Google
We looked for a nice place to have lunch when we did stay in the area for a few days. Chinon was just a 10' drive away and this place looked amazing. There's a small parking lot just below the restaurant (new adress in case Google didn't change it: 73 rue haute saint Maurice), which was very convenient. Paid by meter. We made a reservation on this weekday, which turned out smart, since the place was fully booked for lunch. Inside it's a very classy, comfy setting. There's also a pretty courtyard, but it was a rainy day. We both chose the Set Menu "M" for a very fair 48 Euros each. An excellent Amuse Bouche started the meal - a very nice seafood bisque. For the starters we chose the Foie Gras Chaud Réduction Acidulée de Vin Rosé et Cerises Pickels de Baie de Goji and the Terrine de Foie Gras au Calvados Compotée de Pomme au Vinaigre de cidre Tuiles aux Algues. Both amazing choices, especially if you're into Foie Gras like us. The hot Foie Gras was so tender, it was really melting on our tongues. Not that easy to find hot Foie anymore. And this one was divine. For mains we've had the Filet de Veau (veal) Rôti cuit a Basse Temperature Sauce Aigre Douce à la Poire et Jus de Canard Poire Pochée and the Ris de Veau Braisé (sweetbreads) au Mies Réduction de Coteau du Layon au Citron Vert Duxelle de Champignons. A very tender, juicy piece of veal. Cooked to perfection. And the Ris de Veau was the best one I've ever had. Amazing dish. Both dessert were also delicous. That's where many restaurants struggle. Not so here, the desserts were as amazing as the other dishes. Had a bottle of Crémant with the meal, which went very well with the Foie and the meat. Staff/owner were all wonderful, helpful and made us feel welcome. Welcome was also our Bulldog inside the restaurant. Food quality, execution, presentation, hospitality. All on top level. A perfect lunch experience. And fair priced as well. Surely we'll be back one day.

Google
Delicious. We didn’t have a reservation but they were able to seat us. I recommend calling ahead for a reservation. The service was typically slow but the food was delicious. They have a kids menu but you have to ask. The kids meal is sea bream with vegetables. Our daughter devoured the dish. I had the menu M with the fillet of beef wrapped in seaweed. It was scrumptious and tender.

Google
One of the three best restaurant in the city. We were lucky to get a table: warm atmosphere, family-owned business, creative food and good local wine. Two floors venue, I recommend their goat cheese, it does nit tase good alone, as the side dish is not good as well alone but together it tases fantasticaly :) I would suggest to offer a degustion menu as well, it would be nice to try all kinds of bits from everything the chef prepares

Sadly we didn't understand French, so we just ordered top 2 set menus. Every single plates were delicious!!! And everything was so reasonable including wine. We would love to go back again whenever we can.

Google
This cosy and warm French bistro restaurant really surprised us! Situated in the incredibly quaint and wonderful town Chinon, Les Années 30 is a taste experience of the highest quality! Wonderful dishes, especially the foie gras with apricots. Friendly and approachable staff, as well as the other French guests who found it very enjoyable watching a bunch of Norwegians trying to figure out what cheeses to pick from a laaarge selection for the cheese course. Highly recommended!

Google
Nice and cozy place. A bit expensive, but the place deserves five stars just because the food was delicious.

Here is the first thing I want to say. If you are in a little French town like Chinon and everyone around you, in the dinning room speaks english - that is not a good sign- then you know you are in a touristy restaurant. Dinner for 2 for 120 Euros, I expected a spectacular meal but was not impressed at all. The highlight of the meal was the cheese platter, the selections were amazing. Everything else is little overpriced and just okay. Again the money is not the issue but really wanted to eat better food. I ordered filet mignon and the salmon marine. Just okay. Do more research to find a better spot.

Yelp
We had 4-course dinner with cheese. Food was delicious, flavors impeccable and service friendly. Highly recommend this place.

Yelp
Excellent food. I would recommend that you make a reservation. Last time I had the bavette de boeuf which was excellent and my spouse had excellent magret de canard. Nice presentation. Tasty excellent fresh food and vegetables. The desserts were excellent as well. Choose a chinon wine with dinner.

Yelp
Lovely meal - came for lunch on Easter Sunday. They were able to work around my various allergies (milk, nuts, wheat, coconut) without making it awkward. Chef even came out to confirm some things. My dining companions also loved their meals. Very reasonable for quality of food & presentation.

Yelp
Thanks to a Yelper's review favouring this restaurant to another one we found this out of the way lovely lunch spot. It was my birthday so we wanted something especially nice, and boy, we were so happy. Service was attentive and professional, the food was delicious and inventive, presentation was perfect. Lots of options with fish if you don't eat meat, which we appreciated.

Yelp
One of the best meals you may ever have, anywhere. And only EUR 29 to 39 for four courses, I honestly don't know how they do it. This place may masquerade to an extent as "simple food executed well" but it's much more than that. Everything was spot-on from ingredients to preparation, to even adding touches like thinking of ways to keep your amuse bouche or ice cream bowl from sliding around on the plate which you rarely see. Preparation and textures and sauces were absolutely perfect. Unique things like the herb sorbet with my smoked salmon course and some sort of a cold, whipped goat cheese preparation on the 3rd course were amazing. And my lemon dessert was spectacular with every aspect a study in culinary perfection. Service was great and course timing was perfect, while ambience was fine though some of the tables are a bit closer than preferred. Which is why they even brought over a small table with large flowers to separate us from the table next door. Professional all the way, this place absolutely deserves a Michelin star despite being possibly being slightly on the "casual" side for Michelin. If you're near Chinon and love food, go here. No question.

Yelp
I got to town tonight, and did the restaurant "rounds". You know, trying to find a good place that isn't overrun by tourists (aka Mission Impossible). I saw good reviews on this place and I gave it a try. Damn. It's restaurants like this which remind you why we "put up" with the French: they know how to cook the hell out of some good food!! Each course was better than the last. I stayed with the fish, which was amazing. I have eaten a lot of NW salmon in my day; I'm not sure where their's came from, but it was amazing. Was it more expensive than other places in town? Yes. Was it worth it? Yes, yes, a 1000 times yes! I had so many moments while eating I almost had to take up smoking.

Yelp
What a terrific dinner we had with wonderful Chinon wine! The appetizers and desserts were our faves--and everything so beautifully presented. Service was friendly. The atmosphere was lovely. Three places to eat: terrace, downstairs dining room, upstairs dining room. All are nice--happy to be there--but my favorite was the upstairs (1st floor) dining room. One of our hoteliers told us this was the best restaurant in Chinon, and it was definitely a great experience.

Yelp
Well designed French cuisine with a modern nudge that doesn't get in the way of quality. Service was fairly efficient and timely, given their constraints (see below). Fish in particular was good. You will need to reserve for dinner in advance. The restaurant is usually completely booked. Price is EUR 30-45 per person, not including wine. Pricey for what you get. Regrettably our dining experience was marred by two of the six tables having horrifying children screaming and running around the restaurant. If I had wanted to eat at MacDonald's, I would have gone there; what are these French parents (thank God they weren't American) thinking? That the rest of us wanted to babysit their three year olds? The wait staff decided to disappear rather than deal with the situation.
