Winter in the French Alps: Where to Eat and Stay According to Our MICHELIN Guide Inspectors

"One of Val Thorens’ Inspector favorites, One-Star Les Explorateurs at Hôtel Pashmina is praised for its inventive, high-quality alpine cuisine and standout desserts that draw on seasonal mountain ingredients." - Lane Nieset

"In a magnificent hotel set 2 345m above sea level, this high-flying restaurant is well worth the climb. The eye-catching interior decor sets the tone for exploring the chef's inspired creations based on meticulously sourced high-quality ingredients: scallops with mushrooms from La Motte-Servolex; venison fillet with clementine and beetroot; AOC Bresse chicken served two ways. Right through to the desserts, the dishes are a resounding manifestation of consummate technical skill and a determination not to be just another luxury hotel restaurant." - Michelin Inspector

An experience in one of the highest Michelin Star restaurants in the world (in altitude) is worth the price. 7 course meal with exceptional service and excellent atmosphere. The food was delicious and beautifully plated and served, and the cocktails were original and tasty.

This place is amazing! Came here for my boyfriends 30th birthday and the service was incredible, wine varied and delicious, and the food was second to none. Would really recommend if you’re happy to spend extra on something special.

One of the most extraordinary tasting menus we have ever experienced. Every aspect of our visit was impeccable, and we had an absolutely fantastic time. The staff were exceptionally kind and knowledgeable, going above and beyond to ensure we had a memorable evening. They were especially accommodating to a pregnant member of our group, which was a thoughtful and much-appreciated gesture.

A nicely decorated place with a good level of service. However the food was not up to our expectations. We were 4 people and ordered the expedition menu made up of 8 courses. The first 2 starters were really good, but they were followed by 2 dishes that were too salty, overpowering any other tastes. We only got through them by drinking large quantities of water. The next course was chicken meat which was dry and uninteresting. Of the 3 dessert courses, some were technically interesting, but only a few items were particularly tasty. Overall definitely a disappointment for a Michelin restaurant.

friendly and professional restaurant staff, decent dinning environment, live performance in the lounge outside the dinning room. High standard food quality but taste is okay. Personally I don't think it lived up to my expectation. At least, the dishes did not surprise me, considering their pricey cost.

What a disappointment. So many things that went wrong that shouldn’t when you call yourself a one star Michelin restaurant. We sent two dishes back because the taste was just completely off and nobody even cared. Wine accompanying the food arrived after the dish, got charged an extra bottle of water on the bill, waitress barely spoke English. This restaurant doesn’t deserve the star at all. The only reason it’s getting two stars instead of one is the shuttle that took us back to our hotel and the very friendly driver!
