Leone's Subs & Pizza

Went here late on 8/19 for my first meal after landing in Boston. There was about a 30-minute wait for pizza, but it was well worth it. Coming from Texas, the ordering style was different—when I asked for pizza, the cashier explained I could choose a half tray or full tray (about 2 slices per person). A half tray is basically equal to a large pizza box, so I ordered a full tray for the four of us. We all got super full and still had another box to eat for leftovers! We got the Meat Lovers, and it was fantastic. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside yet soft on the inside, super cheesy, and the meatball topping was amazing! The cashier was super friendly. We ordered a meatball sub while we waited for our pizza. My siblings loved it. Highly recommend this spot I’d definitely come back!

Great Sicilian, round pizza, and subs. My favorite is the Eggplant parm. They are cash only but have an ATM on site.

We love the pizza from here, but when we called to order a pizza for delivery we were told ‘“nope not here, you have to order online” and then they just hung up. So we go to order online and there is a $5 website service fee! We ordered with Uber Eats instead which came out to be significantly cheaper. So buyer beware, if you want to get pizza from here delivered get it on Uber. I feel bad for their delivery drivers but I’m not paying an extra $5 unnecessarily.

Absolutely unreal steak bomb sandwich. Good portions too. I added mustard, hots and tomato. I will probably order that moving forward. only $11 or so as well. Leones is cash only with an ATM on location. The service was fairly friendly but it took a very long time. There is a constant flow of delivery pick-ups and other people standing around waiting.

This place has the best pizza! Generously topped, full of flavor, and truly one of a kind—nothing else compares. Once you try it, you’ll keep coming back for more. Highly recommend!

Wish I could have eaten here. Used to love this place. . No debit or credit accepted. So the conveniently have an ATM in the store where they make three dollars every time you use it. . They know people have to use it and Jo one has cash on them. Well that’s what they are banking on. Pissed I was hungry.

CASH ONLY or order online and pay a premium. Delicious Sicilian style, loved the spinach garlic. Loaded with mozzarella. Crunchy edges. Almost a thin focaccia if you’ve never had it. Worth a try. President Obama’s favorite while at Harvard.

They always have great food, down to earth staff. There’s one woman who works here she’s shorter and wears glasses… let me tell you, she makes a MEAN egg, pepperoni, cheese, and grilled onion sub! She’s always so sweet as well!

Best of the best. The real veal and eggplant is my personal go to and there is none better. Anywhere. The Sicilian square pizza as a huge seller. The subs are all excellent and cover all the old school greater Boston neighborhood based Italian sub shop bases. Even ones like pepper and eggs that are now rare. The subs are HUGE. I'm pretty picky about pizza at this place is good. First time I came in here it was pretty late and I just was looking for somewhere to grab a couple quick slices to take home. This is a classic No Frills pizzeria. Man, when I got home, I was pleasantly surprised! For $6.50 I walked out with a cheese slice and a pepperoni slice that was so good that I actually ate the crust. Make sure you have cash cause it's cash only. Great pizza and great service as well.

My review is based solely on the pizza as I've only had the pizza. Ordered the pepperoni square pizza and the regular cheese 16" round pizza. I asked the round pizza to be well done. It wasn't. The amount of cheese on this pizza turned it into a regular cheese pizza with EXTRA cheese which I didn't order. The round pizza tasted awful. Practically inedible. The square pizza was a little better but not that good. Frankly, I'm surprised this pizza gets high scores. Sorry but I won't be going back. Many more other good places for pizza.

I got the 1/2 tray Cheese Sicilian Pizza for delivery, and while delivery was quick, I was not very impressed by the pizza. The price was fine, a little pricey, and it ended up being $35 total for the pizza. When the pizza arrived it was still a little warm which was good, however, it did not have much flavor. These were big slices that were at least 1 inch thick and way too tall, bready, and cake-like for my liking. At some point I had to dip the slice into ranch dressing for me to even be able to finish a slice. In the end, this is just my opinion since I am pretty picky with my pizza.

Got the 1/2 tray (8 large slices, see photo) Sicilian with peppers and onions (each topping cost an additional $2). As a New Jersey raised fellow, it was very good Sicilian pizza! The sauce was good, cheese was generous, nice fluffy and chewy bread. Docking one star because the price point is pretty hefty, $28 total for 8 slices and 2 toppings. That being said I will order from here again when the desire for Sicilian pizza strikes me!

Cash Only My husband was recommended this one of the best places to get Sicilian pizza from by a coworker whose been coming here since he was a child. So we were nearby and tried them out last night. We ordered a half sheet of pizza which is 8 slices with half pepperoni and half cheese. The owners were friendly. We told them it was our first time there so they gave us the run down. We all really enjoyed the pizza and the service. We'll be back

The pizza here is fkn awesome. Best steak bomb I've ever had. If you know, you know. Since I was a kid I've compared and been on a search for a steak bomb that is compatible or better. Hasn't happened yet.

Went there last night and got three steak and cheese subs. They were absolutely HORRIBLE !! It took the guy so long to make them and also he used pre cooked steak. I should have canceled right then and there. It was clean

The best Sicilian pizza around. Hands down. The cheese and sauce is simply amazing. Wicked cheesey too. Everyone here was so friendly and kind too.

Had the food delivered. The Sicilian pizza is the best I ever had!!! Delivery was fresh and pizza stayed hot during the quick delivery. Would highly recommend! Even the DoorDash driver said it was an amazing choice.

Steak n cheese hit the spot leaving the city after work. Decent prices & easy to pick up

I've lived in Somerville almost all my life but have never had Leone's before today (I'm a Pini's girl). We're now around the corner from them and I finally decided to try a slice. I got the cheese slice. This style of pizza may not be for everyone but I loved it. The dough was delicious and the corner piece especially showcased how airy it was, lots of bubbles and nooks and crannies. The tomato sauce is flavorful and I loved that it was heavy on the cheese. It reminded me of cafeteria pizza in the best way possible, there was something nostalgic about it despite never having eaten it before. If you love cheese and a nice soft heavy pizza go for a center slice. If you like crisp yet chewy dough ask for a corner slice. The square shape means there's something for everyone. Definitely a new favorite!

Pizza just like mom used to make. No kidding. It's the best! I love the corners better than the center pieces. Awesome crust!

Damn! Old Stinky P. had a craving for a sub sandwich, and this decrepit old dude does love a wicked pissah sub. He decided to challenge his Gastric system and order a Meatball sub. Stinky looked at the Yelp reviews and saw that Leone's supposedly had a good one. After dealing with the usual endless wait with food delivery service, it finally arrived. I mean OMG! Does this look appealing? These balls were wicked bland. Even worse, there almost no Tomato sauce on the sub. Just a bit over the top. He ate what he could because he was hungry, and fed the rest to the garbage disposal. Stinky hates to write a negative review, he really does. He is generally a sweet old man. He almost felt the need to give an additional sympathy star, since he has had their Pizza before it was pretty decent, but he decided just to keep the review to Meatballs alone. If you want an excellent Meatball sub, Al's has a great one, and Stinky has even enjoyed Subway's version more than this one.

First time trying. Worst cheese steak ever. No flavor at all. Soggy. Chicken parm same deal. Borderline edible. Pizza was mid. And that's being generous. Greek salad was not a Greek salad. Over priced with nothing to show for it.

This is the real deal- Best Sicilian pizza I have ever had. Don't love that they are cash only, but the pizza is delicious.

Greasy We only got takeout and ordered a large sheet pizza with pepperoni. Leone's is a legend in this neighborhood (not a great one). Ate the pizza in the car during COVID lockout times. Now, this pizza was one of the greasiest we have ever had. Everything is very fresh, but the pizza is like a brick. If your in the mood for some grease, which we all are sometimes, this will do the trick. Seems like it would be great for a hangover. Greasy nostalgia, thanks

Best meatballs subs ever! I've been going to leones since I was little and til this day the subs have always tasted the same!

Here sight seeing in Boston and Leone's was in the hood of our AirBnB. Highly recommend the Grilled Chicken Bomb. So good!! Vegetarians in the family got a couple veggie subs that they really enjoyed. My husband picked up the subs and the guys working there reminded him of the guys in the series "The Bear". Thank you Leone's! Keep making good sandwiches!!!

Had a slice of their Cheese pizza. So good, fresh and warm. I paid 5 dollars for 2 slices. 1slice in the pic as I ate the other one already. :)

Family members tell me they were going here as teens back in the 1950s or 60s. As others have said, excellent Sicilian pizza. Regular pizza is also delicious. If you don't feel like driving into the North End for Regina or to Eastie for Santarpios, go here for excellent old-school pizza.

The pizza here is really good, it's the best I've had so far in Boston. The cooking times are pretty fast but be warned - they only accept cash here.

The Sicilian pizza was slightly below OK. The service was wonderful! They have no website. They have no means of ordering in advance other than by telephone. They only accept CASH‼ The Wilmington House of Pizza makes a fantastic Sicilian pizza‼

About what I expected. It's an ok place food wise. A step above fast food. Pastrami sammy was ok. Pizza doesn't compare to NYC. It's a classic establishment tho and I factor that all in.

The pizza was great! I wish I could've taken the rest on the plane. I had no idea the slices were so large.

Let's start with the good- They have some of the best Sicilian pizza and subs in Boston. My fiancé and I just moved to Somerville and this is one of our favorite places to order pizza from. Their square slices are delicious and super cheesy, and they have some of the best sauce! Everyone inside is always so kind and service is quick. Here comes the bad- We usually don't ever have issues with our food, but tonight I think we were served slices that were out front and reheated- to the point where the cheese and dough became over cooked and hard, making the pizza pretty much inedible. Definitely a let down, but I understand things happen. Back to positive- We also ordered a steak and cheese sub, which was great! Although our pizza fell short, we'll still be back and are hopeful that this experience was just a fluke!

Great Pizza. I come here when ever I am in town. I love their meat lovers Pizza and their Veggie Pizza.

The steak bomb sub was fine, but the "turkey club" doesn't include bacon... Which is very odd

This place popped up as one of the best pizza place in the Boston area. I got the 1/2 tray square Sicilian (1 box 8 slices) which cost only $17.. which if you do the math is pretty cheap per slice. The pizza was loaded with cheese and tomato sauce. The crust was soft and thick. I'll definitely be back to try the one topping pizzas. I really like that they do 1/2 tray as other places like Pinocchio does a full pizza which is expensive and also.. too much pizza. Greta option for a classic cheap and filling pizza!

Can't say enough great things about this place. The food is amazing and same with the staff. Will 100% come to Leone's every time we are in Boston!

Love Leone's. It's our go to pizza option in Somerville. Nice thick, soft dough. Be forewarned it is pretty filling too.

Empty around 1:00pm on a Saturday. Pros: -Sicilian slices Cons: -I think it's cash only -No seating -- Sicilian slice ($2.25) Good flavor, but I wish it was crispier. Soft and chewy throughout with a slight crisp on the crust.

After a long day exploring Boston, everyone wanted pizza but didn't want to go back out. I found Leone's and decided to order delivery. We ordered a large Sicilian slice w/meatballs, onions & olives. The entire family loved it! Just the right amount of sauce with a balance of tomato & spice, tasty meatballs and right amount of Italian olives & onions. It was also touted as Chris Evans' favorite pizza which was a plus for at least one of us Would definitely recommend!

Overpriced, horrible sandwhich, undercooked pizza, cash only, The old guy was really loud and made the atmosphere uncomfortable. would not recommend.

My friend that I'm meeting/visiting said her mom says I have to try Leone's while I'm here in somerville/Boston. Decided last minute on night to try them out for dinner. Went with the half-tray of cheese pizza which come with 8 huge slices of pizza for only $16! $2 a slice isn't bad at all for a huge pizza, especially of its the legit stuff. The staff is really nice and make you feel welcome. Glad I was able to check them out!

Sooooo good! The best pizza ever. I I can't decide if I like the square or the round better. They put oregano on the pizza which I didn't necessarily know that I would love but the pizza is so ridiculously delicious that the oregano is also amazing. Nice people good price highly highly highly.

I order them when I need to get out of the house for a walk. I can't eat pizza anymore, but I drool over theirs when I see someone grabbing a slice when I go in at lunch. Great guys. Great sub. Been going to Leone's since I was a kid and that was 60 years . Amazing food pizza subs. I had them cater my dad's 80th. LOVE IT !! Service is on point and clean kitchen.

It's the best siciliano pie ever. They use the best cheese full fat mozzarella the way pizza should be. No cheap cheddar blend. Been enjoying this place for years! My friends come over when they know it's arriving!

My order was not correct and at that point, we were in New Hampshire. Ordered large sub and received small. Equivalent to a 6 inch subway sub. We will say, we liked the meatball even though wrong size. Also ordered 1/2 Sicilian box and received 1/2 tomato basil. We love their regular Sicilian but this was not received well by the group.

I saw it listed on Instagram as one of a few great places to get Sicilian pizza, so I stopped in at lunch. The place was tiny (no place to sit, but a counter to eat at if I recall). I got two slices of Sicilian cheese (it was more like 2 large and one small). Very affordable. I have to say, the pizza was excellent. I was expecting good, but it was great actually. I will be back for sure!

Didn't live up to the hype for me. Good pizza - although served cold. Steak and cheese was average at best. Don't see myself going out of my way to eat here.

Yes Chris Evans alias Marvel Superhero Captain America's favorite pizza place is Leone's Pizza in the Winter Hill Section of Somerville Massachusetts on Broadway. It's just a few blocks away on the very same exact street on Broadway that Barack Obama had an apartment while attending Harvard Law School. He used to order his favorite Pizza from Leone's. Just recently Mr. Obama stopped by for another delicious slice of Leone's pizza just like he did Back in the Day. See my review of Obama's Apartment. We live in this fast paced ever changing world. What people LOVE about Leone's is that it has stayed exactly the same & tried & true since the 50s. Leone's started in 1954. It serves Sicilian Style Square Bakery Pizza in several varieties. You can order in advance or take a chance & stop by & see what they have available at that time. When I was there they were serving Classic Cheese & Tomato Basil & Garlic. DELICIOUS! It is a small neighborhood gem that has a huge following not only from Somerville but all over Massachusetts & other states too. They also serve subs & other items too. Their Meatball Sub is also a cult favorite. They send food to as far away as California, Florida & Hawaii & other states too. When I went the cars were illegally double parked for one city block long on the weekend - people running in & running out. They take Cash Only but have an ATM in the store. It is a small restaurant that you would totally pass by & never even give it a second thought - A Hole in The Wall. Inside on the right side above the counter there is a video screen of Chris Evans getting surprised with his favorite Leone's Pizza on daytime TV. There's also video of Boston Magazine voting Leone's as One of the Top 21 Places to Eat Pizza in Boston There is metered parking in front for several blocks. Down a few blocks on the other side there is Free 2 Hour Parking. Other than that it is Residents Only Parking & they Ticket - So Watch the Signs! If you are in the Boston area Be Sure to stop in for a slice! It used to be, you had to have Mega Bucks & be really Rich to have the Good Life, not anymore. The Game has changed. You've been Upgraded. Now You Can Live Like a King on a Limited Budget!

Great pizza the very best it doesn't come any better than this location is easy to find parking on street always available staff is very helpful you can not beat Leone's

Oh my god..... never took anyone's advice and took the time to drive over to Somerville for this place. I'm a moron. I tried this place after my god daughters holiday party and well I'm going back tomorow. You know why, it was that freaking good. I got a chicken parm sub that was the best chicken I've tasted in a long time and the pizza oh my god... Better than Bianchis, might rival Santarpios but I need to revisit. I'll take it over Regina yeah yeah don't @ me bro ..... here's a photo
