Montreal’s Ice Cream Roster Grows With Some New Additions | Eater Montreal

"I spotted a new ice cream parlour and café called Les Tropiques slated to open in late May or early June on Rachel Street, just across from Lafontaine Park; Montrealers will recognize the spot as the former home of trailblazing Plateau cocktail bar Le Lab, which shuttered in August 2018 after a 10-year run when the building’s landlords refused to renew the lease (Le Lab’s second location in the Quartier des Spectacles remains open)." - Valerie Silva

I’ve passed by this little ice cream shop so many times but there’s always a huge line, finally got to try it! I ordered chocolate with amaretto and vanilla with raspberry, and both were super creamy and tasted homemade. Not overly sweet, just the way I like it! My partner got the vanilla milkshake and loved it too. Highly recommend!

Very good! We arrived after they closed and they still served my entire group! Great service (with the cutest doggie helper) and good ice cream. Recommend the vanilla raspberry ice cream.

Passing by this little cute ice cream corner store several time and always saw that it always has a long line everytime i passed by. Give it a try today and it is really good. The ice creams are all homemade, it tastes good and there are some flavours that are unique too such as lavender&honey, one of the flavour that I took. The people that works in there are really kind and patients to me when I asked few things and did some taste testing. This place also right in front of the Parc La Fontaine and you can bring your ice cream and do strolls or hang out at the park, especially when the weather is good. Not to mention that they also have a very cute dog and if you are lucky to be able to see it.

some of the best ice cream i have ever had! must try the strawberry and vanilla flavors, the waffle cone is outstanding, even the sprinkles are so good. I also loved the salted caramel dip on soft serve!

The ice cream is good, but the staff could put measures in place to organize the line a bit better. When we visited, people were clumping around the menu and cutting into the line, which made an already long wait to get ice cream a bit more unpleasant. That being said, there is a ton of variety of flavours and different types of ice cream, and the staff were friendly, but the disorganized line and long wait diminished our experience.

Amazing ice cream and sorbet. I always get the swirl soft serve and it’s the best I’ve ever had. Say hi to the shop’s adorable dog while you’re there too!

Highly recommend passionfruit sorbet it’s the best one I’ve ever had it’s super sour and not too sweet! A year ago they also had a dairy pineapple ice cream which was amazing but they haven’t had it this year.

The owner was super friendly with customers and I highly recommend u to come. It’s worth the try since the prices are reasonable and affordable . And did I mention, the proportions are amazingly LARGE!!!! If you want to come try icecream that’s super tasty, I suggest u come to the tropiques🦄🐇!! It’s located near Lafontaine parc. P.S. very good bike ride if u wanna bike there, many nice places to explore in plateau mont royal

Yelp
The lilac esthetic of this icecream shop makes it impossible to miss! People were lining up on an excruciatingly hot summer day to get scoops in cones of all shapes and sizes. And yes they have vegan options, the vanilla strawberry is one of the best but they also have chocolate, vanilla and coffee, all organic if you care for that.
