"Camden Town is pretty full on. Lots of people, lots of shuffling, and lots of CBD-infused Doc Martens. If you’re looking for respite from it all, head to Lemonia on Regent’s Park Road. This family-run Primrose Hill classic has been serving mezze and souvlaki to the young and old of north London for donkey’s years, and it’s a big Greek restaurant that’s perfect for groups but also full of solo diners at lunchtime. You won’t be stunned, but you will be very satisfied." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, rianne shlebak, sinead cranna
"Lemonia is an old-school spot in Primrose Hill that makes lemony, herby, and homely Greek food. It’s a NW London stalwart that would be heaving, even if it was midweek, raining, and London was being evacuated, with tables of friends piling soft baked lamb and pourgouri onto their plates. It’s a restaurant you can rely on to have atmosphere and to fill you with food and wine without taking more than £60 quid off you." - sinead cranna, jake missing, rianne shlebak, heidi lauth beasley
"Hey, you know what’s nice? Yes, tzatziki. But also, smiling. And that’s exactly what we do every time we go to Lemonia, a great little Greek restaurant in Primrose Hill that’s been open for over 40 years. Thanks to its classic look and endearing quantity of plants, this neighbourhood spot is almost always packed. It’s particularly perfect for a big, buzzing birthday situation where you can get involved with everything from their tahini to their damn good pourgouri—a soft, spiced, and crunchy wheat pilaf. Just be sure to book ahead for easy access to their dolmades." - heidi lauth beasley, rianne shlebak, jake missing
"You get the feeling that some of the old blokes having a lone bowl of soup in Lemonia have been wiping their bowl of fagges (spicy lentil soup) clean with warm pitta bread for the best part of a decade. To be honest, we don’t blame them. This classic Greek restaurant in Primrose Hill is an old favourite, and when their bowls of avgolemono (chicken broth with lemon and rice) and fagges are this generous and warming, you can see why there are so many loyal regulars." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing, sinead cranna
"There’s no better London neighbourhood on a proper summer’s day than Primrose Hill. But when summer fails to show up, that doesn’t mean you should rule out a visit to NW1. Especially when you consider that it’s home to one of north London’s most popular restaurants, Lemonia. Though it might not be the best Greek restaurant in town, it’s probably the happiest. You get all the normal stuff here: hot mezze, cold mezze, and a selection of meat and fish cooked on charcoal grills, however, it’s the spirit of the place that makes it a forever summer spot. The staff are gregarious and fun, it’s always rammed, and the space itself - particularly the back room - feels like the memory you have of a sunbaked Mediterranean courtyard. It’s the perfect place for ridding yourself of the perma-gloom of a British summer." - heidi lauth beasley, jake missing
