We enjoyed an exceptional experience in this almost hidden beauty of a restaurant in Honfleur. The standout features were the chilled atmosphere created by the muted but classy decor and the charming, engaging and thoroughly professional staff, together with some of the finest meat cookery we’ve ever experienced. Tip of the day for those considering a visit is to skip breakfast and lunch, don’t bother with starters (not that there’s anything wrong with them) and pass on the (very tempting) bread; then simply dive headfirst in to the Cote de Boeuf. This stunner of a dish is served on a large wooden board with (untypically of the French) plenty of flavoursome veg, which would alone make a hearty dish but the beef, of course, is the main event and is utterly sublime. Ours was cooked to perfection with a crusty exterior full of gnarly joy and the juiciest of centres, which kept on delivering flavour chew after loving chew. I think we had a dessert but to be honest we were so blown away by the main course that I can’t recall what it was like.
