Leo's Mexican Food - Review - Lawndale - Los Angeles - The Infatuation
"One of the oldest Mexican restaurants in the South Bay and a bonafide local institution, the first thing you should know about Leo’s in Lawndale is they’re famous for something called “cheese chips,” which are exactly what they sound like: a plate of tortillas chips underneath a blanket of broiled white cheese, like something you’d make in college at 2am with an empty fridge. But wow, if it doesn’t hit the spot with a tall Cadillac margarita on the rocks. After you’ve polished off your last round of chips and admired the retro faux-abode decor, order the Leo’s excellent chile con carne (red or green), which comes with fluffy rice and creamy refried beans that don’t taste like an afterthought." - Garrett Snyder
A colorful collection of Mexican dishes that are sure to keep you coming back for more.
Clean environment inside and out.
Good atmosphere and the staff wasn't bad either.
Yet another Mexican restaurant in Los Angeles to recommend you to try out while in the area.

Really fast service. We got in right away and the food came very fast. The food was Ok, very large portions and could not eat it all. The atmosphere was great, food was good, but the portions were just too big.

We have been loyal customers of Leo's for a long time, my husband for over 2 decades and me like 13 years. We went today as it is the last day they were open. We were so sad to hear the news. Leo's was great atmosphere, good Mexican food and great attention. Hope they stay open or reopen again. We will miss you Leo's !

While the staff is very welcoming. I couldn't help but to notice that just becuase a person comes in alone they assume its to go or pick up. I tryed thier green chile burrito....
It was hot and fast, but a bit bland in flavor.
The salsa was water down and it taste more like store bought. I had to ask for Tapatio and waited awhile because the staff was only 3. The table across from me went to look for some one to take there order.as for there Michelada well lets just say it was flavorless. Nice place but needs a bit more mexican and a little less American.
