"Inside Les Halles market in Narbonne, in the south of France, a palatial gâteau of ironwork that dates to 1901, some stallside theater is happening. From the counter of Chez Bebelle, proprietor Gilles Belzons—a large wolfish figure who once played rugby for Narbonne—picks up a megaphone and hollers across to the charcutier opposite. In return, he receives two bags of meat, thrown high above the customers and into Belzons's waiting hands, ready to become the next order of steak bavette."

Super great market full of locals. We came to Narbonne for the grand buffets and and spend some time here on the Sunday. The market has plenty of bars and is pleasantly not to crowded. The breakfast options are endless. Some locals have wine and cold meat platters and others cheese platters or croissants. Many come here to buy there bread and vegetables and then have food in one of the many bars. Absolutely recommended to have a wine with locals and practise a bit of french whilst test the local snacks and wines.

The market is a delightful hub of local flavors, brimming with fresh, vibrant fruits and an array of artisanal cheeses. The vendors are exceptionally warm and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. One of the best aspects is the opportunity to sample products before making a purchase, allowing you to discover unique tastes. However, adding a dedicated corner with tables and chairs would enhance the atmosphere, providing a comfortable space for tourists to savor their lunch and fully immerse themselves in the local culture.

Most stores closed on Monday at noon. See pictures. Don’t waste your time.

This is a great example of a food market. It had fresh produce including veggies, meat, cheeses and fish to cook later, or you could buy food to eat whilst there including pastries and tapas. We had a lovely hour on a Saturday morning drinking coffee, eating bagels and pastries and took some rotisserie chicken back for dinner!

Nice market with variety of foods, I tried bakery, cheese, some meats looks like pepperoni etc. all good but it closes at 2pm so better to go early to grab a table and eat there. There were so many people sitting there eating and drinking beer or wine etc.

A nice covered permanent market with a variety of shops. Fresh fruit, fresh fish fresh bread, but also pizza etc. You can find here good quality food. It is possible to eat here as well.

This is the opening of the Christmas Market in Narbonne. They offered hot choco, coffee and of course hot wine! They had very nice ambience!

They were elected most beautiful halles of France, which seems like a bit of a stretch. But nevertheless it was clean, nice and cheap. So I would definitely recommend peeking in, it's right in the city center anyway...

Yelp
Amazing covered market! Tons of stalls with cheese, olives, tapenade, meat, fish, fruits and vegetables. Even a rotisserie chicken stall and a bio vendor -which means organic in French. Prices seemed reasonable and everything was fresh. Vendors friendly too. A few great places to eat, tables set up right in the market. Even a spot with platter full of fresh oysters. A must visit in Narbonne!

Yelp
Great food selection, but the best part is fighting for a seat at one of the many counters, and having some of the market's food cooked for you with a glass of local wine.
