Lowkey Burritos Review - Long Beach - Los Angeles - The Infatuation

"What you'll find at , a weekly pop-up operating in Long Beach, stands out from the usual breakfast burrito crowd. You can order these big bundles with protein options like smoked brisket or grilled marinated tri-tip, packed alongside scrambled eggs, grilled vegetables, and hash browns. Oh, and each burrito comes with a crispy layer of griddled cheese and jalapeño on the outside, a genius addition that takes these burritos to the next level." - Garrett Snyder

Head to Leo's for the best Taco Tuesday deal in town! This place never disappoints and the service is pretty quick! (considering how busy they get for lunch) You can choose from all the traditional options like chicken, carne asada, al pastor, carnitas for street taco style. Or try the fried potato taco to mix things up. My current favorite is the fish taco, which is served with pico, lettuce and spicy mayo. Regardless of the preference, these tacos are $1.75 on Tuesdays (and Fridays). I also grabbed an order of chips and salsa for $1. They have a fresh salsa bar with all the accoutrements including 4 different salsa varieties, limes, onions, cilantro and marinated veggies. I have also swooped in on non-taco days for breakfast burritos which are also super delicious. I do wish this place had margaritas, but I'm not going to deduct a star for that. Edit: shout out to Ashley who takes all the orders and never gets it wrong!

Google
Stopped in while on vacation. Got their tacos for 1.75$ each which runs on Tuesday and Fridays. Overall the food was good, slightly dry but had good flavor. Their salsa bar had 3 different salads and a variety of other selections. 1.75$ draft beers are bud light only ans come in a paper cup vs a mug but overall was about 1 beers worth of liquid. Almost no foam head either. Definitely would recommend coming in for their tacos. Not sure about the rest of the menu.

Jeremy Yowell

Google
Leo's was an intimate lunch with above average Mexican fare. The chips and salsa were very tasty, but I didn't adore my quesadilla. Our nachos were tasty however.

Max Powers

Google
Great place for Taco Tuesday and Friday, $1.75 tacos all day! That deal makes this place a real taco company! The breakfast burritos are awesome too! You might occasionally have leftover tacos. Soft corn tortillas warmup nicely in a 400° oven for about 12 minute of cooking time. Wrap the tacos in foil and let them bake. got tacos?

Google
Been coming here for almost 7 years now. The food quality has always been great, consistent and well priced. You won't find a better breakfast burrito for the price in the downtown area. Also a huge fan of their tacos and I enjoy it with a cold Modelo!

Sean “Seanwiches”

Google
Just stopped in for taco Tuesday and a couple burritos, they were so good!! From the chips and salsa to the California burritos, everything tasted amazing. I’ll definitely be back!

Melanie Rivas

Google
I called ahead and made a lunch order for 8 people at work. Very reasonably priced, take advantage of taco Tuesdays and Fridays! Their grilled fish and potato tacos are amazing.

M Berg

Google
Ordering off the mexi-lite menu was a great choice for lunch. Everything tasted fresh. It was filling and not too heavy. Prices were reasonable, but the grilled chicken bowl seemed more worth the money than the veggie fajita bowl.

Yelp
Update: they have coffee now! Hooray! This is my go-to for Mexican food in DTLB. It's so, so good.

Yelp
I heard about Leo's from numerous people and was delighted at the service and food. A great menu and inviting place. Super casual but excellent friendly service. I can see why it's a local favorite. I had the taco salad and my friend ordered a birreria taco, carne asada fries AND a burrito. My salad was great. Fresh fresh fresh! The birreria meat was fantastic. Took a few fries and was delighted! I'll be back!

Yelp
My coworkers and I come here a lot and love their Tuesday and Friday deals! I stick to soft and crispy style tacos with potato, carnitas, or carne asada -- you can never go wrong! For my fellow picky eaters, some meats do have some other food items mixed in, so you should definitely inquire. They had a decent beer selection too, maybe next time I can grab a photo... Every time I come here, the restaurant is fairly busy, but they move quickly. I typically get my tacos within 10 minutes! Summary: great prices for filling tacos! Great beer prices and quick service!
google avatar

Ronald V.

Yelp
Very good tacos and a decent price during their taco Friday deal, the servers were nice and quick and made sure to tell us what kind of meats they had. They also made sure we got condiments like salsa and lime before we left. Good vibes overall, will be coming coming back whenever we're around downtown Long Beach.

Yelp
Food tastes authentic and home made! I got the enchiladas and was not disappointed. I also had a bit of the carne asada plate, very good as well.

Yelp
If I'm eating Mexican fare, I want it authentic, not some Americanized chain. So when I saw local workers lining up in Leo's, I knew I had to try it. The restaurant is clean and pleasantly dated, with a heavy wood counter, wood chairs and tables. The service is immediate and friendly. I was craving nachos, so I got an order with Carne asada. I've never had nachos this good. The chips and guacamole are made in house, and they're amazing. My dish had beans, peppers, onion, sour cream and plenty of tender Carne asada. The portion was huge! There is also a nice salsa bar with fresh, house-made salsas, onion, carrot, jalapeño, cilantro and limes. Everything you need to make awesome nachos out of this world! If you want authentic Mexican food, you absolutely must try Leo's!
google avatar

Yelp
Bad energy, descent food. They charge you 50'cents for a refill... who does this? I tipped them $4 to make a point that it isn't about the money, but about the customer experience. The owner didn't seem to care that I expresses my thoughts. Most likely never coming here again. Also just noticed some comments about racism? Hmmm
google avatar

Yelp
Ok place for lunch or a cheap meal. I usually grab their tacos and breakfast burritos. I like their breakfast burritos the most they load it with a fair amount of meat and other ingredients. Taco are whatever for their special day price they will do but not the most tastiest or meat quality. The workers are friendly and making ordering a breeze.

Yelp
After craving a California burrito for sooo long with no places near me to satisfy this craving, I thought I had luck finding this place! We went to the aquarium and needed to refuel before heading home. The service was great, the girl at the counter was extremely friendly and fun to talk to. The burrito on the other hand just did not hit the way I wanted it to :( it was soooo bland and dry. Even after adding their salsa, lime, and onion it was still so bland ! The salsa didn't have any spice either :/. Also, the burrito was made with guac on one side and sour cream on the other which was interesting cus you just kinda have a single bite with either and then the rest of the burrito has none.

Damion M.

Yelp
Felt very unwelcome as a black customer. Hispanic customer comes in 15 mins after me and got his food the same time as me even though he ordered 2 burritos to my one.. smh This is becoming too typical of long beach restaurants of this nature besides the big chain stores like El Torrito.. I know when I'm not wanted, and I will never go back!!
google avatar

Erin S.

Yelp
First time there ordered breakfast burrito for $7 and some change. Didn't expect much for the price w/shredded beef & it was awsome and the salsa was good not watery. Very friendly service.Hot & put together the right way! I'll definitely be back to try something else

Sheena K.

Yelp
Great place for quick easy eats at an affordable price. Staff is very friendly as well.

Rubi R.

Yelp
Terrible experience, i walked a total of 1 hour to get a burrito just to get there and their machine not to work, the lady didn't even try to help usually restaurants have Zelle. As if it wasn't terrible enough there's yt ppl outside chain smoking cigarettes
google avatar

Veronica A.

Yelp
A hidden gem! They prepare their homemade chips fresh every day! The salsa bar provides garden-fresh varieties. You can sense the love coming out of their kitchen and all throughout their staff. Their chill atmosphere makes it inviting to all. They have delicious daily specials that keep me coming back for more!
google avatar

Ian M.

Yelp
Pretty average food here. I came here on the recommendation of a neighbor who said they have the best crisp tacos. They do not have the best crisp tacos ): The quesadilla was good, but that's a hard item to get wrong. The tacos were good, but not anything special. The salsa was good. Seems like a place more for bar vibes, but there are definitely better Mexican restaurants nearby. For a better crispy taco (not nearby) I would recommend Pancho's on Anaheim.

Tamra G.

Yelp
Good basic Mexican food. I do like their veggie breakfast burritos. Wish they would extend their hours to pre-covid.
google avatar

Wayne H.

Yelp
This is a pretty limited review because I only had their chorizo and egg breakfast burrito. I'm not sure if the special is new, but you can get any breakfast burrito for $6.50 before 10am, which is $2.45 off the menu price. The burrito was okay, especially for the price. My only complaints are that there were tons of huge chunks of potato and the chorizo grease leaked everywhere, making it a pretty messy affair. The salsa bar is amazing though and the only reason this is 4 stars vs 3. The spicy red salsa is insanely delicious. I will come back just for the salsa :)
google avatar

Aaron V.

Yelp
Honestly the picture doesn't do it justice. This burrito is the perfect size for a quick bite before or during work. It isn't a MASSIVE burrito but it definitely does the job and the eggs, bacon, and potatoes were cooked to perfection. They have a couple good choices for salsa as well!
google avatar

Kaya E.

Yelp
Great local Mexican restaurant! Fast service and the food is good. I mostly come for their 5.50 breakfast burritos before 10 am. They're a great size, very filling, taste great, and hot. They have soft, slightly mashed potatoes, chopped up bacon and an egg option that I like. Best affordable breakfast burrito I've had in this area.
google avatar

Rachel S.

Yelp
Service - on point Food - even better I had one crispy chicken taco combo, my husband had 2 chicken soft tacos and a side of fries. All delish......! I spilled beans on my shirt and the waitress handed me a wet clean towel. We sat outside in the sun and this place gave off good vibes. We will definitely be back next Long Beach Grand Prix and again after that!
google avatar

Yelp
I work down the street from Leo's and we love the food here. Today we all got nachos and they did not disappoint. I always buy their asada tacos. They have really good fresh salsas before covid they had a salsa bar. The staff is always friendly and they do have out door seating.
google avatar

Derrick R.

Yelp
Very unassuming place near the Promenade, but their food is really GOOD!! The chipotle shrimp burrito is bussin!'
google avatar

Karma A.

Yelp
Shrimp burrito. Salsas. Fire.....................delicious really enjoyed. Will return
google avatar

Esther J. C.

Yelp
The fish tacos were yummy! So was the Jamaica juice. Parking sucks but this is a cute location to grab a quick bite to eat or hang out with some friends or coworkers! I gotta come back and try more food and then write more later! To be continued... lol!
google avatar

Susan C.

Yelp
Decent food at a good price near the office. Tried their steak taco bowl, would order again but without the cream.
google avatar

Monica L.

Yelp
Had the California burrito from Leo's. It's your average burrito wrapped with a nice serving of fries. Can't argue California love for fries. This was actually my first time having a California burrito although I've seen it plenty of times on menus of other Mexican food establishments. Their asada is done right! Nice juicy flavor with a hint of char. Their beans are good, too. Flavorful and not too salty.

Yelp
I've been here before, maybe a year and a half or two years ago .. somewhere in there, had beer and tacos and it was awesome! Felt like tacos today and remembered this spot so we walked over there. It's a super cute place, very clean, super friendly staff. I decided on chicken nachos instead and my boyfriend got a ground beef burrito. Cost was awesome, only like $20 for both. Food came out fast, within 5 minutes. Probably too fast actually .. My boyfriend didn't love the burrito. Said it was very dry. Nachos are probably my favorite food - I'm sad to say this but they were terrible soggy right off the bat like they'd been made 30 minutes ago. The chicken was hard and old and had so much of that bone/cartilage stuff in it that I just avoided the chicken at all costs. The beans on the nachos were good, but there was WAY too many of them. Probably what made the nachos soggy. Hardly any cheese, and that's the best part. The salsa bar did have some of the best salsa of my life though so that's a plus. 3 stars because I remember those tacos being incredible. Maybe just the nachos are bad .. I don't know. I'll go back again, give it another try because of my prior experience. But not for nachos!
google avatar

Mike F.

Yelp
Breakfast Burritos are on point, no better deal in town for the price especially if you go between 8am and 10am. Great vibe and the staff is friendly and fast, they're always very kind to me and my pup when we stop by. My favorite is the chorizo breakfast burrito.
google avatar

Ray H.

Yelp
The place is good. I was driving around looking for some good steak nachos and wanted to try this place. I remember coming here a couple of years ago and the carne asada plate was very good! Good enough to keep me coming back every weekend. I know now there is no outside seating or anything due to this covid. Pictures were from a month ago. Anyways the nachos were just ok. I can't really find a good place that has good steak nachos around long beach sadly. They have pretty good salsas and a pretty big variety of beers. Cool little place!
google avatar

Max S.

Yelp
Hey, taco Tuesdays & Friday's, all day long! They cost $1.50 each, either soft or hard shell. I ordered 2 soft tacos, and a basket of tortilla chips that cost $1.00. The flour tortilla shells are nice and thin. They taste better than the tacos down the street. My only complaint was that my order got lost in the shuffle, so I had to go and ask them what happened to my order in the back. This is definitely a casual atmosphere. Be prepared for a line nearly out the door. They have a salsa bar with the smallest condiment containers. They really need to get some larger containers because there is "traffic" at the condiment station. Only two people can get their condiments at a time, which include 3 different types of salsa, cilantro, and onions.
google avatar

Danny L.

Yelp
This little downtown gem has the best prices, incredibly good food and they even serve beer! There is a 3 table outdoor patio, but come prepared with your mask. Some of the local flavor" I.e. the homeless have approached with predictions of my doom should I not follow their creed, getting way too close for comfort. BUT I digress. The Cali Burrito is my favorite, but the shrimp enchiladas a la diablo are PERFECTLY HOT! Get a side of guacamole, you will not be sorry! If you are ordering for pickup, don't stall. They had my last pickup order ready in 8 minutes! Bring AND WEAR a mask. You can't come in without one
google avatar

Amanda N.

Yelp
Let's be real, this place doesn't taste authentic at all and you could clearly tell by the certain items on their menu. With the location, I could tell their trying to cater to the majority of the crowd that's around the area. The food was alright, wasn't terrible but not worth going back. Their food was very bland, nothing savory, and their tacos we're dry with no salsa. The carne asada fries tasted like something you could get a Denny's lol but their burritos were packing so I guess that was okay All in all, it wasn't great. Funky stomach after eating here too. There's so much more wonderful places to visit and eat in Long Beach.
google avatar

Shane D.

Yelp
Right-priced, no-frills Mexican fare, great for a budget lunch downtown. Good tacos, breakfast burritos, and other fan favorites
google avatar

Mary Anne P.

Yelp
Love this place, the food, beer and service. Just know that this location closes at 3 pm on weekdays. Not sure what their hours are on the weekend.
google avatar

Anthony L.

Yelp
Went for breakfast was told the food we good, ordered the chorizo and eggs chorizo was burnt the beans taste like it came from can and the rice was cold, but even worse do you go to breakfast and they don't serve coffee will not attend this restaurant again and definitely will not be recommending this place
google avatar

Javon G.

Yelp
Ordered my food through Postmates and literally took 45 mins to get my breakfast burrito. Place was unorganized and the ladies at the front were rude when I asked about my order. Definitely will not be coming back.
google avatar

Roland C.

Yelp
Looks like a little hoLe in the wall joint compared to everything else going on in that area. This was the main reason we walked inside. I cant say that I was expecting it to be as big as it was but it could hold a fair amount oof people.. they also had a bar area if you were looking for drinks as well. You can't ask for a whole lot more when it comes to pricing. You get a fair amount of food for the orice you pay. Big reason for scoring would be there is a .50 charge for refills. I dont carry cash because of many reasons but I didn't have change so I went thirsty the rest of the night. Even if they offered one free refill that would have been fine. I would say to come check it out as the nachos were bomb but make sure to bring change for refills
google avatar

Isabella W.

Yelp
Doesn't look like much when you walk past, but I had looked up some other Yelp reviews so I was excited to try. We were greeted by a very friendly face and were welcomed in! It is not a traditional sit-down restaurant, you order first before sitting down, but that worked great because the service was so speedy. I order fajitas and my friend got a burrito. AMAZING! The fajitas came sizzling and the burrito had a heavy hand of cheese on top. We shared salsa and some of the best GUAC I've had. The salsa was set out to take as needed, which I loved because we got plenty of refills. They have some outdoor seating but we chose indoor. Absolutely great find! Would recommend
google avatar

Yelp
I always come here for a quick bite Prices are cheap and food is great ! Can't beat that
google avatar

Kevin Z.

Yelp
This was our second stop on our beer and taco crawl. Prior to walking in, we were greeted w/ a chalkboard sign that said $1.50 beer & $1.50 tacos. Yes! I knew about these deals, but I thought they were on a different day. SCORE! The staff was very friendly. Food came out quick. The tacos are small, street taco style. Enjoyed the flavor of the fish taco which was tilapia. The beers are smaller than a solo cup, but still, two of those is a full beer, that's only $3! All happy campers in the crew. We spent less money and more time here than stop number one. Def enjoyed our experience. Sadly OUR Leo wasn't able to walk away w/ a t-shirt as they don't have shirts for sale. Enjoy the good!

Yelp
Passed by here many times until I finally stopped by for a family breakfast. Breakfast burritos and French toast were delicious. Definitely stopping by again.

Yelp
This business has been around for a while. Most of friends like it. I tried during the Pandemic when we had stay at home orders. The food was cold. I dont blame the restaraunt for a cold delivery but the food also lacked flavor. I gave them a second chance and ate inside when the government restrictions were uploaded. The food was cold agai and didnt taste good. They were also understaffed and there was long waitb as result.
google avatar

Arash B.

Yelp
This place is flawless. Choices, price, Sazon. So many salsa. Despite a massive downfall (limited hours) I'm giving it a 5 star cause it's bomb af
google avatar

Gilbert C.

Yelp
Decent food for a great price. You can't go wrong with the breakfast burritos or tacos.
google avatar

Chanel L.

Yelp
Still my go to for Mexican food. Cheese enchiladas are good and don't taste like Americanized enchiladas. They're still giving out the free chips/salsa :D Update on parking, download the "Passport App" so you can pay for the street parking there & add more time through your phone. It notifies you when your time is going to run out & u can easily add more. It's actually pretty sweet

Toni G.

Yelp
I haven't been to this restaurant for a while. But I always remembered they had great crunchy chicken tacos. Well I decided to stop in and enjoy some for lunch. Unfortunately, I was disappointed. Customer service was mid and my food was cold. When I let one of the ladies know my food was cold. She asked what did I want her to do? She asked if I wanted her to put it under the warmer. So she did. Unfortunately my food still wasn't good. I would not recommend.
google avatar

Steph H.

Yelp
STEPH JUDGEMENT: Serviceable Mexican fare in a clean, no-frills environment. This is definitely a step above hole-in-the-wall, but you can't call it fancy. That said, they have all the familiar favorites whether you want to dine in (their dining room is surprisingly spacious) or get it to go. I've done both and everything's been perfectly fine. They have a salsa bar with some pretty good salsa, also. It's a reliable stop for comfort Mexican food in the area.
google avatar

Maria P.

Yelp
Long Beach (downtown) doesn't have any Mexican food small places. But when you have Leo's there's no need to go anywhere else. Their food is sooooooo good! I recommend their chicken taquitos. Their hard shell chicken tacos are also amazing! This place beats any food truck in the area and the Mexican food places in downtown. It's small and low key. So if you are hungry and just need something to eat without the extra, Leo's is the place. Great tasting Mexican food! I could eat here everyday.
