Les Etangs de Corot is a four-star hotel and spa complex that is part of the Relais & Châteaux collection. It is located in the charming town of Ville d'Avray, which offers a variety of amenities for a fulfilling life in nature, about 20 minutes from Paris and 10 minutes from Versailles, on the banks of the picturesque ponds that served as inspiration for the Impressionist artist Jean-Baptiste Corot in Paris, after whom the hotel is named. The history of this place begins with the ponds. The old pond was created in the late Middle Ages by the Celestine monks for fish farming. The new pond was built in 1690 by order of Philippe d'Orléans, the brother of King Louis XIV, to serve as a reservoir for the fountains and cascades in the park of the Château de Saint-Cloud. The underground aqueduct connecting the pond to the park still exists today. The artist Corot often visited the area, as his father owned a country house nearby, and these landscapes can be seen in many of his paintings, which are now housed in museums around the world. The main aura of this place is associated with its rich artistic and intellectual history. Over the years, the area has attracted not only Corot but also other celebrities such as Claude Monet, Victor Hugo, and Charles Baudelaire. This modern hotel was built on the site of the historic Genchette tavern, which has been in existence since the 19th century and was awarded a Michelin star in 1900. After several changes of ownership, the hotel was acquired by the Beautiful Life Hotels group, which carried out a comprehensive restoration from 2020 to 2022. Today, the hotel offers 42 individually decorated rooms, a spa with a sauna and jacuzzi, and two restaurants: Le Corot, a Michelin-starred restaurant, and the more informal des Artistes restaurant. Thus, the main uniqueness of Les Etangs de Corot Hotel lies in the harmonious combination of its rich historical heritage, natural beauty, and high level of modern hospitality. I would especially like to mention the reception staff, where Erica is a true gem. If I were to open a hotel, I would definitely hire her to lead the reception team. She is an exceptionally cheerful and hardworking professional, a true master of her craft. Now, let's discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the hotel that I consider significant. The hotel offers a wide range of rooms, each with its own unique charm. Many of the rooms have impressive views of the surrounding nature. The rooms are well-equipped with a kettle and coffee machine, and the towels are thick, new, and fluffy. The bathrobes and slippers are comfortable. The only minor issue is that the window in room 404 needs cleaning, as it does not meet the hotel's high standards. The spa center has a well-heated sauna, but the promised jacuzzi is not functioning. I usually don't use the jacuzzi, especially since many of the hotel's rooms have bathtubs, but if it's listed as a free service for guests, it should be available. In the Café des Artistes restaurant, I would diversify the menu by including lamb dishes and salads that are more in line with modern health requirements. The restaurant can get quite noisy when there are a lot of guests. Unfortunately, the Le Corot restaurant is only open three days a week, from Thursday to Saturday, which is not sufficient for a hotel of this caliber. Overall, the hotel is wonderful, cozy, and harmonious, with very beautiful views.

Beautiful, comfortable room with character and a great shower. Food was also excellent both at dinner and the continental breakfast - good selection.|Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Interesting at dinner - one of the meals (beef) was very tough and chewy - they offered another or alternative - so I went for the duck which was superb. Things go wrong with food sometimes... its how a place rectifies it that matters and this place did great. BTW the french fried potatoes are 'unbelievably' good... had to have two bowls!

Wonderful setting and very tasty food. We went there for a lunch in the garden and a walk in the forest. The service is nice, you can also rent a jacuzzi overlooking the nature, it is spacious inside and outside. Will certainly return.

This is a first-class hotel in very convenient location for Versailles and Paris, yet also allowing relaxation in the tranquility of the nearby ponds and the excellent garden. Some aspects of the hotel are worthy of 5-star classification, bore out, for example, by staff willing to go the extra mile to assist and the breakfast fare.

Warm welcome.||Great experience at Le Corot restaurant.||Food was delicious. We came with a 2 years old baby and we never felt out of place, everybody was really nice with us and patient.||Really appreciated the explanations about each dish.||Staff knew we got a baby and spontaneously offered and prepared a bed for him in the room, for free.||Inside the city but the other side seems so far from the busy roads and it was really calm and relaxing.

Our stay at Les Étangs de Corot was simply wonderful. Surrounded by beautiful ponds and lush greenery, the hotel offers a peaceful retreat with elegant, well-appointed rooms and stunning views. The service was warm and attentive, making us feel truly welcome.||||The restaurant exceeded our expectations with its outstanding cuisine, and breakfast was a delightful start to each day. The spa provided the perfect place to relax and unwind.||||A hidden gem where nature, luxury, and hospitality come together—highly recommended!

L’étangs de Corot meets all the standards you would expect from a Mr & Mrs Smith or Relais et Château property. It is intimate and unique with warm hospitality in a beautiful setting. We stayed for two nights and had a wonderful experience. Make sure to walk around the pond while you’re there! One of the days was my mom’s 60th birthday. We did the bubbles experience at the spa and had dinner at cafe des artistes. Thank you to the staff, but especially Julien at the cafe, who made the day extra special.||Easy access to Versailles- about 10 minutes to the chateau by car. Ubers were easy to get.

This will be as brief as possible a summary of what was probably the worst hotel experience in decades of travel …..at a cost of over €715 for two nights, with no breakfast.||Check in: wouldn’t accept American Express, despite website claiming otherwise and having booked with that card||They then used my Visa Credit Card and tried to debit twice, resulting in my credit card being blocked. Took hours to resolve.||Duty manager dismissed my issues at check in: “29 other people have been fine”. Hardly a great attitude or way to try to resolve my issues||Later, the General Manager came to my room offering a free bottle of champagne - my wife and I could not speak properly at that time, as we were on the phone to Booking.com / trying to get credit card unblocked. The champagne never arrived.||Despite being a spa hotel, no spa facilities are available unless you have pre booked. It’s only open to customers on Monday to Friday.||Waited in bar to be served on Saturday evening for over 15 minutes. We (my wife, me and a friend who was with us and experienced similar check in / check out issues) were not served so we left to drink / eat elsewhere.

We decided to stay just outside of Paris for a few days and this place has served us WELL!! We wanted the BESTEST experience here therefore we booked THE BEST room where basically we had the entire section of the hotel all to ourselves!! Can't speak for the other rooms here, but our room had a spectacular lake view and the room is huge with a grand bathroom!! For the very best, they have assigned a person to make sure we are always taken care of 24/7 at our beckon call (no joke!! life is great isn't it!! lol) who showed us the entire place inside and out. If you want the best, you've gotta book the best to be treated like royal!! Just love this place. Definitely will re-visit when we come to Paris!!
