"On the doorstep of Catalans beach, this restaurant with floor-to-ceiling windows commands an idyllic view over the Bay of Marseille, between the Swimming Club and the Frioul archipelago. Philippine-born chef, Chester Tsai (who has worked all over the world for Alain Ducasse) rolls out Mediterranean cuisine and more exotic dishes of Philippine and Singaporean descent: tomato, pepper and cucumber gazpacho with a garlic and pine nut sauce; seabream paired with orange-glazed fennel and a buttery, Timut pepper-flavoured sauce." - Michelin Inspector

Les Bords de Mer (Marseille, French Riviera / Provence) 18 Verified Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"Les Bords de Mer simply means “the seaside,” and as a name for this particular hotel, it’s perfectly descriptive: it’s set right on Marseille’s waterfront, with all of its 19 rooms facing directly out to sea, so close that you could practically dive into the harbor from your balcony. (Note: do not do this.) It’s got, in some ways, the best of two worlds: the ocean views and Mediterranean exposure that make the Côte d’Azur a perennially desirable destination, and close access to Marseille, one of France’s most diverse and vibrant cities — it’s five minutes’ walk from the Vieux-Port and the old town center." - Tablet Hotels

Incredible location to stay in Marseilles. The ocean view from our room was stunning and we spent a lot of time on our balcony. The rest of the hotel was beautiful as well. The location is great with the beach right next to it and walking distance to the old harbor and lots of restaurants. We only had breakfast at the hotel which was delicious. The employees were also very friendly and helpful. The only minor negative point was the size of our room. With two people one has to sit on the bed for the other to be able to walk around. But I would always take that for the view. Strong recommendation.

We stayed at Les Bords de Mer for a few days following our wedding in Brittany and could not be more pleased with our stay. The food, amenities, and location were fantastic. The staff were so kind and courteous and we would certainly recommend or stay here again. By far the best sea view of any hotels near the old port, not only from your room, but the restaurant, pool and rooftop bar as well.

This hotel is way overpriced for what it offers. First there is no parking or even a driveway to safely drop off your luggage. There is no porter or anyone to help with your luggage. It’s on a very busy street with nowhere to stop. You’re lucky to get your bags out of the car without getting hit by a car or people biking rapidly by. The parking garage is a public garage that’s a 8 minute walk away. It’s about 45€ a night. The rooms are extremely small with barely any room to walk around the bed. The rooftop pool is unattended with about 6 old chairs and bird droppings around the edge as no one attends to it regularly. The “spa” is a small heated pool in the basement. Also unattended. We didn’t have breakfast but the buffet looked like minimal offering and mid

We loved the hotel! Sadly we spend only one night there. The location was perfect. Easy and free parking which is always nice. The pool on the rooftop had an amazing view! The rosé that we got as a compliment was also very good.

No attempt to prepare our room earlier than 4pm after arriving early. To make things worse the facilities such as the bar and the restaurant aren’t open during the daytime so there’s nowhere for guests to be welcomed within the hotel except a tiny sun scorched deck on the roof. Don’t arrive at this hotel until 4pm and don’t expect to feel welcomed. The rooms are tiny. Our deluxe see view was so poorly designed, the bathroom had more space than the actual room. No space for suitcases, a pointless desk and chair, tiny wardrobe with doors which if opened totally blocked the room. The balcony doors couldn’t fully open because the bed is in the way. Hotel reception recommended and arranged a taxi to the airport which cost 90 euros and only accepted cash. A terrible hotel which I would not stay in again or recommend.

Upon our arrival for a four day stay we were delighted by the location and the wonderfully warm welcome. The charming lady at reception made lots of useful restaurant and cafe recommendations. The room was a bit small but had a fantastic view and the bed was very comfortable. Up until the night before our departure we were very pleased with our choice of hotel. However, when we came back from dinner we asked for two teabags as we had run out. The woman who has been so helpful on our arrival asked for our room number, which puzzled us. Upon checkout the following morning, I noted that we had been charged for the two tea bags. As we ended up not using them, I offered to return them but was told that they could not be removed from the bill. Having spent over €1,400, I thought that the otherwise excellent service could have included a couple of free teabags. This left a bitter taste, but could easily have been rectified. Nevertheless, we still enjoyed our stay, until our departure, and would thoroughly recommend a visit to Marseilles which we loved.

Google
Beautiful building, location is stunning. And very nice breakfast! But this hotel is completely overpriced given that there is zero service, rooms are tinny, extremely unpractical and also very noisy (no double glazing, it feels like having an open window, can hear EVERYTHING outside). Avoid if you want quiet. WiFi is terrible.

Yelp
I have finally gotten a taste of Marseille's seaside beauty and there is no going back! After staying in hotels on the Vieux Port for every previous visit I finally took a local's advice and booked a room at this modest seaside hotel with sweeping 180 views and the sounds of waves lapping while you sleep. So gorgeous was the view from my room that I almost felt guilty being there on business! I quickly got over it, when I realized that on a Wednesday afternoon the beach next door (yes, next door!) was packed with locals soaking up the indian summer rays. In Marseille (I am quickly learning) when the weather rocks (which is often the case) it's hard to think of anything but dropping everything you're doing and heading to the beach. So in between appointments I snuck in a little "reconnaissance" excursion to the beach next door just to get a true feel for the place. So, back to the hotel. I both love and hate the fact that this hotel is so modest in terms of looks and services. I mean with its location, they could invest a few thousand euros and make the hotel in a snazzy boutique number and charge double what they do. But this is Marseille, and snazzy is not what this city is about, which is why you can find a seaside room here like I did for less than 100E a night. My double room was up on the third floor, which meant great views, but a high climb up the stairwell with suitcase in tow since there is no elevator. The stairwell and hallways could use a good paint job in one unified colored as opposed to the chipped kaleidoscope of colors their currently in. The bedroom itself was small, but had all of the essentials (except a full-length mirror), including a nice bathtub, very comfortable bed, small desk and TV. In addition to the steady WiFi and fabulous outdoor dining terrasse where you can work and/or eat in the sunshine, I can't think of a better bang for your buck in town.
