp
Good breakfasts at very reasonable prices. Decor could use some work. Most of the time there may only be two people running the restaurant, everything is prepared when ordered so sit back and relax.

Jo P.

Yelp
Walked in and felt I was being transported to the "before" part of an episode of Restaurant Impossible. Dirty, water stained celling tiles, and just all around rum down. No real wait staff. You grab a menu at the ordering window, order, and then eventually you get your food. Service...if you can call it that, was painfully slow. When the food finally did arrive, it was painfully bland. The grilled chicken tasted more like boiled chicken. Burger was equally bland. And if you can't even put salt on French fries you've pretty much given up. Stopped here because we thought it would be quick. It wasn't and certainly the food doesn't justify the wait when just up the street is a little Italian shop/cafe that never let us down.

Tom M.

Yelp
The couple who came in the same time as me ate and relaxed and left before I was served. It was busy on a Sunday morning with only one inexperienced server ; I could overlook that. But to have bad scrapple in lower Delaware ( home of the best scrapple) was unforgivable.

Kim H.

Yelp
We went for breakfast and had absolutely terrible service. The food was very plain and the restaurant was extremely dirty. The ceiling tiles had mold and we're falling down. The waitress was the owners daughter and she was extremely rude the whole time and it took forever to get our food we waited at least 40 minutes just to get our food. She never asked what wanted to drink. When we were finished she gave us our bill that was hand written it said $41.99. We went up to the cash register to pay and the waitress charged us $44.99. So we questioned why the price changed. The waitress immediately got very nasty with us and said "that's what the paper said" her mom came over pulled the paper out of the trash and agreed with us and said pay them their money back they should only be getting charged $41.99. We think the daughter is pocketing the extra money she is charging people. We will never go there again!!!
