Here is an oral history of the early founders of the Coney Islands of Detroit | Eater Detroit

"Founded after brothers Pete and Leo Stassinopoulos learned the business from family, the operation began as Southfield Coney in 1972 and expanded into Leo’s Coney Island with a 1988 opening in Troy; the chain sources hot dogs from Koegel Meats and grew out of the same family-driven lineage that produced many of Detroit’s coney islands." - Serena Maria Daniels

This location represeLeo's Coney Island is a great restaurant chain featuring Greek specialties and American diner food. This location represents the brand extremely well with outstanding service and tasty food. The housekeeping however was bit dissopointing and needs attention.

Good prices and great service. We love getting breakfast doordashed from here. The BEST chicken lemon and rice soup. The claw machine is mids and the Labubus are fake tho.

Another good Coney option in the Detroit area. I really enjoyed the chili with spaghetti. Not particularly healthy, definitely a guilty pleasure. But it did taste good.

Came for dinner a couple if times this month. We find it a very pleasant place. Service was great. Food was fresh, as ordered, and tasty. Reasonably priced restaurant. I will come again

It was okay, at best. Basic diner food, but our server was overwhelmed by our group of 13. Even though there was nobody else in the place. Had to repeatedly chase her down for coffee.

Ordered the fried chicken dinner, the leg was no larger than 2 inches long. The other 3 pieces were the same proportion as the leg. The breading was fried to the consistency of a rock. They should be ashamed. All that for 14 dollars.

I have ordered multiple times from here through doordash, and the food has always been good.. I usually don't have a problem until now. I ordered a greek salad with chicken. There was hair in the salad and can be seen as soon as I opened the box. I called to inform the store, and the lady who picked up the phone put me on hold after I told her my issue, only to come back and state the manager told her to let me know to go to Door Dash for a refund. I didn't even mention a refund when I spoke to the lady, and when I asked what am I supposed to do about the food, she stated "I don't know." A good running business would at least have the manager get on the phone and offer an apology. Will not be returning here and I hope everyone double checks their food before consuming.

Out of all the Coney islands in Michigan, Leo's is our most favorite! We go out of our way to come here. All the way from Texas. Always delicious 😋
