This was my second visit to the restaurant. Between my 2 visits, it lost it's Michelin star but this might have been a blessing in disguise as the food was even more elaborate than previously. There had been an uncomfortable feeling around service in the past but this was much improved. Eugénie, the chef's wife and Maitre D was very welcoming, pleasant and bubbly!
We took the opportunity of a 2 for 1 deal (2 guests would only pay the price of 1 meal). The set menu was very good and we thought that the price was fair. The wine (Chinon Vieilles Vignes) was very well priced too. If we had been obliged to pay for the 2 menus, in my opinion, it would have been slightly overpriced.
I do hope they improve on the atmosphere. The lighting is a little bit crude; they could make it softer and this would give the restaurant a cosier feeling. Something a bit more plush would make a massive difference.
The exceptional sommelier who was previously working there was unfortunately no longer working in the restaurant.
