Leo's Taco Truck - Review - Sunset - San Francisco - The Infatuation

"A trip to Leo’s is about al pastor. It’s easily the best thing from this LA taco truck transplant on the Great Highway, the only place outside of SoCal where you can experience their famed flame-roasted meats. Every thin slice carved from the spit is crisp-edged and at its best inside of a taco, complete with a hunk of pineapple. Even the staunchest Sunset Dunes adversaries should get here for a plate (or four). Other hits to zero in on: the California burrito stuffed with a generous handful of fries, and the alambre hawaiano with charred onions and pineapple. Walk your order a few hundred feet to the Pacific, and breathe in the sweet, sweet smells of West Coast supremacy. Just know that the hours are inconsistent, so follow along on Instagram for updates. video credit: Julia Chen photo credit: Monica Lo photo credit: Monica Lo Pause Unmute Food Rundown Al Pastor Tacos The holy grail. A trip here doesn’t count without at least one plate (three tacos) of these. photo credit: Monica Lo California Burrito This fry-filled burrito is a massive specimen that could last for at least two meals. Best ordered with al pastor (obviously), post-OB bonfire, at 10pm. photo credit: Monica Lo Alambre Hawaiano One of the best dishes on the menu. It’s huge and served with a foil-wrapped pack of tortillas, so you can DIY a few more tacos. PlayMute video credit: Julia Chen Quesadilla Basic, yes, but extremely satisfying. Slather on the crema. Carne Asada A little dry. But by this point you should know that you’re not at Leo’s for the carne asada." - Julia Chen

Google
Delicious carne asada tacos and Al pastor sopes, but I believe the hype set the bar too high for value, taste and serving sizes. Each taco was $3 and are relatively small. Toppings like salsas, onion, cilantro and radish are provided on the sides. Sopes are incredibly expensive for their size at $7.50. $5 would have been a better price. Suspiciously there are no prices on the menu. Fast and friendly service. Overall this is a welcome addition to the Outer Sunset, but we aren’t going out of our way to come back again.

This place is legendary in Los Angeles, and for good reason. The food at this location is just as good. Parking - there is a small lot that was about 30% full on a Saturday at 2 PM. Maybe it gets more crowded as weather improves in summer. Tacos - you must try the al pastor. They are different from al pastor throughout the city, with each taco served with pineapple. The suadero was good too, but it can be a bit fatty. Tacos are $3 but some meats are $4 (e.g., lengua). Huarache - the bottom is a masa that is similar to a thicker tortilla but thinner than a sope. Toppings were great, like a sope or gordita. This was $14.

Finally got to try Leo's 🔥 and it was worth the wait! Al pastor, carne asada, carnitas tacos were richly flavored and so satisfying on an empty stomach. They do not come dressed so be sure to request your choice of sauce and accoutrements. Red and green sauces add just the right amount of heat and acid. Glad they're settling into this Great Highway location. Will definitely be back. I'm sure the weekend lines will be busy, so if you don't want to wait, stop by on a weekday early afternoon, except for Mondays when they're closed.

Google
A fantastic taco truck with a surprising variety of options. It was almost difficult selecting what I wanted because of all the options. I decided to try the recommended taco al pastor. Looking into the truck it is very impressive what they have set up. Their kitchen is very authentic looking and the food that comes out of it shows the care and preparation they put into it. It was very flavorful and the corn tortillas were top quality. I decided to also get something a little more fusion so I ordered the California burrito as well. It was extremely flavorful. I would definitely order it again. The service was very friendly and fairly fast. I asked a couple questions to the cashier and she generously answered them and took my order with a smile. There were a lot of people ordering, but I still got my food within 10 to 15 minutes. The atmosphere is a parking lot. Not sure what more can be expected. They do have several steel tables set up to eat at, which is very nice. Although, I would not recommend eating there on a windy day seeing as it's right next to the beach. That being said, a high quality taco truck right next to the beach isn't an amazing concept. I highly recommend trying this place.

Google
Great taco truck by the beach. Pastor meat was very tasty. I just wish the salsa could be a bit spicy. Also no pricing on the menu.

Google
Leo’s did not come to SF to play around. Their location on Labrea is the best al pastor I’ve had in LA and this location might be even better. Al pastor off the trompo is just perfect.

Google
I’ve been waiting for Leo’s since I moved to the bay around 10 years ago. It’s an absolute dream that they have a presence in the Bay Area. Great al pastor! The other meats are also great. Would definitely make the drive up. They take cards/Apple Pay

Google
Meh. There are much better tacos in the city. Was hoping this would be mind blowing but ended up underwhelmed. Ordered 2 al pastor tacos, 1 cabeza taco, and 1 vampire al pastor. The taco tortillas weren’t warm, the meat was already room temp and pretty dry. Crispy tortillas on the vampiro were nice and pairs well with the al pastor, but not worthy of a trip to try out or get again. The nice part is they offer grilled onions, cilantro, raw onions, and all the salsas you want. Bad part is you can’t really eat at that location because no tables and the wind is untenable next to ocean beach.

Yelp
"Spectacular give me 14 (tacos) right now!" We tried their tacos (al pastor), carna asada fries, Gordita, tostado, and pina agua Fresca -- all of this for $49, kinda pricey! Asada fries - $15, DELICIOUS! My fave dish here Tacos - $6 for 2. Also delicious. Love the simplicity Gordita - $8.50, it was ok Tostada- $9, it was ok Pina Agua Fresca - $6, tasty but too sweet Next time I will just get tacos and carne asada fries!

Yelp
Located by a motel 6 on highway 1 near Golden Gate Park and Ocean Beach. There was quite a line the day I went because Outside Lands was happening at GGP. We also got approached by a crazy lady who was screaming random things at us :(( the food came out pretty quick though All the tacos were pretty tasty. I got asada and al pastor (they were out of carnitas post OSL). They give tons of onion+cilantro mix and 4 different kinds of salsas. The asada was pretty tender and juicy. The al pastor was also pretty yummy with plenty of flavour and even sliced pineapple pieces.

Yelp
A solid spot for tacos in the sunset! Heard from a friend this truck is from LA so was excited to try it. No wait on a weekday at 1:30pm which is a plus! We had the taco's al pastor-- it was juicy and flavorful. I really liked the pineapple added because it adds a nice acidity. The cabeza was super tender but not as flavorful as I was hoping. The quesadilla Hawaiana was super stuffed! It had the al pastor meat, ham, and pineapples. Interesting combo.. next time I'd get the quesadilla al pastor. Super fast service. Expect to stand at their metal tables or take it to the beach to enjoy!

Yelp
Well that didn't go as expected. I heard really great things about this truck, coming from LA, etc etc. We finally were in the area and decided to stop by and try a taco! YOLO. Usually there's a line, but it was okay this time. We ordered 2 al pastor tacos and 2 carne asada burritos for dinner. Tacos-.....the al pastor were like sliced cha siu. LOL sure they're pretty generous with toppings and salsa....but it was MEH. Burritos - they were okay, nothing to be wowed about. So we were disappointed, and glad we tried it, but there are better places around for sure.

Yelp
Finally they are in SF! I loved their tacos in LA. Abundant free parking around where they parked. Hit or miss about the parking lot they are in honestly as some reviewers said they were told to move but I saw a few people park in the lot haha. The menu- English names/associations on the left and the right column is the Spanish name haha. I liked my Al pastor taco with the good pineapple chunk. The piña/pineapple drink was very tasty too! Good amount of salsa, cilantro, lime, radish and grilled jalapeños/onions! This truck had their little metal shelves set up as tables around the truck- which was very nice!

Yelp
Yum yum yum! Absolutely delicious authentic Mexican tacos. Located on Great Highway. Perfect place to stop to get food and go to the beach or to the park. We ordered (2) asada tacos and (2) al pastor. Both were amazing but we loved the Al pastor tacos -- so flavorful and the thinly sliced pineapple was just the cherry on top. Really looking forward to going back and ordering more on the menu!

Yelp
The Fabled, The Legendary Leooooooooooooooo's has entered the ring as a top contestador. Arriving from an exotic land full of sun - LA, they have established a solid foothold in the sandy, wind-shredded dunes of the West Side of SF. Sundry visitors converge upon this bright beacon of hope and food as all roads lead to Leo's, well, especially closer to 11 pm when nothing else is open. Then through the chattering teeth from the bitter cold that penetrates the bones and the howling winds tearing through the nearby stands of trees, the lady at the front welcomes me with a bright smile and "hi!" :-) That truck seems cozy as the wolves encircle this truck in search of food. I order a feast fit for heroes who have traversed the treacherous wastelands dotted with construction work, unmarked mounds, ancient potholes, and speed traps, or just sand dunes, for the holy grail of tacos. Your bus or rideshare chauffeur deserves a toast or tip. Indeed, the feast did not disappoint. The al pastor was epic and tender. The burrito was good, and the tacos were excellent for a meal near midnight. They were still super busy at closing time 11 pm and seemed fine with it - whew! Of the other meats, I prefer the carne asada over the suadero. Hmm, it would be nice to have the prices shown on the side of the truck too, but I was able to see it on the order screen. Other than that, the tacos did look exactly as pictured by other customers - a bit smaller than some LA or SD tacos I remember. But overall, it did have the nostalgic taste and feel that was so good for a late night snack in the heart of LA. Perhaps it was close to closing time, and they were running out of meat while a lot of people were still ordering. I'll still come back definitely to try the other items like the vampiro or alambres - ah, with more meat!

Yelp
Leo's was recommended to me by several sources for their al pastor tacos, so I had to give them a try. The truck is conveniently located near Ocean Beach in a lot; it was foggy that day so we didn't have an issue finding parking. There aren't any prices listed on the menu, but five tacos came out to around $17, which isn't bad. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to the hype. I don't usually order al pastor, but I've had enough to know when it's good, and this wasn't it. The meat was dry and a bit tough, even after adding the onions, cilantro, and salsa that come on the side. The pineapple was inconsistent as well, one taco had a super thin sliver, while others had a thicker slice. I also tried the tripa and cabeza tacos. I'm picky about tripa (I like it crispy), and despite the lady asking if I wanted it crispy, it was still too soft and lacked the right texture. The cabeza was forgettable. Overall, it was a letdown for a place known for having the "best al pastor." But if I'm ever at Ocean Beach on a nice day and craving tacos, Leo's is convenient and would probably still satisfy my craving.

Yelp
I'm so glad this LA based taco truck finally expanded to SF! Leo's is known for its al pastor tacos, which did not disappoint. I also tried a carne asada quesadilla here. The carne asada was tasty but not as flavorful as the al pastor. I'll probably go with all al pastor items next time. This is now my favorite spot for al pastor in the city. Since this is a food truck, all orders are put into to-go boxes and bagged. You also get tons of different salsas, onions and cilantro, radishes, and lime in your to-go bag. The only downside about this place is the location. Not only is this located so far out in the Outer Sunset, but there's also not really any place to sit down and eat. So we just sat on the street next to a curb.

Yelp
Yay!!!!!! Okay let's start with location... great with free parking lots of sand and can be windy since it is outside prepare for any weather it's worth it Staff is very nice and welcoming I love their tacos de asada and al pastor great portion and fresh delicious salsa We also order cheesy carne asada fries sooo good with yellow cheese white cheese asada And you can add your choice of salsa Over all 5 stars delicious I can't wait to come back

Yelp
Had to checkout this LA taco truck near the Great Highway! It's right by the motel 6 in a parking lot. There's no seating but the great highway park and Ocean Beach is right there. The menu doesn't have prices but it's very affordable and they accept card/tap payments. They're known for their al pastor so I got some tacos and a torta. The tacos were only $3 each! They have 4 different salsas and give you limes and onions/cilantro in a baggy. The tacos were great, especially for the value. The torta was okay but I wouldn't get it again. I would come back for the tacos and to try a burrito!

Yelp
Came back about a month later for my second visit. Coincidentally, it ended up being on another Thursday. I arrived around 2PM, and there was just one person ahead of me in line. I decided to stick with the Al Pastor burrito since I really liked it the first time and didn't want to risk being disappointed while hungry. Sadly, even with the shorter wait, the burrito didn't hit the same. There was no pineapple like last time to give it that sweet balance, the meat was a lot tougher and no char on the meat. Overall, it just wasn't as enjoyable and satisfying. Pretty disappointing how inconsistent their food is. They should really see who does well in what area of the food truck and stick with it. Also the burrito is now $13, not $12.

Yelp
Flakier than dandruff. The "best" tacos in LA is now in Frisco?!   In 2010, four brothers started Leo's Tacos (truck) in LA and has grown to 12 locations across the city of angels. Their SF location is their 13th taco truck, located at Motel 6 (don't park at their lot, an employee will come out and tell you to move your car).   LA's most popular taco truck *finally* officially opened in the city yesterday....   They're brand new and things/emergencies happen but they seem very flaky and aren't respectful of customers' time and gas. Another customer told me, she's tried coming 4 times and they weren't there. They seem to arrive and leave when they want to which is fine but at least post on IG so customers aren't left in the dark. Since I had the afternoon off on 4/11 and nothing better to do, we trekked 30 minutes across the city (FYI, Great Highway is closed to cars now so expect traffic). Yay for Leo's Tacos arriving BUT they were over 2 hours late with no heads. And, we had to wait an additional 40 minutes for them to actually open. No outdoor tables for seating. M E N U Specialty: Al Pastor, marinated pork prepared on el trompo (vertical spit). Other proteins: asada, pollo, buche (pig intestine), suadero (like brisket), cabeza (beef head), lengua (beef tongue), carnitas, and tripas (beef intestines). Choose your style: Taco, burrito, quesadilla, tostada, papas (fries), nachos, sope (fried masa base), torta, and more.     There are no prices on their menu. The cashier said, tacos are $3 each but charged me $4 each for the lengua and tripas. CC's accepted.   T A C O S ($3-$4 each) Each taco comes with double corn tortillas (commercial) and your protein of choice. Diced onions + cilantro provided in a baggie. You can request limes, pickled onions, cucumbers, and radishes. They have salsa roja and salsa verde (avocado based).   * Al Pastor: Marinated Pork x4 SO disappointing after the long wait. The al pastor looked and tasted like it was cooked a la plancha, not on el trompo. Dry and bland with no crispy caramelized edges. It wasn't even topped with pineapple. These look nothing like the ones in LA. Good thing Al Pastor Papi is opening their first brick and mortar this summer in the city!   * Cabeza: Beef head Beefy and soft but bland.   * Lengua: Beef tongue Decent but also bland. I prefer my lengua meltingly tender.   * Tripas: Beef intestines The intestinal tubes were gritty and chewy/soggy. No crispy bits.   * Asada: Beef - Didn't try. * Carnitas: Braised Pork - Didn't try. S E R V I C E There's one cashier and three guys preparing the food. After ordering, it took 10 minutes for our tacos. P A R K I N G Easy free street parking across Motel 6.   Overall, I initially *thought* Leo's Tacos would be a welcome addition to Outer Sunset since the great Mexican spots are at the other side of the city in The Mission/Outer Mission area (where I live near). I'm trying to give them grace for being new but a 3 hour wait for bland, mid tacos, no/poor communication on IG, being flaky/late, and not even apologizing or thanking customers for waiting hours for them is not cool. Hope they get it together!

Yelp
We were excited to try Leo's Tacos at Ocean Beach after hearing so much about their LA trucks. Unfortunately, the SF experience left us disappointed. We ordered an al pastor taco, a suadero taco, a carnitas tostada, and an al pastor vampiro. The tacos were small and lightly filled--barely any meat for $3 each. The tostada and vampiro were $9 each but didn't feel worth the price. The carnitas on the tostada lacked flavor and texture, and the vampiro wasn't what we expected--it came sandwiched between two tostadas instead of the usual toasted tortilla with melted cheese. We also suspect the suadero taco wasn't actually suadero; it looked and tasted like pork. The tacos came plain with no fixings like onions or cilantro (though we did receive salsa). We had drove off before checking. The menu didn't have prices or item descriptions, which made ordering confusing. Our receipt was $32.69, but we were charged $33.51 through Apple Pay without explanation. We really wanted to like this spot because of Leo's reputation, but between the small portions, flavor, and execution issues, it fell short. Hopefully they can make improvements, but we wouldn't return based on this visit.

Yelp
We stumbled upon their food truck while at Ocean Beach. Happy to see that Leo's Tacos made its way to the Bay Area, particularly at San Francisco. Everything we ordered was absolutely delicious! Service was very quick. Of course my boyfriend and I ordered their famous Al pastor tacos. We were impressed. The meat was not tough at all. I ordered 1 carnitas taco which I feel was a bit tough. Overall, would definitely try out this place if I were you! 8.5/10.

Yelp
Delicious tacos - lengua and cabeza with onion, radishes, limes, and salsas. The alambres with al pastor, peppers, and onions is well-seasoned and full-flavored and has tortillas for tasty wraps - a hearty generous portion can be shared.
google avatar

Yelp
Hours are so inconsistent. Opening changed from 11am to 12pm. They arrived a few minutes past opening then took another 20 minutes or so to set up. One day they were an hour late. I like the al pastor the most. First time was kind of dry (2nd day of opening). I got Al pastor, carne asada, chicken and carnitas which were all dry - al pastor being least dry. The carnitas is braised so I was expecting that but it was SO dry. Al pastor was better the next 2 times I went. Partner said carnitas was good the last time she went. Pineapple pieces are sometimes a tiny sliver, barely there. No super burritos but you can add sour cream and avocado for an extra few. Burrito was ok. Sope was good. They're good, but not worth waiting in line for imo. Luckily, there's never that long of a line when I pass by.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
I'm into it. $3 a taco, fair amount of meat, they give you a salsa and a baggie of radish, onions and cilantro. Al pastor was good! Wish it was a little less fatty and the carne asada was solid. It's an idea setup if you want to take something straight to the beach and eat on the water without having to walk much.

Yelp
Walked up to the Leo's Tacos truck, which is in a lot across from the new Sunset Dunes park where the Great Highway was, at around 1pm. There was a short line of about 6 people which moved quickly, and I waited about 10 minutes for my order. They ask if you would like sauce, cilantro/onion, and radishes, and provide them prepacked in your bag with your tacos. -Lengua ($4): my go to taco meat, this was tender but nothing outstanding; the meats are also cut smaller than I'm used to. -Al Pastor ($3): this seems to be their signature, and I always love a bit of pineapple on an al pastor taco but this also didn't really stand out to me. The meat was a tad dry, and not super flavorful. -Cabeza Tacos ($3): this was definitely dry, and I wouldn't get it again. The sauces are all pretty standard: orange is spicy, the red is roasted/spicy, green is mild, and then an avocado based one. The tacos do come out not super hot, and they're a little smaller than I'm used to (in San Diego) as well. I'd say there are definitely better tacos in the city (though probably a bit more expensive per taco), and would probably choose to go elsewhere when I'm craving a taco.
google avatar

Lianna T.

Yelp
Drove past a few times and the truck wasn't there, but took another chance on Sunday evening and they were open! The menu doesn't list prices but the tacos start at $3 depending on the meat you choose. We ordered the al pastor, asada, lengua, and cabeza tacos, plus the asada fries and a pineapple juice. They were sold out of horchata for the day so I'd definitely go earlier if it's something you're looking forward to. Our to-go order came with little baggies of onions, cilantro, limes, pickled onions, radishes, and a variety of sauces. The meats were tasty but a bit on the dry side. The al pastor came with pineapple and was better with all the toppings. The workers are very friendly and the wait time is standard. I would definitely return because it's better than some spots I've had in SF and super convenient since it's close to home.

Yelp
I was so excited to hear that the infamous Leo's Tacos had finally made its way from L.A. to the Bay Area. I had it once in L.A. and it left a lasting impression, so I had to try it again. The truck was parked in a lot with plenty of parking, and luckily there was no wait when I stopped by on a Wednesday around 1 PM. The al pastor taco is a must -- full of flavor and topped with a juicy slice of pineapple. I would've liked just a bit more meat, but it still hit the spot. I also tried the lengua tostada and the vampiro. Next time, I'm going straight for the vampiro. Crispy tostadas layered with grilled cheese and meat. Incredible. One of the best parts: they give you tons of condiments. Four different salsas, grilled onions, pickled onions with habanero, fresh cilantro and chopped onions, lime wedges, and radish slices. Their horchata was also super refreshing.

Yelp
I have been going to Leo's tacos for so many years in LA! So excited they are in the Bay Area. The location is towards the end of San Francisco but it's literally in the best location next to the beach. There was plenty of parking and that's surprising for sf. You walk up there a huge menu with pictures I love that. The price is very reasonable it was $3.50 a taco. Highly recommend the pastor tacos that's what they are known for. The service is fast, price is reasonable, and you can't get a better view.

Yelp
Came on a Saturday around 12:20 with a line of about 8 people but they weren't open yet. They're still working out some kinks. We ordered the Al pastor, suadero, and tripas tacos ($3.50 ea). Heard so many good things about the Al pastor but the suadero was my favorite. Had to get their spiciest orange sauce and Loved the quality of the tortillas. The pineapple Fresca was so refreshing and a must get. Overall average for tacos but not a bad option for a late night since they're open until midnight. I'll try them again after they've been open for longer.

Yelp
Leo's presence in LA is ubiquitous; with a dozen trucks in operation, they're hard to miss. Theirs was one of the notable taco trucks we tried in our search for good al pastor sliced off the trompo, a vertical spit, in So Cal a couple years ago. We heard they were coming to SF in early April, setting up shop in the Outer Sunset at the Motel 6 parking lot, but when we showed up on opening day, the truck had already left, apparently leaving earlier than their posted hours on IG. We caught up with them a week later & have been back twice. I'm strictly a carne asada girl, while my bf is down to try all the meats. On our first visit, we ordered a variety of tacos & learned that their carne asada is absolutely horrible, as was their carnitas, with the chorizo tasting only slightly better. According to my Carnivore, the pastor was sufficiently flavorful & colored with the perfect orange tinge, signifying it's properly marinated. We also ordered Papa Rellena, but were disappointed that the pastor stuffing was cooked on the grill top, dry from perhaps sitting out a bit, rather than cut from the spit. The second visit solidified that we're probably done with Leo's Tacos at least for a while. Again, we ordered items filled with al pastor; the tacos weren't as flavorful as the first time & the mulita was so bad, he took two bites & couldn't manage to give it away to our friend (another al pastor fanatic who also didn't love Leo's.) A few pluses: friendly service, generous with the accoutrements such as grilled & raw onions, radish slices, salsas, etc., & the two drinks we tried, horchata & fresa, were excellent & sweetly flavored. Location near Ocean Beach is beautiful, but windy. We visited mid-day during the week so we never experienced a line but I hear weekends are quite busy. Sure, give 'em a go. As for us, we've given them enough chances to prove their greatness to no avail.

Yelp
Was excited to hear this place opened up. Ordered an Al Pastor burrito. It had refried? Pinto beans, rice, onions, cilantro and al pastor in a medium spicy red salsa. It had great flavor and was well mixed. Highly recommend adding some avocado green salsa to it - nice and creamy with a good acidity that paired well with the spice in the burrito. Got lime and radish on the side as well. Service was quick despite a line and people waiting. No seating onsite.

Yelp
My friend recommended this taco truck from LA. It's located right near the new Sunset Dunes park, which makes for a nice meal or snack before or after a stroll. It packs well as takeout, they put all the toppings and salsas in separate bags/containers. I asked for one of each salsa, and my favorite was the habanero. I don't really eat pork so I had the chicken taco, it was tasty and the price was reasonable for a filling meal. There aren't too many places to sit down nearby, I saw some people sit in the parking lot to enjoy their food while it's hot.

Yelp
Was excited that a Leo's Tacos was opening up in the Bay, and while I was underwhelmed I might give it another try after it's more settled. Had come on Saturday around 12:40 PM and there was no sign of them, they ended up arriving around 1:15 PM but it took them a while to start taking orders, and we finally got our food around 2:10 PM. The line definitely went by faster after they were completely set up though, so I would recommend going later in the afternoon. We got al pastor tacos, a lengua taco, and an al pastor vampiro. The tacos overall were solid for $3-$4 each but lacked flavor. The Al pastor was better but I found it a bit dry, and the lengua was bland. The vampiro comes with more toppings, but the tortilla seemed stale. The main redeeming factor was their sauces, especially the bright green one which we drenched our tacos in. I don't think I'll be making a trip specifically for Leo's anytime soon, especially since it seems like they're still figuring things out, but might stop by if I'm in the area in a few months.

Yelp
Came by last Sunday and they didn't arrive until 1:35pm! After arriving it takes them a lil while to set up and everything so I probably ordered like at 2pm smh. Tbh if u wanna eat here they're on their own time so their hours are probably not accurate. I got the al pastor tacos and the pastor was mid - not much taste/dry. The pineapple was good though. The carne asada fries were good since the carne asada was actually tasty, but I was hoping there would be more toppings like guac and pico de gallo but it's just cheese. Would I come back prolly not.

Yelp
Pluses-late night eats no fuss, I like that! Fresh ingredients, good service. Negative- the meat was dry and I was expecting more flavor. I guess I had high expectations with all the hype. I was expecting way more flavor. I would try another meats ans dishes and dish if I was looking for Kate night eats.

Yelp
Finally got to try Leo's and it was worth the wait!

Yelp
Was happy to see my favorite LA taco truck is now in San Francisco! Large parking lot with parking and walking distance from Ocean Beach. They put the cilantro/onions/radish/limes in a separate bag to put on yourself which is good for ppl who don't like cilantro. Their pineapple (piña) agua fresca was delicious and refreshing.

Yelp
Today I went to Leo's Tacos. I used to live two blocks away from the one in Hollywood, so I was very excited to hear that they were opening a location here in San Francisco. I waited a few weeks before visiting, though, because, as someone who works in the food industry, I understand that there are always kinks when a restaurant or food truck first opens: literal traffic (especially with the Great Highway being closed), sourcing quality staff and finding replacements, estimating how much to prep, trying to source the same ingredients, food delivery timelines--you name it. It's called a soft opening for a reason. I think people forget that when a restaurant first opens, there are always challenges, and things don't get fixed overnight--you need to give grace. When I read the first reviews, I was kind of sad to see that most of the complaints were about things that naturally get worked out during the beginning stages. Today, I decided to finally venture to Leo's Tacos. It was a rainy day, and I figured there would be no line--and I was right. I ordered three Al Pastor tacos and Double Meat Al Pastor nachos sin crema (no sour cream). The nachos felt like they weighed about four pounds! When you pick up your food, you have the option to add onions with cilantro, radishes, and a variety of salsas. I usually only get Al Pastor here because that's their specialty. The meat is always tender and juicy, carved right off the trompo. Service: Service was great. I had a nice chat with the cashier--it probably helped that I speak Spanish--but I really got to customize exactly how I wanted my order and also talked with them about their opening, which was fun. You can customize most items, or even mix meats, which is awesome. Food: My husband tasted his first taco and immediately exclaimed, "Wow, I missed you!" I was also so happy to have some tasty Al Pastor again. Honestly, I can't speak to the quality of the other meats, but Leo's specialty is definitely the Al Pastor. It was super tender, juicy, delicious, falling apart perfectly, with just the right balance of sweet and salty. Horchata: Fabulous! If you're like me and know you're going to slurp it down in five minutes, order it without ice--more room for horchata! Final Thoughts: Give Leo's a chance. They're working out their kinks, and it takes time for even well-established places to find their footing in a new area. And if you don't want to wait in line, go when it's raining or in the evening.

Yelp
Phenomenal food and the closest I've found to LA-style street tacos in SF. The red salsa is almost identical to King Taco's. All of the salsas were really good though and we also really enjoyed the pickled habanero that came on the side. Service was really fast and we received everything that we ordered. The staff is really friendly and even remembered us from last time. Please support this small business and help keep them open in the Sunset.

Yelp
AMAZING AL PASTOR TACOS!!! Pretty much identical to LA. The truck is posted in a nice location near the Great Highway and Golden Gate Park. Plenty of free parking available, but no seating. A little cold and windy so ate in the car, then went on a walk in Sunset Dunes afterwards. Ordered 6 al pastor tacos ($3 each) and 1 carne asada taco ($3). Waited maybe 5-10 min to receive our food. Came with 4 different types of salsa, onions & cilantro, limes, and radishes. As I said earlier, the al pastor tacos were amazing. Not dry and great flavor. The carne asada taco was also good. Will definitely be coming back multiple times in the future!

Yelp
My family and I have been hearing good things about this Taco truck from LA. Well, we pulled up on a Saturday and ordered 6 tacos; 3 carne asada, 3 al pastor and a pineapple fresca. Carne asada and al pastor were both excellent. We loved the flavor/seasoning on both. The Pineapple fresca was really good too! So good that our 8 yr old son drank 80% of it within a minute. Only complaint is that we wish the tacos were bigger. Overall, a great taco truck with tons of options. A must try if you're in the area.

Yelp
If you are by Ocean Beach, you must try! Al Pastor all the way, EVERYTHING is good here

Yelp
A place to get a small meal near ocean beach after you're done hanging out on the beach. They have your typical Mexican food (tacos, burritos, quesadillas). We ordered different tacos and got no frills tacos with some sauce and onions / cilantros and limes on the side. There's a hanging shelf on the side of the food truck where you can eat as well.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying that I really wanted to like this place... Went on a Saturday for lunch, there was a small line. The menu shows what they sell but no cost mentioned. I saw that they have the Al pastor on the spitter so wanted to see how legit it tasted. We order 2 Al pastor, 2 carne asada, 2 lengua, carnitas torta, Mexican Coke, and a large horchata. All came out to about little over $46. Pretty expensive considering how small and skimpy the meat was that came on the tacos. Especially the Al pastor! Super thin slices and barely any meat. The carne asada was chopped too much, the torta didn't have much flavor, the lengua was shredded like the carnitas. The best part was the horchata! lol They hit you with that tourist price because of how Great Highway is now a recreation area.

Yelp
Location by Ocean Beach and GG Park is perfect. Tacos are definitely their strength! Al Pastor with a slice of pineapple was my favorite. Many other meat options available. Good Jarritos variety. Good condiments. Reasonable prices I got a chicken burrito once, but I would rather go to Gordo's for that.

Yelp
The beef tacos were decent. The meat was tender but lacked seasoning. The toppings were generous and fresh. Service was fast and polite.

Yelp
Just stopped by here on my way home from work. They say they have the BEST pastor. This is a bold statement! Now as a pastor aficionado I have to say that they have very good pastor, but NOT the best. I was also disappointed when a burrito that cost $13 came only with beans and rice. We are in the city known for the Mission burrito so at that price I expect salsa, crema, guacamole, and queso. I'm sure they are better at tacos than burritos so I'll give them another shot because their pastor is pretty good.

Yelp
The way my heart sang when I first heard Leo's Tacos was coming to town! Wow! SF is so lucky! First visit I saw the trompo roasting all the al pastor goodness and I felt at home. We ordered al pastor tacos, a carne asada vampiro, Quesadilla Hawaiana. On our second visit, we ordered more al pastor tacos, a vampiro and a tosada. Everything has been so good! Food being available til late night in SF, I thiiiiink 11pm most nights! Whaaaat!? I work late and this is so convenient. Again, I feel so lucky, I feel so grateful that Leo's is on the neighborhood! LFG!

Yelp
I think I got scammed. I purchased a bunch of tacos and the lady in the truck said it was $49 and change. She gave me the receipt and I looked at the total and it did say $49 and change. They called my number and I had to give them the receipt to get the food. They kept the receipt, which I thought was weird but I didn't care. Later in the night I got a text from my credit card company and it shows I was billed $51 and change. Anybody else experience this?

Yelp
I was so excited when I heard Leo's was opening here, in the Bay! Leo's is a strict staple in my LA trips and let me tell you.... A little piece of vacation just came home! We got some Al pastor (obviously), we tried a California burrito which I'm usually not a fan of and I ate almost half of my fiancés because it was they hooked it up with salsa and they were all delicious. Bottom line, if you haven't had Leo's, you're missing out. Worth every penny. I highly recommend checking out their first truck up north!

Yelp
The al pastor tacos and salsas were delicious and tasted the same as at their LA location. The spicy, smoky, dark red salsa is my favorite. It was cold and windy outside when we went, so we ate in the car. They accept payment by credit card unlike their cash-only LA location.

Yelp
Located on the great highway where the old motel 6 was. The location is pretty windy making it a little hard to eat. It's nice that's it's close to the beach though. Service was pretty fast. I ordered the Al pastor and carnitas tacos. Tacos come with 3 sauces, radishes, onions/cilantro and limes. I would say the tacos are probably not my style of tacos as both al pastor and carnitas was a bit dry. Each taco was $3 so can't complain there.

Yelp
This spot is 10/10! They have a lot to offer on their menu and everything is delicious! I'm so happy this spot popped up and is consistently there when a burrito craving hits. Their horchata is so good, I would drink it daily if I could. Check this spot out and show them love!
