Selfishly, I am glad that there isn't a line around the block for Leon's International sandwiches and baklava; however, there should be! - Hands down, the head baker at Leon's creates the best pastries I've ever had the pleasure of eating. It is the most perfectly light and flaky baklava, not at all syrupy or dense, with truly out-of-this-world variations.
The owner and staff are welcoming and delightful. They are always happy to educate you on the ingredients and teach you about some of the lesser-known dishes (like the stuffed eggplants!)
If you are reading this and have one of those Instagram accounts with a kajillion views, you should do this little family-owned business and yourself a favor: grab a falafel and a tray of fresh-baked baklava and tell the rest of the city about this gem.
For the purpose of those searching on Google: You can find labneh, za'atar, fresh pita, baklava, falafel, kibbeh, coffee, tea, chocolate, cakes, and more at this small specialty grocer.
