Where To Eat And Drink Around Harvard

"Boston is home to some outstanding Vietnamese food. Most of it is concentrated in Dorchester, a neighborhood that’s just eight stops away from you on the Red Line. But if you can’t make it out there, Le’s on JFK isn’t a bad stand-in. The menu at this casual spot is enormous, and while most people head right for the pho (not a bad choice - it’s a nice, rich broth) you should try some of their bigger entrees, too, like the ginger chicken." - dan secatore

Le's - Review - Harvard Square - Boston - The Infatuation

"Le’s is a cheap Vietnamese place in that big, brick strip mall-type building on the corner of JFK and Mt. Auburn in Harvard Square. It’s almost always busy, usually with a lot of Harvard students filling both levels of the tiered seating set-up. Just about everyone around you will be eating some kind of pho, but if you’re not in the mood, the crispy spring rolls over vermicelli noodles are a nice alternative." - Dan Secatore

One of the most legit 🤌🏾 🤌🏾 Vietnamese restaurants I’ve ever eaten at. The food was so well balanced and season. The seafood was so fresh. Usually I ask for add-ons like soy sauce, salt or chili oil but not here the flavors lack nothing! The service was fast and friendly 🥰 Tin our server was excellent! This place a a hidden gem 💎 I can’t wait to come back here again 🤤

Came here for dinner and it was great. All the dishes were fresh and delicious, whilst being reasonably priced. I highly recommend the caramelised fish and the avocado smoothie. They were both excellent. Regardless the food here is amazing and the prices are too - highly recommended, and hope to come back soon!

I went here with my bf on the weekend, its hidden in a food hall. The atmosphere was very nice, we tried Pa Thai and shrimps&pork noodle. They are insanely delicious👌, the Pa Thai was so flavorful and the shrimp noodle was refreshing with the veggies. 10000000% gonna visit again.

Le's Vietnamese Restaurant is a long-standing restaurant that I have fond memories of as a child, and came back on a recent visit to the area. It is located within a mini shopping center, with spacious seating for large groups or small parties. We were seated nearly instantly, and had our order taken quite quickly. The food had also came out quite quick as well. Staff were friendly and were circulating around and checked in many times. We got the XL Special Beef Pho, which was a good size for the price. The soup wasn't too hot, with a lot of flavor that isn't too overwhelming. We got white noodles in ours, and there was decent portions for meat in the bowl as well. We also tried the grilled beef summer rolls, which were on the smaller side but still really good. It went well with the peanut sauce and was wrapped nicely and didn't fall apart quick. Overall, it has been consistently a great experience here, and would highly recommend checking out.

I have to say, this place serves the best spring rolls I’ve had at any Vietnamese restaurant in Boston. They’re exactly my style—packed with flavor and just the right amount of heat from the generous peppers. Every bite was incredibly tasty!

This is my 3rd time coming here, and I just say the food quality & taste is consistent every time. There’s not many good Vietnamese restaurants in Cambridge, so I was super happy to find this gem. Trang was our server, very attentive and professional. All the food came out quickly, and all tasted so delicious. Definitely recommend this place to everyone who visits the area.

This restaurant is genuinely one of the best places I’ve visited at during my time in the U.S. Of course, everyone has different tastes, so others may have different opinions, but for someone like me who loves soups and broths, it’s truly top-notch. The beef noodle always amazes me with its incredible flavor. I always order the extra-large size because it comes with a generous portion of beef, tendon, tripe, and other cuts. I wish they sold rice separately, as I’d love to mix it into the broth at the end, but unfortunately, they don’t offer it.

We have been loyal customers of this restaurant for years, but our recent visit was an absolute nightmare. The quality has plummeted to an appalling level. We ordered a vermicelli bowl and pho, specifically requesting lean meat in the pho. Shockingly, the pho arrived in just five minutes, filled with nauseating, fatty chunks that emitted a foul odor. My vermicelli bowl took an excruciating 35 minutes to arrive and was drenched in grease, made with substandard ingredients, and utterly tasteless. When we addressed these issues with the male server, he was dismissive, unapologetic, and refused to replace our meals. The female manager’s response was equally infuriating; she stood there with a vacant smile, seemingly unable to comprehend English, and walked away without offering any resolution. This establishment has deteriorated into one of the worst Vietnamese restaurants in Massachusetts. The service is atrocious, the food is inedible, and the management is incompetent. Avoid this place at all costs!

Yelp
Amazing food and value for price!! Come here early to avoid wait on weekend peak hours. I loved the pho broth and the grilled pork summer roll. The grilled meat platter was okay. Service was extremely considerate and kind even when they were busy. They made a minor confusion about a small side request and insisted to refund us, which was completely unnecessary but shows how much they cared!

Yelp
Ash: the noodles were yummy and saucy! soft and plenty of tofu. the veggies were cooked well and the thai tea was the right amount of sweetness. Fish: the vermicelli noodles were very good and i really liked the pork, shrimp, and spring roll combo. the service was quick and attentive, and the takeout boxes were really cool with little metal handles. it's a nice casual dinner spot if you're craving viet food!

Yelp
Had lunch here on a Wednesday at approx. 12:30 or so after a Harvard campus tour. We were greeted and seated almost immediately. The restaurant was not full yet when we arrived but the lunch crowd was coming in. There were 3 adults and a teenager in our party. Menu is online- scan the barcode to browse their offerings. We ordered a shrimp toast, summer roll with shrimp, three large phos, and one lemongrass chicken plate. For drinks we had iced waters and iced Vietnamese coffee and salty plum soda. Service was friendly enough but rather slow. Looks like there were only 2 servers and the owner, maybe? She's behind the bar making drinks and cashing people out. Our server memorized everything and amazingly got the orders correct. The appetizers came pretty quickly. Shrimp toast was very crispy! But could barely taste any shrimp. Summer roll was very loosely wrapped, mostly rice vermicelli, no pork, small slice of shrimp. The peanut/hoisin dipping sauce was yummy tho. The phos were pretty good, the ratio of noodles to meat was just right. I added meatballs to mine and they were bouncy. The lemongrass chicken arrived looking like a dry curry chicken. The kid enjoyed it but it could have done with more meat and less bell peppers or onions. My iced coffee was strong! The salty plum drink came a little late, after everything has been served and we had to remind them. The prices seemed reasonable at first but the bill totaled $91 and I was a little taken aback. Was the meal worth that much? Probably not. But it's good enough to satisfy a craving for some Asian food and to catch up with a friend I haven't seen in 10 years!

Yelp
It was my first time trying authentic Vietnamese food and I loved it! The place is affordable and busy with lots of college students in the area rotating through which creates a lively atmosphere for dinner. We ordered spring rolls, beef summer rolls, shrimp summer rolls, and their special beef pho (large). I absolutely loved everything, but I have to say the summer rolls were my favorite since I wasn't expecting to LOVE them this much! If you're in the area - I recommend checking the place out and if you've been, let me know in the comments your thoughts! Check out my Instagram reel of this place for the food pics @foodwithsusie

Yelp
I'm surprised this place doesn't have more reviews! I really enjoyed the pho I had here and the serving was very large for $12. The noodles were plenty and the broth was incredibly flavorful. The meat itself wasn't very flavorful but overall I enjoyed and service was incredibly fast.

Yelp
Food is pretty average, service is horrible. Waited long for a table and even longer to place order and getting the bill. It's not even Friday night or weekend at the time of visit and customer flow is not too bad either, but in total I spent 1.5 hours eating alone at this restaurant .

Yelp
The noodles in the pho were extremely overcooked and broke apart easily. I was extremely excited to have Vietnamese food, but was disappointed at the quality of what was being served here. I suggest going elsewhere for food if you're looking for quality Vietnamese food.

Yelp
I had a really good experience at this restaurant! The food was very nice (I had large bowl of pho) and reasonably-priced. The restaurant has a very pleasant atmosphere and decor. The staff were all friendly and attentive and the service was prompt. Hard to fault it tbh and I would definitely recommend to anyone that likes pho and/or Vietnamese food!

Yelp
Vietnamese cuisine is my favorite type of food - this was possibly the worst Vietnamese restaurant I've ever eaten in. I ordered bun, which I enjoy with grilled pork, shrimp and spring rolls - the spring rolls were cold, soggy, and tasteless, and it came with nearly nothing in the way of fresh vegetables, something Vietnamese dishes are known for. The fresh rolls, ordered with pork and shrimp, were fat and stuffed with 99% rice noodles and had exactly one small shrimp at one end of each roll, and zero pork. This place also does not have green papaya salad, something most Vietnamese (and Thai) have. I probably shouldn't be surprised---after all, this is New England, known for foods high in salt, fat, and sugar, but it's also Harvard Square---I expected something better, but for no good reason.

Yelp
It was good! We had the summer rolls, crispy spring rolls, curry chicken soup, and pho. Vietnamese ice coffee is really strong
