Les Terrasses de Lyon

"Perched up on the higher ground of Fourvière, this Renaissance convent now houses a charming hotel and restaurant with a panoramic glass-paned dining room that affords guests a splendid view over the rooftops of Vieux Lyon, whatever the season: it seems you can almost reach out and touch St Jean Cathedral. This place required a chef with plenty of vision! Enter David Delsart, who has mastered all aspects of French cuisine. He often puts a regional spin on his dishes, smoking his pigeon (or lobster) over Beaujolais vine shoots, cooking whitefish from Lake Geneva, salmon trout from Isère and snails from the Lyonnais mountains. The classic desserts are beautifully made: charlotte, profiteroles, warm soufflé…" - Michelin Inspector

Great view, decent food (nothing mind-blowing though for the price), great wines. However service was VERY slow. We had a 6 course menu and it took 3.5 hours (!) from the moment we arrived till we could leave.

A wonderful cuisine for a wonderful view, in a wonderful setting. Exceptional food (asparagus and Rouget.) Very interesting choice of wines, with great advice. Be sure to book early to secure the seats near the veranda. Service is welcoming and friendly.

There are actually 3 restaurants: terrasse, restaurant, bistro Terrasse is on the roof, open to the wind, and has a great view. Good food, good cocktails. Entrance is through the bistro, then take elevator up. Restaurant is one floor below but indoor with glass windows. 1 Michelin star. Entrance is uphill. Bistro is bottom floor. No view. Entrance is downhill. Management should really make all this more clear on their website and better signs.

We went on a Saturday night. The restaurant was full. The ambience was a little bit too formal for me, kind of old money style. Al the waiting staff wearing suits and ties… Also you could not see the view of Lyon as the glass windows reflected the lights from the restaurant. That was disappointing for me Maybe it would be better to go during daylight. The food was amazing and the quantity was pretty decent too. We got the 130€ menu and the 70€ one. Overall it’s a good restaurant to go for the food and not the views.

The restaurant was terribly understaffed, the atmosphere was loud and chaotic. The staff was inattentive (beyond what one comes to expect in a France). There They often left food lying around on furniture and partitions for long periods of time before serving off temperature. There was no set wine pairing. For three to dine on the 4 course menu we were there for 4 hours with large gaps between courses. The wait staff tended to gather in the entry way conspicuously spending a large amount of time jesting and interacting with the POS system on their phones. We were not offered digestif. Would not recommend. Cannot understand how this place obtained a Michelin star. Very disappointed to have been lead astray.

Nice place! Terrific view over the city. Nicely decorated dining room with ample space between the tables for privacy. Smooth and efficient service, food of course excellent at a good price point. Great location!

Google
we had a really lovely evening ordering the tasting menu and a bottle of bubbles at the somm’s recommendation. all of the dishes were thoughtful, creative, and well executed (the onion foam and the quenelle were standouts). the service was friendly, very team oriented. the dining room has a quiet, soft lit ambience, with enough energy to be exciting but subdued enough to feel private.

Google
Great service, nice people, very worth it but be prepared to pay a lot for drinks. Actually a lot of food for the average person. Wonderful view of the whole city of Lyon. It's a great experience of Lyon cuisine. All the food is prepared well and explained thoughtfully.

Yelp
I came to this restaurant with a few friends expecting a wonderful evening. We left before ordering any food. I was shocked to see that they adhere to archaic standards and provide men and women different menus. All the men at our table received menus WITH prices, and all the women at our table received menus WITHOUT prices. We thought this was a simple mistake, but when we asked our waiter, he confirmed the restaurant indeed does give men and women different menus because they expect the men pay for the women's meals, since men make more money. One of the men at the table proceeded to explain that his fiance actually made more money than anyone at the table and that SHE would be paying for the meal that evening. The server LAUGHED and said he didn't believe it. We immediately paid for our drinks and left without ordering dinner. I will not spend my money at a restaurant that adheres to a sexist policy. I would be happy to give this place second chance if they ever decide to eliminate this outdated and chauvinistic practice.

Yelp
This restaurant had a lot of potential but unfortunately I was unable to dine here. They use an out-dated and sexist menu whereupon women are given different menus than their partners. These menus have no prices, thus assuming that women will not be paying. We will be more than happy to come back if the restaurant eliminates this policy for all patrons.

Yelp
Terasses de Lyon more than upholds the city's reputation for gastronomic excellence. The sommelier expertly paired mostly regional wines with a delectable tasting menu. Service was well timed, and the staff elaborated the courses and wine pairings in English to enhance our experience. The decor is traditional (feels dated) but so what. A memorable meal to be sure!

Yelp
Les Terrasses de Lyon is a gem. From beginning to end, it was a wonderful, relaxing experience. Every dish was an artistic feast for the eyes. Every bite and sip was delicious. The service was impeccable. The view was outstanding. They easily and without fuss tailored our meals to accommodate our allergies. Of all the fine restaurants we tried, if we only pass through Lyon in the future, this is the restaurant we'd want to return to.
