Very disappointing experience. I went in to this restaurant on Friday night at dinner time to pick up the order I had placed online. There were about three orders to go on the counter, and there were four tables with customers. I ordered the Spring Rolls for $4.50, Bellevue Thai Fried Rice for $13.95, and the Pad Thai for $14.95. I also included a 10% tip. Excluding tax, my total came to $36.74. My critique, including their description of each dish which I copied and pasted, follows.
1. Spring Rolls - Crispy Spring Rolls filled with shredded vegetables, bean thread noodles, and deep fried served with our sweet & sour house sauce. The two small spring rolls were so thoroughly greasy as to be inedible. They tasted frozen, because they were small and very uniform looking and had absorbed so much of the grease as frozen food tends to do when you deep fry it. I don't know for sure. But the level of greasiness was untenable. Yuck.
2. Bellevue Thai Fried Rice - Fried rice with eggs, your choice of meat, onions, basil, and bell peppers. The first thing I noticed was there was no sauce at all. I've never had food from a Thai restaurant that didn't have either some sauce on the food or some in the bottom of the dish. There were no eggs. And probably two small slivers of onion and two or three small slivers of Bell Peppers. The bulk of the meal was rice. It was dry because there was no sauce. And I've never had fried rice ever without scrambled eggs mixed throughout. Disappointing.
3. Pad Thai - The popular Noodles Lover Dish, stir-fried with thin rice noodles in brown sweet & sour sauce, along with eggs, bean sprouts, crushed peanuts on the side and top with green onions. Again, no sauce although it is specifically mentioned in the description. There were two small flakes of eggs. There also was not one sliver of a green onion to be found. The bulk of the meal was the rice noodles.
One of my complaints besides the fact that aesthetically it's not very pleasing is when the pieces of meat are not cut relatively small. They should be bite-sized, because you're not going to be using a knife on it. I couldn't eat the pieces of chicken without cutting them up with a knife and fork because they were so large. It's not just for ease of eating the meal. It just doesn't look pretty.
I don't write many negative reviews but after paying what I did with a 10% tip added, I wasn't going to let this one slide. I not only hope that future customers are aware of these issues, but honestly? Most of all, I hope the owner reads my review and steps up their game. It wouldn't take much to make all these dishes much better tasting (and visually appealing) than they currently are.
