Les Faux Bourgeois feels like a classic neighborhood French bistro done properly. The atmosphere is warm and intimate, with a cozy charm that makes it ideal for a relaxed dinner where you can actually enjoy conversation without feeling rushed. The food is rich, comforting, and confidently traditional. Dishes are well executed, portions are satisfying, and flavors feel deep and familiar in the best way. Nothing feels overly modernized or fussy. It’s clear the focus is on classic technique and consistency rather than trends. Service is friendly and attentive, adding to the overall welcoming feel.

Solid French bistro style food and with good sized portions and authentic flavours. The bistro is located on the Kingsway and Fraser intersection. Service is friendly and you get seated fairly quickly. Though having a reservation is always a safe way to go. They have a limited cocktail menu, but the ones they do have are well made. Would like to have seen some fancy ice for the price though. Overall, a good dining experience for one of the older French bistros in Vancouver (15+ years). The fact they’ve been around for this long is a testament to their consistency and work into their food.

A lovely experience and the onion soup is the best. Next visit I'll try the more authentic onion soup sans meat. Lemon tart with raspberry reduction gave a nice lift at the end of our dining. Our sever was knowledgeable and generous. The atmosphere is beautiful in its simplicity and warmth.

Great French restaurant with bistro style decor. The ambiance is very European, a little smaller space wise but cozy and inviting. The restaurant feel is warm and inviting, perfect on a cold evening to walk in and hear people chatter in the mood lighting. The service was polite and kind, checking on the table regularly, helpful with a small modification to a main dish. The food was delicious! To start the French onion soup was A+! The roasted cauliflower tart was also a surprisingly tasty, with the tart being very light and flakey. The mussels and steak were excellent, especially the peppercorn sauce. The fries were a winner as well, crispy outside, soft inside and well salted. We didn’t finish the order but they accented the steak nicely. Overall great experience, we’ve been before and plan on coming again!

Onion soup was rich and complex. It was however topped with too much toasted bread and had too little broth. Grilled squid was the best dish of the whole meal. The squid was cut to thin slices served with fresh shaved fennel salad and very tender. Mushroom risotto was creamy and cooked with a slightly al dente texture. Hanger steak was served a bit cold. The staff were actually very friendly and did their very best to keep things in order while there was a little uninvited visitor entering the restaurant in the middle of our meal, which obviously ruined the overall dining experience.

Reservations are critical, but if you show up when they open, sometimes they can squeeze you in. Today was one of those lucky days for us. Canard(duck) comfit for Tomi and steak/fritz for myself, rare please. They know what they are doing, their sauces are to die for. Peppercorn for the steak, yum. And they’re all So friendly and knowledgeable. We did start off with the pork pate. 🤗

Had a birthday dinner with my family. The place is quaint and has character but is very cramped and noisy. Interesting that the table we sat at the table top was quite sticky to the touch. We ordered the French onion soup and tartare to start and they were both delicious. Our mains included their special scallop risotto, menu risotto, steak frites, salmon and canard confit. Every was delicious but some of our dishes we found quite salty. We followed up with the chocolate mouse and crème brûlée dessert and these were super tasty. Our waiter was friendly but had a serious demeanor about him. Overall we enjoyed the evening and the food. We found their food was less expensive than other French restaurants with similar menus. We certainly would recommend this place for families or a date with your better half.

Food was good! I wouldve wished more flavour upon our squid appetizer. But the steak and duck were great! This place transports you back to a bistro in france. Bravo with the vibes and service.

Recommended for date nights, special occasions and especially for foodies who love French cuisine and enjoy creme brulee! Their thoughtfully featured items are ALWAYS yummy! Their mushroom tarts, scallops and steak and frites are excellent choices. We ordered 2 appetizers to share, 3 main dishes and the crème brulee dessert at the end was perfect! Honestly, I loved every dish that was ordered and I am truly impressed this French spot kept up their excellent food taste and attentive service after being opened for over a decade. Ambiance here is still cozy...though tables are close together, we feel comfortable carry on conversations and there was no feelings of being overheard or that the next table was too loud. This is a great place for memorable meals and French cuisine. I hope to return more often, especially when I crave creme brulee.

The food was absolutely amazing, all the dishes we ordered exceeded our expectations. We had the duck confit, risotto, mussels, beef tartar and grilled squid, and finished it off with creme brûlée and chocolate mousse. We love the atmosphere it was very cozy with ambient lighting and gave romantic vibes. The service was attentive and knowledgeable, with our server providing excellent wine pairing recommendations that complemented our meal perfectly. I would absolutely come back here again!

We started out our trip in Vancouver here for dinner! Excellent specials. We loved our cocktails to begin the evening. Our server was so friendly and helpful with the menu. The four of us ordered right after being seated. I ordered the steak frites and they were excellent. Everyone was very pleased with their meals, which included Coq Au Van and mussels. We ended by splitting a chocolate dessert and it was perfect. The vibe inside is definitely date night with low lighting and comfortable seating and we very much enjoyed it I would definitely add this to your reservation list if you're visiting!

Your friendly neighbourhood French bistro Nice intimate setting. Perfect for a date night or a catch up with a friend. It's a small place with mainly two-tops so may not be ideal for larger groups. The food was great. Fun menu with a lot of the French classics that aren't too common around Vancouver. We got a few things to share. All were excellent. *Starters* Escargot - wonderfully garlicky. comes with crostini. Served out of the shell. Pâte de Campagne - this was good, but lacked depth of flavour for me. Perhaps it was the contrast with the more intense flavour of the other starter. *Mains* Steak frites - nice steak perfectly cooked to rare. Pre-cut (maybe as they knew we were sharing). Comes with mayo and a peppercorn sauce. Coq au vin - fun dish of slow-cooked leg of chicken in red wine, mushrooms, lardons, pearl onions and potatoes. Wine - they had a good selection of French and local wines. Tried the Pinot Noir (Meyer) which was excellent for just a glass. All the French classics on a pleasantly simple menu. Would go again.

I'm giving this place 4 stars cuz of the service. They messed up one of our orders. I had ordered the Vegetarian French Onion Soup and they brought out the regular one. When we pointed out the error they had the kitchen make a Vegetarian one very quickly so that was good. They were apologetic enough about the error, but not extraordinarily apologetic about it. Five stars to the food! This was our second time at this restaurant, and first time ever that we've done a repeat for our anniversary dinner. Usually we try something new for our anniversary. This was the first time we chose a restaurant that we'd already had an anniversary dinner at. No regrets about it. the food here is fantastic. And the Vegetarian French Onion soup is out of this world! It's better than the regular version...seriously. Even our server told us that the people in their kitchen say the Vegetarian version tastes better! This place is a "must try" and I very very highly recommend trying the Vegetarian French Onion Soup! Sorry, no photos of the food. I did take photos but having some technical difficulties right now!

Les Faux Bourgeois is a solid spot for classic French food in a cozy, intimate setting. We got a window seat and it was lovely. The French onion soup was rich and cheesy, exactly what I'd hope for, but it's normal French restaurant level, not out of the world. The beef tartare was fresh, well-seasoned, and paired nicely with crispy crostini, I really really enjoyed this! The mushroom risotto was creamy and full of earthy flavor, I'm not a fan of the micro greens in there, it doesn't not really blend. Also after 5 bites, it got a little boring. The cod with mussels was perfectly cooked, the shrimps are soooo fat and juicy, with a light yet flavorful broth. The potatos in there were creamy. Great spot for a comforting, well-executed meal. The bread is so nice. Service is not bad, I also just hope they can remove chairs that are shaky due to uneven legs

An unassuming french bistro with dimly lit ambience around Kingsway area that intrigued me from the perpetual queue. Felt like food was alright (I found most of the dishes overly seasoned/sauce for some reason) but desserts were good. Pretty good cocktail and wine list with decent service. Overall not bad, but won't be in a hurry to return Mushroom Risotto ($26) 6/10 Pretty standard risotto with spinach, sage, and parmesan. Texture was okay but this dish was unusually salty. Tartare de Boeuf ($28) 7/10 Beef tartare with capers, mustard, shallot egg yolk served with fries. I like the fact that it was flavourful and fresh, however I felt like they went overboard with the seasonings... would have liked to taste the beef more. Canard Confit ($31) 7.5/10 Probably the best dish out of ones we ordered. Really enjoyed the confit duck itself, my feedback would be that the warm salad (potatoes, arugula, goat cheese, and port jus) had too much dressing. Grilled Squid ($17) 4/10 Served with shaved fennel salad and sauce vierge. Not a fan, squid was really tough to eat and had chewy texture. Creme Brulee ($10) 7.5/10 Really good fresh creme brulee. Rich and decadent in all the right ways. Chocolate Mousse ($8) 7.5/10 Personally prefer this over the creme brulee as I am more a chocolate person. Not too sweet with strong chocolate flavour.

This place was amazing. Our server Bruno was great and funny to talk to. Definitely recommend if you crave for some French food flare.

Yummy little place. Blink and you may miss it. We did. LOL. Had to drive around the block and then parked right in front. Its a small quiet little place. Great for small gatherings and cozy dinners. Service was great. The waiter explained all the dishes and told his favs and why he liked them. We had the SALADE DE CHÈVRE CHAUD, SOUPE À L'OIGNON GRATINÉE and CANARD CONFIT. Great flavor, beautifully presented and priced accordingly. Would definitely go back.

UPDATE TO 2023 REVIEW!! I've been here already 3 times in the 2023 year and omg, this restaurant will forever be my favourite spot for a simple dinner with some close friends. Every single time I am here, it is consistently amazing!! This year, I have tried all their daily features, and each time I have had it, it is always delicious. And on top of that, their service is fantastic, and I have been served by Dave for the past 2 times this year and he has been extremely friendly and nice to us. This is for sure the perfect date spot as well. The ambiance is perfect for it. It has low lighting, romantic atmosphere, and on top of that, it is cozy and comfortable. I really love how their cocktails are extremely affordable as well, and they taste delicious too! Their food selection has been the same for the past 10 years, they have the iconic Beef Tartare and it is always memorable. Their meat to cracker/bread ratio is perfect, and that is very rare for most tartares. On top of that, they always have the iconic escargot. It is perfectly baked and cooked to a perfection that isn't too chewy and deliciously buttery too. This place is special for their steak frites, as I have always walked off with some take home for the night. They have so much steak and fries in that kitchen to bring home it is perfect. On top of that, their daily features have always surprised me with something delicious every time. Their chefs know how to do a proper meal and it is always warm and hearty. Anyways, I do recommend this place every time my friends want a subtle and gentle place to eat. It is low brow and it does carry a good weight for the past years it has been at this location. Well done LFB.

A wonderful experience as a tourist looking for something new to try. The server was amazing and honest with the recommendations as a first time diner. The restaurant is a nice relaxing with a bar for those who want to unwind with wine. The taste of the food was flavorful with plenty left over.

Les Faux Bourgeois is a great little bistro in East Vancouver that serves up classic French dishes such as duck confit and steak frites. I recently visited again to try their new puff pastry tarts, and they were delicious. Pro tip: you can pay an extra $7 to upgrade your steak to a tenderloin! Totally worth it. It usually gets quite busy so ensure you have a reservation, or come right when they open!

Missed the photo of escargot, a full amount of the garlic butter escargot with crostini. Service was awesome, food served hot and fresh, so much flavor in all the dishes!

Most affordable delicious French food. The service team was extremely attentive and friendly. The restaurant gave off a classic speakeasy ambiance which helped curate the food served. I recommend parking a block away in the inner residential streets two minutes away. Street parking can be limited with all the other restaurants located on the strip. Our order: Grilled Squid, Moules Marinieres, Le Steak Frites with Red Wine Shallot Jus. I would definitely order all these dishes again during my next visit. The wine pairings were much appreciated by the staff.

Went to Les Faux Bourgeois with a group of 5 friends last night. It was such a awesome experience. Great vibe, great service and most of all, great food. Everything was made to order and fresh. We will definitely be back.

We made a reservation over the phone several weeks ahead for our staff Christmas dinner. Being in the same neighbourhood we like to support fellow businesses. Upon arriving we were told there was no reservation made for us. No apology, no empathy just told that the "protocol wasn't followed as they did not receive a confirmation for the reservation." We were never sent a confirmation to reply to. When I called to book the staff dinner I spoke to the same person on 2 occasions that day. The first was to find out if there was a set dinner menu or if we would be ordering off the regular menu and to inquire what the corking fee would be to bring in our own wine (was told $30 per bottle corking fee). The second conversation was to confirm that we wanted book for 12 people & that we would be bring our own wine. I was told we would be seated in the café side of the restaurant as we had more than 10 people in our party. The night of our dinner we were made to feel as if we were in the wrong as "the hosts here know to follow the protocol & they would have sent the reservation confirmation". The manager was quite indignant, unapologetic & down right rude. We will make sure to share this experience with all of our clientele as many of them also reside in this neighborurhood & also like to support our local businesses.

We did not have a reservation but we were able to sit outside on their patio, which is surprisingly underdeveloped compared to others in the neighborhood. They didn't have any heats lamps or music but there was a lot of street noise and then bees kept circling around. The food was decent but I think the best part was the salad that came with the duck, which had a nice dressing and goat cheese mixed in. This was my first time at a French restaurant and it was underwhelming.

Haven't been here in a few years but the quality of food is still very good. For apps, we tried the steelhead tartare, beef tartare and grilled squid. This start of the meal was impressive. Beef tartare is great, I could really taste the beef was good quality. Steelhead tartare on their feature was even better! The flavours were so complex and worked really well together. The grilled squid was phenomenal, nice Smokey flavour, not chewy at all. I do I could eat that all night. For mains, We had the moules frites, steak frites, duck breast and cassoulet. Food was all flavourful but just got saltier and saltier as the night went on. The mussels weren't as big as k would've liked and the broth was quite salty. The steak for the most part was good except there was a tendon right down the middle making it chewy and really hard to cut into bite sized pieces. Oh right and super great that they prefer the steak and duck breast for you. The duck I loved, not too fatty or dry. It was tangy and just a tad game, enough for you to know that it was duck and not chicken. The cassoulet I would pass on next time. It was quite heavy and heavily seasoned. For dessert l, we had the lemon tart, crème brûlée and chocolate mousse. All were superb. The lemon tart was nice clean finish to the meal. The creme was velvety smooth but the sugar had a tinge of bitterness to it which I didn't mind. The mousse was rich and oh so chocolately! Would def come back. Great portions and price point for French food in this part of town.

Just a lovely dinner with girlfriends and the meal and server was great. We had a 3 course dinner and balance of flavours was excellent!

I have a special love for French restaurants, they are romantic, great food, and a great ambiance. We have been to this restaurant many times, and they never disappoint us, always delicious food, liver paté, fois gras, onion soup, duck confit, snails, you name it. They also serve alcohol if you would like to enjoy your evening with a cocktail. We didn't as we do not drink, but having a glass of wine like a real French is a very unique experience as well. It is an excellent place to come if you're a couple, do not recommend it for single persons :p

Really sad to post this review however I feel I must have a platform to voice my frustrations since they were shut down over the phone when speaking to the manager this evening. I booked this restaurant for Valentine's Day a month ago and was so excited to go ever since. I was especially excited to try some of their most popular dishes such as the steak frites and the muscles both of which are heavily advertised on their Instagram account. However, two days before Valentine's Day, I received a call telling me there was a $85 set menu pp (no alcohol) and no à la carte menu available. None of the dishes I was looking forward to ordering were on the set menu and the price per person was significantly more than I expected to spend based on the a la carte menu prices. Because of these two things I ultimately decided to cancel my reservation and I'm now stuck without any plans for Valentine's Day and of course 99% of other restaurants have been booked out weeks ago. I was informed that the plan for a set menu was made a year ago however the information was only posted on the restaurants website two weeks (however why would I check the website when I've had my booking for a month?) and even then, I only received a call informing me of the mandatory set menu two days before the reservation. I ultimately feel it was very unreliable of the restaurant to make such a significant and material change to their Valentine's Day plans and only inform customers at such a late notice. On top of this I felt the manager was very combative with me over the phone which makes me think I was probably not the first person to phone with similar grievances. ultimately a very sad outcome as I was looking forward to this occasion for a long time and the memories that I would make on this evening but now I am left with no dinner reservation and a big disappointment.

Let me start by saying I planned our trip to Canada around my desire to eat amazing French food. They didn't disappoint, they knocked it out of the park. We made a reservation sometime around 6 the same night. We were In Surry/Langley. So we drove over the bridge. The drive was about a half hour. Parking is a little precarious. But after a few loops we snagged a close spot. Pros- Food was 10/10, every bite was exactly what I've been dreaming of. I haven't been to France in over a decade and I was just floored. *Beef tartare was the BEST I have ever had, hands down. I had it two or three times during this visit to Canada, but they had the best I've ever had. *We also had escargot, pork liver pâté, and the grilled squid. And the grilled squid was top notch. Dinner* my husband and I both respectively had the duck. He had duck confit, I had the duck breast (the special) WOW! Again we were just giddy and delighted by the flavor profile. Each dish was well throughout and crafted by obviously talented chefs. Both delectable in richness, but also well balanced with their respective accompaniments. Dessert* we had all three. Chocolate mousse, lemon tart and crème brûlée. I'm not much into chocolate but it wasn't overly sweet or bitter tasting. Seriously this restaurant was just amazing. Drinks* I had the best amaretto sour ever. And I'm not even sure what made me order it, it wasn't even on the menu. But I had a few... and I plan to call and ask how they made it. Lastly SERVICE! Our waiter was so polite and service was stellar. He answered all of our questions explained everything well, and Informed us when things would take a little more time. I would go back and I'll never forget how amazing our experience was. Steller staff, amazing cuisine. Priced well! *Take her somewhere special, and this is it!*

I picked this restaurant for my birthday as always had good memories. Unfortunately, tonight was all faux and very bougie. Despite ordering our dinner at 5:30 when served, we didn't receive our entrees till 6:40 and then while eating our dessert, we were told we needed to vacate our table. Didn't feel right and for that reason, we will spend our next $300 birthday dinner at Black & Blue where service experience is beyond compare.

Amazing French food in Vancouver. First, I would like to say that we came in a Tuesday night and it was crowded! Every table was filled and our reservation was for 8pm. Definitely would advise to make a reservation on their website to avoid any long waits. Our group got all your classic French bistro favorites like the escargot, steak tartare, duck confit and steak frites. Every item was delicious and well prepared. My favorites of the evening was the steak tartare and the duck confit. The steak tartare was melt in your mouth good! Delicate balance between tart and richness and the beef used in it was tender. The duck confit was nothing special, but it was the warm spinach and potato salad that came with it that made the dish stand out as a wonderful experience. I only wish I had room for some of the mussels people were getting. Maybe next time, for sure their will be a next time!

We had mussels, the main course mussel dish had a muddy taste to it, Not enough garlic. The main courses was alright. Nothing to write home about. We were brought the dessert menu and as soon as the dessert arrived we were informed that our table has been booked and the guests was sitting at the bar waiting. We felt lots of pressure to shove down our dessert and leave which made me very unhappy. I have boycotted a restaurant before for rushing me through my meal. It takes away enjoyment from having a meal with friends. I hope they hear what I am saying if they want return business.

A quaint French restaurant that isn't too high end for the yummy fancy food you get - quite the romantic ambiance for a restaurant located in the heart of Mount Pleasant! [Items Tried] *MUST TRY* Tartare de Boeuf (5/5) - $15 Taste: The beef tartare comes with toasted bread crackers - it's my personal favourite with a bit of a sour taste, yet creamy from the use of the mustard & egg yolk. It's definitely a different style compared with Italian style beef tartare, I'd say the flavours come more so from the creamy mix of the added ingredients vs the natural flavours of the beef itself, yet the beef texture makes this dish chewy & tender. Portion Size: Good portion for 2 people to share. Moules Marinieres (3/5) - $23 Taste: The white wine and garlic sauce was delicious, especially dipping the bread in it and scooping the sauce into the muscle shells! The dish came with a ton of muscles - the only thing was that it was a tad on the saltier side. Portion Size: Good portion for 2 people to share - served with fries & bread, this dish will fill you up! Mushroom Risotto (3/5) - $23 Taste: The mushroom risotto was creamy and filling, loaded with parm, mushrooms, and flavour. Beware though, this dish is quite heavy and I feel like this is better shared between two/three people vs. an individual entrée on its own. This dish had a hint of sour taste, though I'm not sure if it was supposed to be that way. Portion Size: Good portion for 2 people to share. French Onion Soup (4/5) - $13 Taste: The top layer is a THICK layer of baked, melted stringy cheese, crusty on the top and gooey underneath. Beneath that you taste the sweetness of the soup, in part due to the loaded carmelized onions. This soup was loaded with flavour and definitely very heavy, so again I'd go with sharing this soup and dipping bread into the soup as a nice neutralizing pairing. Portion Size: Individual portion size. [Value for Money] The ambiance and atmosphere definitely plays into the price. Quite a romantic, yet rustic, antique setting, but at the same time the prices at this establishment are definitely not as expensive as other French restaurants. For two people, we definitely ordered too much and two mains & an appetizer is definitely the perfect amount (if not too much) for two.

Les Faux Bo' is a cozy little French bistro that just hits the spot. The menu is simple and highlights many French classics like French Onion Soup, Coq Au Vin and duck confit! I am usually not a fan of French food because of its notoriously small portion sizes but you will leave LFB happy and content. You have to appreciate when a restaurant does not try to be too fancy and just does the simple things right - then again, it is a bistro. However the menu is priced very fairly and the service is excellent - absolutely nothing to complain about and will definitely come back! Be sure to look out for specials and tuck right in!

Bruno was an amazing server! The food was delicious as well. As a party of three including a vegetarian, we really enjoyed our dinner.

It was one of my best friends birthday, and we've decided to have a little celebration with dining out just the two of us. It was a rainy day, I called in to make a reservation int the morning and left a voicemail. I received a call back to confirm my appointment before their opening hour, which was a nice customer service. When we arrived, the waiter was friendly and kind to recommend some of their featured menu of the night and the appetizers. We chose one of the featured appetizer of the night, as well one form the menu. The Tarted Flambees (puff pastry tart) was definitely a winner. The pastry was so puffy and light, topped caramelized onions, smoke bacons, creme fraiche and ricotta. The sauce was made with mushrooms, caramelized onions and goat cheese. When you put everything in your mouth, it just melted within seconds. It was definitely the highlight of the meal. The rest of Main was pretty standard, steak frites was done as desired, and came with a lot of French fries, for people who liked fries, they will love it. I ordered the featured chicken with pearl onion, bacon, mushroom, braised with red wine sauce. The chicken was falling off the bones, which were very well cooked. However, I wasn't a bit fun of the red wine sauce. It wasn't impressive at all. Overall, the restaurant did a good job with covid cleaning and social distancing protocols. Menu was easy to understand with English descriptions. Maybe I'll give it a try another time when the timing is right.

Parking can be a challenge. There are number of restaurants on this street and parking is somewhat limited in the evening. We parked 1 1/2 blocks away on Kingsway beside the park. We had a lovely evening at Les Faux bourgeois. The tables are nicely spaced apart and the candles on the table along with the soft background music create a wonderful welcoming feel. . We BYOB since we thought their wine prices were too high. There is a $30.00 corkage fee. Our server was Shelby and she was very good at answering our questions and describing different menu items to us. She brought us an ice bucket for our wine said the restaurant had featured the wine before. We asked to have a bit of a time interval between our courses and Shelby assured us that there would be no problem with this. We started off with Forestiere Tarte and it was delicious. It is puff pastry filled with a good mixture mushrooms, caramelized onion and goat cheese. It was so good. Shelby allowed a decent break before serving our entrees. My husband had Steelhead salmon, roasted brussels sprouts with hazelnuts and a brown butter vinaigrette. I had steak frites with tenderloin steak and peppercorn sauce. My husband's salmon was cooked to perfection. The skin was crispy but the salmon itself was moist and flavourful. The Brussels sprouts were also very good. The sprouts were not overcooked and the hazelnuts were a great addition. They added so much to the dish. My steak was perfectly cooked as ordered and the peppercorn sauce was tasty. They served mayonnaise for the French fries. My only disappointment was the French fries. They were not crisp and they were cool. I like my fries crisp on the outside and hot on the inside. The meal was still very good and very good value for the money. It was a lovely evening. The service was very good. We really liked the ambiance and cozy feeling of the restaurant. The prices are very reasonable for the quality of the food. We would highly recommend.

The food was great, but the service was really disappointing and incredibly slow. We waited an hour between appetizer and main course. Everything was incredibly disorganized. Our reservation was for 7:30, but we weren't served dinner until after 9 PM. They wouldn't seat us at 7:30 because some of our guests didn't arrive until 7:35. Apparently there were a couple of walk-ins seated at the bar who wanted a table and the server promised them she could seat them. ( I heard the argument with the other server. ) I guess the lack of planning on timings resulted in everything being pushed back. Nobody minds waiting a few minutes to be seated, but asking people to starve until 9 PM was just a disaster. Bring a snack or make sure you order a couple of appetizers because you will wait an hour between your appetizer and your main.

First restaurant after dine in re-opened! This is my second visit here, and it was just as good as the first time! The staff is lovely, and their menu offers a good selection. We ordered 3 starters and 2 mains. We were too full to order desert, but maybe next time For starters we had the pate de campagne (pork pate), tartes flambees (puff pastry), and escargots. They were all good but my favorite was the puff pastry. I loved the texture it offered, the soft crunch from the pastry and the caramelized onions added then perfect sweetness to the tart. I highly recommend getting this. Mains we ordered the mussels and cassoulet. I wasn't expecting such a generous portion of the mussels but I don't think I could've finished just by myself. I loved the broth it was cooked in, and the fries that came with it was amazing too... I loved it. As for the cassoulet, I enjoyed how it had different types of meats so it wasn't boring but my favorite was still the mussels. All dishes were generous in portion, and they give you a lot of complimentary bread . I recommend here if you wanna go on a nice date or special occasion, the decor and ambiance is quite romantic.

Fantastic dinner! We started off with the must-try beef tartare and I had the cod with mussels and croquette while my friend had the duck salad! Everything was very fresh and delicious. One of my favorite French restaurants in Vancouver.

I think it was very exceptional to eat here. Almost gave it a 5 but i think it deserves a 4 more. Every of the food was good and splendid but it wasnt that amazing to reach my 5. For the price, it was worth it since the quality and the taste of the food reached its worthy. Totally recommend this for "cheaper" french food. Cheers!

Food was delicious and service was wonderful and attentive. We ordered the French onion soup, steak frites and duck confit and it was all so good. I got the duck confit and it was one of the bests I've had. Super tender and the flavor was just right-not overly salted and the salad it came with was really good too. Didn't get to try the dessert since we were too full. Definitely would come back. Yes it is a little hot in the restaurant but not too bad. She asked if we wanted to be seated by the AC or the window and we chose window.

We came here last week for a nice dinner with my fam, and was "welcomed" with the worst service I've encountered in recent years Don't get me wrong, most of their dishes were actually really good, but the server we had completely ruined the special occasion for us . Both of my two stars go to their food, and absolutely nothing for their service. Food wise: DUCK CONFIT 10/10 this was phenomenal!! I've had duck confit at many other spots and they always end up a little too salty or overcooked; this was perfection! BEEF TARTARE 9/10 super impressed with this dish! It tasted just like the beef tartare I had back in France, truly a must-order! MOULES FRITES 4/10 cooked in a creamy tomato sauce with chorizo, this would have been a WONDERFUL dish had it not been for the mussels' lack of freshness. This dish was also the catalyst to a series of rude af responses (see below)... We also ordered the coq au vin, brussel sprouts, Les steak frites, and the French onion soup. All of which were really delicious and a solid 7 to 8/10! ______________ ok if you guys are still with me, here's what happened. Essentially, our server had a RBF since the moment we sat down. Even when we placed our orders, he never bothered to smile once. Now I've worked in restaurants before and I know it's hard to be smiley all day long, so I brushed it off and focused on enjoying the food. When the mussels arrived, my mom already caught a waft and noted to me that it doesn't smell very fresh. After all of us had a couple pieces to try, we all agreed it tasted off, as if the mussels have been sitting in room temp for quite some time. We then informed our server of the issue, and clearly noted that 1) we're not looking for a replacement and 2) not looking to have it taken off our bill. All we wanted is to let them know, and that they should be more mindful in serving this to the next customer. The server's immediate response was (in these exact words) "our mussels are all sourced by the same place, from Salt Spring Island, so we ensure that it's very fresh". Mind you he also said it in a very rude and accusatory tone that got me so pissed off BRUH...just because it's sourced from a specific spot, doesn't mean that it will never go bad?! I then told him "well we're unable to eat this anymore as we're all feeling a little sick. Again, we don't need a replacement but it would be great if you guys can inspect this a little" He then brought it back to the kitchen and said that "he'll have the chef take a look" Couple minutes after, he came back out and said "the chef checked it and it's fine. Did you want something else?" I said "no we don't need a replacement, it just tastes very off-" "IT'S NOT OFF. We tried it and there's nothing wrong with it. Did you want to replace this with something else?" he cuts me off. No apologies, straight rudeness. "no thank you." I responded, feeling the most anger I've felt in a restaurant in ages. ______ Now I know I may not be a Michelin food reviewer, but I know when seafood doesn't taste fresh. Not to mention my entire family all had a taste and agreed that it tasted...DEAD. If I was paying $10 for a bowl of noodles at an Asian restaurant, I know to not expect the best service, and couple sassy comments here and there. But this is a legitimate french restaurant with entrées priced at $26+, I think it's fair to expect some level of decency in their treatment! Service-wise, I definitely received the faux end of their bourgeoisie. Oh and to make things interesting, the table next to us (also a table of Asians, not sure if there's anything notable about that) also had some issues where they complained that a dish was too salty, and the same waiter just straight up told them "this is how the dish should be". We all agreed that it will be unlikely for us to come back again, no matter how delicious that duck confit was ... Vent over :)

The food is phenomenal here. Great value, portion sizing and absolutely delicious. Servers are quick and happy to answer questions. People complaining obviously don't know that sometimes people have bad days or are understaffed. I will come here EVERY time I visit. We ordered- French Onion soup- 5/5 Escargot- 4/5 ( better with soft bread) Beef Tartare- 5/5 Steak frites - 5/5 ( peppercorn and au jus sauce as recommended by our server) Lemon Tart- 5/5 ( perfectly tart). The atmosphere is wonderful. It's small enough to hear the bustling but enough arm space so you're not on top of another table.

This place has good food. Even good value. (Translation: good quality considering the price paid.) The meat and fish are very good. The escargot is especially delightful, as it is served in chunks in a jar with bread on the side instead of the usual shells in a silver plate. The six of us shared six dishes, some of which included the Moules Marineires, Truite Saumonee, Canard Confit, Mushroom Risotto, et Le Steaks Frites. Tous sont magnifiques. If I must pick one, I'll say the mussels is the best in quality and value. The portion is quite reasonable if you order it as an entree. I usually would share such a dish anyway. The 3-star​ rating, therefore,​ comes more from the augmented products: the service and the atmosphere. I have dined on both sides, the smaller bistro and the restaurant side. I find the restaurant side just too cramped and too noisy to relax. Some may call it cozy but I find it just too tight. The Bistro side is much better in terms of noise and it while offers less ambience, I don't miss what the other side is offering. It is, however, still cramped but compared to restaurants in busy cities in Europe and Asia, it is not bad; but since we're in Vancouver, I think they can settle for fewer​ seats and more relaxation. The service mainly came from my visit to the restaurant side when we arrived one night and it was full. We knew we would have to wait but the hostess? ​waitress? didn't seem to care about us. First, we had to wait for quite a while before anyone even acknowledged us, and then the lady who has finally greeted​ us, said we will have to wait an hour. But that's not the problem. It's the way she told us. Oftentimes, HOW you say something is more powerful than WHAT you say. So yeap, it was how she spoke to us that turned us off. We only waited outside because we drove a long way.

The place is amazing, the service is really good. the only thing was that we didn't like to Onion Soup because it had a bacon flavor that empower the real onion soup broth. Other than that is was an amazing experience.

Got takeout from here on Saturday and it was awesome! They're currently offering a limited menu (check on their website). Called ahead to order and arranged pickup time. Only one person allowed in the restaurant at a time so I waited outside until it was my turn. There was one person in the restaurant taking calls and another helping customers/doing cash - I thought it was a good procedure that respected social distancing. I think they waited until we arrived to package up the food because when we got it home it was fresh and still really hot! I had duck confit which came with a warm salad, it was so good. My partner had the steak frites, his only comment was that there could have been more fries. I will definitely be coming back here for takeout!

A lot of our friends love this place, so we finally decided to try it. We didn't make resos on a Thursday night, and got in right away. We ordered the mussels, steak frites and steak with pomme frites. My goodness, if you want a delicious , melt in your mouth steak, try these. And the portions are fantastic for what you pay. You know that butter is used freely and generously in the dishes...part of what makes them so delicious! They also provide a basket of warm bread with more....butter! A guilty evening truly enjoyed! PS-prepare to listen extra carefully to the waiters/waitresses as they mostly have a heavy French accent, oui oui!

This restaurant was phenomenal. We were lucky enough to get seats at the bar on a whim during our weekend in Vancouver, and the food was superb. I am picky about French food after living in Marseille, but the quality was amazing. The vegetarian French onion soup was a highlight, as well as the canard confit.

I had an amazing dinner here just last night. Not only was service perfect, but the food was all super delicious and the prices were reasonable. I had a great time here for dinner the year before, but last night was totally outstanding! First of all, I'd definitely recommend making a reservation. They get quite busy at night, even for an early dinner. However, their bar seems to be open for walk-ins if no tables are available. The inside is very quaint and what you'd imagine a French bistro to look like. I also think that the ambiance is quite romantic as well. Pork rilette ($10): This is an excellent appetizer to share. It came with a huge portion of pork rilette spread, some pickled veggies, mustard, and crostini. There was so much pork rilette we used the rest on the fresh bread on the table (which was also very good). Steak frites ($23): I had this medium rare and it came out cooked perfectly, sliced, with herb butter on top. The butter was slightly tart. This was so good! I asked for a side of salad instead of fries, and I found this to be a great lighter pairing than fries. It was dressed with a creamy but light dressing. Veal Shank Parmentier ($23): This was probably our least favourite dish of the night. It was a veal ragout with mushrooms and spinach, on a gravy sauce, and a mashed potato on top. There was cheese melted on top of the mashed potato. It was pretty good, but quite a heavy dish and not quite as flavourful as it could be. Chocolate fondant with passionfruit marshmallow ($9): The cake was so decadent with crispy notes on the bottom, and it matched well with the creme anglaise on the plate. I didn't think that the passionfruit marshmallow matched, but it was good on its own. Near the end of our meal, the host came by and offered us a digestif each, because earlier I had asked for a table closer to the inside since I could feel the draft from the door. None were available, which was fine, but it was a super nice and thoughtful touch to offer us port wine to warm us up! It was a tasty end to our meal. I remember the dinner I had here last year was also excellent. The French onion soup and canard confit were both really good. I would pass on the escargot, though, not because it wasn't tasty, but because it wasn't the baked kind. Our waiter was always attentive and checked on us with each course. He made great recommendations and answered questions about the daily features. He also made sure that our waters were always filled. I will definitely be back! I want to try their other entrees soon - everything sounds so good. This will be one of my go-to restaurants for a nice night out!

Amazing French cuisine perfect for fancy occasions without having to spend a fortune! This restaurant is located along Kingsway and looks like a cute little neighbourhood restaurant from the outside. However it's super cozy, proper yet fun on the inside filled with families, couples, or groups of friends catching up. They have an assortment of dishes on their menu ranging from seafood, duck, beef based dishes as well as some vegetarian options! I came here with my family and have been doing so for quite a few years ordering almost the exact same things and sharing the dishes so that we could try everything. We ordered the mussels with fries, shrimp and scallops special, beef tenderloin, and the duck confit. The mussels and fries were amazing, they came in a light cream sauce filled with onions garlic and parsley and came with about 25 or more large mussels for only $25. It was amazing and by far my favourite dish. The fries were super crispy and light and came with a yummy aoli that you often catch yourself using all of. Pro tip! Ask for extra bread so that you can mop up all the broth from the mussels afterwards - FRICKEN AMAZING!! The shrimp and scallops special was great, the scallops were super juicy and the shrimps were quite plump. They were served on a bed of lentils and mixed veggies which were quite tasty. The beef tenderloin was SUPER tender, we had it done medium and it was still amazingly soft. They came with scalloped potatoes and mixed veggies which were very light and complimented the beef very well. The duck confit has been a staple in our dinner order since we started coming hear. The duck is SO tender and soft and the skin is super crispy giving such a great contrast of textures. It comes on a bed of greens and slaw mix which cuts through the richness of the fatty duck super well. Overall the total for 5 dishes (we got two orders of mussels) after tax and tip was $150. $30 for dinner is extremely great for the quality of food we were served. Be sure to make a reservation before coming here!!

What a cute bistro with amazing service and perfect for a little date night! My boyfriend and I came here to enjoy some dinner and thought everything was fantastic. Portions were huge, we were stuffed after a couple appetizers and could barely finish our mains! My only little complaint is that we ordered the steak frites with the tenderloin add-on and asked for medium rare but was served rare instead. We informed our waiter who took it back for us to fix the issue but they re-seared our steak which had been cut a couple slices so we now had a half well-done steak and a half medium-rare steak on the uncut portion. My favourite dish and my biggest recommendation would be their French onion soup. onion soup is my favourite soup and this place really hit the spot. Although, I would recommend you guys to get the vegetarian option as they do put bacon inside the onion soup which was a bit unexpected from the traditional French onion soup. But if you're looking for an extra kick, the one with the bacon is the way to go! Our waiter was great and gave us a delicious wine pairing that was phenomenal too!
