Les Deux Gamins

We were lucky enough to wander in on a cold, rainy Thanksgiving day. Not only was the Thanksgiving dinner delicious, but the restaurant had the coziest feel. And we always appreciate when someone's great with toddlers (mine ended up having twice as many peas as me!). Just the friendliest service all around. We'll be back to try their regular menu for sure!

We came as a group, so it may be different from 2-4ppl experience. The menu has great variety and reasonable pricing. The onion soup is definitely one of the best I have had in Mtl. We share some appetizers and they were all delicious. My main course was Duck confit and it is also one of the best I have, the skin is crispy, so good! The common challenge nowadays is short staff, so we were not given bread, some drinks came later because waitress forgot, I heard some of my friends who ordered hanger steak, it was cold. There was also some confusion over billing but resolved after. Also maybe because the building is older, there was a draft of cold air in the restaurant, so dress warm is my suggestion. I think they tried their best for a group.

Ok restaurant. Food tasted pretty good, mashed potatoes very smooth. Just that the portion for my beef bourguignon was pretty light. The butternut squash soup was fine but the edges were already cold and generally the food took a while to be served out of the kitchen. The whole restaurant seemed to be operating on a skeleton crew from FOH to BOH on a Saturday night.

Visited this quintessential French restaurant in a very trendy area back in August. The owner was very hospitable/hands-on and accommodating. She was articulate and well-versed in French cuisine. Our food was excellent, esp the French onion soup (very generous on the cheese!!), the perfectly seasoned medium rare hangar steak and impressive lamb shank. All simple and elegant presentations. The brownie-nom nom!!! Good drinks too! I’ll definitely visit again next time I’m in Montreal.

The food was excellent, which explains why it's so popular with locals. The service was disappointing. The waitress seemed robotic and gave weird looks on us occasionally, which made me uncomfortable. She definitely needs better training.

Upon a google search for French restaurants, this location popped up with good reviews. We enjoyed the outdoor seating on a calm warm evening with charming comical servers, fast food delivery to the table, many French menu options & delightful drinks. Steak tartare, lamb shank, escargot appy were delicious. One less star for the salmon.. although cooked perfectly & delicious, it was a plain dish (might have been better served with more flavorful polenta or potato instead of bland cabbage slaw). Many guests in attendance so it must be popular. Recommend!

Visited on Christmas while traveling. The staff was very friendly, but seemed stretched a bit thin. All of the food we had was great, it just took a while to get it. The main hostess/owner? Apologized several times for long waits on things, and made our cocktails extra strong to make up for it 😂 The only real complaint was that the bread didn't come with the soups, we had to ask for it and had finished our soup by the time it arrived.

First time in Montréal and wanted a French Restaurant experience. Les Deux Gamins was a quaint space with old world charm. We arrived a bit early for dinner. Had water and sodas. The waitress, Morgan was very accommodating and also served fresh baked hot French bread. It was the best! Crusty outside and soft inside. This was our first meal of the day and wanted to save our appetites for it. We ordered an appetizer, main course and dessert. The French onion soup was some of the best my husband ever had. The broth was a dense flavor with a tad of sweetness. The bread crust was perfect as it softened in the broth. Plenty of cheese to fill the crock and lasted throughout the soup. The gazpacho was fabulous. Tasted fresh, tomatoey with a hint of bell pepper and onion along with a bit of spice. The portion was plenty and the thickness perfect. The main course included flank steak that tasted perfectly marinated and seasoned. It was ordered medium rare and prepared perfectly. Served with small broasted potatoes, was a perfect combination. Salmon with spaetzle was very good. The salmon was braised perfectly and did not have a fishy after taste. The spaetzle was prepared perfectly, soft with a crispy consistency. We loved it! Dessert was the crème puffs with vanilla ice cream and chocolate drizzle and ganashe. Light and yet filling. Enough to share. Crème brûlée had the perfect sugared crust and light crème with not too much sweetness. Perfect way to end a filling dinner.

I brought my Ontarian family who were visiting so they could get a taste of French cuisine. The tartare was average and the duck confit could've really used a side of salad to liven up the dish. Everything else was great.

We made reservations online for 6 pm on Wednesday. There was one other table. They have a nice patio seating which we sat with our dog. The food was delicious. We ordered the following: - escargot- 5/5 it's a cold salad with tomato sauce, greens, barley I think. The flavor was very nice although the escargot didn't have much taste. - foie gras - 5/5 3 sweet fruit jam, grapes, berry sauces and one round of the foie grae with few pieces of toasted bread. They gave us extra bread too. - French onion soup 5/5 thick layer of cheese - lamb shank with polenta 5/5 - duck confit casserole with sausage, ham, beans 5/5 - apperol spritz 3/5 - sangria 4/5 with more alcohol than normal Service was nice since we were one of the first tables. They gave our dog a bucket of water used by other dogs. My dog does not like shared water lol. Definitely a great French dinner stop in Montreal. Next time, we need to get desserts but we were super full with 3 appetizers and 2 mains for 3 of us.

I am giving a star more for the cutest of the ambiance. However that's about it. I do not recommend coming here as the food is just okay and sometimes not good at all, the service is not on par with its pricing. We had - salad - supposed to be romaine and mixed greens. 1 star. Literally looks like it came out of a Costco mixed green box with just dressing and nothing else. $9 worth about $1 - escargot the worst I have ever had. No flavor and out of the shell. Skip it. 1 star - foie gras at least met my expectations - duck confit - $36 for a small leg and wow overprices. 3 stars. Service was very amateur. Not worth the price. Skip it.

Wonderful flavors and cooked perfectly! Amble alcohol selection The baked brie was so tasty Cons: They were out of foie gras Limited seating inside Pro tip: We had a large group, so didn't get to sit in the outdoor patio section. If you have a chance, take advantage of it so you can feel like you are dining in Europe. Also take advantage of making a reservation on Yelp before you go!

Anyone who visits Montreal should make a dinner reservation for Les Deux Gamins. The food and service here are fantastic. For drinks, we had wine and a Kir cocktail. For appetizers, we had escargot and French Onion Soup. My cassoulet entree was incredibly filling. Come to this restaurant on an empty stomach because the portions are big.

This place was very charming, it was giving off French bistro vibes and I loved it. The food was delicious, some of the best gnocchi I have had (special of the day). I complimented the meal with a cocktail, a martini I recall. My sister got the duck Mac and cheese and she enjoyed hers as well. The service was nice. An overall great experience.

Excellent beef tartare, green salad, lamb shank and really many other dishes we tried. Service is laid back and no pressure. Take your time with your meal and enjoy the outdoor dining.

It is rare in this day and age that you go to a restaurant and feel like you are being hosted by family, but this is exactly how we felt at Les Deux Gamins.We were the only guests with children but immediately the owner not only helped us find parking (out of towners: take an Uber or allow plenty of time for finding parking in this residential neighborhood) but found an activity to keep our children occupied. The ambiance of the restaurant transports you to Paris with its full-on brasserie decor. While we came to Montreal at the end of winter, I am sure this is a glorious little restaurant when the weather warms up as it sits on a quaint square surrounded by other restaurants and outdoor lights. The food itself was nothing short of great. We had beef bourguignon and duck confit. Americans: maybe order an appetizer to prepare you for the smaller French portions. We did not, but left happily full after crème brûlée. Highly recommend this restaurant!

This isn't a review of the food quality, because we didn't even get to try it as we were turned away at 9:00 p.m. on a Saturday, well before the posted closing time, because the chef wanted to leave early. At least two other groups, including one that was already seated (!) were also refused service. At least the young gentleman who had to break the news to us was very nice and very apologetic. I feel bad for him having to work with such a problematic chef! It's extremely disappointing to end up stuck at the mediocre Greek chain restaurant next door when you are traveling with older family members who can't get around easily and who really wanted French cuisine at a cute little place in Montreal.

While passing through Montreal for one night, we wanted to find a cute bistro for a nice dinner. After a bit of googling and whatever last minute reservations were available, we stumbled into Les Deux Gamins. It was quite empty, with about 3-4 seated tables... but it was Thursday before Christmas, so totally understandable. We were seated promptly and the staff were very polite. They explained the menu and left us to browse. It's a good sized menu with a nice variety. We decided to have the soup of the day (squash), the Cassoulet with Duck Confit, and the Boeuf Bourguignon. Plus a beer. The service was pretty quick, and our server was just wonderful. She checked in appropriately throughout the evening, but leaving us to enjoy our meal for the most part. The food was divine! One of the better meals I've had this year. Boeuf Bourguignon with the potatoes just melt in your mouth - perfectly cooked! And the Cassoulet was delicious with a big duck leg confit. I imagine this will be a beautiful spot in the supper with outdoor seating. Highly recommend for a date night!

Went for dinner around 19:00, got seated on a little table on the ground level. The atmosphere of the place was very welcoming and warm. For appetizer, I ordered the escargots a l'espagnole, and it was the most generous portion of escargots i've ever been served! For main, the confit de canard was delicious, tho the edges of the duck were a bit on the dryer side. The dessert ordered was not written on the menu, but it was a delicious and not-too-sweet Paris-brest. To accompany all of this, the waitress recommended cafe bresilien, which is coffee with brandy, triple sec, and tia maria.

Our party house enjoyed a wonderful dinner at Les Deux Gamins tonight. The setting is beautiful- an open front overlooking a walk way. We shared escargot and beef tartare and baked Brie-- all very good. Then we enjoyed duck confit and hangar steak and mushroom ravioli. Desserts were excellent: profiterole and Carmel sauce brownie and crane brulee. Friendly service. We loved our dinner !

We were craving some authentic french cuisine on our visit to Montreal and this place completely hit the spot. We made a reservation a couple weeks in advance and were seated near the windows with a great view of the street. The restaurant itself was very warm and cozy, with lots of couples and larger groups enjoying their dining experience nearby. Our waiter was very kind and friendly, and gave us a few additional options for appetizers and main courses that were not on the menu. We decided to go with the escargot appetizer with the lamb shank and duck confit courses. The quality and presentation of the food was superb. It was so tasty it nearly had me licking my plate clean! We finished our meal with a dessert of profiteroles which were also a delicious finishing touch to an outstanding night.

Food was delicious. Fish was cooked perfectly! Service was very friendly. Highly recommended!

The location and the atmosphere of the main floor is what makes Les Deux Gamins a special place in Montreal. We have, and will continue to, return time and time again.

I loved the restaurant! It has a very nice French bistro theme and delicious food. They have some of the best French onion soup! The servers are very nice, speak multiple languages and are happy to make drinks off the menu. I had an amazing time there and I would recommend it to a friend.

Great place for a nice romantic dinner. -1 star because I was slightly excited about the check in offer for a free dessert only to be told they don't honor it. I wish they would remove it from their Yelp listing! Despite that, had a great meal here. The interior is beautiful and romantic on the cobblestone streets of Montreal. It has a garage door that opens up into the street and the interior has beautiful tones that really sets the mood. For dinner, we shared the french onion soup -- this was a bit on the sweeter side, but still delicious. Also had a summer salad and the salmon beet appetizer dish, followed by a delicious steak topped with asparagus on a bed of mashed potatoes. I think the steak was sitting out just a tad too long before being brought to us as the dish started to chill out a bit, but overall it was still delicious. The Paris Brest dessert were two pastries with cream in between that really elevated the experience. Was so glad to dine here; highly recommended!

My husband and I were looking for somewhere nice to have our anniversary dinner and found Les Deux Gamins by searching for beef tartare on Open Table. We walked up to the restaurant and noticed they had a nice, big patio area so we decided we'd like to sit outside. The hostess/waitress was so friendly and welcoming. She sat us at the table of our choice and told us she could make pretty much any cocktail we wanted and that they have a nice wine list also. We had a look at the menus while we waited for our cocktails. I had a Negroni and my husband had a Manhattan. Both cocktails were made perfectly and were delicious. For dinner, we decided we'd like to share some smaller plates of food. We ordered the beef tartare (since that's what had brought us there), the escargots, broccolini salad and Foie gras. Our waitress suggested a bottle of 2012 Chateau Haut Bourcier to complement our dishes, so that's what we ordered. The foie gras and beef tartare came out first. Both were just wonderful. The beef tartare was perfectly seasoned, served with frites and a couple of slices of baguette. The foie gras was luscious and decadent, served with cornbread (perhaps wouldn't have been my first choice), sliced plums, fig and grapes. Next came the escargots and the salad. The salad had a nice, light dressing tossed over some greens, broccolini, bok choi and was garnished with feta, walnuts and (I think) caper berries. The escargots were served with proscuitto, arugula and a pepper and tomato coulis. Both were scrumptious. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food and beverages sold. Especially when you compare them with other restaurants in Montréal. We would most decidedly go back to Les Deux Gamins and would highly recommend it to anyone and everyone. What a gem this restaurant (and its staff) is! Thank you to Les Deux Gamins for making our anniversary dinner so special.

Very yummy meal, probably my favorite in Montreal. I got the lambshank which was extremely tender (literally fell off the bone). The portion was a bit small. My waiter was very nice and it was a fun French-style bistro to visit.

Ok, caveat to this review, we were here on Thanksgiving evening, so our experience was unique. There was no menu, everyone got the same dinner including turkey medallions. The food was very good, and no complaints, but I can't talk to the overall menu. Our server was friendly and service was relatively fast. The hostess was very conscientious, and checked with us during the meal (I'm thinking she might be owner/manager too). The place has a very intimate atmosphere. We were up top, which was secluded, but right next to the bar (so a little distracting).

Very decent hangar steak. If you order the French onion soup, be prepared that its 90% bread and cheese, very little soup here, though tasty. Great service. Salmon was excellent.

This was our favorite restaurant in Montreal and we came back on our last night. The server (female/skinny) was awesome to our family. The Foie gras was great! Together with French onion soup, and the family also shared the steak! Dessert was a must, we ordered the creme brûlée and the chocolate puff dessert.

Come for the ambience on a beautiful day when you can dine Al fresco, stay for the French Onion soup and then move on to the next stop for something else. Chose this place based on stellar reviews, upon arrival, my hubs noticed they were pre-pandemic. Food was good but menu limited and for the price, I expected more. For example, hanger steak-nothing too original, always a challenging cut and nothing that impressed at that price. Same for the arctic fish, good not great. That said, lovely neighbor locale, friendly and attentive staff just hoping for a bit more.

Such a perfect place to get amazing French food in a cozy historic cottage with some of the friendliest hosts and waitstaff! Everything was deliciousness filling. My daughter says that the lamb shank was the best she has had anywhere (and she orders this at least once or twice every vacation we have taken). Our best meal in Montreal!

The food we did have was alright. We came for the duck (which makes up the majority of their menu), however they told us they had no more duck. If an ingredient constitutes the majority of your menu, how can you not have enough of it? Being French myself, I had my hopes up. Sadly, I cannot say they were realised. Ambiance was relatively good, and so was our waitress. Sadly, I can only partially recommend. If you come, just hope they have duck.

So this place came up as highly ranked among the best in Montreal so I made it a goal to eat here while on business. Here's how it went! Atmosphere/Appearance: Once parking on the street and turning the corner to see this beautiful, open courtyard lined with tables and chairs we were excited to have a seat to experience the real French style of dining outdoors! The cute restaurant is elongated with red paint for the top 2 floors and a bright yellow for the bottom. I couldn't tell you much of what the interior looked like since we were outside, but I can tell you that you walk right by the open kitchen where you can see the chefs work their magic as you make your way to the bathroom. I loved the way this place is setup and we were very thankful for the great weather. Service: Anne was taking great care of us while training a brand new young lady who was having her first day while we were there! I think her name started with a "C", but no matter, they were both awesome and paid a great deal of attention to us. I hope the new girl is doing well! Food: So... they had an appetizer special of the day, frog legs. I had never had them before in my life and have heard the "they taste like chicken" thing way too many times so it was time to settle this! I ordered them and they were actually delicious. They're quite fatty, but flavorful. There isn't much mean on the bones, you know... it's a frog, but it was good and it did resemble chicken. For my entree I went with the Braised Lamb Shank. It consists of the shank, mashed potatoes, roasted carrots, then drizzled with homemade BBQ Sauce all inside a cast iron "tub". It was FABULOUS. The meat fell off the bone of course and was so freaking tasty. I was very happy with my meal. Value: This place isn't cheap. In my travels I've found that many French-based restaurants aren't cheap at all. Lol. All prices are in CAD$. My appetizer was a special so it surprisingly only $12.00. Imagine that. Lol. However, my lamb shank was $27.00. Totally worth the money. In conclusion, I loved this place and truly felt like I COULD HAVE had this very same experience in France. One day I'll get there and can confirm this! Lol. Check this place out if you can.

We were lucky to catch them on a slow night and had the whole place to ourselves own. The place is very nice and has a great ambiance. We had the lox, beef bolognese w/garlic mash potatoes, and the French onion soup. I am a vegetarian and Valiere offered to make me an off menu meal. It was a delicious pasta with cheese and baked mushrooms. We are visiting Montreal for the weekend and this was a great place to start our experience.

Service and food were good. Not the best French food but decent for the price. Great service though.

Dining inside on a warm evening with the front open was a great way to start a stay in Montreal, especially with friends who wanted a meal representative of the French cuisine in Montreal. The wine list is impressive, but among us we imbibed little, just one glass and a few cocktails. The rest of the "oohs," "aahs" and "yums!" were for all the cuisine. This included everything, from the crusty bread to the soups (the French Onion Soup is classic), and the entrees. I have a rule in restaurants: "If they have lamb on the menu, you order lamb, unless they also offer duck." Duck breast it was, accompanied by very well prepared vegetables, including some of the tastiest cooked carrots I've ever had (I hate cooked carrots unless they're roasted!). Service was great, especially since they were performing Tetris-like activities trying to get our meals onto small round tables. Bonus points for the rest room sign. I didn't take a photo - you'll just have to go there to see it, and order some food and drink while you're there too.

Came here with 3 friends with a reservation we made an hour in advance. We ran into another friend when we were here so that was pretty funny! Food: DEFINITELY remember to check in! Can't waste a good free dessert! We got the cream puff dessert, pretty sure it varies depending on what they have available. The free bread is quite fluffy and crunchy! I got the seasonal risotto which was quite bland if I may say so but with the help of my friend's duck confit and pan fried steak the dish tasted a lot better. We also tried the Foie gras which wasn't like great but tasted authentic nonetheless. Service: Service was actually kind of slow but the waiter was really nice and gave us refills of bread. Ambiance: it's a classy date night vibe and I loved the decorations! This was a nice intro to Montreal! I wouldn't come back but I appreciated the experience.

Awesome experience, the food was terrific (braised lamb, quack and cheese & gnocchi) and the restaurant and neighborhood are amazing. Interior is great and they have an outdoor area as well that looked really nice but was full while we were there. Service is what really made it though!

A lovely atmosphere and a fine place to eat. We sat outside during the summer near the fountain and the walk way. Towards the end of dinner, a band came and started playing some songs. The entire experience made everything feel very European. My husband ordered the duck confit and I had the poached cod. The presentation of the food was excellent and the dishes were very balanced. The duck confit was roasted to a crisp and given a side salad. The arugula gave a nice kick to the dish while the vinaigrette added a hint of acidity. The poached cod was cooked through and did not have much flavor on its own. But with the nuts and veggie mix on top, it had a wonderful full taste when everything was added together. The only issue I had was that they forgot to make Salmon Tartare until reminded. We ordered the frog legs and Salmon Tartare as appetizers. Unfortunately, we only got one and finished the legs before needing to gently remind the waiter about our other dish. It was not a big deal and we continued to have a nice meal afterwards.

Came here for dinner based upon reviews. When we arrived there were no diners, just our family of four. By the time we left Deux Gamins was filing up. Good service (I think Les Deux Gamins might have some connection with the restaurant next door because our waitress was also waiting on tables for their outdoor dining as well), solid food, small portions, but tasty. Beautiful outdoor dining.

I will start off stating that French food is really not my favourite cuisine. I was invited as part of a group and got to sample a few of my friends' dishes. I did not enjoy the escargot AT ALL. In fact, I did not enjoy any of the appetizers I tried, which included salad and cheese, frogs legs and ravioli. Surprisingly, the frogs legs were the best part. For dinner, I tried the steak served with mashed potatoes and duck confit. It was a very generous portion and while it was good, I was left underwhelmed. Dessert was my favourite part (which is never the case), with a creme brulée and profiteroles. I wouldn't go back.

A nice French place with a good selection of French tapas as well as some French classics. It is nearly a five star partly due to higher expectations. The food was quite good especially for the price and the moderate usage of fat but just shy of 5 stars.

If you're looking to feel quintessentially français in Montreal, Les Deux Gamins offers up a slightly cozy, slightly high end experience. French onion soup, foie gras, beef tartare...all those things that a Francophile foodie would fall head over heels for. It was a nice but blistering August evening and a group of friends and I arrived here on our last day in Montreal to really get a taste of the French side of things. We got treated to a view of the street, what was basically, two open garage doors on the second storey. It was hot, apparently people in Montreal don't believe in AC. I have no idea how the cooks survive, but walking past their open kitchen, they looked like they were moving quick and enjoying work. Now I'm not a French food connoisseur but I can tell when something tastes good. And yep. The food here tasted pretty good. The French onion soup was cheesy, not too salty, and very satisfying. It was perfect to share between two people, or if you feel like only having a soup for a meal. The beef tartare was fresh and tasty, with a beautiful egg yolk on top. The duck is one of their signatures, I believe. At least people had good things to say about it in reviews. I actually found it the most unimpressive out of what we tried though. The duck confit wasn't memorable and while I don't hate peas, I thought the pea puree was a little too abundant and a little too sweet. Service was lovely and friendly. There were barely any patrons in the building with us, and maybe just a handful sitting outside. Not that we minded, it was actually quite a nice quiet evening...until a very loud family with young kids was placed next to us and the parents decided it was ok for them to run around and knock glasses over...sigh. The owner Valerie is a delight. The tartare, French onion soup and escargot were fantastic. Outdoor seating area is very pleasant. Very helpful staff. Loved everything about it.

Be who you are, that's what I say. Are you a French restaurant? Yes you are. Are you a little bit touristy? Maybe. But that's a little bit of your charm, I think. You don't have a bright red exterior and lots of advertising on the outside of your restaurant if you're not, you know, trying to advertise to the passersby, so I think they're owning it. And there's nothing inherently wrong. I myself am, begrudgingly admitting that I fit that description, and after a long flight across the country I was ravenous and just looking for a nice place to eat outside, breathe the Montreal air and listen to the Montreal sounds. I wanted to eat, and just be still after moving so fast all day long. That's what I did. I walked up and was seated immediately out front, as the street this is located on is closed to all vehicle traffic. It's a lovely walkway and there's a fountain nearby, with lots of foot traffic and peoplewatching to be had. The diners around me all spoke French but laughed in the universal language of good times, and I ordered. I started with the chevre salad, which was not what I was expecting but somehow even better. A small pot of hot chevre and a couple of toast points accompanied a salad of greens, split cherry tomatoes, and onions lightly dressed. I scooped, I stabbed, and I inhaled it all. Lovely. The lamb shank came next and it was rich and hearty and filling. The veggies that accompanied it were cooked but cold in the middle, which was the only down point, but I left so very stuffed and relieved from my journey that I wasn't bothered. The service was so quick and efficient, and I think my favorite little bit of all was the restroom in its black-and-white tile glory. So cute! The whole building--three stories--seems lovely. Not a soul was upstairs and only one party dined inside, but in winter I bet this is a wonderful place to sit and look down on the snowy streets below. Another reason to mark this and come back in another time.

I went here last night and had such a wonderful experience! Not only was the service and food great, but sitting in their outdoor seating area was the perfect setting for a rare date night. My fiancé and I are not ones to go out for a nice meal so when we chose to go here last night we had high hopes and were so happy with our choice. We started with the warm goat cheese salad because of the pictures of a fellow Yelper. While the goat cheese was absolutely amazing, the salad greens were completely saturated and almost soggy with dressing. Our salad also did not look anything like the picture posted on Yelp. As an update, the menu changes seasonally, so do not count on the menu being the same as the one shown on Yelp. I was very excited to get the chicken shown on the menu on Yelp, since I don't eat red meat, but they did not have any chicken entrees when I visited. They had multiple red meat entrees and a cod dish, which I tried and was very good - but not perfect. We also tried the dessert special with roasted apricots and mint-thyme ice cream, it was incredible!

The bistro fare was delicious and the outdoor was seating was lovely for a summer evening. Service was perfect.

Really enjoyed the meal we had here. The service was awesome. Had the hanger steak and tried the French onion soup. French onion soup was awesome, so filling, flavourful and full of onions and cheese. The steak was also delicious. Shared the charcuterie board. The pickles were the most surprising. It was so good!

Amazing food and atmosphere. We ended up being there on the Canadian Thanksgiving and the had a set menu for the holiday. Initially I was disappointed but the meal was so tasty-like over the top. It exceeded our expectations!

This cute French bistro on Rue Prince Arthur has been a favorite of ours for a while. We sat outside and it was nice to people watch as we enjoyed our meals. I got the poached cod and it was delicious (needed a bit of black pepper, but I do like things a bit spicier). It come on top of some nice fresh vegetables. My BF got the hanger steak and it was outstanding...always done perfectly. If you order it medium rare, you will see some blood....Medium will be perfectly pink in the middle. Our friend Amy got a salmon tartar dish and it was outstanding. Fresh tasting, nicely seasoned. It came with crostini and fries (not crispy enough though).... Nice french bread basket is provided as a starter. They have lots of selections of beer and wine. They take credit cards.

Very nice bistro restaurant. It is a mutli storey layout and it has a great atmosphere. Had their fixed price menu with the French onion soup to start. It wasn't a great French onion as it was a bit bland. My wife had the warm goat cheese salad which was great. Had the hanger steak with a parsnip puree and salad. It was amazing. Wife had the duck breast with roasted vegetables and that was very good. Service was nice and attentive.
