Given the restaurant’s Michelin Bib Gourmand recommendation, our expectations were understandably elevated. Regrettably, what followed was one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have encountered, not only in Brussels, but internationally.
Our reservation was for 21:30 on a Friday evening. Upon arrival, we were immediately informed that ordering starters was not possible, as “that kitchen is closed.” Only after persistent insistence were we reluctantly permitted to order the foie gras. This alone set an unfortunate tone for the evening.
We ordered two cocktails (a Campari Spritz and an Aviation), the saffron risotto, the vol-au-vent, and a bottle of wine. When the drinks arrived, neither was correct: instead, we were served an Aperol Spritz and a “Virgin Lady Cheeks”—a non-alcoholic cocktail neither of us had ordered. When questioned, the waiter was unable to explain what the drink was or why it had been served.
The foie gras that followed was, without exaggeration, the poorest execution of the dish I have ever experienced—poor in texture, balance, and flavour.
The low point of the evening, however, was the vol-au-vent. Visually unappealing to the point of disbelief and utterly inedible, it was by far the worst dish I have ever been served in a restaurant. When we raised this with the staff, rather than acknowledging the issue, we were met with resistance and an insistence that the dish was, in fact, “good.”
We requested the bill shortly thereafter, only to find an unexplained charge of €5 for half a litre of water—water that we neither ordered nor received.
The sole redeeming element of the evening was the saffron risotto, which was genuinely excellent. Unfortunately, this single bright spot could not compensate for the broader failures in both cuisine and service.
In summary, despite its Michelin endorsement, this restaurant delivered a profoundly disappointing experience marked by poor service, incorrect orders, substandard food, and an unwillingness to accept legitimate criticism. I strongly recommend that prospective diners reconsider before choosing to dine here.
