A few times a year you might be lucky enough to try L’Espanola’s paella during Montreal’s St.Laurence Street market festival. It’s a rare and delicious treat, (but might be too salty for some)! The rest of the year this shop offers a variety of imported food and various other items from Spain.

Some of the best paella I've ever had! They cooked their seafood perfectly! The rice was so good as well. It was a heaping portion for $15 (and this was the petite size too). Honestly, they nailed this dish! Highly recommend although I'm not sure if they usually sell it; got this at a street festival.

L’espaniola market is a lovely place you can find a many things from Spain. I loved the churro dulce de leche and alfangol. it was amazing. You can find good ingredients for your paella, by the way the place is not big but have what you need , nice service . Nothing better than a nice smile when you enter and when you leave. Don’t forget to buy a lottery ticket from there before you leave and if you win please 5% For me or more if you want to.

Nice little specialty grocery with Spanish ham and mate tea. They have a large shoe section at the back of the store, as well as some Latin America artifacts. Really like their iberico ham !

Way more than a bookstore! Actually, the selection of books is small compared to the selection of Spanish foods! They have a nice selection of cheese, rice, including paella rice, turrón and so many other Spanish delicacies like tinned fish and crackers. Excellent spot to put together a Spanish themed gift basket for a party or just pick up some things for your next Spanish food feast!

We love this store. Products from Spain at a good price. Staff will alert you if a product is past its "best by" date. Staff recommended a product that was 2/3 cost of another product that we were considering. Get your paella supplies here! Definitely will return

We wanted to get some alfajores for a family dinner so we stopped by to pick up some. They have both in boxes individually wrapped (chocolate dipped) and the fresh ones. The cookie is light and airy with a good amount of dulce de leche in between. Although I prefer the Peruvian style with a denser cookie, these will have to do! The fresh alfajores are delivered to the store on Fridays (at the time of this review) so if you want them fresh, it's best to call them ahead of time to know when they'll be delivered. The staff is pretty friendly and there's lots to see in the store. There's a small fridge counter with cold foods like vacuum-packed marinated octopus, various cheeses and preserved meats like snackable chorizo. There's a lot of yerba mate products including the gourd cup and straw. I picked up some yerba tea bags for $2. They also have several flavors of Mexican Valentina hot sauce for about $2 and a couple of other Latin hot sauces. In the freezers, you can pick up arepas sandwich bread, empanada wrappers, Columbian cheese bread (Almojábanas) and paella seafood mixes from Poissonerie LaMer. You can get paella rice and seasonings here. In the front, there are tons of boxed cookies and tins. Perhaps set up for the holiday season? They look like they would make nice little gifts. And in the back, there's a wall of espadrilles with chairs to try them out.

Nope, it's not a bookstore, even if its name in French says so. It's a small store with some imported foodstuff from Spain, handicrafts, pots, pans, sausages, cheese, etc. Some of the products are not even from Spain, rather they are manufactured in the US and have brand names in Spanish, That´s it. It's like a general store. I came to look for some ingredients to cook a paella, they did not have what I was looking for and the employee got his feathers ruffled because I said he did not have in stock what I was looking for, and refused to buy some old rice in a box that he was shoving down my throat...as though I was obliged to buy something just because I set a foot on the store.

A great little place. Can't get any more authentic Spanish than this, and they have a good selection of stuff from South America. As the name suggests, they have a library of Spanish-language books/magazines in the back. By far tthe highlight of my visits is the fact that they often (but not always) stock alfajores from the Havana chain of cafes. These Argentine delights are made with cookies, dulce de leche, covered in chocolate or meringue.

The Libreria Espanola in Montreal has been a mecca for everything from Spain since i was a child growing up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada. That's right, back in the 1970's and 1980's this was pretty much the only place to get the goods from Spain! Fast forward to 2017...they are still the reference point for Spaniards and they keep bringing fresh and new products from Spain that you cannot get anywhere else. Morcilla, guindillas, huesos de Jamon Serrano, Nocilla, Carbonell brand Olive Oils, and an assortment of Spanish regional hams and sausages you cannot buy anywhere else in Canada!! I love this place, and i thank them for making my childhood a happier one as i now provide my own kids the same taste of Spain that i grew up with.
