A Food and Wine Lover’s Guide to the Loire Valley | Eater
"Les Halles de Tours is a covered food market in the heart of Tours that has had a few different iterations over the past 150 years. Now, it’s an incredibly successful market that’s open every day except Monday. Spend the day immersing yourself in regional specialties and local products and shop like a local. Get to know the passionate vendors selling fresh produce, spices, artisanal cheese, charcuterie, seafood, meat, bread, pastries, chocolate, and wine. Pick up a few things for a picnic, or get some charcuterie to bring home." - Lee Musho
Lots of fresh fruit, meat & foodstuffs. Perhaps a bit pricier , but the quality is probably higher. Bought myself a beef bahn-mi …on a baguette! 🙂 when in France….

What a fantastic indoor market. We bought so many things to bring back ex. Cheeses and wine. There's also an artisan chocolate shop too.

What a great find on a Tuesday morning! The best way to enjoy the Halles is to walk into it and take a whiff of every stand. Food is artfully highlighted. Beef, veal, poultry are respectfully displayed. Cheeses galore almost got me drunk just smelling them all! So now it's your turn to visit the halles in Tours and its surrounding..... It is quite a beautiful town!

I want to come back and spend more time here! An amazing collection of pâtisseries, boulangeries, charcuteries, boucheries, clothing shops, and cafés. Tours is amazing as a whole, but if it's a rainy day, Les Halles will be a fun way to avoid the raindrops!

Yelp
This market is great!! From its appearance I didn't think it was a market but I am very glad I went in anyway! There are lots of options: meat counters, desserts and pastries, boulangeries (bakeries), fresh produce!
I went for lunch and got avocado and tomato from one counter and then sliced bread from another and had a very fresh and cheap lunch!
