Yelp
Simply the most arrogant, insulting, and shameful establishment we have ever had the misfortune of visiting. I am beyond troubled at a place that purports itself to be of such a high standard when it proves itself to be a fan of highbrow attitudes yet performs it's service with complete lack of adeptness. Our sole purpose was to try what we thought was a romantic place for our first honeymoon night in Bordeaux, but instead we left after a single round of "craft cocktails" that I'm guessing were made by the snotty little Indian "waitress" who took it upon herself to ignore us repeatedly. I hesitate to assume that it was due to our being American, I prefer not to start throwing that around, but it was less than thinly veiled that she could not be bothered with us; nor could the bald male server that thrice cleared glassware from a nearly empty patio while we sat for almost 30 MINUTES without a drink order taken. Thanks to a bright young lady whose bubbly personality and true kindness we fully appreciated, we finally received our swill (I've been a huge fan of craft mixology for a while, I absolutely understand the efforts it takes - this was akin to drinking what a kid playing with a soda gun would make), and then the hammer dropped. We chose a table, thinking we could maintain and just see the skies clearing on our night, we spoke to our server, we're given menus, and asked about specials. Nowhere in the establishment is it stated "reservations only"; the long-time local whose apartment we've booked has eaten here and never once made a reservation, and the locals we met later said the same. Somehow, miraculously, while a few people came in and sat down without even checking in, we were called out for not having one. Leave? SOLD. I don't care if we were wrong about this, but no explanation, simply our lovely dark-skinned and spectacled ode to resting bitch face saying something to our kind server and then the hammer dropping. My new bride was in tears, not for the lack of dining there, but simply from the complete lack of class exhibited by a collective of poorly-dressed snobbery that attempted to make us feel like interferences and obstacles. Thankfully our server was kind the whole way, and we didn't have the entire staff shoving us out the door. For the record, we were dressed as well as any other guests, conducted ourselves appropriately, never made a scene regarding the long wait, and when asked to leave, kindly apologized and paid while clearing our own glassware. We spoke some French but not fluently, yet we did our best to be apologetic for our lacking, and our server did not seem at all offended like her associate who avoided us like a plague. I do not feel happy at all about leaving this review, and find no thrill in this, but having grinded through the service industry to raise a child, finish my degrees, and get to a good place in life, I wanted to make the honeymoon of a lifetime an unforgettable experience for my wife. Mission accomplished - we will not forget this. Please see my forthcoming review of Cafe du Port for the amazing turnaround after this failure, so you can see how a fine dining establishment should operate on every level.
