Get These 10 Birthday Freebies in San Francisco | Eater SF

"The Lemonade chain is (perhaps on purpose?) vague about their birthday freebies, but the rewards page does promise free food after you sign up on the website or download the app. But if you enjoy Lemonade’s poke bar, salads, hot food, or drinks, you most likely won’t hate whatever free item comes your way." - Dianne de Guzman

The 25 Best Child-Friendly Restaurants in San Francisco | Eater SF

"Kids really dig the see-it-and-point concept at this mini-chain of bright, upscale cafeterias imported from Los Angeles. Parents appreciate that everything — from the avocado-poke toast to the grilled salmon with chimichurri and sweet potato hash — is made daily on premises. Get a tray and combine any number of options from the counters displaying cold and hot mains and sides, sandwiches, desserts, and drinks including blood orange lemonade before settling into a booth. Or consider picnicking right outside in Yerba Buena Gardens and let the little ones get their wiggles out. There’s a second location in West Portal." - Laura Smith Borrman

26 of the Best Counter Service Spots in San Francisco - Eater SF

"Lemonade has arrived with three SF locations — one in Yerba Buena, another in West Portal, and a third in the Inner Sunset at 1266 9th Avenue — to share its vegetable-focused fare, following the growing trend of making meat a side dish rather than the star of the plate. Though based in LA where sunny skies are the norm, the bright and airy brand came to San Francisco with a slightly different menu offering to match the weather." - Stefanie Tuder, Ellen Fort, Caleb Pershan

The food was ok, I found ordering to be a little confusing. I feel the meal was overpriced and lacked flavor. Dirty tables is a pet peeve of mine especially when an establishment are not busy. Carrot ginger lemonade was great but overall I won’t be eating here again.

Google
Great staff, amazing food, healthy options, and indoor and outdoor seating. I normally come here to get my lunch during the week as they participate in meal pal which I'm so glad they do because it exposed me to such a great spot. Way better than proper food and some of the other nearby options.

Google
5 stars for the people working there. Blanca was so kind. Felt super nice! Also gave me a free lemonade because they had extra.

Google
It's my first time going and I'll definitely be back! I had the Chicken pesto sandwich which came with BBQ potato chips. Hadn't quite expected that, but it was a good addition. Also hadn't expected the slices of tomato and mozzarella to be thicker than you might usually find on a sandwich. The Raspberry mint lemonade was perfectly well balanced. I was thrown off at first when ordering, it says they add sugar to every drink. The non sugar option is Stevia. It seems like the base lemonade has no sugar in it so they add it when making your drink, but have to mention it on the menu.

Google
Great option for healthy food. The people at the counter are super kind, the food is really good quality, not too expensive and very well served. We build our own bowls but there are a lot of options. The cucumber water was a bit acid but it was ok.

Google
I was really excited to discover this place as I’m always on the look out for tasty healthy options when out and about. But I was pretty disappointed that my salmon dish hardly had any salmon in it and was in little chunks, not like it’s pictured on the menu as a full slice of fish. I don’t know if it was a fluke or if it’s always like that. I’m hoping it was just a fluke because I’d love to make this a regular stop, as it was delicious and seemed healthy! It just wasn’t enough to fill me. :/

Google
Only 2 items but filling and tasty, and the cucumber lemonade was so light and refreshing!

Google
Had a very healthy and fulfilling lunch today. I enjoyed all the freshly made options. My favorite is the beet cous cous, the grilled cheese and tomatoes soup. But today I got the build your own bowl. The bowl included cauliflower dish, brown rice, green Chile chicken and Mac n cheese. I ate every bite. My favorite beverage is the blood orange lemonade.

Yelp
I just love lemonade and wish there were more of them throughout the Bay. Food is pre-prepared, so quick, healthy, flavorful, reasonably priced. This location is right next to the Yerba Buena Gardens (not in the food court which is adjacent). I usually get a build your own salmon plate which is a great deal ($18), considering how much fish plates can usually cost! The cut is pretty tender, reasonably sized, then pick a base and two sides. Curried cauliflower is one of my favorite sides here- flavorful, without being too overpowered/spicy from the curry. Tons of lemonade options of course, option to make them sugar free. Ample size for $3.75

Yelp
I really wanted to like Lemonade, but this spot and the food was lackluster. It wasn't a busy afternoon and the staff seemed like they all had competing things to do, although I was the only person in the restaurant. For a first timer, I had high hopes for the types of food, but I found the Mango Chicken bowl to seriously bland, mostly dry, and underwhelming. I'm not sure that I would go back to this location, but might be willing to try another one to see if this day was only a fluke, which I hope is the case.

Yelp
I came in wanting to try their Lavender Elderflower Lemonade and it was really refreshing and not too sweet. I thought I was going to taste more of the lavender flavor from the lemonade, however I tasted more of the blue butterfly tea instead. My friend and I got 2 salads from the Summer Limited Time Salads: the Summer Veggie Crunch Salad and the turkey salad (I didn't get to catch the name for that). The Summer Veggie Crunch had this champagne vinaigrette that went well with the salad. If you want a quick stop to grab a refreshing drink, I'd come in for their handcrafted lemonades!

Yelp
Most of the fast food type restaurants that I review will fall into the 3 star level. I had the avocado toast and felt it was good, nothing that will rock your world, but good enough. The ice tea here was too strong. Prices are reasonable the place was very clean. Staff works quickly to get your order as you like it. It feels like a Panera to me. Nice stop for a bite before going to the Moma.
google avatar

Candice T.

Yelp
The elder flower lemonade is really good! The character turmeric was OK. The truffle mac & cheese did not taste like it had any truffles in it.
google avatar

Yelp
I swung by to pick up a quick lunch and grabbed a Build Your Own bowl, opting for chicken breast, cauliflower rice, roasted veggies, snap pea edamame, and ponzu sauce. Unfortunately, for the price, I found the portion to be on the smaller side, and the flavor left much to be desired. The chicken breast was dry. The roasted veggies and edamame didn't have much taste. Even with the addition of ponzu sauce, the overall flavor profile was underwhelming, and it felt like something was missing - maybe a creamier sauce would have been better, albeit less healthy. In all honesty, I think I could whip up a healthier and tastier bowl at home. If you're not too concerned about taste and prioritize a healthier option over flavor, I guess this place would be fine.

Yelp
I wish there was a closer lemonade to my home but the one in downtown sf is such a vibe! I love getting their blood orange hibiscus lemonade and it's only $3.75!!!
google avatar

Junie E.

Yelp
I went back to explore the menu more and it doesn't fail to disappoint! The mango chicken and blood orange hibiscus was just simply delicious to the point where a normally slow eater like me demolished it in a few minutes!

Yelp
Food is good but service is not it. Cute place too, and packaging to go is good. I have dietary restrictions (gluten free) and got an avocado toast. We had 4 sandwiches in total and they made our order incorrect. I had asked for a skinny low sugar drink and got a classic instead. Didn't say anything because the payment machine wasn't working so she seemed to be busy. Then when the toast came out they didn't use gluten free bread. I asked them to fix it and they then asked me to pay for another sandwich (this order was already over $50). I said no so they remade it but used a smaller bread and didn't even cover it with avocado. Looks like they just removed the avocado from the previous non gluten bread and put it on my gluten free bread. It was definitely super yummy but experience left a bad taste with the attitude we received.

Yelp
The cucumber mint lemonade was a little sweet but very good! The workers were nice and the place was clean!
google avatar

Yelp
Food tried: roasted turkey BLTA (kinda dry, pricy) Service: good, allows samples Vibes: corporate lunch spot

Yelp
got the Skinny Lemonade Hibiscus Tea and it was delicious! not sickly sweet like many other lemonades out there, and you can taste the hibiscus tea. I chose the sugar-free lemonade and the drink was refreshing. the staff were also very friendly and quick.

Yelp
I have walked by this place many times when I was visiting Metreon and Yerba Buena Gardens, and finally decided to give it a try this winter (I apologize for my severely delayed review). They offered a Yelp check-in perk of getting a free lemonade, so I used that at the time to get a pineapple mango lemonade. I also ordered a plate with buckwheat soba with kimchi, mandarin sweet potato and pistachio, Mexican street corn, and red rice. I do appreciate that they allow a lot of customization and have a decent amount of vegetarian options that are pretty nutritious. Since the diferent foods were already pre-prepared and were cold or room temperature, the meal itself was also cold, but I didn't mind it too much since the foods involved tasted okay. I was actually pleasantly surprised that the food was pretty good, with a nice balance of savory and sweet flavors and different textures given some of the harder bits like pistachio and softer parts like sweet potato, as well as the soba for carbs. The lemonade was decent, but I always feel like the lemon part of it is really overpowering so I would prefer less lemonade so I could better taste the mango and pineapple flavors. Overall, I did like it and would recommend it if you like being able to customize your food rather than only having to order from pre-designed entrees. They have some outdoor tables as well.

Yelp
Getting the order right is the basics of a restaurant. I ordered Salmon with Cauliflower rice from Doordash and they gave me chicken with regular rice. That is not acceptable. Taking this restaurant off my list.
google avatar

Patsy L.

Yelp
The server behind the counter was really nice. Wish I got his name but he was African American & working on 6/26/23 around 1:30pm. There was a guy behind the cash register doing something. No one else was behind me. So the same guy who served me checked me out. Wanted to make sure he got a special shout-out! Place has indoor and outdoor dining. Food is always great, especially mac n cheese! In downtown and near everything (shops, restaurants, metreon, Yerba buena, ..). I've been here a few times, so I'd recommend this place.
google avatar

Brandis W.

Yelp
The blood orange hibiscus lemonade, is good, but if you want a full cup better ask for all the ice.

Yelp
Food: Always Fresh and interesting options! A bit pricy but average for San Francisco Drinks: I love the different lemonade options! I wish there was a way to have ones much less sweet or zero sugar. Ambiance: Vibrant with good energy! Definitely recommend for getting together with friends Service: Everyone was very nice and friendly

Yelp
Poke-cado toast is delicious and very filling. The two gentlemen that I've seen here before in the mornings are welcoming/friendly and the team is great.

Yelp
I visited Lemonade for the first time a few months back, after hearing friends rave about it. It seemed fine, but probably won't be one of my favorites. I wasn't super hungry during my visit, so I ordered an avocado toast and (of course!) a lemonade. For $8.45, I thought this avocado toast was very basic. The toast mainly consists of avocado and chives, but the chives added almost no flavor so the overall dish was pretty weak. Lemonade does offer a more complex Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl for folks who eat fish, but I wish that they also included a vegetarian protein option (such as an egg) that could be put on top to make the regular avocado toast more flavorful and hearty. In the future, I also hope Lemonade builds out their vegetarian menu more. They do offer comfort food sides without meat (Mac & cheese, roasted veggies, mashed potatoes, etc), but no vegetarian protein options or bowls. The last thing I want to mention is that the lemonade was good! I wouldn't go especially for it, but worth having if you're there.

Yelp
We got takeout from here for a work event. I had the spicy ahi tuna with greens for lunch and got to take a mango chicken with sushi rice back home for dinner. The tuna bowl really needed something with more volume and not just the salad greens because it was super super salty. There was a huge glob of furikake and I had to chug a ton of water. Portion was pretty light which I was ok with. However... when I had the chicken later that day, it felt like double the quantity of food! I get that chicken was a heavier protein and there was rice instead of salad, but the chicken bowl lasted me two meals. They need to get consistency in volume and especially sodium.

Yelp
I have underestimated an AVOCADO TOAST ALL MY LIFE! Lol. UNTIL.. I came here! Woww.. absolutely amazing!!! Multigrain bread toasted to perfection Ooo she kinda THICK- cuts - mushed avocados Fresh chunks of ahi tuna Great quality Edamame and Arugula Furikake, Scallion, Pickled red onions.. and to top it all with that fiiiiiiiine sesame vinaigrette BRUHHH!!! They loaded that shiii BIG! $11-12. 490 calories. Whoever worked today 9/24/2022 around 4pm, grateful for ya'll!!! THANK YOU for making my first experience an awesome one. Yelp
Poke bowls and creative lemonade and healthy bites like avacado toast this healthy eatery has flavor and spice along with great service. I was happy to see OLIPOP available. They have a nice patio but are also located adjacent to a lovely park where you could picnic. The cherry trees flowered during our visit. This is a good option for a lunch or a small bite.

Yelp
Like the concept, but it's way overpriced for the tiny portions. I actually came here twice within a week thinking it might be better, but don't think I'll be back anytime soon. Saturday was lemonade day. They had a buy one lemonade, get an entree for free deal. Our drinks were pretty sweet even though we got the skinny versions. Flavors for food was decent & we got: - protein plate with salmon, cauliflower rice, roasted broccoli, and avocado cherry tomatoes - protein plate with ahi tuna, cauliflower rice, Brussels sprouts, and curried cauliflower Favorites between the two plates were the salmon and curried cauliflower. They started a new "bowl Tuesday" promo where they feature a different bowl every week for $7. This week's was an avocado ahi tuna poke bowl so thought I'd give them another try (love poke!). Not sure if it's because it was the special of the day, but portions were out of whack. I barely got any tuna and there was definitely more tangerines than avocado pieces.

Yelp
I haven't been to Lemonade for years now, so decided to go back. It change A LOT. It used to be very innovative, with lots of interesting foods to try. I even remember I used to have one of their cookbooks, because I was so impressed with some of their recipes. But this time around, it all looked pretty 'standard'. Also the place looked a little sad, like it needed an update to be more bright and uplifting like I remembered other branches to be.

Yelp
Not Beyoncé's greatest album but I'm feeling generous today so I'm giving it 4 stars 'Hold Up' is a banger though I gotta say
google avatar

James R.

Yelp
I've had Lemonade a few times over the years. While I appreciate that we have a somewhat healthier option for lunch in the area there's no denying it's pricey especially for what you get. I ordered the spicy ahi tuna bowl and while I liked the overall taste of it. It wasn't very spicy and I wish they gave just a bit more protein as my bowl was more filler than fish. Regardless, it was still a decent lunch and truth be told I'll probably check out more things off their menu eventually when I'm trying to eat a bit healthier.

Frederick J.

Yelp
Certainly the food here was more than acceptable and tasty too and there is a good variety of choices . Jessica was my server and did an outstanding job on both greeting and expediting my order - full house marks !

Griselda C.

Yelp
Great customer service ! Blanca was extremely nice and welcoming. When I didn't know what to drink or eat, she was patient. The store is super clean as well! Highly recommend eating at this location.
google avatar

Carolin S.

Yelp
Food is usually really good and healthy for the most part. Unfortunately the lemonade cake was dry stale as if it had been previously frozen. Also they have halved the size of the slices now. Very disappointing. I do love the Mexican street corn avocado tomato salad as well as the Brussel sprouts with dates though. Those never fail to please me!
google avatar

Gurleen B.

Yelp
I love lemonade. I wish they had more locations in Northern California. Every time I'm in SF we try to stop here.
google avatar

Claudenice A.

Yelp
Nice ambiance, the service is friendly. The juice with ginger so good. The food is good.
google avatar

Jennifer N.

Yelp
I'm a big fan of lemonade but this was my first time at this location. And I gotta say, it is pretty rough. Smells like trash outside because of the dumpster, everything is so dirty as if nobody does any bussing of the tables. And I found hair in my food. I felt pretty ripped off for paying $20 here considering the quality of the food and ambiance. Most of my items were also lukewarm rather than hot.
google avatar

Scott H.

Yelp
Wow. I'm impressed. My kitchen has been under construction for months. I've eaten out every meal since March. But I'm just now stumbling onto Lemonade. My experience was nothing like any of the negative reviews. The staff were more than happy to help me make a choice. They even let me try a couple of the Lemonades. I chose the build your own, a la cart option. Sometimes that goes bad when you mix things that really shouldn't be mixed. But my mixture was fantastic. Curry cauliflower Broccoli ricotta Honey roasted brussel sprouts Mango chicken. And the whole thing was over a bowl of greens. It was a fantastic combination of warm and cold. And the flavors could not have done a better job complimenting each other. For beverage, I mixed the cucumber mint and the artificially-sweetened (calorie-free sweetener) lemonade. If I had it to do again, I would not get the lemonade with the meal. The lemonade was almost too perfectly and intensely lemony to go with food. I think I'd have been better off with a Diet Coke or some bottled water. But be lemonade was shockingly awesome. I think it would make a great out the door chaser after you're done with your meal. The restaurant was immaculately clean. I will definitely be back to this place.
google avatar

Joanna T.

Yelp
Healthy food options whether needing a small portion of protein and/or vegetable, Lemonade's got my vote! Reasonably priced for healthy food.

Yuriko L.

Yelp
small ass portion. hell no. $16 for a poke bowl, i expected there to be more rice at least. tell me why was it hella salty. nu uh.

Yelp
SEARED AHI BOWL FOOD REVIEW ONLY I'm pretty shocked that this place is pretty bad reviews BUT i did order here on Doordash so I have no opinion on in-store experience or service! The bowl was unique and I enjoyed it!! The chili citrus ponzu sauce tasted like classic ponzu sauce (very light, not very citrus-y at all). I ordered with cauliflower rice which tasted good! They put about six slices of seared ahi tuna and the tuna tasted good - pretty fresh, not chewy, very soft and seared well. The dish itself would be very bland without the sauce, obviously (aka nothing is flavored). I enjoyed this meal because it felt very light and healthy. The only downside is the price and quantity. I ate this bowl and was still so hungry after (I guess it really was mostly veggies but I've ordered many salads before and they got me full). For $17, I was expecting to be a lot more filled.
google avatar

Tabitha C.

Yelp
My advice - When life gives you lemons, just take yourself on a date to Lemonade, Target, and the MoMA. I think that in order to love this place, you have to stick to their lemonade! I've tried all of their different lemonade flavors over the years and they are ALWAYS top tier. They are truly so delicious and popular for a reason. I prefer to stop in for just lemonades and the occasional jumbo macaron. Their frozade (slushy/Icee) offering is usually pretty tasty as well! Every single time I get food here I end up regretting it. Sometimes it is okay, but never good enough to be worth the price. The only food items I like are the green bean chicken and their Caprese sandwich. I've tried just about everything they offer. As a mac & cheese aficionado, I grudgingly suggest passing on both of their versions. Their food is below average cafeteria-style food, but it does make nice takeout for a Yerba Buena Gardens picnic next door! This is a really great area for a picnic and an afternoon of shopping or museum hopping.

Yelp
Lemonade is a great little lunch place that we like to order our office catering through. The selections are healthy, satisfying and comforting (mac and cheese). I love the seasonal menu and bright colorful salads, protein bowls, poke bowls and lunch combos. The ahi poke bowl, grilled herb chicken sandwich, snap pea edamame salad with watermelon radishes are a few of my favorites. I order the skinny lemonades like the Skinny Lemonade + Hibiscus Flower T and Skinny Lemonade + Blue Butterfly T. Refreshing and light without that fake sweet flavor. Great place to order for teams, as they have quite a selection of both meat, veggie and vegan. Low fat, comfort foods and sweets.
google avatar

Naina S.

Yelp
I finally got to try the infamous Lemonde's lemonade. We got a Pink Dragon Fruit Lemonade and a Skinny Lemonade + Hibiscus Flower T. They both were super refreshing to drink as we walked around Yerba Buena Gardens on a hot Saturday. The lemonade itself made me pucker and good for any big lemonade lover out there. I personally thought the Arnold Palmer was great though and the perfect mix between tea and lemonade for me. The flavor hit really well for me. Visually speaking, the drinks are also gorgeous to look at. It would be really cute to match your outfit to your drink and take a picture with it. The staff was also friendly and helped us pick out a lemonade. I haven't tried the food yet so I'll be coming back to do that and expand on this review with that included.
google avatar

Sammi T.

Yelp
I got a chicken pesto sandwich with chips, and it was pretty mid. Honestly, I think this place is only okay. It serves its purpose which is a fast but healthy bite to eat while you're on the go but it doesn't leave much to be desired. I thought the lemonade was too sweet for my taste. It hits the spot for the price and convenience but probably wouldn't come back to it unless I needed it.
google avatar

Chris W.

Yelp
Lemonade is starting these $7 bowltuesdays where they feature a different bowl dish for a discount. My wife ordered todays special - ahi tuna poke and this is what we got. Mostly rice, a few pieces of tuna, and some crispy onion and seaweed/fingers - nothing close to their pictures, or what we were expecting. If we paid full price $15 for this I would be pretty upset, even for $7 it was not worth it. Hope they don't give half portions for bowltuesdays.
google avatar

Alissa I.

Yelp
The portions sizes are so bad, first of all. And WHY did my poke have oranges in it! There's so many options in SF, this is definitely a no from me. Made a huge mistake trying this place. Way too expensive for what the taste, quality, and portion sizes are.
google avatar

Angela L.

Yelp
Review for their Weekly Tuesday Bowls Every Tuesday, Lemonade is offering one of their signature bowls for $7! This is a great deal for a mid-week treat! Mango chicken bowl 4.5/5 The mango chicken bowl comes with three large pieces of chicken breasts, roasted Brussels sprouts, red kale salad, with Mango sauce on top. The mango sauce is bomb! But I have to say that the portion really varies with who helped you. I got the chicken bowl twice - one time the bowl was only 3/4 full and the other time the nice staff even had a hard time to close the lid. Red miso beef bowl 4/5 The braised beef and fried garlic are really good. The sauce is a little oily tho.

Yelp
i have always wanted to try Lemonade. I have heard a lot of mix reviews from friends. i have heard that the food is decent but over priced. but I have also heard that the food is fresh and a lot of variety. and when I looked at the prices myself i do agree that is on the higher end. But today was special we had free food delivered from our vendors and I was finally able to try their food without spending my own money... lol I know that's being cheap. but its rough times now. What I was able to try was the cauliflower rice with steak and also the hatch Chile chicken bowl. the steak cauliflower bowl had a lot of kick to it. the sauce I the little container was delicious. my co worker said she can smell the lime and the cilantro. I'm not sure what the sauce was but it was green, had a citrus and red chili to it. and when mixed with the cauliflower rice it didn't like so much. the cauliflower became mushy, soggy, and not a good texture for me personally. I am thinking with rice the sauce would have absorbed more and less mushy food. They also add string bean which was nice. but at the tips of the string beans the little steam or root was still attached. that was hard to bite. I do wish that they would remove that before serving. cooking wise that can burn quick because its such a thin piece. and for presentation wise it was not appealing. but on the other had i liked the hatch Chile Chicken bowl more. the bowl comes with rice, Mexican sweet corn, lime, cilantro, red jalapenos and cotija cheese. I honestly to say I didn't se much red jalapenos. but over all this was my favorite bowl out of the two. the chicken was nicely seasoned. the corn was nice but I found some corn was hard to chew like it was not cooked or sautéed well enough. when i separated the piece of chicken i noticed that it was pinkish red. not sure if that is usually how the chicken is made of its was made more on the side of its just cooked well enough that its not rare. but after removing the chicken and just eating the sauce and corn and rice it was delicious and flavorful. I think i might have to go in person to order a different dish and try it fresh vs a delivery that was sitting for almost 2 hrs.

Yelp
This is one of my go to's. I love the vegetarian and pescatarian products! I see they are doing Poke not - I have never been disappointed as just this week I had a great lunch with the Salmon, quinoa brown rice, salad and etc! Luv it

Yelp
For a quick, but filling bite to eat- Lemonade is the best. They've got amazing sides and a diverse sandwich menu to pick from, as well as salads and other plates that looked so good. Everything in there is appetizing and makes my mouth water, I could literally eat anything on the menu and be happy. 100 stars!
google avatar

Daemon W.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much from the outside, but, as they say, "you can't judge a book by it's cover." I ordered the Roasted Chicken Protein Plate with red rice, cherry tomatoes and baby Brussels Sprouts. It was, without a doubt, one of the best salads I have ever had in my life! If you're in the area, you need to stop by this place
google avatar

Suelin K.

Yelp
The store ambiance is clean, neat and has a good outdoor seating area. The location of course is very central and a short distance away from your shopping trip. The service, although a little slow, was good and the lady working seemed to know the menu well. I'd rate the service 4 stars. The food itself is 2 stars (hence my overall 3 star rating). Rice was terrible, portions were small (in my poke bowl, I counted 6 dices of poke...) and everything else was just OK. Nothing to write home about. 3 meals, 3 drinks, ~$54. I'd place this on a similar tier of food as a chipotle, subway, etc. Not the worst if you're in a pinch, but definitely go somewhere else if you have the time.

Yelp
I was hesitant to get Lemonade because I was not a fan of their food at a different location before. This time at the downtown location, I got their ahi tuna and avocado poke bowl and it was absolutely delicious. The flavors just went so well with each other with every bite I took. I also got the cucumber mint lemonade which was very refreshing. I will definitely come back for their poke bowls!
