Les Mazots du Clos

My recent experience at the hotel LE MAZOTS DU CLOS, located in Villar-sur-Ollon, canton of Vaud, Switzerland, was unfortunately quite disappointing. I have been a frequent visitor to this town since 2021, traveling regularly over the past four years. However, during my latest visit in May 2025, I had to choose this hotel because many of my usual accommodations in the area were closed due to the off-season. My expectations were high, based on the photographs and descriptions of the hotel available on platforms like Booking.com. However, the reality fell significantly short of what was depicted. The hotel is small, with about ten to twelve rooms. The room we were assigned appeared to be a later addition to the original building, lacking views of the Alps, and was instead facing the back and situated directly above the kitchen. This resulted in constant noise and strong odors both when exiting the room and when opening the windows. The room had poor sound insulation and lacked adequate mechanisms to block morning sunlight, making restful sleep difficult. Another negative aspect was the pool, which was empty and under maintenance during our stay, eliminating one of the main reasons I had selected this hotel. Additionally, the spa was disappointing—poorly maintained, unattended, and accumulating trash. Regarding the restaurant, despite its supposed prestige, the value for money was disappointing. The breakfast was particularly poor: service was slow, the coffee mediocre (prepared using a standard Nespresso machine), and we even saw frozen croissants being taken out of the freezer for immediate baking. Initially, we weren’t offered a menu; instead, toast and fruit were brought directly without request. Additionally, we noticed some staff members who did not adhere to basic food safety standards, wearing excessive jewelry and having excessively long fingernails. The open kitchen caused food odors to permeate our clothing. Concerning general maintenance, the room exhibited significant deficiencies. I found it particularly unpleasant that the shower used a basic fabric curtain, similar to those from Ikea, which is inappropriate for a hotel aspiring to a certain standard. In summary, LE MAZOTS DU CLOS provided a negative experience, marked by maintenance issues, inadequate service, and a clear discrepancy between its advertised image and reality.

The perfect wedding location! If I could give more than 5 stars, I absolutely would. We were searching for the perfect location to host our wedding, and Mazots du Clos exceeded every expectation. This venue truly has it all: an enchanting setting for aperitifs, a delicious dinner, an unforgettable party, and stunning hotel rooms for our family to stay in. We stayed at Mazots du Clos for the entire weekend, from Friday to Sunday, with our whole family. Having the entire venue to ourselves made the experience incredibly intimate and special. The service is absolutely incredible—friendly, proactive, and attentive. Before we even thought to ask for something, it was already taken care of! The food is exquisite, with flavors that delighted everyone. The spa is luxurious, impeccably clean, and the perfect place to unwind after the wedding day. Breakfast was a highlight of our stay. I can confidently say it included the best pain au chocolat I’ve ever had! :-) The party in the bar with our wedding guests was simply magical. Located just below the restaurant, the atmosphere transformed into something vibrant and unforgettable—a perfect end to our celebration. Mazots du Clos gave us a fairytale wedding. The location of this venue is stunning and was selected after looking at numerous venues in Villars for our wedding. Mohamed and Cécile went above and beyond to make our day wonderful and provided a personalised wedding package with their attention to detail and delivery second to none. We couldn’t have picked a better venue for our special day as the staff were incredible from the cleaners to the service staff and the chef. The team provided a five star experience but were so welcoming and accommodating for any requests as nothing was too much trouble. The food is exceptional with their chef creating visual works of art that taste as good as they look. The spa area is beautiful with stunning panoramic views and the accommodation is traditional mountain chic with everything you need provided. They also have a unique jazz bar downstairs and a lovely terrace outside to relax. There is everything you need in one place with excellent, friendly staff and we would highly recommend this venue for a summer/winter vacation or for an exclusive party.

Beautiful property and nice rooms but we were a little bit underwhelmed by the service and personal service level. Upon arrival there was no one to be found and we had to walk around the property with our luggage to search for someone and then we had to call for the check-in. The check-in process was rushed and they quickly showed us our room - which was beautiful and offered a nice view. What was missing in our opinion was the personal touch and hospitality level. Everything was nicely decorated but the atmosphere was cold. Unfortunately nobody asked us how we were or how we liked our stay or any other interaction by the management. This was a bit of a shame for this beautiful property and its great reviews. One small note regarding the spa, the indoor jacuzzi was too cold and we were not able to use it. The food in the restaurant was tasteful (though expensive) and the breakfast was very nice.

What a beautiful little place, in a beautiful little town! Firstly, we had to reschedule our visit due to COVID but nothing was too much trouble for Les Mazots. Having never been to Switzerland and not being skiers either, my wife and I didn't know what to expect, so the views from the room and the town in general were breathtaking. Add to that, a spotless hotel with charm and friendliness in abundance and you can't go wrong. Especially when you can have a glass of Prosecco, sitting in the heated pool, looking over the Alps! Every staff member we came across was warm and friendly and always pleased to help. We would definitely stay at Les Mazots Du Clos again, the location, the staff, the hotel.......all perfect. This is a very quaint boutique hotel, located so conveniently from everything, the view of the mountains is amazing, the diversity of saunas, amazing breakfast! but what truly makes it amazing is its staff!!!!! Mohamed the Manager went out of his way to help us, and trust me we are a tough picky crowd, I wished he would join our team back home ! from Cecil, to Meryl at the reception, to my lovely Pascal, Dian " DD" and Monique at breakfast, Cristian spoiled my husband in every possible way, and last but not least the most loving and caring cleaning crew I ever encountered, Vanessa & Paula and the lovely turkish girls, were amazingly loving, caring and so thought full,
