Very interesting place, crazy to be able to get a glimpse into the life of people that lived 8000 years ago. The gentleman at the ticketing dszk was very helpful, he took the time to explain the proper visiting order and give us directions. A nice touch was he did that in Romanian. The video about the history of the ancient culture helped us understand more about the museum pieces and the whole context of the site. Definetly worth a visit!

I saw this sign by chance on the road during my motorcycle ride. It was a strange experience to see that the first people of Europe lived here. There are very valuable artifacts in this museum.

One of the places that you must see if you are on a Danube tour. Well organized, with short movie projection about the process of finding this place. Nice story from the staff.

Museum worthy of European standards. It is not big, but very significant considering this is the oldest recorder civilization in Europe. All recommendations, I really enjoyed it and felt very special here.

Long wanted to visit Lepenski Vir since seeing its artefacts in the museum in Belgrade. Important place for the Vinca culture in West Balkans. If you can, also visit the Vinca Neolithic site not far away down the Danube river.

Archaeological site of Lepenski vir. About 40min drive from Golubac towards Donji Milanovac. A place you must visit when in Serbia.

Thank GOD we were in a Danube river cruise otherwise we would, on our own, never ever have reached at this so important place of great historical importance. It is located in a village Boljetin near Donji Milanovc, Serbia. This site was found by a group pf Serbian archaeologists in 1960. As they found some success initially they excavated more and more. In 1967 they informed the rest of the world about this ancient 8000 years old civilization. The population of that time was very skilled. The way they built their houses, it looked they had a great knowledge of architecture. They respected their ancestors and the way they were buried depended on their status (see pictures). There are hundreds of artefacts and well preserved human bodies which are worth seeing. Now it's a part of Derdap National Park along with Iron Gate which is recognized as UNESCO GLOBAL GEOPARK. Before entering the park we were shown a short film about this place. Luckily we had a guide who explained to us everything in detail. Not to be missed..
